Aubrey West discovers that there is more to the universe than just the universe. After an accidental trip to a new world with her coworker Connor Hayes, Aubrey learns of the Exceptions; a society of people with the power to make imagination a reality. With Connor as her guide, Aubrey learns of everything that Exceptions built beyond the Big Bang. With Connor pressured by his former superiors to catch an old friend turned foe, Aubrey goes through doors that lead to everywhere and pocket watches that tell more than time. Aubrey must help Connor confront the darkest parts of himself even as they battle a terrifying, seemingly unbeatable force. Will Aubrey and Connor be able to escape his past, or will the universe as we know it, pay the ultimate price? Exception is a mind-bending, strange, and profoundly human science-fiction thriller about how far some will go to claim ultimate power and how far others will go to make sure the rest of humanity is totally unaware of how delicate their existence truly is.

Malcolm Omega's first book. He's a self published indie author, and it was great read. Malcolm balances narrative and dialogue in a way that creates a flow from page to page. Connor and Aubrey are the main characters, and while Aubrey seems to be the focus, their adventure is caught up in Connor's past bad decisions, forcing him to make even more bad decisions to try and fix what he broke years ago.

Amazing Read!

A universe built upon by those with the power to build it has a unique twist. The characters feel grounded in reality and have a lot of heartwarming moments along with over the top adventure and some silliness. It was an amazing, immersive, and wonderfully entertaining. I could see it as a TV series or film (Prime, wink wink)
