I know he has a different book documenting all his claims in this book. Not having read that, this book was somewhat frustrating. While there are some interesting anecdotes, nothing is very rigorously argued or proven.

The stuff on the early Church seems a little thin, but the later chapters are really neat forays into social history and Church life.
