Never fall for a man they call the devil himself.
Bruno De Luca’s the criminal underworld’s newest prodigy.

He’s one hulking, inked-up, muscled wall with arms and legs.
Fierce, dark eyes that could knock you up with one gaze alone.
The roguish charm. The swagger. The cocksure smirk.
The kind of man you might call a living, breathing god.
The problem with this man?
They say he has no soul, and they’re right.

Bruno will stop at nothing until he owns this town – he vows to make San Diego his no matter the consequences.
He’s the man of your dreams and nightmares all at once.
In his world, anger and hate are the only emotions that make any sense.
I wanted nothing to do with that.
A man like that cannot love. He proved me wrong.

My friends say I’m insane, and it’s true.
That look in his eye – it makes me high.
An explosive chemistry I’d lose my mind without.
The beast with him took me over, devoured me, possessed me.
He gives me the courage to live the life I want…with him.
To lose him now would be a death sentence of its own kind.
So why is he the only man who makes me feel safe?

Bruno is a full-length standalone DARK MAFIA romance.
It deals with sensitive subjects some may find triggering.

Auyhor needs to do research

I got 5 pages into chapter one which is set in 1973. Author then goes on to reference a cassette player in the stolen car(cassettes didn’t exist in 1973), and then references the song playing on the radio as Africa by Toto which didn’t come out until 1982. If you are this wrong on your dates 5 pages into chapter one then I will NOT finish your book and I will leave a one star review. It’s not hard to do a little research.

DNF @27%. This book starts off in 1973 when I'm assuming Bruno is about 18ish. I'm this far into the book and boom. One sentence about his "Annie" (quiet, demure, shy) who he has at home waiting for him. Since he has been in San Diego for 5 months he worked fast. We don't see them meet. We don't see them interact. The entire book so far has been about his journey in the Mafia, moving around, moving up, etc. I'm so bored I'm done.

This book was not for me. I love me a mafia, dark and dirty romance genre, but this wasn’t it. It’s mafia, yes, but it’s boring and drags on and on. So much thought writing and hardly any dialogue. It’s also written in third person which is extremely passé especially with it being the year 2020.

The book starts off in 1973 with a car having a cassette tape player with a song that hasn’t even come out yet until the 80’s. A little bit of research goes a long way! Literally, internet, right at your finger tips.
There’s no romance either. Annie is mentioned for a brief minute then just disappears and later reappears out of no where.

There’s a lot of grammar mistakes and wrong use of words throughout the entire book. Author jumps all over the place from using the main characters first name to his last name.
In one chapter, she starts going into detail about the H’s brother and there is an entire paragraph from the brothers perspective. Wtf? It wasn’t even necessary to have that. Just more of a filler that made absolutely no sense.
It’s a messy, messy book.

ONE EXCEPTIONAL ADVENTURE!!!
Deep, dark, decadence! Raven imparts one electrifying approach, ratcheting up the thrill of the chase, fusing this gem together flawlessly. Rousting the drama, turmoil, intrigue, underlying currents, danger, mounting suspense and nerve racking situations along with a boatload of trouble while dodging bedlem, you have one mind-blowing masterpiece. A tumultuous rollercoaster of startling mishaps and vexing circumstances, propel those churning emotions into play, keeping you riveted and frozen to your seat. Bumbling through intimidating trials and challenging tribulations, noting the shocking twists and wicked turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never envisioned. The attraction and chemistry sizzles from the pages and suck you in so deeply until you feel the heat and electricity thrumming through your veins. The characters, dialogue, interactions, charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, transforming into genuinely approachable personalities. The scenes are written with such realism, impressive talent and unique insight, blasts this sparkling jewel to life, making the storyline pop. Amazing job Raven, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.

If you like dark mafia stories that are full of action and suspense, this one's for you. This is Bruno's story and how he is determined to rise up through the mafia ranks. His brother is the opposite as he goes the legal route. A little godfather drama with all the killings and bad things that go along with the mafia lifestyle. A little romance to steam up some things. A good story that I read as an arc via Bad Boy Update and voluntarily chose to review.

I really wanted to like this book, but I got to page 104 before sadly I had to give up! I regularly read dark romance and dark mafia romance, but this lacked in the romance department....actually there wasn't any??? Okay so Bruno has a girl at home, but all we have is a couple of sex scenes, no chemistry, no mention of his girl at any other time, no real interaction.........what we do get is lots of mafia action and conversation which seemed to go on and on. I couldn't see where the plot was going and I cant even say it was exciting. What i will say is its been well written and its descriptive.
As a stand alone romance I would have expected more chemistry and interaction between Bruno and Annie by page 104 of a 199 page book, so sorry just wasn't for me!!!

This book tells us the story of Bruno DeLuca, how he left his native Italy after the murder of his father to go to America. There he began to work for Castillo, a gangster boss who, when arrested, gave Bruno the keys to the kingdom. We will see how Bruno begins from the bottom until he reaches the top, and we will witness all the sacrifices and the blood spilled on his path.
But this man still have a spot in his black heart for love, his sweet Annie. Thanks to her he is able to find comfort and understanding in his mob life. Along with his brother Charlie, his cousin Marco and his best friend Antonio, they are the only people in Bruno’s circle of trust. The rest are pawns in their power struggle.
I ❤️this character.

