Sinful Men #4

My Sinful Love

Rate this book
She was my what if girl. The one I longed for. The one I tried to find again after she left for the other side of the world.

Now, years later, fate has swept the only woman I’ve ever loved back into my life.

With her intensity, her honesty, her passion, Annalise tries to break down my walls, because she’s the one who knew me before my family shattered.

When we collide again, it's tender and savage, gentle and rough, and makes me hungry for more of this electric, once-in-a-blue moon kind of connection.

If I want to keep her close, I’ll have to serve up the whole truth of where I went and what I did after she left.

But if I do, I risk losing her again, and that’s not a fate I’m ready to face. Not when each day brings me closer to finding the people who ripped my family apart and seeing them put behind bars.

Until the day I learn Annalise is holding the final piece of the puzzle to solving the mystery.

4 First True Love Never Dies Stars

I love authors who are not one note wonders. Yes, I can appreciate an author who has found their voice; they know what they do well and stick with it. There is No Shame in knowing your lane. But when an author has figured out their core strength and then incorporates it into a variation of styles and sub genres...then you have one who took a risk and won.

Lauren Blakely has my respect for doing just that.
She came up with her way of writing strong, alpha men who had crushing hearts and back stories to make us care. Each one was unique in their way of handling their issues. All of them were magnificent in bed and business...but also needing the woman to be their guiding light. The women each were strong in their own right... not needing to have some knight in shining armor "save" them....But these women were not so closed off to not allow a crack in their defenses and let the feelings for these men grow.

The Sinful Nights Series was one of Blakely's suspense driven ideas. In these books, we had the signature sensuality, hard core loving with stunning dirty talk and sexy times coming with an intricate plot of murder and deception. Each book carried the suspense of this initial murder and how all of the family was dealing with it. There were discovered half brothers, betrayal and current issues of gang violence all happening in Sin City, Las Vegas. All of the books were complete but left us wondering about the other secondary characters and when they would get their book.

Sinful Love was the last of the series and gave us this amazing love story of Michael Stone and Annalise Delacroix, his "What if?" girl.

We all have had first loves... some worked out and you are the High School Sweethearts that we see on TV that have been married for 40 years and still counting...
Then there are those of us who fell hard for our first real love...and it didn't matter if it was college or in your twenties... you thought he or she was it....and for some reason...it turned out it wasn't.
It could have been any number of reasons things didn't go as planned...but in your heart of hearts...this person, this first love branded you... and try as you might to move on... a piece of you, the core...never allowed you feel that way about anyone else...and you are alone because of it.

That was Michael Sloan. Annalise was it for him. This French exchange student from High School captured Michael's heart and it never beat for anyone else. The best was it was mutual.... she loved him completely and when she had to go back to France....both of them vowed to make it all work....

Letters were written ... expensive calls were arranged. This was 18 years ago... and there was no Skype, internet or unlimited texting and talk... long distance was exactly that...and without the financial freedom to fly and see each other...it was a very hard task to continue to stay in touch.
Love may have been there between the two of them....but life and circumstances got in the way.

Annalise became the photojournalist she always dreamed of... she traveled all of the world covering all of the important stories of the times. Her instincts were keen, her hand steady and she captured moments which made the viewer see exactly what was happening and be in the frame feeling it all.
During all of these trips, months, years working her way up the recognition ladder, she kept her heart full of Michael. Yet, as time passed and she didn't hear from him...she began to feel as if their ultimate goal was slipping away...it was no fault of either of them... it was just life.

While Annalise's career was taking off...Michael was in college and focused on learning everything he could to block out the death and murder of his beloved father. The betrayal of his own mother cut to the core. The pain was something which clawed at him and the only thing he had to hold him together was a note from his dad ...the last one he had written. Dad was a note writer to remind himself to do things...and in this last reminder, he had written his understanding of Michael's love for this French girl living so far away...he had told himself to guide Michael, give him the tools to handle it and be able to have this true love. Michael carried this note, studied hard and was able to finally be stationed in Germany through the service and Army Intelligence.

After years of training, Michael finally wrote his letter to Annalise pouring out his soul...telling her after all of these years he still wished for them to be together...But he runs into Annalise before she received the letter and in the coffee shop while catching up, carefully trying to reconnect, he sees the engagement ring on her finger. She is gracious and caring; he wishes her well. The door has been shut for she had moved on.

Fast forward ten years and Michael has now received a letter from Annalise; she will be working in Vegas and wondered if he would like to meet for a coffee (even though the joke is he hates coffee) or drink or whatever. The idea of seeing her has him on pins and needles ...he is besides himself. She is equally nervous as it has been two years since her husband's death. He had suffered a long illness and she has only recently come out of her grief and started to live in the real world again.

These two meet and each has their own internal dialogue happening of why they are there... how to handle all of this etc. Michael realizes he never stopped loving her...all of his relationships were right...he was closed off and never fully committed...he had been take by a ghost...

Only she was real and right in front of him.

This is the love story we all secretly dream about. It is the one where past relationships get a second chance and you promise yourself you will do it right.

Lauren Blakley did it right. She gave us full passion, concern and fragile male egos...and sexual encounters which took place EVERYWHERE... no vehicle, bathroom, restaurant, elevator, closet or wall was off limits. This was delicious and you wished it was you having all of this action... but even more importantly... it was this intensity, this coming together emotionally as well as physically. They were now grown people; free to do whatever and it was a joy to see how much they were connecting on all levels.

There was also the conclusion of the murder investigation from long ago. It involved all of the brothers, past characters and was sewn up with a couple of twists to make it worthwhile.

This was the Suspenseful Lauren Blakely and it was a terrific conclusion to the series.

Say it ain't so... This suspenseful and arresting series CAN'T be over. Not when I am so in love with it, with the Sloan siblings and their loved ones, and with the way Lauren Blakely shapes her book-world with a deft hand and a large helping of mystery...

And what mystery it was!! I could tell you more, but why risk spoiling it for you? If you've been following this series of inter-connected stories, you'll know that Sinful Love is the fourth book...and the one that holds the final, shocking answers. All I will say is this:

Oh. My. Fucking. God.

That'll have to do, because I want your mouth to drop open and your eyes to widen as mine did when I uncovered the truth. Know this though—the way Ms. Blakely tied this series together was breathtaking, surprising, heart-pounding and completely engaging.

And utterly swoonworthy, thanks to one Michael Sloan. That man, I swear. He's the very definition of panty-melting, and yet I find myself wanting to award him some classier compliments—I think he would appreciate it. He's devilishly handsome; a romantic and dashing man with a fast, smooth (dirty) mouth and all the right moves. His devotion and capacity to love and care for those around him is remarkable, as is the way he recognizes his own failings.

