I did like the couple couple times..but i hated Cherrys back and forth.. why would she even believe her crazy ass ex who almost abused her over Damon who has been upfront and honest with her? And when damon tells her his story she gets all i have to protect damon from my ex so push him away.. HE IS A COP HE KNOWS DANGER!! LIKE COME ON!! lorddds

Beside that I'm glad cherry didnt go back and stand her ground and didn't give her ex any sign she wanted him. Now as for Damon.. boy why the fk did you wait 6 months?? Now i can understand relationships wise waiting she just got out of one..but to just drive by and not try to talk to her? I love they had friendships outside of the relationship cherry and Logan and Damon and his partner/cop friend.

You know what i found savage them almost having sex with the ex bf locked in another room upstairs during the storm lol they only did oral.. I wanted more lol

No ow drama but tons of om drama (xrazy stalker ex), drama, sexy times, tiny background chara, no virgins

Recommend-maybe

To me, this book is a lot like a donut. It's a delicious guilty pleasure which is fun while it lasts, but not necessarily memorable in the long term. For Love and Donuts is a fun romance about baker Cherry, who's getting back on her feet after leaving an abusive relationship, and Damon, a cop who's mentoring a foster kid. Cherry is a little wishy-washy sometimes, but in the end, she's the one who saves the day.

Not worth the read.

It’s not very often that I don’t enjoy even a bad bbw romance but this one is not even worth finishing. The way the author writes about the lead female is pitiful. She makes her character out to be a flake who doesn’t know her own mind and isn’t capable of making a single rational decision. Yes as a bbw sometimes we have body issues but for goodness sake we aren’t idiots incapable of knowing ourselves.
One minute she has the woman rushing like a fool into a dangerous situation and then next she gets upset because a decent man is doing the right thing. Real women do not behave in this manner. Makes me think the author is a male trying to write like a woman. Thanks but no thanks.

So, going in, I was expecting to find your typically sweet, OTT romance between a curvy baker and a hunky cop. What I got, instead, was so much more.

First off, the heroine was fairly grounded in reality and even somewhat likeable. Her reaction to her psycho ex's abuse was understandable; even after six months of being broken up, she still worried about falling for a guy that was just like him, or worse. Even better, her fears actually came through in the author's writing, rather than the author relying on a vague explanation of "Oh, I'm just not ready to date yet." It made the heroine finally able to break down her walls for the hero all the more rewarding. I mean, yes, it was frustrating when Cherry made the assumption that Damon was trying to control her just because said abusive ex was stalking her and Damon feared for her safety. But thankfully, a friend of hers quickly got her to see the light and that was the end of that. Plus, the TLC she'd lavished on Damon after he'd spent all day looking after everyone else was just too sweet!

Now, speaking of the hero, Damon wasn't just your run-of-the-mill M/F romance hero who showed up to look good and protect his woman — though, Goddess knows I love me some alpha, protective heroes with muscles for days. He was so sweet and understanding of Cherry and her situation. He tried not to pressure her into going out with him, though he was certainly upfront about his intentions towards her. It was actually rather refreshing that he didn't want to be Cherry's knight-in-shining-armor, but rather, equal partners, able to lean on her just as much as she's able to lean on him. Now, he was no saint, especially given his troubled past, but he always tried to do what was right. As a matter of fact, he mentored a foster kid named Jamal, trying to steer the kid away from bad influences and keep him out of trouble with the law as much as possible. That particular storyline ended up cropping up quite often, much to the book's benefit, and Jamal even played an integral part in the main story later on. (As a side note: I'm glad Jamal had a foster family that actually cared about him, but I was kinda hoping Damon and Cherry would've ended up adopting him.)

Aside from the main characters, a couple of side characters shone as well, namely Damon's partner Karina and Cherry's BFF Logan. As for the story, Cherry and Damon's chemistry progressed rather organically I felt, and the plot was compelling enough to leave me on the edge of my seat during the suspenseful parts, tug on my heartstrings during the romantic moments, and, let's just say, fog up my glasses during the steamy parts. I mean, sure, I could've done without the rather consistent use of the c-word found throughout the book. Granted, it was usually in a sexual context, but even still, if the author had chosen to scale back her usage to just two or three instances overall, I wouldn't have minded as much.

Overall Verdict: 9 donuts out of 10

Between 2-3 stars. A lot I liked, but I really, really didn't like Cherry, and it's hard to round up when you dislike one of the leads so much.

Cherry (h) owns a bakery, making the best donuts in town. Damon (H) loves the donuts (as all his cop buddies tease him) and is more than a little interested in the baker too. Unfortunately his interest is sidetracked by a domestic disturbance call - to Cherry's. How can he move forward when she's still trying to sort through the fallout of her last relationship? Add in stalker behavior from said ex, a potential juvenile delinquent trying to find his way, and a tornado, and things become a lot more complicated for this cop and his donuts.

