The Mechanics of Love #2

The Only Way to Love

Rate this book
M/M Age Play Romance

Flirting with the tattooed hottie who comes into the library is fun, but Jules knows it will take more than patience and a warm smile to be a good Daddy.

Jules realizes he can’t keep sending mixed signals to the tempting bad boy who keeps hanging around, but he’s not sure how to go about taking things to the next level. Everything in Jules is screaming out that Frank is the perfect Daddy Dom even though they’ve technically never met. But a man who loves romance novels and teases the little old ladies at the library has to be as perfect as he seems…right?

Frank has a thing for smart guys, but with his tattoos and rough looks, most sweet men run the opposite direction. But not Jules. He runs, but never too far or for too long. Frank knows the teasing librarian that peeks at him around corners is nervous, but are his fears about Frank or is the shy librarian with the beautiful smile hiding something?

I know that these characters were introduced in the previous book and since I haven’t read that, it would make sense that I was a little lost at first.

But even though that was the case here, I would still expect some background information about the two MCs. And that’s what I really noticed when I was reading this book. It is mentioned Jules is a librarian, but that’s it. And I had no idea that Frank was a mechanic until they were in ‘the shop’ and he said something about working on a car.

It was like these guys were living in some kind of vacuum, with only the occasional visit from their friends Sean and Derek.

I’m all for character and relationship development, but I felt there was just too much of that here. These guys were only ever talking about their relationship and the age play. I’m all for good communication, but OMG these guys had to talk about every single thing. It was pretty tiring.

I did like the overall sweetness and Jules was pretty cute . I also liked the parts where Frank stopped worrying and acted like the daddy Jules needed.

I’m not sure I will continue with this series. I like M.A. Innes, but this book wasn’t quite what I’d hoped.

He was my badass Daddy with a heart of gold. Hopefully.
I always read this authors ageplay books and they always end up the same way, for me, which is nice but a little boring. Don’t get me wrong...The writing is always excellent, the characters interesting, the kink is intriguing, but they seem to follow a template and it just never goes far enough. It always stays on the sweet side and after the initial setting up of the relationship we get pages and pages of mundane, day to day, blow by blow stuff that pads out the story but bores me to death. Even the sex scenes towards the end were way too long. But I keep reading, so....

Honestly, there’s a lot here to like. The dynamic between Derek, who has been Jules’ caretaker and friend for years, and Frank, who is trying to take over the job but is living in Derek’s shadow, is particularly fun to read.
Derek was right, the cuffs were easy to wrap around his wrists, but he was insane if he’d thought the mounting instructions had been easy... Instructions for sex toys should not be written by drunk robots.

“I’m mature and take-charge and the best Daddy you’ve ever had.”
But the best bit about these kinds of stories is always the message that...
“Our life doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.”

Frank and Jules. What can I say about the sexy unaware Biker Daddy and the shy bratty Little. I really enjoyed how these two worked out what they want and really didn't have any issues except to much over sharing from peanut gallery.

Inner dialogue for me sometimes can make or break a book for me but I loved Jules's, his inner little was a little snarky and bratty so I'm glad that he was able to find Frank to care for him. And have his Uncle Derek was bad either.

Sweet

Sometimes I need a sweet Liberian who knows what he wants to make my day. I loved how even though he was shy, and awkward that didn’t effect him in staying true to who he was. He was the perfect little. I also loved that F stayed opened the whole time in figuring out how to be the perfect daddy. They were perfect together. I loved that there wasn’t really any drama. Simple sweet love.

I enjoyed this book much more than the previous one. Both characters were interesting and Jules was introduced as a sweet "little" in book one so right from the beginning here he's on his search for the perfect daddy and thinks he may have found someone. Someone who has been checking him out at the library where he works. Tall, good-looking, tattooed Derek has a gruff exterior but a heart of marshmallow and when he learns Jules's kink, he's willing to extend himself to see if he's a good fit.

The pace is slow but Derek's respect for Jules is solid throughout the book and the Daddy/little kink is explored and established long before any sex scenes between the two so the author did a good job, IMO, in their relationship development.

All in all, the characters were fun, the kink was quite kinky at times, and I'm left with positive feelings about this one.

I was really looking forward to reading Jules and Frank's story.
I wasn't disappointed!!

Frank was so great about learning more about Jules and what he needed before just jumping into anything with him.

"Was the little librarian sweet and innocent or wicked and teasing?"
I had a feeling the answer to that was both.

It was fun to watch the circle around each other, trying to figure out if they would match.

"My baggage included crayons, Legos, and needing someone to set boundaries.
He had to deal with that before we even thought about anything else."

"he was the spitting image of my fantasies. He was my badass Daddy with a heart of gold.
Hopefully."

Jules was adorable the way he tried easing Frank into his life..

"As I watched him study the room, occasionally smiling at the toys and different things around the room, I couldn't decide how to bring up his opinion on stuffed animals. Was he pro-stuffy or anti-stuffy?"

I loved that Derek and Sean were so supportive and nosy. Like great friends should be..

