Rate this book
A sheepish teacher looking to settle down. A charming assistant willing to date again. Will a mail-order bride wreck their happily-ever-after?
Bear Creek, Montana, 1890. Dan Mavis believes the only way he’ll finally marry is if he mail-orders a wife. As a schoolteacher, his female contact is limited to the elegant assistant in his classroom. But just as things begin heating up between them, Dan’s advertisement reaches a woman keen to take up his offer.

Phoebe James’ heart was broken one too many times. But after getting to know the bashful educator she aids, she finds herself falling for a man strikingly different from those who’ve previously courted. And when she finally accepts his invitation to a date, she wonders if it might be time to trust again.

As the two quickly fall for one another’s charm, they realize this could be forever. But much to their dismay, Dan’s mail-order bride shows up ready to break the starry-eyed couple apart.

Will this dramatic interruption ruin Dan and Phoebe’s best chance for happily-ever-after?

The Untangling of Two Hearts is the entrancing third book in the Bear Creek Brides historical cowboy romance series. If you like messy love triangles, determined protagonists, and unexpected infatuation, you’ll adore Amelia Rose’s charming novel.

I am a shameless romance addict with no intentions of ever kicking the habit. Growing up I dreamed of entertaining people and taking them on fantastical journeys with my acting abilities, until I came to the realization as a college sophomore that I had none to speak of. Another ten years would pass before I discovered a different means to accomplishing the same dream: writing stories of love and passion for addicts just like me.I have always loved romance stories and I try to tie all the elements I like about them into my writing.

3.5 stars- Nancy did not have a good education and an abusive father, a newspaper ad caught her attention for a mail order bride and she thought why not?

Dan is a teacher who is seeking a wife but he wants more than just someone to have babies with, he wanted someone that matches his intelligence and for love.

The Sioux chief decides with all the changes in the world, he wants his people to learn English. Initially, he sends some children so they can teach the others so they can better handle what is going on outside of their tribe when he is gone. Phoebe James is assisting the children with their studies since she can speak their language.

Nancy blows into town desperate for a man to marry and clings to Dan but he has never heard of the woman. This puts Dan in a pickle since his affections lie with Phoebe. The character of Phoebe seems really insecure and fearful over being with another man after her previous bad relationship. The outcome was definitely different but ends up working for the characters.

Can you imagine loving someone and hoping that you will be able to make a lifelong commitment with him in the near future, only to be confronted with a young lady arriving in your town and declaring that she has arrived to marry your loved one!
I think that I would perhaps act the way that Phoebe James did and thank goodness Dan Mavis cared for her as much as he did.
I will admit that this story had me crying in parts ... It was so touching, but I loved every moment of it as I am sure you will too.
There are many happy scenes too and thank goodness for that.
Lovely characters and a nicely written story with some Indian culture and beliefs thrown in for good measure.

Based on the way this book began, I was surprised at the turn it took. I had not forgotten about Nancy, but when she turned up again, it was with an interesting twist.

I know Phoebe kept falling off the deep end because of her past experiences, but, she put poor Dan through his paces. I did like that they were teaching the Sioux children, and were willing to stand up for them and protect them.

I also thought this book was timely considering what we are currently experiencing in the world. The entire reason behind Brown Bear wanting the children to learn to read, write, and speak English was so they would be prepared for their "new" normal. Just as we are all trying to get used to what may be our "new" normal.

The one thing that really stood out for me was the number of times the words smirk, or smirked were used. I think those words were used at least once in conjunction with almost every character in the book if not all characters in the book.

If you are looking for a steamy romance, this is not it. This is a sweet romance about two people hitting a couple of bumps in the road on their journey to becoming a couple. They ultimately reach their HEA. Actually, a couple of people reach their HEA. I would give this book 3.5 stars.

UNTANGLING TWO HEARTS ....Amelia Rose
A father who preferred to drink the night away. His temper and slap because of his dinner she flees. The trees offer a hiding place and comfort, the neighbors would only send her back, saying, for her to obey her father. Mail order bride, would that be the answer for someone to love and care for
her. The town in the mountains came about after mining opened. Dan had come as a school teacher for the students and adult who wanted to learn. Letters he had for a mail order bride, for the town seemed to be men. A new challenge from the Sioux Chief to teach the children English to help them.
Phoebe offers to be an interrupter, Dan was delighted, and of the time they. would have together. He wanted someone to love with a deeper interest in books. Things change when a woman comes saying she is his mail order bride, has Phoebe been mislead again. The Sioux Chief, assures her Dan. Is
an honorable man, and don’t let fear come between. Disparate times for so many women and few options, how will it turn out, has a love began for them.