I loved Damon. He was alpha enough without being an alphahole (heck, his best friend is female!). He loved donuts (usually in these stories, it's the female characters who are acting all moaning, groaning, blissful over food). He has a needy cat that he loves. He likes baseball and kids and his job. He's upfront about his rough past and what's brought him to where he is. So many pluses.

Unfortunately, Cherry didn't live up to her side of the story. She waffles a lot, has rare moments of backbone drowned out by a lot of weakness, and is quite frankly, frequently TSTL. Big TSTL moment? The tornado hits. Damon shows up, and she's done nothing to prep for this major storm - no boards on the windows, no furniture moved in the cafe, nothing. No, all of that's done after Damon gets there - i.e. after the rain's coming down and the storm's really hitting. And then the tornado itself hits and she's trying to run upstairs because "I needed to save my bakery." I get being worried about it - her pride and joy, in addition to her livelihood. But the tornado is hitting right then - what does she think she can actually do, besides get herself hurt? No matter how much of a 'big girl' she is, she won't put up much of a challenge to winds that can take out houses. But she gets mad at the guys trying to stop her anyway. I was really mad with her waffling after they hooked up, though. It was bad before (when she was still debating ever dating again) but it got worse after they actually got together. Was very, very glad that Logan pointed out what an idiot Cherry was being. On one hand, we have Michael - known liar and abuser and posing a threat to her - and on the other, we have Damon - nothing but honest and upfront about his temper and violent past and how he's turned it around to work in a job to protect people. But Cherry waffles about who to believe, and about how to proceed. She even gets mad at Damon for talking to her about her safety now that Michael has escaped - in her eyes, he wants to "own her" just like Michael did, that she's "his territory". Even though he has said nothing of the kind, and it's his freaking job to protect people from crazy stalkers!!! Even if it's not his girlfriend being threatened!! And when she reaches the point in her dithering that "he could be with someone like Karina," who'd be a better fit that she was... I was done. Karina. The woman that Damon described over and over as family, as a sister, as his best friend. But Cherry's now acting so insecure that she's matching him up with someone whom he's never expressed any interest in? Like I said - done with her. I was so so glad that Logan sat her down and basically spelled out how Cherry was being an idiot.

There was also a lot of extraneous plot details that were introduced and never went anywhere. Like they needed to be there so that this could be tagged as a BBW romance, but not ever really developed into anything. Like Cherry and her weight-conscious mother. One scene, another mention, but really, absolutely no effect on the overall plot. But it wouldn't be a BBW romance if we didn't have family members commenting on weight! Basically, the whole BBW plot in general was an afterthought. She could have been any shape or size for how much difference it made to the plot - her insecurities were all more about trusting people rather than her weight or appearance.

I liked the epilogue.

Alternating 1st person POV. No OW drama and no cheating. Love triangle (in that Cherry waffled a lot about believing her ex) but really more just OM drama. Weak h had quite a few moments where I was yelling at the book - she really negated the positives with the H. Good side characters, and a great platonic MF friendship with Damon and his partner. Fast read and pretty low angst, aside from Cherry's dithering. HEA with epilogue. No cliffhangers, though we get a mention that Logan finds a beau, so I'm betting her story comes soon.

Would I read more in the series/by this author? Sure. It was a fast and fairly light read with mostly enjoyable characters. Well written with very few typos or mistakes too. I'd read more - not all h characters can be as weak and irritating as Cherry, right?

2 1/2 stars. NOT A SAFE READ. I wanted to like it but it was freaking frustrating. First off I wasn’t expecting it to be such a depressing read. There’s domestic violence, troubled foster kid, and more than one person ends up in the hospital. On top of that, they could have had the abusive ex in the book without all the different scenes. He was like a bad penny; he just kept showing up and it got redundant and annoying. The h was also frustrating. She had a super annoying personality and her indecisiveness about the H went on way too long. Shed get mad at the H for wanting to help her and underestimated the seriousness of her ex’s crazy. I hated how author/characters tried to downplay the ex’s actions. He was a rapist (or attempted rapist at the least), he was an abuser, and a stalker. When he chokes the H, the H doesn’t press charges even thought he’s a freaking cop and just lets him go knowing that he’s not taking no for an answer and has up the ante with physical violence. The ex attacks the H more than once and does a bunch of totally heinous and illegal stuff and at the end the h is still saying she feels bad for him but she’ll have to press charges because he need to pay for his indiscretions. She used the word INDISCRETIONS. I don’t know what the point of trying to humanize the bad guy was because it didn’t work and left me frustrated. Attempted murder is not an indiscretion. Stalking someone and planning on breaking into their house is not an indiscretion. Shooting someone at point blank range is not an indiscretion. Frick I need to find a light sexy read to get over this book. Ugh. Maybe 2 1/2 stars was too generous because I think I hated this.

