This is a lovely role-reversal that includes humor and heart, as the young bear attempts to put Daddy bear to bed. The young bear faces several challenges getting Daddy to bed (of course!), but young bear is up for the challenge. Young readers will love seeing themselves in the parent role, and parents will appreciate the irony. Sweet twist at the end! The story is funny will stand up to repeated readings.

Best Bedtime Book Ever! There’s bedtime drama all over the world. Giltrow, from Australia, weaves a laugh-out-loud bedtime story, outlining all the steps and details it takes to get a little one to sleep, except the parent/child rolls are reversed. Or are they? And a huge bonus are the illustrations. Hilarious yet lovable.

It’s bedtime and Daddy Bear doesn’t want to go to bed. He cries and dawdles through the bedtime routine as his bear cub encourages him to put on his pajamas, brush his teeth, and get into bed. Daddy has excuses, fears of monsters, and wants another story. In a twist, all is well and the reader is in on the joke.

Why you need to add Bedtime Daddy to your bookshelf:

1.We all need a laugh at bedtime. Bedtime Daddy is hilarious.
2.The illustrations are delightful. I love the expressions on Daddy’s face. My favorite is the picture in the bathroom. Kid humor at its best.
3.Children will see themselves in the pages as they read about familiar bedtime routines with a twist.
4.Written in a “how to” format, Bedtime Daddy provides a fun way to learn about sequencing. 5.Children can discuss and compare their own bedtime routines.
6.Bedtime Daddy is Silly and fun but it also has warmth as the love between Daddy Bear and his cub is evident.
7.We all need new bedtime books!

This sweetly silly book is the perfect addition to a little one's "goodnight" bookshelf.

Written in second person, from a child's point of view, a little bear instructs the reader on how to put one's daddy to bed--As it turns out, daddies aren't so easy to tuck in! Kids will love the reversal of roles here and will certainly relate to all of Daddy bear's tactics to avoid bedtime. Giltrow's humor throughout is well done--just understated enough to ensure a few giggles before lights out.

The darling text is accompanied by goofy, childlike illustrations. Kids will especially love the antics of the two googly-eyed bears. (The child bear is rendered in a gender-neutral style, making this story accessible to all little ones.) A truly fun read, and one to be shared with those who tend to "stall" at bedtime!

In this role-reversal story, it's bedtime for adorable big daddy bear and his dutiful cub, who leads daddy bear through a sweet and funny bedtime routine. Then the excuses start. "One more story plleeeassse?" Will the patient cub comply? Maybe...after daddy bear flashes his "cutie eyes." What cub could resist? This charming story--with a just-right balance of humor, sweetness, irony--shows how far we'll go to sooth a loved one who just isn't ready to sleep yet. Kids and parents will both love Sharon Giltrow's gentle humor and Katrin Dreiling's lovable, big-eyed bears.

This hilarious story is about a little bear putting his daddy to bed. My five-year-old son giggled throughout the book. The illustrations add to the playful text and leave the reader wishing that bedtime had gone on just a little bit longer. If this book weren’t so funny, we’d probably add it to our bedtime reading list. But for now we’ll have to read it during the day when giggling hysterically is more acceptable.

This sweet story has a little bear showing how to put a Daddy to bed. Even Daddies need one last glass of water, a trip to the potty, and a battle against monsters. It is super cute and relatable for kids and parents alike. I absolutely LOVED the ending, which makes you want to read the story all over again! A really fun bedtime story that will become a must-read night after night.

Kids and parents alike will love this funny how-to book for putting a parent to sleep, with advice on important topics like what to do if Daddy wears his pjs on his head, and how to deal with familiar ploys to stay awake (asking a lot of questions, begging for one more story, wanting a snack, needing the bathroom). And what parent hasn’t tried to get away with skipping a few pages when reading the same book for the hundredth time? Cute illustrations offer details to discover upon multiple readings, which is exactly what kids will want. The playful approach is just right and the ending oh-so-satisfying. If you liked How to Babysit a Grandpa (or Grandma), you’ll like this! Highly recommended.

What a fun role-reversal bedtime story! When the narrator sees Daddy yawning, it's time to get him to bed--which, of course, is no easy task. Along the way, the narrator offers tips to readers, from "Give your daddy his favorite dinosaur pyjamas. He will think it's funny to wear them on his head" to "Say 'Goodnight' and give your daddy a kiss. Get out before the excuses start. Oh no, too late!" The illustrations are adorable. Read this to your little ones before bed and, when, like Daddy, they plead, "One more story plleeeasse?" you'll be secretly pleased and will happily flip to the beginning of Bedtime Daddy and read it to them again ... and again ... and again!