It also proved true something his father had always told him. The most fatal mistake? Trust.

Bruno’s dark heart felt only for her. He’d often wondered whether his heart sensed her innocence from the start. Attracted to the overwhelming good in her, he refused to let her go. She kept him sane in his ugly world of violence, murder, and hate. Having Annie at his side gave him so much more than a convenient place to get his rocks off. She became his anchor. Gave him a purpose outside himself, beyond his own selfish greed for money and power. When he’d come to America he’d wanted to stay single and focus everything he had on getting to the top. But her, his sweet Annie he could not resist. Everything about her enhanced who he was, made him stronger. “What do you expect De Luca? I’ve been mainlining the same poison the mob has fed you since the day we met.” Bruno stared at her for a moment before he said anything. It broke his heart to see the hardened edge his woman had. “Then let my poison be your remedy.” He smothered her mouth with his lips. “You’re mine,” he declared in a harsh growl through gritted teeth. “You’re my woman.”

“Who?” she whispered softly, tears pooling in her eyes. “Tell me who you killed this time.” Bruno held her tight, squeezing her arms with the tips of his fingers like he never wanted to let her go. “It doesn’t matter. You are all that matters to me.” “I wasn’t asking Bruno. I’m telling you. I want to know.”De Luca didn’t let his walls down in front of anybody, not even in the arms of his woman.

His fingers tucked into his coat and from within, he withdrew his .22 from under his jacket. Holding it in both hands, he pointed the muzzle up at his tortured face and stared deep into the dark, hollow barrel.

A Circle of Death and Heartache

The reader can be saved lost time and a painful experience by limiting the reading of Bruno to the Prologue and the Epilogue. Those two parts encapsulate the reading message of the “dark Mafia romance” of Bruno: life is a circle of death if the path chosen is that of the Mafia.

Bruno’s tale begins in Sicily and ends in San Diego with the tale of two brothers, children of a father caught in the web of La Cosa Nostra. One escapes the pathway of death which had consumed the father; the other follows it forward from the old world to a new world, fulfilling the same destiny of death.

The central character, Bruno, suggests that his life choices were taken from him because of his dyslexia—his brother can choose education because he is bright, while Bruno’s native intelligence is not valuable because his ability to learn in a traditional pathway is locked away as a result of the learning disability. But the true lesson is of the false “safety” of the mafia—the death that rots out what could have been a life of happiness and love.

To call this novel a “romance” is a lie. Bruno finds love, but it does not redeem him from the life he has chosen and the decisions of death that he makes. Rather, he brings his dark world into his love’s life though his unwillingness to see the harm of his world despite the pleas of the woman who loves him and whom he professes to love.

I previously read this author’s dark mafia romance, Theo. Again, the story was filled with the pain of life, but the reader was offered hope in the love shared by Theo and Illya, despite the evil that surrounded them. I did not find such redemption in Bruno.

I received this novel as a Booksprout ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.

Oh WOW. I am sorry to say that I do not have many Raven Scott books under my belt, however, let me assure you that this is definitely something that I intend to rectify ASAP.

Bruno is her latest publication and the term 'glued' does not do it justice. It is rare for me to rave about a mafia release, prior to finishing it, but when I was approximately 29% through, that is exactly what I did. Friends and Family heard me, loud and clear, about this impressive release. What actually endeared me, to the book, the most was not romance, it was the character of Bruno, himself, that did it. I adore a great fictional storyline as much as the next person, but to me, this release was focused on the individual and his growth, if you will, and I loved it.

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Bruno in exchange for my honest and voluntarily given opinion and I highly recommend reading this amazingly creative publication.

Behind every mask there is a face, and behind that a story....

Dark Mafia is my jam and this story did not disappoint. Bruno De Luca was a street smart, gritty beast of a man that everyone feared and that's just the way he liked it. Cross him and you have written your own death sentence. Bruno is brutal, savage and rules his empire with an iron fist and a loaded gun. He is known for having no feelings, no heart, no mercy.

The exception being his woman, his love, his Annie. She calmed him when he was near her. He felt all his troubles and fears melt when she was around. I wish there were more scenes in this story with the two of them. I enjoyed their chemistry and wanted more.

Pulse Pounding Good

Bruno by Raven Scott. 4.5 Stars

Pulse Pounding Good.

This book is powerful, intense and it's how I believe the Mafia operates within their organization.

Bruno rises through the ranks to the top of the chain, he's feared, unfazed by all the killing and as deadly as they come. Even as hardened as he is he still has a soul that has feelings, especially when he is tricked into killing his one and only true friend.

Great read with action, danger and passion all the way through.

I have voluntarily read and I'm voluntarily reviewing an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

This is the story of Bruno De Luca and his rise from soldier to head of a mafia family at aged 27. We see his love of family, father, brother and cousin and a few lines about his Annie.
We see that he has deep feelings for her, during a couple of sex scenes, but his mind is always around his mafia.
I didn’t see a romance, he was already married to Annie, and might have picked up a woman in a bar if his cousin hadn’t stopped him by driving him home.
A mafia story, not the romance l wanted.

