She thought magic didn’t exist. She was so, so wrong.
Raven Danvers is a typical student… until a demon attacks her on the night of her birthday. Luckily, she’s saved by Noah—a mysterious, sexy wolf shifter who appears and disappears before she can ask him any questions.
Then Raven's mom is abducted by the same demon who came after her. And who turns up at the scene of the crime again? Noah. He’s hunting the demons who are taking humans, and he’s ultimately heading where Raven needs to go to save her mom—the mystical island of Avalon.
Now Raven’s joining Noah’s demon hunting mission whether he wants her there or not. Which he doesn't. But nothing stops Raven, so she and Noah will have to learn to work together—if they don’t kill each other first.
More importantly, she has to survive his crazy demon hunt. Because surviving is the only way to get to Avalon and save her mom’s life.

alRIGHT IT'S TIME TO TELL YOU WHY NOT TO SUBJECT YOURSELF TO THIS.
this series is about raven danvers, who is ~speshul~ and has magical powers apparently and meets a ~hot~ boy and discovers that he's a wolf shifter!!1!! [not a werewolf, apparently those don't exist]. and she's really pretty but she doesn't think so. sound familiar?
well, let me break it down for you.
there's also sage who's the only character who i liked even a tablespoon. which is saying something because I get attached EASILY.
raven: self describes as fiery and smart. yes, she actually SAYS that. also a cookie-cutter copy of the mc from the faerie games, who I actually forget the name of.
noah: a speshul wolf shifter. also a monumental asshole and a territorial bastard. as if raven's his property.
sage: a badass wolf shifter who gets annoying after imprinting on the vampire she was going to get married to when she was 18. and he was around 200.
flint: an idiot who's mating a demon. which is disgusting. he's disgusting.
do you need any more? well too bad because right now i'm too tired to stop. <3
~issues~ #1: raven's a pain. which i've probably said way too many times by now, but she is. #2: the plot is so??? it just. what's the point of it all??? #3: y'know how the faerie games was a hunger games copy? well this one's a copy of the mortal instruments. #4: the toxic masculinity + just overall romance. no honey. no. #5: imprinting??? and mating??? i mean, in throne of glass it was lowkey so i didn't care, but this is just a pain, tbh.
honestly there's too much to list. two stars because of sage from the first two books.
New to me author and I absolutely fell in love with this world. It reminded me a little bit of The Mortal Instruments but it was different in its own way. I loved the world building and I loved most of the characters as well. I listened to this series over several days and it was SO good!! I’m sad it came to a end but it was awesome! I’m hoping that one day there will be a spin off series of some sort. I need more. I definitely recommend this book!! Must read. Audio 4 stars I thought the narrator was okay. I listened to the audiobook at a faster pace and I really enjoyed it. She did a good job portraying the male voices as well.
I just couldn't get behind this female main character. Her absolute self entitlement and self-importance, the reckless behavior, the expecting others to make sacrifices for her and taking it for granted, continuing to follow through with what she knows to be foolish emotional behavior, and constantly expecting that she's owed more credit than she's earned. Time and time again this character irritated the heck out of me with her delusional self ingrandizement and completely irrational behavior. She would operate on the principal that it was okay to do whatever she wanted because she felt a certain way and it didn't matter who else it injured around her or whether or not she was acting for the greater good. She's the worst type of spoiled self entitled drama queens
I have read all of the Dark World Series from this author. The ability to weave the stories is fantastic. The writing style is filled with superfluous and redundant chatter. However, it is a solid read. You can definitely see where her author influences, well, influence a bit too much and becomes borderline fan fiction.
I started this series in the beginning of quarantine in 2020 and as I was reading this series I got distracted by other books. This happens a lot for me when book series are longer than four books. This book series was good, but it was not my favorite that title is held by Throne of Glass! Over all I liked this series and would recommend it.
Since I listened to the audiobook I’ll be reviewing that performance as well: The voice was chosen well, it suited the story and was performed excellent. The different voices the narrator used for all the characters made it a joy to listen too.