Which were, to my eyes, few and far between. He was wholly deserving of his spectacular second chance at love with his what if? girl, Annalise, and it made my sappy heart ache that he'd lost so much—even as he edged ever closer to gaining even more.

Like closure. True love. THE TRUTH. Oh, lord. There's just SO MUCH to love about Sinful Love. The beautiful rekindling of Michael and Annalise's love (I could probably dedicate paragraphs to how their relationship, their separation, their chemistry and their obstacles pulled a frown to my forehead and put a flutter in my belly). The fast-paced ending that had me manically flipping page after page. The sweet, funny and sexy banter that Ms. Blakely is so damn good at. The secondary characters I enjoyed catching up with—or mentally matchmaking.

And, of course, that mystery. The suspense-ridden puzzle that kept me guessing, speculating, wondering and theorizing. While I can't (read: don't want to) believe the Sinful Nights has reached its conclusion, I CAN believe that Ms. Blakely made said conclusion perfectly sexy, enjoyably twisty and sublimely wonderful. I wouldn’t expect anything less from one of my very favorite authors. ~ Beth, 5 Je T'aime stars

Oh Ms. Blakely, you sure saved the best for last in this series! Michael was by far my favorite Sloan brother! He is protective, loving, and downright swoon-worthy! And this story wrapped up the entire series perfectly!

Michael Sloan is the oldest brother, and has always taken care of everyone else. He likes his life in black and white, and rarely lets anyone in. After his father was killed by his mother, he just has to move on anyway he can.

“That’s the only way through everything. Keep in living–keep on feeling.”

His first love, Annalise, was always on his mind, even when he found out she'd moved on. But when she re-enters his life, alone and scared, the chemistry between them is no longer dormant. It is hot as hell!

“Don’t think I’m selfish. I’m not,” she said, whispering in his ear. “I want to taste you. I want you in my mouth. I want to feel you in my throat.”

Annalise is a beautiful, funny, sassy French woman. Michael was her first love as well, but when they drifted apart due to time and distance, she moved on. However, one look at Michael has her falling all over again.

“Now. The word echoed. Reminding her that now was all anyone ever had. This moment. Make the most of it.”