Cherry owns a bakery and Damon has been coming in for her donuts for awhile. He’s attracted to her but doesn’t ask her out. Damon is a police officer and is one day with his partner Karina called to a domestic disturbance call. Turns out to be Cherry and her boyfriend having a fight. He hasn’t hit her yet but things were escalating. After relocating Cherry, Damon leaves her alone for months. He patrols her shop and her residence but doesn’t go in. He feels she doesn’t need the reminder of the terrible day. He gives in and goes into the shop one day. The two flirt a bit and slowly start a relationship. Some back and forth with her, he’s pretty up front, lots of drama with the ex. You’re constantly told how fit and buff Damon is but he is bested twice by the ex, who you are told is smaller in stature. The ex even shots Damon! All ends well and you get an epilogue one year later.
There was to much going on, Damon’s misspent youth, his mentee, the storm, the ex, Cherry’s questioning of Damon over the crazy ex, and Karina getting hurt. A few of those could have been done away with to make a good story. Every time it was getting good something would get thrown in and interrupt the flow.

I'm sorry to say there was more I didn't care for with the story than I did. Why would you wait six month to go in Cherry's bakery after helping her get away from her ex-boyfriend. Especially if you had continue thoughts of dating her?? Why did Cherry have so much trouble deciding whether her ex or the cop was the "good guy"?? I did like the part of his little brother/big brother helping Jamal to get away from the gang influence. Cherry mentoring Poppy to become a baker was another great
part of the story. There were a few good scenes behind Cherry and her cop (future HEA). It is a toss up.....to read or not to read??

Donut Love

Officer Damon Langley has a routine, every morning he stops at Cherry Blossom Bakery for a Boston Cream donut, coffee and a look at owner Cherry Maraschino.
Cherry enjoys seeing Damon daily, until he is one of the officers to help her leave her abusive ex. An ex who has recently started to stalk her. Now Damon is staying away, fearing the sight of him will bring back bad memories. How can Damon protect a woman, who doesn’t need protecting?
This was a great, quick steamy as hell story, where Damon and Cherry burn up the sheets! Check it out today!

This book was quite the ride. There were moments that I absolutely loved, and then others that I contemplated putting this down even knowing this was a novella.

Honestly, if this hadn't been a short novella, I probably wouldn't have finished it.

I knew going in that it would be a romance featuring doughnuts, but I was really hoping for a more steamy read, especially after that sweet nibble.

This was a very well written and enjoyable read! The characters are believable, but the action scenes not so much. The action scenes were a little blurry. However, there's a goodly amount of passionate spice and those scenes are well choreographed leaving little to the imagination. Lots of little editing hiccups, but nothing overly distracting. I really enjoyed the interactions between the characters, even the sub-characters. A good book.

Cop and Baker

Overall, it was a decent story. I felt that the heroine was a bit bi-polar. One minute, she's all in, the next she's full-stop. It's amazing that the hero didn't get whiplash. And while I appreciate the "drama" in this story, I did have an issue with some of the police procedure (always call for backup, always), and the fact that one bad relationship turned the heroine anti-relationship? It did have it's moments, and I loved Poppy, Jamal, Logan and Karina.

Cherry Lives in the Danger Zone

Cherry, as a character, needs a professional to process boundaries with, more than she needs a police officer who can’t forget her from her lowest moment. Damon is a good guy, a real “white hat,” and also… Cherry puts herself and everyone else close to her in danger because she can’t get a clue. This is clearly something that took me out of the romance feeling.

What a crime!

This could have been a half way decent book. But you had to make Cherry extra-special stupid. Wow! Talk about setting women back a few decades! She can do it herself, no help, no protection from anyone which leads to everyone around her getting hurt. Too bad Damon didn't end up with Logan. I gave it 2 stars, should have been 1!!!!!

Easy Beach read

Cherry and Damon are the lead couple and their story is cute with an ex-boyfriend who finds time to run amuck along with a bad storm. Plenty of heat interspersed with some suspense, sadly Damon’s “Little Brother” seems to have been forgotten in the epilogue. 21/2 ⭐️⭐️🌟Stars is my take what is yours?

Sweet and Spicy

Cherry and Damon’s story has it’s ups and down and is totally worth the read. They did not meet in the best of circumstances and Cherry’s past just want to hang on. Demon can stay away from Cherry’s donuts or is it just Cherry?

Read on and find out in this action packed romance.

Little boring

I felt like the story just kinda plodded along. I don’t know if it was boring or just didn’t engage enough. Also I’m not a fan of the surprise dropped in the epilogue. There were two of them and I wasn’t a fan of how the one she surprised him with is trending to be a norm in stories I’ve recently been reading. You don’t need it for an HEA.

Nope

40% and I was done. I honestly couldn't understand the style of writing. It's like the author couldn't figure out what she would like her characters to be like. She wants Damon to be an alpha but not really and cherry is insecure but not. Very confusing and immature writing

As a curvy girl, I love this story. Cherry is such a strong character. And my god to I wish I had a Man like Damon. The only thing that bugged me is that she got mad at Damon for not calling her when he was in danger. HE'S A COP! He is in danger every day. I would love to see a book for Poppy or Logan they were both great female characters. with both Cherry and Damon making appearances.