The Untangling of Two Hearts is a Wonderful sweet western that will keep you turning the pages to the very end. Amelia Rose has outdone herself with this novel, she has given readers a book that is well-written, filled it with great cast of characters and a strong plot that bring this read together perfectly! Her characters come to life as you find yourself drawn into their story with all the insecurities and misunderstandings they both face. Dan a schoolteacher in Bear Creek is looking for a bride and sets out to find one, but instead he finds himself with two ladies who wants to marry him! One is a mail-order bride running away from home the other with emotional scars from her past. As Dan and Phoebe's attraction start to build for one another a whirl wind comes to town with the name of Nancy Tender! It's heart pounding story filled with humor, drama, heartbreak, trials and tribulations and while the suspense builds and tensions escalate with the twist and turns abound that makes this one outstanding story! Amelia Rose has done a great job in this third book in The Bear Creek Brides series and I cannot wait to continue reading the series!

I received this ebook ARC from the author on the condition that I write an honest review.
This western tale was made better by the inclusion, of the description and customs of Sioux Indians. The male character is Dan, an honest, humble bachelor teacher in town. The female character is Phoebe, a single, young female, who has left Boston, because of her ex and her daddy. Phoebe and her step-brother live near the mines, owned by Edward, and they frequent the tribe camp. Brown Bear, Chief of the tribe, requests that the young Indians learn English. They are sent to school with Phoebe to help translate. During these classes, Dan and Phoebe become close and there is a mutual attraction. There are several misunderstandings between Phoebe and Dan, one cause was the appearance of an unexpected guest. During her spiritual journey, Phoebe realizes that she actually trusts Dan and knows that she loves him. Eventually they verbalize their love for each other and all ends in an HEA. I truly enjoy these Brides-to- Order stories and love the way that Ms Rose describes the era. I’ll continue to read more books by Ms Rose and highly recommend them.

The Untangling of Two Hearts is the third book in the Bear Creek Brides Series by Amelia Rose. This is an historical, western romance series with mail-order brides, lonely hearts, adventure, challenges, drama, a little angst, emotion, finding love unexpectedly, and life in the old west.

When a lonely schoolteacher believes his only chance at love and happiness would need to be mail-ordered to his door- he just might find that love has been right in front of him the whole time.

Happy Reading…

Thank you, Amelia Rose!

It is always good to visit Bear Creek. I love that Amelia Rose is honest about the atmosphere between the townspeople and the Indian population. Mail order brides always have an awkward period but this one is especially strange. For a bride to just show up without any correspondence really is unusual but Nancy is really over the top. Dan finds a clever way to handle the problem. I foresee more problems for Brown Bear in the future, but I’m glad he has strong support in town.

Good read

Although Amelia Rose tells a good story,I feel that more research of the time would greatly benefit her writing. I realize that she writes for a modern audience, but phrases like “sure thing”, “stressed our”, and “ to die for” are just a little too incongruent for my historical sensibilities. If this was a satire I might feel differently. But if that doesn’t bother you, Enjoy 💜

I listened to this one on audio. The narrator, Alan Taylor was fantastic!

This book was great. Loved it. There was a bit at the beginning and I thought ok. The person is our heroine. Then the story progresses wonderfully. Then bam, this person shows up. I had actually forgotten about her. That was funny because of her personality. Oh, and there were times I just wanted to shake Phoebe. I literally yelled at her out loud a few times. I loved the characters and story of this book!

I have been wondering what Phoebe James's backstory is. She and her brother have popped up in the previous books in the series, and I was glad to find out more. Phoebe really needs a solid man like Dan who will recognize her value. Dan also deserves a good woman like Phoebe. They made a great pair, expecially as they worked with the children.

Full disclosure #1: review copy rec’d from author.
Full disclosure #2: did not read two earlier books in the series.

American West historical fiction romance story.
Importance of education emphasized, with a bit of child abuse, and some ethnic prejudice also included. Too quick resolution, but overall, a quick, pleasant read.

Sweet Historical Romance

I really love this narrator! This is book three and again, we have a few common characters, but I think this can be a atand alone story. My least favorite part was the Sioux "spirit journey" the two main characters go on. My favorite part was the Sioux children attending school with the town'speople's children and them playing together.

Good, fast, sweet clean read.

I read The Untangling of TWO Hearts by Amelia Rose through the Kindle Unlimited program. This was a fast read, one that I enjoyed very much. There was a little bit of a mixs up that almost derailed this couple, but in the end true love won out.
