Time Tunnel #1

The Twin Towers

Rate this book
September 10, 2001. Special Forces Major Kyle Mason is honeymooning at New York’s SoHo Grand Hotel with his bride, Padma Mahajan. The couple’s hotel is only a few hundred yards away from Padma’s place of work on the 105th floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower.

When Padma steps out for coffee and a cigarette, a mysterious visitor enters the honeymoon suite, warning Kyle of an incomprehensible catastrophe that will result in the total destruction of the World Trade Center towers, killing his wife. The stranger enlists Kyle’s help to avert a disaster that will occur the following morning – on 9/11.

The first book in the Time Tunnel series, Time Tunnel: The Twin Towers, re-imagines 9/11 as a critical inflection point in time, the outcome of which the government determines must be altered in order to reverse the course of the American empire.

I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

After losing his wife during 9/11, a Delta Force soldier goes back in time to save his wife, and to stop the incident.

What could be a good time travel story is undone by info dumps by the author. We get the premise...Then pages of Roswell 1947 information. Things start to move again, pages about the actions of the terrorists...It stopped all momentum. Some of the research was impressive, but wasn't necessary to the story.

Not bad if you skip a lot of pages.

This book starts off with a mysterious craft crashing in what will eventually come to be known as Area 51. The government rushes to cover up the fact that the type of craft that crashed appears to have not been from Earth and contains 4 seemingly alien bodies. But what is it really? And where did it come from? For many years these questions have plagued society. Area 51 has become legendary, and people both do and don’t believe that there is a huge conspiracy to cover up the truth of the matter.

This book supplies another fictional possibility as to what may have happened. And what could happen because of it. What if the events of the past could be changed? Could we fix what should never have been allowed to happen in the first place? And if we did, what would be the new outcome?

This was a very interesting book. It follows history closely enough that at times it is almost difficult to tell what really happened as opposed to what the author fictionally created. The biggest complaint I had about the book was that many of the pages that were pictures of documents or letters were a bit difficult to read on my kindle. By necessity, the photo text came through too small for my tired old eyes to sometimes see clearly. If read on a tablet or larger device though, I doubt that the reader would have the difficulty that I did. And even though it was at times difficult for me to see some of those pictured documents clearly, with only a little effort I was able to read them.

The story was well told and at least once I my eyes were tearing up because of what I’d read. The ending left me really wanting to know what happens next. I have questions that I am dying to have answered, but that I can’t ask in a review as it would give away too much of the story. It really is better to read it yourself. I would recommend this book to anyone who sometimes wonders “what if something had turned out differently.” I believe it was well worth the time it took me to read it. I will definitely be looking for the next book in the series.

What if 9/11 happened differently?

All I can say is WOW!
What does the alien crash at Roswell and the Twin Towers destruction September 11, 2001 have in common? Time travel.
Well written and a joy to read is this first of a series novel. I am so looking forward to the next book.

Exciting Read

A very fast paced and exciting time travel novel. The concept is great; the science is good. Character development is not so great but this is entertainment reading not literature and it is entertaining. The ending does require you to continue on to the next book. If you hate that then don't start the series. I don't mind particularly since both are available from Kindle Unlimited.

First the good. Richard Todd is either a genius with an encyclopedic knowledge of trivia, or is a very thorough researcher. This book, which I would consider a hybrid between science fiction and techno-thriller, is filled with incredible details about physics, modern history, Arabic, and other areas that I know probably took the author a lot of time to compile. Because the story involves the Roswell crash in 1947 and little grey men, as well as time travel, there’s a lot of suspension of disbelief. And the author deals with this by giving copious arguments to prove that you should believe what he’s telling you.

Now the bad. Technobabble. The author falls into the trap that many science-based authors fall into. They get caught up in the subject and forget the story. That’s not to say that the story isn’t exciting: it is very much so. But the author starts to develop characters and then they disappear into the background. We jump from time to time and person to person, and it’s hard to figure out who the story is really about until the last third of the book. As my colleague Kyle Portbury used to tell me: “Remember, it’s all about the story.” Don’t get so caught up with explaining how things work that you forget to tell the story.