The two of them together were perfection! I loved how giving and caring Michael was, and how he helped Annalise through a ridiculously tough time. I loved how we got to see the entire Sloan clan, as well as got the ending to their story. This was another fantastic read from Ms. Blakely, and I can’t wait for more! ~ Tiffany, 5 stars

~~~
God, this series is amazing. Sexy. Suspenseful. Mysterious. Each book building until we get to the stunning conclusion. And in this final installment we are rewarded with the story of Michael and Annalise. A second chance for them to find happiness together—no matter the hurdles that are in their way.
I could provide an easy snapshot review of the story but I’m not going to because you need—no, you MUST read this series. You must experience the ties that bind a family together through the toughest of times, the love that is unfurled when you find your “one” and the second chance you don’t let pass you by when you have the opportunity to love again.
I absolutely loved every bit of Michael and Annalise’s story. Every. Bit. From the flash backs of their past, to their present, I couldn’t get enough of their story. Sinful Love is the dénouement of this series. The icing on the cake. The cherry on the top of the sundae. A sweetly satisfying ending that has stuck with me since I finished reading it—so much so that that I plan to re-read the entire series soon to experience it all again. ~ Missy, 5 Le Sigh stars
Lauren Blakely has created a series that is rich and multi-layered in Sinful Nights and Sinful Love was its perfect conclusion. In each book clues are cleverly hidden and an exceptional plot was slowly unveiled offering up different pieces of this puzzle and it all culminated in this jaw-dropping finale. If you’re looking for a series that holds everything from humour to mystery and suspense to impossibly swoon-worthy men and epic romance; then look no further.
Blakely certainly has a knack for creating men that you’ll lose your heart over but Michael is definitely head and shoulders above the rest. All the protectiveness, quiet seriousness and mystery that surrounded Michael throughout this series translated into one highly intense man. He doesn’t let that many people in and when it comes to women even less so, but if you are lucky enough to get a piece of his heart then you are guaranteed a romance for the ages (and some delicious sexy times courtesy of his dirty mouth).
This is a second chance romance. Michael has always loved Annalise but circumstance and distance tore them apart. Now, as adults, will the love that still burns inside them and their added maturity be enough to hold them together? Bittersweet memories, mystery, tension and angst are all interlaced to create yet another epic romance for one of the Sloane brothers.
Absolutely recommended.
What an ending, how it all falls into place I had so many questions and they all got answered.
I will say sometimes it felt like too many characters and I would have to go back and listen to a part here or a part there but once I got more into the meat of the story it all came together.
I enjoyed Michael’s HEA he deserved it the fact that it is a second chance one gives me all the feels. I am glad he and Annalise found their way back to each other. The ocean couldn’t keep these too from each other, long distance is hard but if you can with stand then you know you are truly meant to be.
The chapters from the fathers POV were very powerful and I enjoyed those best.
I am soo glad we got a new voice for each character I don’t know if this book would have had the same impact if it hadn’t. Great narrators.
I am a huge fan of second chance romances that feature childhood/young love. There's just something so magical and sweet about them. I've been waiting for broody Michael and his "what if" girl and I was not disappointed. Annalise and Michael's story brought out all the feels and also was incredibly sexy. These two radiated heat and their chemistry was off the charts. I loved how they found their way back to each other and even when they hit a few bumps in the road, they ultimately listened, spoke openly and honestly, and handled things maturely. It was also amazing to see all the pieces finally come together for the mystery that has been unfolding the whole series. It added some great action and suspense to the story and it was so satisfying to get that resolution and to see how it all fell into place. Kudos to Lauren Blakely for masterminding that!
Sebastian York was absolutely perfect as the oldest Sloan sibling and Vanessa Edwin continues to amaze me with her talent. They both gave such emotional performances and I could really feel all the love, pain, fear, and joy our characters experienced. The sexy times were scorching and I may have had to fan myself quite a few times with this one. The entire audiobook was such a treat to listen to and featured so many incredible narrators. There are a lot of different characters and players in this series (especially in this book) and I don't think I would have been able to keep them straight without all the different narrators.
There's still one novella left, featuring John and Mindy (yay!), and I can't wait to listen to it!
What can I say but je t'aime. Yes, that’s right. I LOVE this newest release by Lauren Blakely. It was hot, sexy, sensual, suspenseful and oh so dangerously sinful!!!
Ms. Blakely continues to lure her readers to fall head over in heel in love with her characters, prose, and most importantly her seductive storytelling. She has mastered this sinful talent in weaving a story with heart, suspense, passion, and raw emotions.
Sinful Love is a story that tethers us to the magnetizing and provocative depths of second chances and brings forth the notion of true love. Questions and doubts of what ifs are answered. Lauren Blakely doesn’t leave a second of doubt when it comes to the truth. The truth of love. It doesn’t waver. Doesn’t second guess. It is real. Raw. And most importantly, it’s felt. And in this final installment of this amazing and seductive series, Lauren Blakely gives her readers a story where unbridled passion and love will seep through our pores and have us craving for more Sinful love.
I really did not like this story, it actually irritated me enough that I barely finished it (even though I ended up heavily skimming).
I hate stories where the H/h are second best to the dead spouse. Even more depressing is how much Michael always obsessively loved her & only her, and tried to get her back. At a time when she could've got back together with Michael after they first drifted apart due to distance (10 yrs earlier) she instead chose her fiance OVER Michael, because "she’d loved him fiercely" (her husband that is, not Michael).
I felt sorry for Michael, he deserved to be loved the way he loved. He basically pined for her for 18 yrs, held every woman up to her standard, but she did NOT pine for him even a little bit, she was happy & madly in love with her husband who she would've stayed with blissfully forever if he'd lived on. In fact she states right out that whilst married she never thought of Michael at all. I didn't like her for him AT ALL. He deserved someone more loyal to him and who loved him MORE than anyone else, the way he loved her. I really came to dislike Annalise, in particular every time Michael needed to hear that she had always loved him (the way he had her) and she would tell him sorry but she couldn't say that because she didn't, she loved her husband, well, get lost Annalise. You piss me off.
I also hate when there is a long time gap - 18 years apart is way too long.
This was a very depressing read for me.
This goes in my never to read again because it's a shitty 2nd chance romance shelf. Actually I just want to delete this story.
This was a good conclusion to the series. It didn't focus quite as much on the couple, Michael and Annalise, instead we got flashbacks to the father and how the mom got involved in drugs and his murder. I liked getting the backstory since it rounded out everything and gave answers, but it also prevented me from caring as much about Michael and Annalise. I still liked them and they had some good moments together, but it bounced around a lot.
The ending was cute and wrapped up all the Sloan kids (and Marcus) and I liked seeing them all happy. The narrator that did this series was great and I love listening to his sexy voice lol.
Good series overall, fun to listen to.
I have been waiting so long for Michael Sloan's book and the conclusion to the Sinful Nights series, and this one did not disappoint!
Michael Sloan is now coming face to face with Annalise Delacroix his "What if?" girl. She was his "one that got away" and who he unconsciously measures all other women by. They were young and had many teenage dreams, but lost them all when their lives went different directions. And soon after his life took an even harder turn due to a family tragedy. Now eighteen years after their young love affair initially began, they have a chance to meet again.
There is such an intense chemistry and true connection between these two tempered with so much regret and both fond and heartbreaking memories. They are each other's ghost from the past. But the affinity, sparks, and interest come roaring back quickly.