The story is captivating. Although I had several moments where I was wondering why the titles for the seperate books were what they are considering the talk about an Earthangel but nothing more Angel-wise even halfway through the series. But, when finishing this story, that all makes sense and they’re chosen well. Also with the covers, some didn’t make sense to me but the one for the complete series definitely makes sense when listening to the final book. I did notice that Michelle’s other series: The Vampire Wish, takes place in the same world (‘Dark World’ is in both the series’ names) and maybe it’s important to know that that series takes place before the events in The Angel Trials but I did not miss any vital information, nothing was weird or difficult to understand without having read or listened to The Vampire Wish. So you’re fine listening or reading to this one without prior knowledge of any of Michellle’s books. The way this series ends though, does promise in a way that we will get a following series because this series ends in a way that is fairly closed but still open in the sense that there is still a bigger war to come in the future. And seeing as I loved these characters, they all had enough depth to like them, well, the likeable characters at least, there are some you won’t be rooting for lol but anyway, the characters, the world around them, it’s all written/told well enough to captivate untill the last word and I can’t wait for the next series! I loved the main characters, their interactions, their quest, their determination, their loyalty, I loved everything. This series doesn’t ends with a cliff-hanger, I hate those, it’s just clear that the whole of the story isn’t over. There’s more to come (I hope) although this is a completed series, and the ending is satisfying. It’s just my first that a series ends with a sort of a promise that it will (or can) be continued by another series because it’s clearly set in a world that still has some stories to shed. And if all the characters and their interactions are as great in other series than in this one, I don’t want to miss a single one! So I guess I’m off exploring the previous series in this world -without any regrets that I’ve listened to this one first because it is seperate enough for not regretting my chosen order. I normally do prefer to read/listen in the chronological order but it doesn’t bother me now. And that is also a first so well done Michelle Madow. Didn’t know her before but I will be checking her work out in the future.
This 'set' that is supposed to be books 1-7 reads more like one very long book. Now, I enjoy long lovels, but it's not what I was expecting. It's also slightly annoying that even though each book flows right into the next, it will still have a recap of events from the previous story. That said, I did enjoy the world the author built and found many extra moments to read because of it. It was interesting that so many changes were taking place in the supernatural world and we readers got to be right there for it.
A new author for me, I ordered the set of seven book from Amazon, I thought I can always just read the first one and if I don't like it not bother with the rest. Who was I kidding, in 4 nights I had read all 7 books, I just could not put them down. I really enjoyed them. The mix of characters and species from Noah a sexy wolf shiter, Sage also a wolf shifter and beta of the pack, Raven who was human and thought she had no powers at all and Raven's mum who owned a mystical shop and was a tarot card reader. These we meet in the first book after Raven has been targetted on a birthday night out with her friends by a Demon, he dragged her from the ladies into a dark alley, but along come Noah and Sage (who are hunting demons for a mission Noah has been sent on) and they save her, stangely after destroying the demon, Noah picks up a tooth and puts it in his pocket. Raven is shaken up by this and her friends take her home only to find her mother has been abducted an strangely Noah and Sage turn up again, following a demon scent. They feel that her mum was abudcted by a demon but don't know why, maybe it was a mistake and they were really after Raven. It is decided that she should go along with them so that they can protect her until they work out what is happening. From there it is a fantastic journey though the rest of the books, taking them all over the US hunting demons, we find out why Noah needs the teeth, they gain the help from witches, a Vampire Prince who was once engaged to Sage, and face many battles. They even end up on the mysterious island of Avalon - yes THE Avalon, Along with King Arthur, his sword, and further trials for Raven to see what she can become. Believe me you will want to start the next book as soon as you finish the one you are reading so the boxed set is the best idea.
>I am an independent reviewer. This box set contains the 7 books in the Dark World series and ends in an HEA, but the plot continues probably in the next series. This series builds off a previous series that isn’t referenced a whole lot causing some of the plot points in this book to be confusing.
>Raven is the main character in this series. She is human but is intended to save the supernatural world from an influx of demons. She teams up with wolf shifters, Noah and Sage. Noah is her fated mate, but he fights the attraction because she is human. The first few books in this series are the best. There are a lot of “G” rated romantic attractions. In fact, the “G” rating continues throughout the entire book, even when Noah and Raven finally mate. The action depends upon a lot of magic that seems to cheat the plot. Raven needs to get somewhere, so she finds a witch to teleport. Raven needs knowledge, so she finds a witch to scry. When Raven is truly tested, the series is interesting. The plot cheats get boring.
>Raven and Noah have an enemy to lover's romance. Noah has ex’s that Raven meets, but she only seems a bit insecure. Some real jealousy would show the depth of the romance, since nothing explicit is written. This book is appropriate for a new adult (17+) audience due to violence mainly. I am giving this box set 4 stars. The series is billed as complete, but the plot still continues, so I don’t consider the series truly complete.