That being said, the story is fun, and I want to read the sequels. But I wish the author would have focused more on the main character, rather than jumping around, trying to set up everything. Technobabble is often just skimmed over.

I just finished it last night! Surprise! Surprise! I'm usually not into science-fiction, but this was a really good book. It held my interest on many levels. 1. It was well written. 2. The plot was good against a backdrop of historical happenings that occurred throughout my life. 3. I scientific language was foreign to me but it did not interfere with plot but actualized it. And 4. The introduction of Kyle Mason will be back and I will be too because this author has the ability to build intensity which many new authors have forgotten to do and spend too much time in the heads of their protagonist instead of building plot.

Wow!
Let's be honest: 9/11 is THE most painful event in modern history. The Twin Towers addresses that pain. The novel by Richard Todd reads like a Michael Crichton novel. If Michael Crichton brainstormed with James Patterson and Tom Clancy. Todd injects real science into the science fiction of time travel. The science makes sense and the characters are all very real and believable.

This is an incredible story.

I received a copy of The Twin Towers by Richard Todd in a Goodreads giveaway and I'm really glad I did. This story combines 9/11, Roswell, time travel and the middle east wars in one novel and it was a fun read. There is a wide range of characters and a fast moving plot that moves easily from different times and viewpoints without confusing the readers. The finish was unexpected and I can't wait for the next volume. The Twin Towers is a Goodread for all.

What would you do it you could go back in time and stop something terrible from happening? Well, they figured out how to do it and Kyle is chosen to be the guy to stop 9/11 from happening - and he does - but the plan goes awry and now it gets interesting the moment Kyle goes off-mission and decides to stay instead of returning to his present time.

Hold onto your hats and allocate enough time to get into this book - you won’t regret it!

The Twin Towers is the first book in a new series. There is some violence. You can read this as a standalone as but it does end in a soft cliffhanger. This story presents an interesting and controversial topic...if you could go back in time what event would you change? Should you? Would it make things better? Worse?

Thank you to author Richard Todd for this free Kindle copy of The Twin Towers. And thanks to Goodreads for hosting the opportunity.

Nicely done. The story and characters pulled me in until the end, which is the segue into the next book. Well paced and imaged. Just a handful of editing issues - not bad in today's too often sloppy authoring.

A good read.

I usually do not read many time traveler books. I read the basis of the book and entered into a drawing to try to win it. This book was excellent. I enjoyed the story line and it's unique perspective on what if. I saw that this book is a series and can't wait to look up the other books to read. Would recommend this book to anyone.

Interesting concept, but it took awhile to hook me. The beginning half of the book bounced around a lot from character to character and even year to year. I felt like the plot itself really took off in the last quarter of the book. With that being said, now that it's set up, I'd be intrigued enough to read the 2nd book in the series.

Too Much Liberal BS

We read fiction to escape this liberal crap . Characters not even remotely believeable. I suppose in the next book a 110 lb Indian grandma will beat 10 MMA fighters in a bar fight.

One idiot whilst insulting a trans essayist, complained to her that I list trans creators. I applaud the behavioural consistency of the Snowflake (whinging, unselfaware, nasty US man-child). A trigger warning seems needed.

The channels listed include physicist, WOC, Indian, science educator, het, sewist, primatologist, ginger, mathematician, bi, physically challenged, French, military historian, socialist, trans, science historian, lesbian, tall, blond, cosplayer, asexual, science educator, marine biologist, married, intersex, artist, German, anthropologist, queer, economist, farmer, autist, pensioner, military boardgamer and other creators known as Women.

Also threatening to wilfully ignorant, vicious US baby-men include book reviewer, other LGBTQI+, Ugandan, fashion historian, anarchist, astrophysicist, wood worker, fashion historian, Scottish, communist, archaeologist, philosopher, redhaired, Australian, other BIPOC, modeller, book reviewer, other Neurodivergent, tailor, train historian, paleontologist, chemist, zoologist and other creators known (outside the US) as Human Beings.

If the voices insist still, please seek emergency pastoral counselling and/or repeat several times daily "I will not be a bellend today" or learn a new language, such as English.