They both have issues and challenges, some of them are the same that broke them apart in the first place. They have both changed over the years due to circumstances. Annalise has suffered loss and has been virtually dormant the last couple of years. She is trying to find a way to live again and move on, but she feels guilt at the thought of doing so.
Michael has been emotionally unavailable, but was not really sure why until seeing her again. He is caring, vulnerable, protective, and at times insecure. But he is also afraid of getting attached again and getting hurt, so his heart has been guarded. But the passionate pull is hard to resist, and they both think they can finally give into temptation, have all of each other, and be able to move on without further regret.
As adults, they are more intense, needy, and desperate to come together. Michael brings out her hidden wild side with his hot, alpha, naughty ways. They both had walls up, but now they are breaking down and unlocking their feelings, passion, and fears. But there are built in complications around their lives that would have to be addressed in order to move forward.
Their pasts, their life experiences, their personal challenges, and distance all affected their ability to believe in a future together and hope to hold onto it. They both also had so much healing to do and fears to overcome.
Are the fates that tore them apart now on their side? Or are they destined to end up hurt and alone again?
There is a lot to this story that is heartfelt, sweet, renewing, and romantic. It is also scorching hot and steamy. Sweet, sensitive Michael is also a dirty-talking beast in the bedroom(or any other location that strikes their fancy). And it is also thought-provoking, intriguing, and suspenseful as they peel back the last layers of the mystery of his father's murder. Finally all of the answers are gradually revealed and the big picture comes into focus.
This installment is about facing the past, living life in the present, and the healing power of love. They have an unforgettable bond that traversed time, distance and heartbreak. The romantic portion was an emotional, tender, sexy, and a heartwarming second-chance love story. But it was also a mystery and suspense tale that finally brought all of the pieces of the puzzle together. It was full of twists and surprises. It was told in many points of view giving us access to many character's motivations and feelings. We got to see the present, but also flashes into the past. It kept me guessing and trying to figure out how it would all come together and it kept me completely enthralled and emotionally invested.
I loved getting more with all of the series regulars: Brent and Shannon, Ryan and Sophie, Colin and Elle, Marcus, Mindy, and John. They have all played a part in solving the mystery and have provided much needed support and guidance for each other. And I get all excited when Lauren throws in some little character crossovers. This series gave us beautiful, fun, sexy love stories while building on a tragic family past and mystery that needed to be unraveled. All along we have gathered information about the case and I love that we finally get the chance to see resolution. I was even surprised at some of the details.
I have adored all of the couples, but I have to say that Michael and Annalise have become my fave of this series. I really enjoyed both of their personalities, passion, and their relationship built on both fondness from the past and an intense bond in the present. Michael Sloan was a swoon-worthy, hot alpha hero with just enough heart, tenderness, loyalty, and protectiveness to make him completely lovable and charismatic. And Annalise was a wonderful match for him both in his past and present. This is coming from a fan who always wanted to see Michael coupled with Mindy (and made that quite clear to Lauren during the plotting stage), so the fact that she won me over is saying something.
I was so thrilled to get a full epilogue. I will miss these characters, but if anyone deserves happiness, it is the Paige-Prince (Sloan) siblings. This was an epic romantic journey and a satisfying conclusion to the mystery embedded in this quartet. It was everything I hoped it would be and more.
This book… THIS BOOK! You guys… I can’t get over how emotional this book was! The sweetness, the angst, the heartbreak… mixed with so much hope over the future. Michael and Annalise’s story is one of second chances, new beginnings, and the past coming back to shock you.
If you’ve read the Sinful Nights series, then you know these books are not just about love stories… no, there’s mystery and suspense and a who-done-it theme that ties them all together. Throughout each book we get bits and pieces of how this group of siblings lives were forever changed. But let me tell you… I’ve followed this series since the very beginning, read each book as they came out.. And I was SHOCKED as this book revealed its secrets.
I’d like to think I’m pretty smart and can see the twists coming but Lauren really outdid herself with this shocking web of deceit. We’re talking stunned silence on my end when it’s all finally revealed! I’m sure Lauren is dancing with glee over this, and she deserves her moment of glory, because this entire series was so well executed it boggles my mind! Every detail starting from book one was perfectly planned out with subtle clues left sprinkled throughout. I still can’t get over the who and the why and the how.
Mystery and suspense aside… The love story between Michael and Annalise was just everything I had hoped it would be… I think Michael is my favorite Sloane brother! I, like everyone else, had been dying to find out just what Michael’s story was… he seemed so dark and edgy and you just didn’t know a whole lot about him. Well, once we get to know Michael, we find out his heart is amazing. He feels EVERYTHING. His loyalty is unprecedented. He’s just an amazing man who has been put through the ringer in so many different ways. His young adult breakup with Annalise, and an almost reunion years later, has really done a number on him.
Enter Annalise, and an invitation to meet and catch up with each other… Well let’s just say that when Michael sees her, it’s all over. So why did these two stay apart for so many years? Well, things happen. Annalise lives in Paris, Michael lives in Las Vegas. Annalise marries a man that she very much loves and was devoted to, and Michael served in the military and built his business up. So how do they end up together now? I won’t tell you, because spoiler – but I will say there is NO cheating. There is nothing to tarnish this epically beautiful chance at being with your first love again. Lauren did an amazing job of making both Michael and Annalise respectful of previous relationships.
I especially loved Annalise’s journey throughout this book. She has so many things to work through when she and Michael see each other and start to form a new, more adult bond. She has guilt, and happiness warring within her. New feelings of affection mixed with doubt. Her emotions were perfectly paced with the growing affection she felt for Michael.
I found myself tearing up so many times throughout Sinful Love… tears of sadness for how much Michael ached to be with Annalise… tears of happiness as they both found their way back to each other… tears of sadness and fright as things come to light and all the secrets are revealed.
Sinful Love is a roller coaster of emotion and was the perfect ending to the Sinful Nights series. I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to leave off with. And that epilogue … just perfect. It brought together every question I had about the future and how they would make things work. In short, this book – this series, is sexy, mysterious, fascinating, and each Sloane man will get you all revved up in his own way. If you haven’t started this series yet, I highly recommend it! 5 stars!!
Angy's Book Review: 5 million stars
Sinful Love is the perfect conclusion for Sinful Nights Series . Now all the Sloan siblings have their HEA and the case is closed. YES!! The case is closed! Phew!! And Lauren didn’t leave anything without an answer. She’s a genius because even little details said in Sweet Sinful Nights, Sinful Desire and Sinful Longing that I didn’t imagine would be important for the case, were brought to light and everything helped to solve the biggest mystery in the history of books! I’m in awe! I’m speechless! It was perfect. And of course, the romantic side of this book was very much needed to help solve the case. In fact, without Michael and Annalise’s love story, this case wouldn’t have been solved and finally closed.
I will not say much about the story, for a reason Lauren has had Michael in the mysterious side. In the previous books she showed the big brother, the protective one, the one who wasn’t able to forgive his mother. Michael was also a lonely heart. He had a past that kept him guarded from having a real relationship. His What-If girl was always in his mind. And all this facts always kept me very interested in this beautiful and perfect character. What I can tell, without giving away any detail of the development of this story is that Michael has the biggest heart of all the Sloan siblings, he loves with everything he has, he protects the people he loves at all cost and he never forgets. I’m sure everyone will love Michael, Annalise and Sinful Love as much as I did.
