Kiyoku-ya, huh? I started this book in November 2021 and finished it only today and it’s February! It wasn’t because the books was bad tho, it was pretty good, I give it… 3.75/5 (so 4). The reason why it took so long was because I was busy with school, nothing more 😅 Also I want to underline that even though it’s from Kadokawa Horror, it’s not a horror but rather a mistery with paranormal elements (erasing someones memories). This book is about a university student who’s senpai lost their memories to Kiyoku-ya (because she wanted to). It’s about how memories and past experiences make who we are and when we lost them we are entirely different people then we were before. In each chapter we meet another person who has lost their memories to Kiyoku-ya to finally get to know who it is and why they do it. It was very entertaining but I did figure out who Kiyoku-ya was when chapter 4 started, so…. I only gave it 3.75. Netherless it was pretty interesting and I’d recommend it to any mistery lovers (there’s no killing in it).
Ryoichi, a university student, meets his senior, Kyoko. They got along well and had fun times together. However, one day, Kyoko forgets him as if they have never met before. Ryoichi was confused but soon realized that she might have met Kioku-ya, an urban legend. "Kioku-ya: a mysterious person who erases people's memories as they wish." To find out what happened, he started researching. He used the internet and asked around, and he wanted to tell the Kioku-ya that it is wrong to erase people's memories. While he was gathering information, he began to realize that the people around him started to lose memories as well and he can't believe that Kioku-ya is just an urban legend.
The ending surprised me. The small hints at the end made me thought "could it be...?" It's apparently a horror novel, but it didn't feel that scary. I think it was more of a mystery novel. I still enjoyed it and am looking forward to the movie!
