As Demeter loses Persephone to the Underworld, many mothers feel they are losing their daughters during the adolescent years. In this book, a Jungian analyst gives mothers positive, solution-oriented strategies for minimizing conflict and for coming to terms with their changing role.
Gives great insight into the mother-daughter relationship... I just completed the book and already find it applicable/useful. You will want your own copy to mark-up, highlight, take notes, and keep as a reference.
This book is much too liberal for my taste. It assumes that all girls will drink, smoke, lie to their parents and become sexually active at an early age. It was worth what I paid for it at Dollar General.
Some good thoughts about helping daughters in their transition to independence, but the author's worldview was so different than mine that it was rather painful to read. Sifting through all the chaff may have been worthwhile, but there must be better books on the subject.