Thank you Lauren for this amazing series, for the tears, the laughter, the intensity. For the love, the passion, and above all, for your perfect plotting mind that created one of the most amazing series I’ve ever read.
PS: And thank you, Lauren for Mindy and her HEA!!! She deserved it!! <3 #TeamMindy
The full story has finally been revealed for the Paige/Sloan family. It was one crazy journey but one that was excellently written.
Michael had been the strong, supportive oldest brother throughout this series and it was great to finally get his story. His was an emotional second chance romance that ended up impacting his world more than any I would have imagined. I really liked the enduring love Michael and Annalise had. They met in high school but their story spanned eighteen years. They both gained a lot of life experience and were different people from when they first met by the time they get their second chance. But there was this feeling about them that just seemed meant to be.
Their romance was blended so well with the mystery unfolding. This whole series was a great mix of mystery, suspense and romance and I highly recommend it.
The conclusion of the series that has followed the reopening of the 4 main characters' father's murder case. Their mother has been in prison for 18 years for setting up the hit, but professing her innocence which they now have confirmed has been a lie for 18 years. They have uncovered a lot of information, but they may not uncover the biggest piece until it is too late and the siblings or the ones they love are wiped out as well. The story line has been quite intriguing and entertaining as has the individual romance stories woven into the plot line. I'm quite intrigued that a 5th book has been added to unwind the story of the detective behind reopening the case so can't wait to listen to that book as well. I will say the narration of all have been good, but the male narrator's voice in this one is seriously divine!
Lauren Blakey delivers yet another melting, mesmerizing, and magical series, Sinful Nights, which is a must-read for all romantic-suspense lovers! A suspenseful, scorching, and sweet second-chance love story swathed in fate, Sinful Love seizes your senses and captivates you from brilliant beginning to enthralling end, making for one magical masterpiece. Sinful Love is explosive like the Vegas nightlife with a hot love affair, a criminal case begging to be solved, characters that are dynamic, and a plot that is both decadent and deadly. Akin to watching a romantic-thriller unfold, Sinful Love resonates energy and emotion where the adrenaline rush takes over and you succumb to the story that steals your heart and mind like a thief in the night.
It’s always a bittersweet feeling knowing a book is the last in a series, especially a sensational one like the oh-so swoon-a-licious Sinful Nights saga. I wanted to savor Sinful Love like oh-so-delicious chocolate cake as it was the end. I wanted to rush through and help solve the final clues unfolding to wrap up the mystery like Nancy Drew or Scooby Doo. So I savored and sped, savored and sped as I tried not to devour Sinful Love too fast as I truly wanted this brilliant and beautiful book to last.
I love an enticing and emotional second-chance love story, as there is always a bit of angst and growing pains that surface during the years apart. Sinful Love delivers the love. The type that has no boundaries. The love we all seek. Epic love…the love that lasts a lifetime.
“They had been torn apart by time and distance, not by hurt, or anger, or falling out of love. No one had cheated. No one had said unforgivable words.”
Sinful Love is a good old-fashioned love story driven by desire and swathed in suspense. There is no drama between these lovers. Their story is refreshingly real, and I loved every moment. Both sweet and sexy. I can’t help but root for a second-chance love story, especially one that began as young love. Epic love.
Michael Sloan is the responsible and oldest Sloan sibling. Black-haired, blue-eyed, tall, and muscular, Michael runs a security firm with his brother, Ryan. Annalise Delacroix is a beautiful red-haired and green-eyed fashion photographer from Paris. She is also Michael Sloan’s first love. His ‘what if’ girl. The one who slipped away.
“One more taste and he could stop longing for her. Stop lingering. One kiss and he could say good-bye to his first love.”
Ahhh…if only it were that easy. First love is one that is unforgettable. Magical. Memorable.
“She’d never been kissed like this before, but now she demanded more. Her own hungry lips slanted over his, saying mark me.”
Oh, how I would love Michael Sloan to mark me. He is the ultimate alpha---tall, dark, handsome, sexy, protective, and sweet. A refreshing one-woman man.
That one kiss ignites the embers for a passion that has only flickered over the years but now burns with intensity. I swooned and even snort-giggled a time or two.
“I think I treated your hand like a dildo.”
“You did. But I’m perfectly okay with you treating my hand, cock, or my mouth as a sex time anytime you want. Because I want you with every part of me.”
These lovers finally find their way back to each other, but the distance issue that separated them before surrounds them again along with a pesky past and danger that looms, waiting to strike.
“He didn’t know how to take only half of her heart when she had his completely.”
Each sinfully sexy story in this series gets more amazing as bits of the mystery unfold and secrets are shared while the sex and sin smolders. Bold banter throughout this book makes you blush, sizzling sex singes your body from head to toe and has you seeing stars, and a murder mystery continues to grasp your brain, revealing itself slowly, not letting go until it's solved. Lauren Blakely flawlessly executed a suspenseful and sexy series that spans four beautiful and brilliant books, and I enjoyed every minute with the Sloan family. I felt so embedded to these characters that I will miss them and still think there is more of the Sloans to devour…hint, hint.
Sinful Love, like the rest of the Sinful Desire series, is achingly addictive, and a must-read masterpiece. Like the title, Sinful Love is about love…beautiful, epic love, and that special second chance. Lauren Blakely writes sensational, suspenseful, and sinfully sexy stories that satisfy your senses, heat your heart and body, and seduce your soul, rendering you breathless and aching for more.
Review:
“He wanted to cup this moment in the palm of his hands, to carry it and treat it like a precious object, like it could become what he’d once longed for so terribly-a future with her.”
5 sinful Michael Sloan stars!!! I’m so sad this series is over, but man what a ride!!
Michael is fiercely protective and devoted man, but he has to be this way after the way things in his life have gone. Annalise is the only woman that can still get to him, because she’s the only woman who’s ever had his hardened heart in her hands. I can’t even begin to describe how romantic and angsty this book is. Michael is panty melting hot and boy does he know it!! His fierce love for Annalise is enough to make any girl jealous!! The twists and turns in the book are epic and when we finally get the truth about everything you’ll have to pick your jaw up off the floor!!
Lauren Blakely has done it again and while I’m sad it’s over but I loved every second of this series!! Great characters, great story, and amazing author….everything you could ever want in a book series!
~ 5 Second Time Around Stars ~
WOW!!! What an great ending to an already FANTASTIC series!! Lauren Blakely knows how to write a series that is full of love, romance, sexy men, suspense and even some heartache.
Sinful Love is the fourth and final book in Lauren’s Sinful Nights Series. This book was just outstanding. This series is a romantic suspense series. Each of these books are about a new couple but the storyline is a continuing one, so it is not recommended to read these books out of order. I think you would be lost or confused if you did.
Sinful Love was so much more than just a second chance love story between Annalise and Michael, it was a wrap of the whole Who Killed the Sloan’s Father storyline. She did an amazing job wrapping everything up and tying it all together so you knew how every character introduced played a part in this storyline. I also loved how some of the characters from her Seductive Nights series made a cameo appearance ;) It was interesting to see how they tied into this storyline. As always the writing style of this book was spot on, the only thing I had slight trouble with was when she would switch to a different POV and that would be a flashback per say. Towards the end I thought it kind of chopped up the flow of the story….I just wanted answers right away and not flashed back to a memory. You’ll understand once you read this book. But with that said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the journey she took us on with Michael and Annalise.
As I said earlier, this book concluded the mystery part of the storyline, but was also a second chance romance for Michael and Annalise. These two met 18 years ago when she was a foreign exchange student living with Michael’s dad’s BFF. During that year they fell in love and tried to give the long distance thing a try when she left for Paris again, but time and distance were not their friend, and they grew apart. Now 18 years later and Annalise has taken a photography assignment for her job in Las Vegas, where Michael lives. She sends him a letter asking to meet, so they do. From here we are taken on a wonderful journey of first loves finding each other again and learning how to truly love each other again.