Bruno by Raven Scott is a difficult story to review. The story is good. I initially enjoyed the back story leading up to the romance. However, the more I read, the more I kept looking at the title…it does say Romance. But, in my mind, this story was a Mafia story…not a romance. Bruno has a wife….and there are a few gratuitous love scenes. But, I didn’t see any romance. At all.

First off this is not a romance. You get only a tiny back story on how he met his wife. They are already a couple once you get to that part of the story. I loved the cover but that was about it. It had a lot of inconsistencies and it did not flow well. Not terribly written but I had a hard time staying interested in the story. If you like pure Mafia stories than you might like it but not if you are looking for romance.

An audiobook review. This was a very painful book to get through and Not because of the narrator. This book is classified as a mafia romance. It is Not. I was very disappointed in this book. If I didn’t get this as a ARC audiobook I would not have finished it. The narrator did a decent job. I would classify this as a mafia book only but even that doesn’t does not fit. There is not enough blood and killing for that. Over all not implying bit. One and a half stars for the book and 3.5 for the narrator.

This is a mafia book, dressed up like a romance and I'm not buying it. I should have known after reading Theo and not particular liking that book, that this might be a crap shoot. If your looking for a mafia/gangster/mob book with all that drama, with a few se*y scenes thrown in to justify the "A Dark Mafia Romance" genre, have at it. For me no thanks.

Bruno is a dark dirty Mafia novel about what it takes to not only be in a mafia but what Bruno has lived through and it’s similar to life where you cant trust anybody. It’s not your normal romance either where they fall in love and everything changes. Annie had his love but he was still a beast Good job first time reader and I’ll look forward to read others

The description of the book is misleading, there is no romance here. There is a wife with a couple of steamy parts but it’s not a story about them. It is a well written mafia thriller about how Bruno came up in the life and what he went through to make it to the top. It was a solid book with lots of action but I wouldn’t have normally chosen it to read if the description accurately portrayed the story.

Bruno De Luca is at the top of the Mafia world. In this story we learn how he traveled up the proverbial ladder. It’s dark, gritty, angst, suspense and full of mayhem. The only person to calm his darkness is His woman, His Annie. They have an explosive chemistry that carries them throughout the drama. Overall a good storyline. Would I recommend it: yes

I’m afraid I wasn’t the biggest fan of this book. It seemed to have lots of detail about irrelevant things, I couldn’t connect with the characters and it jumped about without any obvious reason. It said it was a mafia romance but there was very little romance in my opinion. I finished it as I got the arc to review, but that is the only reason I read it all.

This book was not the dark romance I expected. It was a mafia book.
This upset me as although it was an ok mafia read... I was expecting a romance as advertised.
It tells the story of Bruno DeLuca and his rise from soldier to head of the family... all by the age of 27.
For a mafia story... enjoy
For a romance... not so much.

This was a good Mafia story, but it lacks having the hot romance I would expect in the Mafia world. It tells the story of Bruno's journey and what he went through to rise from the bottom to the top of the Mafia family. It's full of drama, heart stopping suspense, danger, and twists and turns you won't see coming. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Patsy Sacco

Wow, that was different. A very dark Mafia story of Bruno de Luca , rising in the ranks and a brutal, dark lifestyle. Not for the feint hearted, I wasn’t sure about it at first but then I needed to know more. Not much romance but Bruno does have “his woman” Annie at home. A power control story, with lots of action. Enjoyed the story but not my usual dark Mafia story I would choose but still good

This is a fantastic dark mafia romance that I absolutely enjoyed reading. It has a gripping storyline that had me totally captivated right from the very start. The characters are very likeable and connection and chemistry between these two characters sizzles throughout this story. If you like a dark mafia romance then this is the book for you. This definitely a must read!!!

I usually love any type of mafia story line, this had too many inconsistencies right from the beginning. I ended up not finishing it after about chapter 5. Cassette tapes did not come out until the 80’s, the story started in the 70’s. The song playing was a song from 80’s. the author lost me at that point. I tried to push on, but unfortunately, I could not. I was given an ARC copy via Booksprout and these are my thoughts and views.

What in the world did I just read? First, the author is either extremely young with no knowledge of the outside world or from a remote country with no knowledge about the outside world. If you were looking for a romance novel, skip this one because there is none. The book is very poorly written and there is little to no explanation for anything. Do t waste your time. Find something on Wattpad. It would be better than this.

Overall I was expecting more romance development between Bruno and Annie character. There isn’t much development on Annie. Everything is told from Bruno perspective and it seemed to be more about mafia than romance. I’m more of romance person so it was ok. It’s an overall good story. I just wanting more of Annie

This was a good read! If you enjoy a Mafia read then this is for you mostly entered around our main character Bruno De Luca more about his mafia lifestyle, not so much romance but that doesn’t in any way take anything from this story! Good characters and a good storyline. I’d recommend this book.

This is the story of Bruno and how he became part of the mafia. We follow his rise to the top in the mob world and the woman that has him enthralled.
