She’s my wife. She just doesn’t know it yet.
What Kim calls a fake marriage, I call an agreement with potential. Until she wrecks my life and my cabin right along with it, spending more time on the run from me than she does tending to her marital duties.
I try everything I can to bind her to me, including a deal she can’t resist: she gives me sixty days to make her fall in love with me, or I will grant her a divorce.
She’s my wife. Her body mine for the taking. And once I took her body, I’ll come for her soul.
Bound is the sixth book in this interconnected dystopian romance series, with no cliffhangers, no insta-love, no cheating, and a guaranteed Happy for Now.
Been a while since I was this pissed off and enraged while reading a book.
My reading so far this year has been, for the lack of a better term, abysmal. Not sure why but all my books are being neglected.
Anyhoo, this sucked. Yes, I said it. I detest when authors do decent, sweet, gullible guys like this. Play them in the worst ways. The heroine was just..I simply wanted to throat punch her. I understand she had a "past" but my oh my when heroines are cruel and mean towards the nice guy who is raised right and is a love sick fool... I cannot explain how much that calls to the inner banshee in me. That's so fkd up like wow fk off and when she gets treated the way she treats the guy..waterworks.
This series reminded me of the Men of the North series. Post apocalyptic, more men than women, the elitist societies in the south harbor secrets and propogate lies. Ultimately, in this series, the elitist group commits torture and mass murder. I greatly enjoyed the stories but I can't believe how many typos riddled this series. Each story in the series is more exciting than the previous one. When I got to book 6 I realized that there should be more to the series. I'm not sure when the author plans to continue with this series but she said it probably wouldn't be completed in the form it's currently in.
Bound is about Kim who came from the Ash Lands and Oriel, the mechanic of the Woodlands Clan. Kim is a former Lady of the Night whose past Oriel is unaware of. She had been forced into a marriage with Oriel due to an agreement between Adair and the Ash Lands President in the previous story.
Hard to put down - I started reading this late last night and finished at 2 AM this morning. It was hard to put down. This book is not just about Kim and Oriel’s marriage. It shows family dynamics in the Woodlands. It also shows you a glimpse of how the other Clans rule or keep their members in check. The story started out with Kim and Oriel’s forced marriage and how Kim keeps trying to run away. Oriel wanted to make a go of it but Kim has big reservations. If you’ve read The Jerk, you’d know Kim’s past and you’ll wonder if Oriel, as outstanding as a husband as he is, would really accept her. Even knowing about Kim’s past prior to reading this book, I was aghast with the contract list. This book started out light enough and with bouts of steamy sex, until ¾ of the way and all he11 break loose. It got dark but the dark grips you and twists your heart. You know that something tragic is going to happen but which one? You’ll think of the memorable characters and ask yourself, does it really have to happen that way? You’ll swipe the last page and say to yourself, “Wow”, with a big sigh.
Have you been keeping up with the series? If you have, then you know Kim agreed to marry Oriel at the end of the last book. If you haven't, then you need to join the party. This series has turned out to be too good to miss. The storyline continues to unfold, the characters seemingly come to life off the page with their personalities and insecurities, the plot flows seamlessly. V.K. Ludwig gave me tears, laughter, knots in my stomach and, although I hate to admit it, a few exclamations that ended with the F-bomb. This book is terrific and I'm proud to recommend it and the rest of the series to anyone who listens.
It's the last book in this emotionally charged series. The characters in this book just tear at the heart from the being. Oriel wanting to be best husband and friend for Kim, though he knows literally nothing about her or her past; he just hopes that they will build a future together. While Kim feels so damaged that she wants to run at every opportunity. She feels undeserving of any goodness or kindness from anyone, let alone a man. The two of them working through their personal struggles in this post-apocalyptic world, working together . . . Well it's a damn good story. I'm said the series is over, but I enjoyed the world the author created.
This is the sixth book in the series and an amazing addition to the series. Oriel agreed to marry Kim in the previous book but she was to keep her past a secret from him. Kim is just glad to have escaped the Ash Zone has no real interest in being married to Oriel and she certainly doesn’t believe in happy endings. This read had me hooked from beginning to end so much drama and emotion. All of the characters have so much depth they really draw you into the book and take you on a journey as to what could be in the future. I loved it!