I was again thrilled to see all the old couples again in this book and also getting to know Marcus more and seeing how his life turns out. Even John Winston has a happy ending in this book…I was excited to see that :)
So as I have said in each of my reviews of this series….You need to read this book/series. You won’t be sorry and I can say that you will probably become addicted to Lauren’s books like I am. I can’t wait for her next release!!!
Sinful Love is the final book in the Sinful Nights series. Lauren is one of my top five go-to-authors. I just read everything she writes. Some of my favorite series' of all time are Lauren Blakely's. Lauren's writing just keeps getting better and better. She makes you care about these characters. You laugh with them, you cry with them. You celebrate with them. She writes the sexiest book boyfriends and the smartest leading ladies!
I have been Team Michael from the start. There was just something about his seriousness, his loyalty to his family and his heart. I've been looking forward to his book for a very long time. Michael isn't the same man he was years ago. Before his father was killed, he was laid back, fun and in love. Now, years later while his father's murder is still unsolved, he gets a letter that he can't say no to. The only girl he's ever really loved wants to see him again. He says yes. Seeing her again brings back all of his memories and hers. Once he gets a taste of her he can't let her go again. Their relationship quickly becomes explosive. It's fast and hard and soft and sweet at the same time. They can't get enough of each other. Annalise is badass! She knows what she wants and she asks for it. The only thing holding her back is her fear to love again. Michael wears his heart on his sleeve and can't help but lay it out at her feet. When Annalise remembers something from the days before Michael's father's death, the case heats up. Can Michael and Annalise make a long distance relationship work this time around? Are her memories the key to solving the murder? I loved this story! Michael is just so…great. I love his intensity and his love for this woman. Together they are perfect! I didn't see the twists and turns coming and I loved being surprised! One of my other favorite characters got a little happily ever after too!
He arched a brow. “Why not? Do I seem like I have a dislike for drinks that are delicious?”
She shook her head. “No. I’d just have figured beer, or scotch, or something strong and manly.”
He held up a hand. “Wait. Now I’m not manly? Because I ordered champagne?”
God, why were forearms so delicious? But she knew the answer. They spelled strength and power, and the ability for a man to anchor himself over a woman as he took her.
His jaw was square, his cheekbones strong, his lips so fucking kissable. His ice-blue eyes lit up when their gazes met, a match setting her ablaze with his heat.
He loved and hated this moment.
This was just a fucking kiss.
But it was so much more.
He’d never kissed like this before. Fierce and greedy. Needy and dreamy.
He wanted to live in this kiss.
3 words. My favorite book!
Yes, this is my absolutely favorite book from Lauren Blakely.
We already knew Michael from the previous books, he's the more reserved of the Sloan family, we knew him like somebody too guarded of his feelings and the people who he lets in his life BUT in this book we get to know the real Michael, funny, romantic, flirty, and the man who wears his heart in his sleeve when it comes to Annalise.
Annalise was Michael's first love when they were only 16 years old. She's a French exchange student and they quickly started a young romance. However after she gets back to France they try to keep their relationship but after several years this one comes to an end.
I quickly fell in love with Annalise because she's really honest about her feelings. She already lost someone she loved and feels guilty about having this feelings toward Michael. She wants to welcome all she feels but at the same time she's afraid of how strong this feelings are, and she always talks about this with Michael.
Michael was totally a surprise for me. I never thought I'll meet this side of him, but we get to see his old self thanks to Annalise return.
He'd always loved Annalise and having her in his life again makes him hopeful of a future together. He's not afraid to show his feelings, however he's afraid that maybe is to soon to voice them and that she doesn't feel the same way toward him.
“I know how to say I love you and I’ve always loved you,
and I want you, and you’re the only woman I’ve ever loved, and I don’t know how to stop loving you. I love you, and that’s just a fact of my existence. "
And finally we get to know the true behind Thomas murder (Shannon, Ryan, Colin and Michael's dad). I must admit that I cried for this old man and I wish he was alive. We already knew the love his children had for him but to see all the things he wanted to do to give his children a better life was so heartbreaking. And to see this close relationship he had with Michael and the support he showed toward his romance with Annalise was what made me miss him and respect him so much.
This is a second chance romance like no other I have ever read. Michael Sloan was once a carefree teen in love with a French foreign exchange student named Annalise. But, time, distance and circumstance kept them apart. One chance meeting in Marseille 10 years ago sealed their fate. They both went on living their lives apart, now all these years later a letter from Annalise to Michael will send both of them in a direction they never expected. Can a first love become a new love? Or will time, distance, and circumstance tear these two lovers apart once again?
The chemistry between Michael and Annalise crackles with a white hot intensity whenever they are near one another. Even after 18 years, the flame has never dimmed. But, time, death, and losing his first and only love has hardened Micheal. He doesn't trust that Annalise can love him with the same fervor as he loves her. And Annalise is having a hard time moving on from the death of her husband. This love story has all the feels, it's everything you want in a second chance romance and so much more.
Along with a re-kindled love affair, Michael is still fighting for the truth about his father's death. He needs to find out who else was involved, little does he know Annalise may hold the last puzzle piece to this 18 year old mystery. I loved all the mystery and intrigue that coincided with this blossoming romance. I particularly enjoyed the flashbacks to the past, especially the ones with Michael's father. This is such a poignant and bittersweet part of the story. And if that isn't enough, there is also a glimpse into the shady underground of Las Vegas. A familiar cast of supporting characters add depth and fullness to this exciting story.
Alas, it's time to say farewell to the Sloan family, it's been quite a ride with this bunch and I'm sad their story is at an end. But, I'm also happy with how everything turned out. I have to add I love everything Lauren Blakely writes, but she really brought it with this one. I can't see how it could have been any better, I really loved this book.
Sinful Love was the perfect way to end the Sinful Nights series. In fact, it was my favorite book in the whole series. It wowed me from start to finish. I loved everything about it - every piece of plot, every relationship.
I loved Michael and Annalise's story. Their characters and their relationship had a depth and felt like something out of real life. It started off as rocky as one would expect as former loves, but that went away very soon because Michael and Annalise were perfect for each other. Fans of second chance romances will love Sinful Love. Their emotions felt very real, as did their feelings for each other. The sex scenes were hot and wonderfully written.
There was another thing I really loved about this book and that was Annalise and how she was able to love two men, was able to marry another man after Michael and then find love with Michael. You don't see that a lot in books. There's a lot of pining or love triangles, but Annalise's story really impressed me. I don't want to give away spoilers, but it just added more to the story for me. It wasn't simply finding her first love again; there was more to it.
I have been impatiently waiting for answers regarding Thomas's death since book one, and I was not disappointed with the answers we finally get in Sinful Love. I was actually really impressed by the complexity of the Royal Sinners gang, how deep it went and how everything was connected. There were flashback chapters to go more in depth into what happened in the past, and they were a joy to read. They added something more to the story, so it wasn't just about Michael and Annalise getting together. The mystery also had such a huge role in this novel, more so than any of the others in the series.
I'm really sad this series had to end, but this is the best conclusion we could've gotten. I am fully satisfied with this ending. Thank you for this series, Lauren. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