In this funny bedtime book, the child is putting his daddy to sleep. Illustrator Katrin Dreiling draws the main characters as bears with marble-like, googly eyes which fit well with the silly humor. Daddy Bear uses all of the usual stall tactics and excuses and Baby Bear patiently goes through all of the steps in a "how to" format. He even anticipates some of Daddy's next moves, but is unable to circumvent any steps, like spraying for monsters under the bed and behind the curtains. Kids and dads will enjoy reading this bedtime picture book together.

When my kids were little, they loved putting me to bed. They would tuck me in, read a story, say prayers, and give me a kiss. It was good fun. They are now 16 & 18 and don’t do that any more…

Bedtime, Daddy reminds me of those day, with instructions for children on how to put their Daddy to bed. It goes through the different stages that parents usually go through to get their children to bed, turning the tables to be a very funny story.

Kids and parents will love the illustrations showing the efforts the child goes through to put Daddy to bed.

I especially enjoyed the final illustration – just wait until you get to the end of the book.

This is a fun bedtime book for kids who really don’t want to go to bed… or any family. My 18 year old enjoyed reading this story, so there is no age limit here.

The illustrations set the night scene: bedtime. But it is Little Bear who reminds Daddy Bear that it is 7:00 p.m. A familiar, but hilarious, routine begins as Little Bear helps Daddy bear into pajamas, waits for Daddy to visit the bathroom, and even must read “one more story.” But after hugs and cuddles, Daddy Bear is having scary thoughts. Little Bear is tired, so how will Daddy Bear finally sleep?
Thank you Sharon Giltrow, author, for the perfect bedtime story.
Thank you Katrin Dreiling for funny illustrations with heart.
Thank you @EK_Books for publishing this book, soon to be loved world-wide.

This is a cute story about a little bear putting his daddy to sleep in all the little things that normally happens when a father or mother put their child asleep. The illustrations are adorable and funny there’s some adult humor in it and I think the kids would relate to the kids humor also. Like getting them dressed or having problems with monsters etc. Except in the book it’s a role reversal. Little ones would love hearing it before bedtime every night. It shares a lot of great bedtime routines as well.

In this delightful bedtime book, a role reversal has Daddy bear being tucked in for the night by his little one. Kids will enjoy the humorous text (that also winks to the parent/guardian) and funny, colorful illustrations. I found myself chuckling several times--it's just so true! An enjoyable twist on a classic bedtime story.

One of my favorite picture books for 2020! I just love how the author worked a timeless theme into a brand new, fun and whimsical journey for bedtime! The illustrations have been thoughtfully created and interweaved to create a "thicker" plot and more laughs. Kudos to both author and illustrator.

Sharon Giltrow has given us a cute bedtime story. The reader is taken through all the bedtime postponement activities a child would try but this time it is dad who does not want to go to bed. And then... Just so fun to read and the end is a wonderful twist.

This is such a fun picture book which flips the traditional children’s bedtime routine on it’s head! Daddy Bear is tired and he just yawned, so it’s time time for him to go to bed. But Daddy doesn’t really want to go to bed, and getting him dressed, his teeth brushed and finally into bed takes a long time especially when he has lots of excuses like being hungry or needing to go for a poop…

This funny story is all about a little bear cub trying to get his daddy to bed, following through with the bedtime routine that a lot of families will be familiar with. What makes this book funny from the outset is that rather than concentrating on getting the child to bed, this story is about getting daddy to bed instead! All the familiar difficulties that parents often face on the bedtime routine are shown in this story, daddy making up excuses for why he can’t go to bed yet, wanting more than one story to be read, monsters under the bed and I just love the silliness of it all including getting him into his pyjamas. There’s something so funny and silly about the grown up daddy bear being the one who’s acting all childish and I’m sure lots of children will laugh especially at the illustrations which show daddy’s expressions so well. Any adults reading this with their children can relate to the way that maybe their kids are during the bedtime routine and can give both adults and kids a chance of talking about this, as well as just enjoying all the funny things that happen!

The pictures are so brilliant and show the story so well. I love the way daddy bear looks, the expressions he shows and the silly way he tries to prolong going to bed are so fun to look at. I think it’s even funnier given how big daddy is to the little bear cub, and it just makes all his excuses and silliness even funnier. There’s something very fun about the drawings, they look like a child made them and it makes the whole book look and feel more engaging and fun. There’s also an extra image at the end of the story, which I just love.

I think many parents and their kids will enjoy this twist on the classic bedtime routine. Whether this book will actually help make bedtime any easier for those involved I don’t know, but it will certainly lead to some laughs and smiles.