I’ve been meaning to read (The Angel Trials) for years now. It was on my kindle and just kept being pushed back. Until I decided to ask for the complete series in book form for my birthday. That way I would read it , and wow it is a massive read, with all 7 books inside. I finally put my foot down and found the time to read it. I gotta say when I got to the end, I never realised that this was the second series. The Vampire Wish is the first series and meant to read that first. I have that in my book on my bookshelf (cry). I mean it hasn't ruined too much of the story, it’s just I know how one of the characters kinder comes to where they are now. I was a little frustrated with myself for not releasing it, but never mind I'll just read The Vampire Wish next.
But on the upside this series is amazing, why did I leave it so long to read this epic adventure. I love Michelle Madow books, I read another series of hers a few years back (The Elementals). The way Michelle builds up these worlds is incredible. This series is highly plot driven, mixed in with Paranormal Fantasy romance. This is my favourite genre of book so I was sucked right into the story. Raven Danvers you see this young woman become fearless, strong and basically a kickass fighter, she is also very stubborn and determined to achieve what she set out to do. and you see her grow through the books. She fights alongside her new friends HOT and SEXY Noah in this new world she never knew existed.
I love Noah so much, with Noah being very secretive about his past life and at the start not being very fond of Raven. To Noah she is a nuisance to him. Sage is amazing, she is the friend that you need by your side. My other favourite character was Thomas. I loved reading all about these characters and being with them fighting together through the series. The fact we get all the different character POVs and their sides of the action, it was like you were reading from all sides, absolutely jammed packed with fast pacing action.
I highly recommend this thrilling paranormal fantasy romance series, with twists and turns working out the secrets and mysteries. Hopefully you start with The Vampire Wish first, full of witches, wolf shifters, vampires, demons and angels and villains it has everything you wish for. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I feel there is a lot more action to come, and I'm totally here for it.
This is a multiple series collection. It starts with a vampires wish and continues from there. The Angel Trails was interesting. It picked up from where a vampires wish left off but with a new main character and two new love stories in one. Well three of the demon one counts. Two wolf shifters and a human tracking and killing demons is the way it starts and it finishes with three weddings and the birth of a baby/death of a witch. It is a fantastic series and anyone interested in supernatural or romance with action will enjoy this. There's none of those in depth sex scenes which honestly makes the book way more interesting
This series was found at random. I was bored and between books and took a chance. I was so surprised with this story and characters. I could see some of the ideas matching other stories I've read like what vampires could do and other supernatural characters but the journey we are taken is a first for me. Spoilers are not what I do but recommendations I'm all for. So if you like this type of reading I highly recommend and who knows maybe like me you'll lose a few good nights sleep, daydream about people you have only read about and Find a new author to add to your collection.
I am going to give the series an overall 4 🌟 rating. It wasn't a bad series, it kept me interested, and it was well written. I definitely got Shadowhunters/ Mortal Instruments vibes throughout the seven books.
I like Ravens and Noah's relationship, and how it developed overtime. Sage was a badass character, and Thomas was a great match for her.
I feel bad for this kids in this book. Their outcome broke my heart.
I will probably read more from this author. Probably with next year's reading challenge.
I recommend if you want something easy to read. I think it's only on Kindle and Audio book. I tried to make this review brief, as I don't want to spoil anyone who wants to read it.
The first few chapters were deceptively slow...but that soon changes, and the logic comes to light! A wonderful adventure with a nice mix of characters...and a few side slides that were initially confusing but helped build one heck of bonding experience for all the leading characters. Told from multiple PoV have a great insight to the dynamic of the characters individually and as a group. Not the first of these box sets I've read...but reading them completely out of order lol....once I've got them all will def be reading again...in order (they don't need to be read in order...but lots of crossover characters!)
I really enjoyed the series and I fell in love with all the characters. Now I am sorry I read the series out of order, since I already bought the vampire pack, but I should had read that one first. Oh well! In any case I also have the Fae Games and I am ready to read it too! One more thing I would have enjoyed is having a small glimpse at Sage and Thomas dyad and relationship, they were my favorite couple, even more than the main couple LOL Definitely a nice saga for magic and fantasy lovers.
I was really impressed with the authors ability to create such fascinating characters in this series. We have so many different characters that make up the paranormal differences. Shifters, Angels, Witches, Mages, and Vampires. While reading this series it is a lot like you develop emotions and are pushing for each one to be fast enough to save themselves as well as their loved ones safe. When you start reading the series you just want to keep on going until the end. This is definitely a series to read.