At long last Michael’s story! I have been dying for his story since My Sinful Nights and this by far was my favourite of all the books in the series. All the questions about the Sloans’ fathers murder were answered and what an incredible cast of narrators in this one. Sebastian York and Vanessa Edwin could not have been more perfectly cast as Michael and Annalise. Michael has been the strongest brother out of all the Sloan’s. The one that everyone looked up to. He is protective, loving, kind and has a huge heart. His heart has always belonged to Annalise. The two neither got over each other so when they see each other again after being apart for many years they were inevitable. The story telling in this one was a perfect mix of romance and suspense and Lauren Blakely knocked it out of the park with this one. 5++ STARS!
Another winner released by Lauren Blakely! I absolutely LOVED and DEVOURED Michael and Annalise's story. Just when I didn't think the series could get any better, we're thrown for a complete twist with how the mystery behind the Sloan's father was murdered. The huge twist comes at the very end of Sinful Longing and let me just say, I was chomping at the bit to find out WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED NEXT. I was thrown for a loop and left completed shocked with my mouth hanging open... Talk about the mother load of surprises...
"His pulse hammered in his neck, and he hoped she couldn’t tell how goddamn hard it was to stand this close to her, to be so near to her, and not talk about the things he most wanted to know. The why. Why she was here? What did she want? Did she ever think of him?"
Michael Sloan was always a mystery to me, I never knew much about him except that he loved his family and would do anything for them, with the exception of his mother. What I never expected to see is this romantic side of him and how he's been missing the love of his life many, many years later. I enjoyed delving into the past of young love with Annalise but I also adored their story in the present and all the beautiful new memories they create. It's no secret their love affair ended due to the complexity of a long distance relationship, but what happens when they find themselves in the same predicament once again? How will Annalise move on from her love of her deceased husband? Will Michael and Annalise be able to work out the distance this time where love conquers all.
"How do you just have a drink with someone you once thought you'd marry? Someone who was your everything? She'd been his rock; he'd been her hope."
Sinful Love is another beautiful yet mysterious story and the epic conclusion to the Sinful Nights series. Get ready for the twists and turns that leave you shocked, frustrated and flipping pages faster than you can possibly expect. I can't decide what I loved more, the story of Michael and Annalise or the mystery behind the murder of Thomas Paige-Prince. I can't fully describe how invested I was in EVERY single moment of this series, it's addicting, mysterious, edgy and has all sorts of HAWTNESS that we've come to love and expect from a Lauren Blakely novel.
While I loved Sinful Love and how the story was beautifully wrapped up at the very end, It is tearing me up to say goodbye to my favorite characters who I will truly miss. Here's to hoping Ms. Blakely writes a Sinful Nights Novella to feed my addiction of the Sloan family ;-) Sinful Love is a bittersweet ending to the Sloan family finding love, long overdo closure and answers to a horrific tragedy that's always left them wondering. Ms. Blakely knows exactly how to stab you with her words to leave you bleeding out but, she is also the perfect storyteller to stitch you back up and leave you with the warm and fuzzies that is true love. 5 epic and emotional stars to a beautiful Sloan finale.
Holy moly! What I was expecting was a love story, second chance love, a little bit of down and dirty maybe. What I got was an epic conclusion to the mystery that has been surrounding the Paige-Prince/Sloane siblings for 18 years. Oh and yes, a second chance sexy romance in the mix. How does an author tie in all these stories, all these characters, all the timeframes and all those loose ends? I have no idea, but Lauren Blakely pulled it off. After I’ve lived and loved this family for the last four books I can tell you it was absolutely perfect, such a clever, flawless, intriguing story, full of suspense, drama and let’s not forget the sexy time, because, no one writes sexy time quite like Ms Blakely. So many emotions, so many clever plot twists, and a truly beautiful dedication to finish the series off.
PS - audio excellent
Sebastian York, the perfect Michael. Vanessa Edwin the perfect What If Girl, Annalise. Then we have all the additional narrators perfectly narrating all the additional characters. This story really lends itself to audio, especially with such a fantastic team of narrators.
SINFUL LOVE As I said before I am in tears since 70% of the book, and the story has some many edges, corners and twists that have you floating all along the way. The kind of book you can’t stop reading and at the same time don’t want it to finish. No doubt an incredible story of love, family ties, courage, faith, and hot as hell characters that make impossible to choose which you love most. Sinful Love is the most thrilling end that this story can have, surprising you in every chapter. Thanks to Lauren for creating this people and giving us the opportunity of knowing them all. You definitely will love this book and would want to read them all four over and over again.
..ha.. ha.. when you read book 4 from a series without realizing you haven't read 1-3. #awkward
Well I know what I need to do this October.. read books 1-3 stat. Other than that, Sinful Love was an okay book. Probably would've made more sense to me if I actually did a good job and read 1-3 first but I have zero regrets.
In this book, you will meet Michael and Annalise. Not much really happened in this book (which I totally get is my fault for reading out of order) so I wasn't invested in them from start to finish. I did, however, like getting to know more about this family. I feel like this was also giving me some 50 shade vibes.. especially with the whole flashbacks so I'm hoping this series is a lot better than that one.
That being said, now that I know his family history and little snippets of basically everything.. I should definitely know what's going on in everyone's head with the first book - right? Here's to hoping!
So before I begin I should mention my love for Michael. It's always been there. It was there from the beginning. I would message Lauren and ask how he was? That is how obsessed I was about him. I needed him. I wanted him. Let me just say he was so much better than I thought he would be!!!
Every single book that come out before this series left you hanging with more answers. Craving more. Wanting more. Needing More. This is the work that Lauren Blakely does best!
So now my journey for Michael started. Daily I would send little messages. Is he ready? Is it time? Till one day it was.
Intense. Devoted. Protective.
Michael Sloan is all of that and so much freaking more. He's changed. You see when he was younger he was the laid-back, carefree happy kid. Till that one tragic day changed him. Now he's not one to be used. Not one to be messed with. Not one to beat around the bush!
Life changed him. Hardened him.
Under that hardness. Under that tough exterior lays a boy who fell head over heels in love. There was once a french student exchange student who moved to town. She left taking a piece of him with her. The piece he refuses to give to anyone again. His Heart!
When they two of them finally collide, after many many many many years apart.
It's tender and savage, gentle and rough, and makes them both hungry for more of this
Both of them treading lightly. Both of them afraid of what tomorrow holds. Both afraid to hope. Both afraid to be left again.
He was more handsome than ever. Imagine that.
The pretties boy in america was now the hottest man she'd laid eyes on in a a long, long time. But lusty admiration wasn't all she felt as she drank in the sight of Michael Sloan.
But she isn't back in Las Vegas for long. She is trying her hardest to continue and move on from her own heartbreak. Trying to put one foot in front of the other, but when Michael touches her, when he looks at her in that one simple way, she's taken back.
The way he looked at her told her this night had the potential to take her breath away
For the first time in years, she is taken back, these feelings both thrill and scare the heck out of her.
But it doesn't stop her. It doesn't him. Nothing and no one can stop them from continuing.
Kissing Annalise again. It was as if a new map were being written, a new route sketched out. So this was what is was like to kiss her more than once.
Sublime
Let me explain to you how I felt during this love story. It wasn't smooth sailing. It was hot, God was it every hot. Squirming hot.
It was fresh and exciting. Keeping their love alive, all the new places to visit and see.
But it was sad at times, so sad that I had to step away. Because you see Michael is one that thinks that once you fall in love with someone you can't love someone else. He doesn't get that the heart can love so many different people at the same time! He learns. You see Annalise teaches him. Making their love story so much more special to me.