My feelings towards those dolts are similar to that of the 13 Ukrainian marines defending Snake Island when their surrender was demanded. Their response was "Russian warship, go f@ck yourself". May the Trident on blue and yellow field fly forever!

The world building is awful, which is the default failing of all current low end US science fiction. This story is both chilling and boring, which are not what I need in fiction.

The premise is that the US military have a technology to alter past events and control history. I might trust the Irish military with that tech but not many others. I had found it a horror story when it was meant to be a grand adventure of the most "moral" force on the planet.

That military considered charging an 18 year old girl for lewd behaviour after she was gang raped by 22 older fellow soldiers, including non-commissioned officers. They would have taken no action at all, had the rapists not posted the rape video on the internet.

After it was reported in the press, the military issued a statement that it was decided that a superior can not have consensual sex with a soldier of lesser rank, so no charges were filed against the rape Victim.

Funnily that "decision" is already an explicit provision of that military's Code of Justice. No action taken against her rapists was reported. Of course in the next few days the story disappeared. The outrage across the U.S.never materialised.

This same government had hounded Julian Assange for years because he dared embarrass them. Visit the Belmarsh Conference on YouTube. I mention these two examples as a measure of the ethics and morality of the culture.

The weaknesses in the major characters come home to roost in the second instalment. The characters deciding that they are in love, out of love or just in lust and back againc consumes most of the oxygen in the room. It is impossible to ignore that the major characters are both insane and immature.

The U.S. military deciding what history should be and what points in time need changing is hubris worthy of Time Lords.

The ease of a coup is actually the most plausible plot point. It says much about the writer's view of the structure of U.S. government and society. I will give any other books by this writer a pass.

About three years ago, I began using YouTube. I initially found film shorts and science fiction, then moved to educational, essayist and lifestyle channels. Only recently did I stumble upon the book channels. 😍 There are a stunning number and variety of these channels. Between them they cover all aspects of the world of books, from library furnishing through writing novels.

They host reader communities which are cosmopolitan, curious and enjoy all bookish things. I promise it is opposite to the experience of Goodreads. I also discovered the educational video sites of which Nebula is my favourite because it was begun by channel creators. They are all worth a look and modestly priced.

Consider treating this as a hostile site. 🤔

About Goodreads discourse, there is none. As example, I wrote more than three years ago, a short negative review of Powers of the Earth by Travis Corcoran.

Travis self-described as US veteran, employee of an unnamed US agency, libertarian (now anarcho capitalist without millions), advocate for the return of chattel slavery (popular position among US citizens and being advanced by Utah completing the first forced labour prison for the homeless), admirer of Putin (another popular US stance (fascists are drawn to fascism, I imagine).

My communist opinion was that the story of a rich twat enlisting the military in overthrow of the US government was dangerous, unhealthy and now prophetic.

Travis and six fellow patriots were outraged. They engaged in a year long stream of comments including their views of my intelligence, the evils of socialism and more. Sadly the hoped for insight into the seeming. varying speed of light was not forthcoming but life can be unfair.

Claes Rees Jr aka cgr710 now ka Clayton R Jesse Jr, self-identified (no longer identifying as Nazi) wrote the final comment. He after referencing the contents of my last Goodreads message to a friend, declared that They had "won" (?).

I discovered that They had organised a year long flood of vile sexual, anti-LGBTQI, racist and similar comments against apparently every female creator I mentioned. They continue still.

The boater, pensioner, German particle physicist, model builder and other female creators were hardly impressed.

Despite that setback, the world's overabundance of unpleasantness was successfully increased and They did also deliver an accurate self-portrait of the US snowflake (arrogant, idiotic US man-baby) to a multinational audience.

It would seem those constitute a victory. Goodreads discourse is the best.

Another visit to YouTube have been earned. The next is made possible by channels -NCMI, Narrowboat Liberty, Savy writes Books, Verilybitchie, Verdana, RobWords, Jack Wolf, Clever Dick Films, Larry & Paul, Shannon Makes, Novara Media, Mercado Media, Dark Brandon, UNTV, ScaredKetchup, Viva Ia Dirt league, IL Neige, Mercado Media, ATP Geopolitics, Subha Reads reads, Rebecca Watson,

Ominous music begins. 😊 Little gangs followed my reviews from perhaps six months into my four plus year membership. I saw many of ,the same thugs who followed me, attack other negative reviewers. Their antics transcend the mere nasty comment to doxxing, stalking, threats and more.