"I've been sent to subtly figure out how your first date went." Sean's words had me snorting as I slammed the hood down.
"Subtly, huh?" I turned to see him grinning. "We might need to explain to you what that word means."

Frank was endearing in his caution about the responsibility of becoming Jules' Daddy. To me, it proved he really cared. Together, they were sweet, sexy and funny. They made my heart happy.
Together they grew their confidence in each other and their relationship.

Damn.. their first time together was so hot, tender, sweet and perfect. Sigh..
I loved Franks Daddy style, I also loved how to make Derek a bit crazy.

"You need better rules. What kind of hippie commune are you running over there? Sucking thumbs and probably sugar cereal and Pop-Tarts for breakfast?"

Jules was a sweet, happy, cheeky little. He is adorable.

I thoroughly enjoyed this whole book. It had all the feels.
I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series.

The Only Way to Love by author M.A. Innes is the second book in the Mechanics of Love series. I adored this book. This book is written in dual POV, this helped me to understand both men’s POV so much better. I had met Jules in book one, and I think that is important to this storyline, so read this series in order will give you a better insight into Jules.
Frank is so confused when he overhears Derek and his lover complaining about a brat who is leaving Leggo bombs all over the place. When he figures out, they are talking about Jules he is even more confused.
What I loved about Frank is, he is a big biker dude with tatts, right? But his heart is made of fluff. He is kind, sweet, and very open-minded. He doesn’t know what it is to be a Daddy but for Jules, he will learn.
Jules is a little through and through. He works at the local library, is painfully shy, and geeky all at the same time. He needs a Daddy to center him. He hopes it will be Frank.
I loved this story. I think it is about Derek letting go of Jules as much as it is about Frank and Jules’ love story. I cannot wait for more from this series in the future. I cannot wait to see where it goes next.

Jules and Frank are a simply adorable couple exploring the world of Age Play. There are some intensely hot scenes with a very needy boy and a nurturing Daddy who only wants to give his boy everything he needs.  Lots of fluff and heat here – a great read!

I’ve been waiting for this

I couldn’t wait for Jules and Frank’s story and now that I’ve read it, I’m not sure how I feel. Jules lived up to everything I hoped he would be, as did Frank. I loved watching them play cat and mouse, and I loved how they were both reserved and unsure in the beginning. The reality of their reservations, fears, and concerns made me even more invested. There was one thing that bothered me and what kept me from giving this book 5 stars though. *****POSSIBLE SPOILER***** What bothered me was their first time. It’s been established that Jules was a virgin who was waiting for his Daddy and because of this, their first and only time having penetrative sex was at the very end of the book. Now there were orgasms throughout and some steamy moments so the fact that they didn’t have sex until the end wasn’t the problem. The problem was how quickly it was over!! The foreplay went on for pages, but their coming together was barely a paragraph!! That was SO disappointing!! -*****END SPOILER***** I loved seeing Sean and Derek in this book as well, as their story was awesome, too. I was just hoping for so much more for that one part because it is THE highlight of the story. Still a good book, so 4/5 stars

So good I read it twice!!

This is one of those reads that are so good you don’t want it to end. Hence me reading it twice lol. Frank is the Daddy a sweet little wants. Jules is so adorably sweet and cutely mischievous. I have to say though that I feel Derek’s pain. Having stepped on many a Lego in all my years of parenting there is no pain like it. And they hide the little demon spawn droppings. But no matter the age or the mindset, there is so much joy and cute concentration on their faces you can’t help but enjoy watching them. And play too. While I love all of the author’s books and characters, there were two but now three that are my favorites. Jules is now tied with Mark and Nathan as being my all time favorite characters. What i love most though is how even with so many characters in both Shaw Montgomery and M. A. Innes books, no two are the same. Neither are the relationships. Yet even with all the different journeys they all made to their HEA, I have loved being able to get lost into each one and enjoy it with them. Now I just have to practice patience because I’ve been wanting Avery’s story for a long time and May is sooo far away.

2.5* I think I'm not enough of a daddy/little fan to have really enjoyed this. Frank is a rough looking mechanic who is really a marshmallow. Jules is your typical shy librarian who has been eyeing Frank who works for Jules' roommate's boyfriend. Finally the roommate tells Frank that Jules is interested but tells him he's a little. Something Jules is not ready to hide. Frank's never heard of this and after a bad experience with BDSM is not sure but agrees to try. Before long they are way into it and Jules is a virgin so Frank is afraid to push him but as a little Jules won't take the first move. Thankfully the roommate pushes them along. *eyeroll* What didn't work for me was the constant little play during sex which kind of creeped me out. Calling your private parts "silly place" ALL THE TIME, not just once in a while. My silly place is tingly daddy. Can I touch your silly place daddy? It just didn't work for me. I also didn't get the whole thing with Frank's mother who he kept calling "woman". "Don't say that, woman". It just seemed out of place and not needed. So while I enjoy this author's work, this one was just not for me.