But it's not just a love story its like a roller coaster ride to find out who killed his father. He's on a mission to finally close the book and heal. Finally be that carefree man again.
Now this mystery, holy mother of all that is there out there, was there every twists. The twist the turns, the ups the downs, the zig zags it was so good and the end result was something that left you speechless and in Awe.
Not only has Lauren killed it with another series, her writing has hooked me in even more. I read each and ever single word in this book and I cherished it.
She made me feel it all!
Well done, well freaking done!!!
“I never stopped loving you. Even when we fell apart, I wanted to find my way back to you.” ♥MICHAEL♥
Writing style: Third person omniscient POV
Cover design: It’s not my favorite of the four covers in the Sinful Nights series, but I like that it continued the theme of sexy abs with a maroon and pink color palette.
Lead Characters:
Annalise Delacroix – a French native, widowed photographer who met Michael during her high school year abroad in Vegas before his father was murdered
Michael Sloan – co-owns and runs Sloan Protection Services with his younger brother, Ryan; security entrepreneur, 34 years old and the oldest of the Sloan siblings; subconsciously carried an 18-year torch for Annalise
Supporting characters: It helped me to list all the characters since there are quite a lot of them.
Setting: Las Vegas mainly; also NYC and Paris
Michael and Annalise's 2nd chance love story was the perfect choice to end the Sinful Nights series. Work brought Annalise back into Michael's life, and this time they were adults free to embrace the possibility of becoming an adult 'we.' I cheered them on as each dealt with their own anxiety about their irresistible chemistry and falling even deeper than they had as young teenagers in love.
And Thomas, gah! I loved really getting to know Michael's dad Thomas via flashbacks and couldn't stop wishing that his fate had been different. The mystery surrounding his death was finally solved and his children finally got their closure and justice for him. We also have a cool epilogue that updates us on the other Sloan siblings and friends that we came to care about over the course of 4 novels.
COOL QUOTE – ANNALISE:
‘Now, they were both thirty-four, and her heart stuttered just from being near him. This torch might have flickered to a soft, ashen glow in years past, but it could be turned fiery and bright in an instant.’
REVEALING QUOTE – MICHAEL:
‘No one had ever made him feel this way. All the other women were right. They had been completely right in their assessment when they’d said to him: You’re in love with someone else.
He was.
Irrevocably.
This was his fate in life, to fall in love with the same woman over and over.’
CUTE SCENE:
“Hi.”
“Hi.”
Silly grins and knowing looks passed between them.
“Fancy meeting you here.” Her voice was laced with flirtation, and she loved the way it sounded as she talked to him. She thrilled at the way it felt to slide into this kind of woozy chemistry.
I did a partial dual format read - 75% e-book and 25% audiobook - of this excellent finale novel, narrator Josh Goodman did a great job with his intonation and vocal choices for each character. I'll definitely be on the look out for more novels narrated by him.
The Sinful Nights series is by far some of Lauren Blakely's best writing to date. The way she has seamlessly combined sexy romance that always has plenty of heart with a secondary story involving murder for hire is beyond brilliant. I have devoured every single word, fallen for each and every hero and even now wouldn't mind starting all over again. Yup it's that good.
With Sinful Love, it's finally Michael Sloan's turn. The oldest of the 4 siblings, he has always been the caretaker, the one who shielded his brothers and sister when everything changed and the Sloan family's world was turned upside-down because of their mother's very costly mistakes. As his world imploded, so did his heart when the girl he loved went back to her native France and he lost her forever. Or so he thought.
When Annalisse Delacroix suddenly pops up in Las Vegas, it's as if they are still two lovesick teenagers with the whole world at their feet. The feelings are there but so is the hurt. A hurt not forgotten all these years later that they have been apart for so long when they were both certain they would've been together forever.
Oh my. This second chance romance stole my breath away. The sexual tension, the longing, the absolute adoration both Michael and Annalisse have for each other could be felt with every turn of the page. Discovering truths about their time apart and cursing the lack of available communication when it might have been so much easier now, was at times very painful. You could feel the sadness at time lost, yet there is that distinctive ray of hope that perhaps that now that they are older and wiser, that maybe their time has finally come. To watch as they carefully navigate through familiar yet uncharted waters, fearful of losing their hearts once again, had me on pins and needles. I was as anxious as they were and mentally prepared myself for disappointment. But in true Lauren Blakely fashion, I will just say that every difficult step of their journey was not for naught.
The murder mystery first described in Sweet Sinful Nights is finally brought to a close. Yet just when you think things are finally all tied up and squared away, you find out it's not. I won't elaborate any further except to say that Lauren Blakely is one very clever writer. Almost diabolical. But that's between you and me. And still, I am in awe of the way she kept me glued to my Kindle for the past year, wanting to know every detail in the death of Thomas Paige and the events leading up to it. Let me just tell you this: she does not disappoint.
What more can I say except that Sinful Love was THE perfect conclusion to this series. It had everything I could've asked for and more. When I say Lauren Blakely writes sex with heart like no other, I mean it and with this book, no words were ever truer. Despite all the sorrow at time wasted, the passion shared by Michael and Annalisse is beyond sensual. It is life changing and powerful and never gratuitous. You will never skim over a sex scene in a Blakely book, that I can promise.
If I could give this book and series 10 stars I would. It is quite simply exceptional.
Lauren Blakely has finished off this series very nicely with this one! I love how her writing is so passionate and makes you feel such a part of the characters lives when you are reading their story. The whole Sinful Nights series was really great!
This book is Michael Sloan's story and he gets to meet back up with his "What If" girl, Annalise. These two have a history together that we have read about before, but Annalise got married to someone else and Michael thought that he had lost his chance. When some unfortunate events happen and Annalise's husband ends up dying, Michael knows that if she ever reaches out to him again that he is going to have to do everything in his power to make sure that she does not get away again. When Annalise contacts Michael through a letter she wrote him, he jumps at the opportunity to be able to get to see Annalise again. How will things be between them though? Will everything be different now after what all Annalise has gone through?
When Michael and Annalise finally meet again after all those years of being away from each other, the chemistry between them is definitely not lost. Lauren Blakely gives us a strong Alpha Male in Michael that takes what he wants when he wants it and doesn't really care about where they are. That being said, these two leave no place off limits for their steamy encounters once they get back together.
While Michael and Annalise are so happy to be back together and seeing each other once again, they both have their pasts and issues that they are still working through. Michael has been told in previous relationships that he has tried that he is not all there emotionally. Only until Michael gets Annalise back in his life does he really realize that they were all right. Michael was waiting on the one person that he had given everything to previously so he had no room to give himself again. Annalise is still trying to get over the loss of her husband and the survivor's guilt that goes along with it that makes her feel guilty for moving on.
This story is a heart warming second chance love story that makes you realize that even though someone is gone and you think there is no chance of getting them back, fate has a way of changing things. Love can overcome all sort of boundaries and make you realize that just living in the now and taking in everything that is offered to you is sometimes all we can ask. I love how Annalise learned how to love another man even though she had been in love before Michael. There is just a special connection between these two!
I also love how Lauren Blakely gave us all the missing pieces to Thomas's murder and that whole situation as well. I feel like things ended with all my questions answered with this series. Such a great series and I can not wait to see what is next for Ms. Blakely!