Amazon have taken no action to discipline members, punish writers who at times lead them or dismiss employees who enable them. Since Amazon, Goodreads do not acknowledge these behaviours, an estimate of prevalence in both romance and speculative fiction spaces is is difficult.

Kindle/Goodreads gave over my limited message history to these damaged souls, which allowed a request through Pine Gap Centre for Australian Intelligence to interrogate the
one friend whom I occasionally messaged. The attempt at my personal history failed but left two outraged customers. It did not concern Amazon until we publicised the event.

Amazon's response was underwhelming. All visible harassment was removed or reversed. Page format and options were returned to normal, all comments masked on my reviews, even the strange Kindle denial of service episodes, ended for some time.

The new license given the thug to thug, seem to have emboldened a Kindle employee to now permanently reset my keyboard to split screen. Kindle/Goodreads customer service protocol may be in need of overhaul.

The males I had encountered were the MAGA middle class type by the professional reference works on their shelves. Not one had the books on their shelves. They are creepy, not very bright, nasty fellows, who have time to answer the call to write vicious comments to channels which They would not watch otherwise.

Imagine Farage minus the private school background. Starmer just gave a racist speech taken from British history. Whether in Australia, Canada, New Zealand or Britain, the US is happening here.

A seventh ex-employee of EBay was sentenced for harassment of a couple whose small ecommerce channel was deemed unkind to EBay. The couple were awarded several millions and the ex-employee had been the Chief of Global Security or some such. That these occurred before the ascension of the mad and moron to US government, is worth think.

Most depressing is the lack of response to these comment gangs from those who think themselves better. I suggest several precautions on this site.

Remove all personal information from the Goodreads profile and avoid messaging. Remove the Lurker. Those who never post are likely monitors for gangs or employee dummies, not admirers.

Given the Goodreads penchant for Altering customer pages, the screenshot of the odd, ugly and threatening are invaluable. If only exposed to Goodreads, these should suffice.

Kindle are a more serious danger. Do Not use Kindle Files, Contacts, Calendar or Email. I confirmed that Amazon employees read customer emails without permission or notice. Make of that what you will.

Do Not "purchase" Amazon ebooks, as they are a lease which ends when your account ends and downloads may be deleted at Amazon's whim. You own only the device and that can be subject to service denial, etc from techs. There are BooKTubers who will direct readers to alternative ebook and tablet vendors. They also may suggest alternatives to ebook purchase.

Silk searches obviously should be non-critical and innocuous.

These precautions cost nothing to implement but to not may well do. Amazon mad lads own no non-Randian morality, lack any self-awareness or restraint and They are US patriots with all that implies. Ominous music ends. 😊

Be safe. May we all find Good Reading! 🤗

IMPRESSIVE! What a unique take on such terrible time in our history. Imagine being able to go back in time and prevent 9/11 (I had tears in my eyes in the chapters involving changing that day). But what happens when you time travel and change one event in the past? How much does that impact future events?

This book follows Special Forces Major Kyle Mason who loses his wife Padma who worked on the 105th floor of the World Trade Center's North Tower. He falls into a deep depression after losing her. However, he is given the opportunity in 2008 to go back in time and not only save Padma, but everyone else who died in 9/11. But this is the first time anyone has time traveled using the Time Tunnel. Will it work?

Lovers of Sci-Fi will enjoy this book. I was highly impressed at how this book tied together and the amount of research done. The graphics throughout the book were a nice touch. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

Thank you to Goodreads and the author for my ARC.

Fun read!

I picked this up as a recommendation from a friend because I had written a similar book a year earlier. I didn’t read it to compare works, I merely wanted to see what different ideas were brought to the table. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised.