The shy librarian Jules knows he can't keep sending mixed signals to Frank the tattooed guy who keeps hanging around the library but he has no idea how to take things to the next level. Surely a man who loves romance novels and teases the little old ladies at the library has to be perfect as a Daddy? Frank has a thing for smart guys but most run from him thanks to his tattoos. He can see that the librarian is nervous but what is he hiding?

I loved this sweet story with shy Jules who really needed help from his family Derek and Sean from the previous book in the series to help prepare Frank for Jules' secrets. I loved Frank and how he asked careful intelligent questions, did some research and then was great at communicating that he was prepared to give it a try (but actually was a completely natural Daddy). The interference from Derek and Sean was funny and the trust and emotions between Jules and Frank were just beautiful. Definitely a story to make the heart sing and make you smile. Easy to read, feel and understand. This contains mature MM content with a BSDM-like DDLB relationship including spanking, binkies, diapers and bottles.

This is a terrific age play romance. Jules is a librarian and a little with a dream. He wants to find a tattooed biker to be his daddy. I loved that Jules, despite his lack of experience, knew what he wanted and wouldn't settle for less.
Frank was everything Jules wanted, but he wasn't a daddy. He was very interested in the cute librarian, but would he be able to take on a dominant role, when hadn't had positive experiences in BDSM? I loved that Frank was completely new to the world of age play, and I enjoyed watching him slowly begin to embrace the different elements. These two were so sweet and sexy together.
I also loved that Derek and Sean, from The Only Way to Live, played important roles here. Derek has been the one to fill in as caregiver for Jules, and it's going to take him some time to really let go. So cute!
This book was so much fun. I can't wait to see who will be the next perfect couple in the series, and I am thrilled that I'll get to see more of these guys.

I absolutely adored this book! I've been wanting to read Jules and Frank's story after reading the first book and connecting it from Ethan's. I think this is the first time I read the struggles and journey of the Daddy Dom instead of the little, and I absolutely loved it. They're so perfect for one another and Jules was so adorable, skittish and a bit vengeful (towards Derek, at least.) They're both sweet and understanding, so there's no miscommunication while they discover how to move forward towards their relationship. I didn't expect Frank's story onto why he's apprehensive towards BDSM. That's just so messed up. Now, we also got to meet a new character here, Ray. I'm now excited to read his story with the long awaited character, Avery! Well... I'm not gonna spoil anything, so I'll just wait for their story plus another character we didn't get to meet yet.

We first get to meet Jules and Frank in the 1st book of the series, The Only Way to Live (which is also a must read). This is their story and it is simply awesome. Jules is the perfect balance of brat and sweet that you simply can't help falling in love with him (I did since the first book). And Frank is all macho sexy looking but with a soft gooey center (one of my faves). You develop such a connection with them that you root them along the way..Jules to find his forever Daddy with Frank and for Frank to find his inner Daddy. And I loved that it wasn't all instant fix for them. Ms Innes didn't take no short cuts, but took us sight seeing through the road of discovery, overcoming fear of the unknown, and finding strength not to give up to find true love and happiness

I liked this better than the first book but not as much as I’d hoped I would. Jules was adorable as I expected him to be. Frank was just okay. Derek was a menace. I really dislike that kid. Especially how he kept going on and on about rules for Jules. Like dude you do realize he’s an adult right? What’s your obsession with sugary cereal?! I feel like the book would have been better if little Jules got more playtime. A lot of his little time was just watching a movie cuddling and bath times. Legos were mentioned constantly but I guess the author didn’t feel it was important for scenes of him playing alone or with Frank. I shouldn’t be surprised since the first book was pretty much erotica.

I have a confession. I love that this author can’t give up their characters. I’m a sucker for epilogues and sneak peaks into the lives of MCs that I’ve already read about.

MA Innes is the master of weaving a family of characters through their books. It makes me so happy.

4.5 stars.

This book had me snickering and joyful through most of the book. It was a site story that I will definitely read again.

I’m not sure what aspects of kink are my favorite but I’m fascinated with learning all of them.

Each time I read about something I don’t know I go down a rabbit hole of learning on the internet. There is no way to tell how much more I have to learn. But I’m willing to keep learning.

I’ll be reading more books from this author. I enjoyed this book immensely.

Cuteness

Jules is freaking precious and has a buried feisty streak that makes for fun moments of payback. I love how great Frank is with everything that is put out there. He takes time to learn before reacting.

This is a cute story with great characters. I really enjoyed the dynamics of their relationship as well as how their friends tie into it. This is full of sweet moments, chuckles, and perfect moments.

Perfect Daddy and boyfriend

So satisfying! I liked the build up of the relationship between Jules and Frank, especially how Frank was willing to push past his fears to become both the Daddy and the boyfriend Jules has always wanted. It was fun getting to see more of Jules and Derek’s oversharing relationship and now I want to pick up some Legos so I can passive aggressively sabotage those who annoy me.

What do you expect from Derek’s roommate, In this second book of the series we get to know Jules better and how he gets his forever Daddy in Frank. Be prepared to be blown away by how sweet, sassy, mischievous, unexpected dirty talk and down right hawt this book is. I loved every page and can’t wait for Roy’s book.
