The Gate of Paradise

Rate this book
If you were to mix the hillbilly stereotypes of incest with the Southern grotesque, add fundamentalist Christianity, some existential meaninglessness, the pathos and pity for unloved children, the heights and depths of the profound and the hilarious, and a prose style on the level of poetry, then you would have a recipe for a novel like this one.