The author took a vastly different turn in how he brought about the time travel aspect and I thought it was wonderfully executed. While the plot of the book revolves around stopping 9/11, the brunt of the story focuses on the time travel and everything that leads up to the eventual jump to the past leaving the 9/11 portion as the books climax.

Highly recommended for fans of science fiction and time travel as well as accurate historical recreations. One last thing I will mention we’re some minor errors such as the time stamp on one of the chapters being off, and a misspelling on the name of one of the hijackers toward the end of the book. Other than that, I feel this was a well written story! Looking forward to checking out Book 2!

Science fiction is definitely not my cup of tea. Having said that, I have always been fascinated by time travel. And I LOVED this book. Time Tunnel: The Twin Towers by Richard Todd was a fascinating look at time travel, and what would happen, if we could go back in time and prevent 9-11.

9-11 is a tricky subject to write about as it recalls some of the worst moments in history. Mr. Todd was respectful towards it using a fiction and a non-fiction way of writing. The book did remind me of all my feelings towards that day, and how devastating it was to everyone in this country. In some ways, the book was depressing and in other ways, it was cathartic. I had a hard time putting it down, and would think about it continuously until I started reading it again. The icing on the cake, this is the first in a series. Kyle Mason will be back, and I can’t wait to see what adventures await him in his time travels.

Thank you to Richard Todd, Time Tunnel Media, and Goodreads for the chance to win and review this highly recommended 4 star book.

I loved this book! I can't wait to read upcoming books in this series.
It starts out the day before 9/11, Padma and Kyle eloped and were in a hotel in NYC. Then it takes us back to 1947 Roswell New Mexico. Each chapter tells you exactly where and when it takes place, which is something I really like in a novel.
The author takes us through the details leading up to 9/11 and ties it into Area 51, being a Time Tunnel and Kyle is responsible for killing the terrorists before 9/11 happens.
Very well written. It kept my interest throughout the whole book.
I did not want to put it down. I read this book rather quickly because I wanted to find out what happened, then was sad when it ended. I want more, so I will look forward to upcoming books in this series.
I received this book from Goodreads giveaways in exchange for my honest review. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review it.

It's time....to read this

As a fan of the Time Tunnel and Timeless tv shows, I was intrigued to see how time travel would be treated in this book. I’m glad to say it was extremely well done while weaving in to a historical perspective and story line. With all of the paradox of time travel, there are numerous plot lines that can unfold. I for one am now anxious to get to the other books in the series..
Bottom line, if you are a sci-fi fan and a fan of the tv shows above, than this is a must read. If you just like a good story and fast moving plot, then it’s also a good read. So if you haven’t read it, get to it. Unless you’ve come back from the future and want to read it again for the first time.

Wow!!!!
This book was fantastic. I totally enjoyed it. The pace was excellent and the characters were fascinating.
Major Kyle Mason lost his wife Padma to the terrorist attack on 9-11. He is special forces and heads to Afganistan trying to kill Osama Bin Laden. Due to a corrupt Afgan warlord he fails to find and kill him. Kyle disappears when he gets back to the United States.
However there is a secret group of people that feel the past can be changed. And the one to change it could be Kyle. Exciting and beautifully written I will definitely read the next two books in this series. I even had tears in my eyes at the end. Just loved this book.

I won this book as part of a Goodreads Giveaway. I enjoyed this book.I found it very choppy and some of the development to be odd. It didn't really flow However, I really liked the story and the idea. It was easy to read. The images added to the book really made it easy to understand some of the ideas the author. I found the backgrounds on the 9/11 attackers really interesting. I might really give it a 3.5. what I really wanted was to get more about the lead if the author wants to create a series. He is likeable but I'm not quite there enough to read more books. The time tunnel theory is enough that I would read a second book.

This is a riveting, emotional and well-written combination of genres which include alternate history, science, sci-fi and time travel. There is quite a bit of true historical data, as well. I did not want to put it down for even a brief moment! I am estactic that book 2 in the Time Tunnel series is available (I checked as soon as I finished reading The Twin Towers) because I NEED to know what happens next. I can honestly say that I was a little confused in the beginning but author Richard Todd performed excellently in pulling all of the strands of the story together to create a memorable book that I enjoyed immensely. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