This is going to be a brief review, as I read it for fun, not as an ARC.
I always enjoy Ms Madow's writing. That said, this is a long series & the first 3 books started out slow (BTW, I strongly suggest reading this after her other Angels series).
Starting with book 4, it was hard to put down; I only did so because I was averaging less than 4 hours sleep per night due to issues at work.
She states that this series is followed up by Faerie Games, which I read quite awhile back & enjoyed. Probably best to read them in the author's intended order though.
I am usually not a reader, once in awhile get I get in the mood to read but even then it usually will take me awhile to finish a series....that was definitely NOT the case with The Angel Trials! I couldn’t put it down I have never finished a series so fast in my life! It reminded me of Shadow hunters meets Vampire Diaries mix and I absolutely loved it!! A MUST READ for sure!!
The storyline is solid, but the execution of it could've been a lot better. The word "shined" is threaded through all of the books instead of "shone" and it proved to be a big sticking point for this reader. I also feel that this author is good at building up a narrative, but the end scenes are always so rushed. Have an editor finely polish all books from the beginning...Amazon allows you to do this without pulling any from the shelves, and give this story the professional finish it deserves.
This series is great. With Audible it brings the characters to life. I would definitely recommend this series to all. I personally think it would make for good TV or even movies. Thank you Michelle Madow for writing such great series. I can't wait to start the next series. You won't regret getting these books and you won't be able to stop reading them until you've gotten through them all. I'm off on the next adventure.
I was captured from the beginning thanks to the wonderfully detailed storyline and the growing groups of fascinating characters. The evolving adventures are intensely immersive and time is easily forgotten when you become more and more drawn " into" this series. You just forget all about your surroundings. This series is for all loving adventure, myth, friendship, romance..and a well written story right from the start.
Do wish I had known this was the 2nd of book series.
A lot more relevant detail in the first series, about Vampires. And the third about dragons. The supernatural species all interact in interesting way, becoming more allies as the stories progress. And there always seems to be a hot true love developing to add spice to the adventure. Worthwhile fantasies all...but try to catch them in the right order.
Back maybe 2 years ago, I read this series. At the time questions kept going through my mind about happenings in story. So recently I decided to read again. It was better the second time because I was familiar with the story. First time you don't know how story pans out, but author does and leaves subtle hints which we don't realize but 2nd reading finnally put all together, loved it. Now going to the Fairy realm😊
I started with The Vampires Wish and speed though it, in fact it got me out of my current reading slump. I enjoyed The Angel Trials and Raven, Noah and Sage and all the rest of the gang just as much and I'm now getting ready to download the 3rd series in this world. I highly recommend this for a fun read with a beautifully detailed world, and smart distinctly written characters.
The Angel Trials Complete Series by Michelle Madow: 5 stars! Noah/Raven. Sage/Thomas. Jacen/Annika, etc. Inter species bonding with mixed results. Angel, Nephilim, Witch, Vampire, Shifter, Demon, Fae. This story is good! Fast paced with wonderful characters, some chemistry, a quest, kidnappings, and secrets. It’s very well written and imaginative… Loved it!! —PTators
To be honest this was cheesy, predictable, and the writing style made all characters and dialogues slightly annoying (plus many typos/mistakes that could have been spotted by an editor). I managed to finish it anyway since I read it's the first series this author wrote, and writing is difficult. I don't know if the following series are connected to this so I had to get to the end. Can anyone tell me if the author's writing improved in the following books?
*I posted a review for book one thinking it was the full series, my review was meant for the full series*
Michelle Maddie does a great job in keeping the main character and her arc the forefront of the story. Although the timelines sometimes seem to get mixed, each character has some story development- even those with just small parts- which helps the reader make key connections to the previous arcs! I do want to add, the way she ensures each arc is connected is chefs kiss!
Really Enjoy the series. The only thing I didn't care for or some of the story lines when she went off on a tangent with other minor characters. I really wanted to follow through from 1 perspective of the main character.
Other than that, however, the books are really well written, the characters are fun, and the story was fascinating.
I couldn't put it down. It was the perfect combination of sassy, adventurous, witty romance a novel should aspire to be. I enjoyed the world created and the mystery behind the plot and characters and how they all fit together. I cannot wait for the next installment of books ahead!
