Cyborgs on Mars #4

The Magnificent Cyborg

Rate this book
A woman with a troubled past, and a cyborg with missing memories.

W-246 is one of the last cyborgs sent to Mars to work on the terraforming project. While he doesn't remember how he became a cyborg, he has accepted his new role as a territorial judge. Until he encounters Cherry. He knows he could never forget a woman like her -- so why does she seem so familiar?

Madam Cherry is through with men.
In her experience, they either use her or break her heart or both. Instead, she concentrates on running a successful business, and is content taking care of her girls -- until she runs into Wyatt.

Their brief, passionate marriage ended years ago when he disappeared -- killed in the line of duty. Or so she had assumed. Now she finds out that he is very much alive.

The fact that he is a cyborg doesn't bother her -- the fact that he doesn't remember her? That could destroy her . . .

Can Cherry and Wyatt recapture their love in the midst of a budding rebellion, surrounded by dangerous new enemies?

Wyatt is the new cyborg judge and Cherry is the Madam in town. Wyatt doesn't remember his past life or the fact he was married to Cherry for 2 weeks before he became a cyborg. There is a small mystery with the nefarious company but really the book was one sex scene after another. The characters were either thinking of sex, foreplay during inappropriate times, talking about sex, etc. If you're running away from the bad guys and have to rally the troops before the bad guys win you don't stop to 'play around', all while on a cyborg horse. I like the premise of the books and expect a bit more sex than usual from this author but the series has become nothing more than porn with a sprinkling of plot development. I simply don't enjoy stories anymore when I have to page forward past one sex scene after another. A few less scenes and more plot would bring me back to the series.

Love this cyborg series! This one is about the resident madam on Mars who gets her cyborg hero, a man she was previously married to when he was human. (Now he doesn't remember her). What I enjoyed most was the world-building, and I love the robotic horses. Sci-fi and western blend so well.

While this series is still enjoyable for me to read, it's starting to suffer from The Curse of the Too Long SFR Series—the books are getting repetitive, predictable, and the farther along we get, the less thoughtful they feel. They start to feel like going through the motions without the joy.

Very few authors in the genre have managed to balance a series of more than 2-3 books without falling into this rut. This is why, as a rule, I much prefer stand alone stories to series.

A lot of the W H Y about Wyatt's story was never explained in here, so the main conflict didn't work for me. The resolution for it was just...OK. Like an episode of a show where the writers write themselves into a corner and WHOO, WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT SUPER CONVENIENT RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. I'm just saying that this one maybe could have used some more time being baked before heading out into the world.

I still love the horses. Maverick was such a sweet and good boy.

I'm guessing we have one more story before the GenCon plot is fully resolved, but it's definitely around the corner and due.

*WARNING* story contains explicit adult content
Cherry has an amazingly heartfelt story. I knew she had to have gone through some stuff to end up a madam on Mars. This brings a great closure to the cyborgs on Mars series. It most of the open questions. I'd like to have Serena's story yet, but ....
As with all of Honey Phillips' books, this was well written and well edited.

Liked this one much better than A Few Cyborg's More. Wyatt is the new Judge in town. Cherry is the local Madam. They knew each other on Earth, before he became a cyborg. I enjoyed the characters and the story. Although there is a relationship between them, it's not just about them. They have an unexpected issue on Mars that they, and their friends, have to contend with.

I have been so excited to finally get Wyatt and Cherry’s story. It’s an amazing story that wraps up a lot of loose ends for our couples. I hope there are more but even if there are not, it’s a good stopping point.

The writing and editing of this novel was super clean, with no typos that I could detect in the ARC version of the manuscript. The world building of Mars was quite good, with me the reader getting a good mental picture of the landscape of Mars and the town. The characterization was good, with both hero and heroine being vibrant, sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship between these two was fairly good, though the heroine's attitude that the hero forgot her on purpose did not make any logical sense whatsoever. Thankfully, that got cleared up before she became too annoying with her illogical assumptions. The plot and pacing was very exciting, with me turning the pages so quickly to find out what was going to happen next that the pages were smoking! This novel contained a medium amount of angst and very high stakes, so I was able to enjoy the angst somewhat because of the action and high stakes in this plot. This novel used the Second Chance trope and the Prostitute with a Heart of Gold trope common with many Westerns. The world building, plot and pacing were all four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship was also four stars. The combined score of this novel was therefore four stars. This novel has a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus to this whole series. I recommend this romance to fans of cyborg romances and the TV show Firefly. I plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, for sure.

Another great book! !!

Another excellent adventure in Mars !!
W-246 , Wyatt is a former soldier who Gen Con has gotten a hold of and changed him into a cyborg , sending him to the Mars project . On Mars , the Cyborgs are sent to get the planet ready for settlers from Earth . It takes them over 10 years to do so. Unbeknownst to Wyatt, he has left a brand spanking new wife back in Earth believing him dead.
Rachael has long thought of moving to Mars when it becomes time . She had a very brief but loving marriage to her Military husband and after finding out that he had, " died in service " , she felt that she had very little left on the overcrowded Earth to keep her . So , she along with some friends, began a business in Mars that was deemed
, " essential ". And as things went , she was happy. She had friends, a thriving business , and what more could she want .
It isn't until Rachael -- now called Cherry, hears Wyatt's voice , and immediately knows who he is . She knows What she is missing .But Wyatt doesn't seem to recognize her , at All .
What has happened to him ???

As things happen and the story brings theses two back together, we learn more about Gen Con , and what nefarious plans they have on the horizon that includes ALL of the Cyborgs and their families.
If you like some crazy adventure with your romance , then these books are for you !!!
Also can't wait for the next in this series . Serena and J-100 's story should be loads of suspenseful Fun !!!!

not quite 3 & 1/2 stars -not enough to round up...
While this book (#4) was better than book 3, it still wasn’t as much as I’d hoped for. To start with, these are getting so predictable, it’s a wash, rinse, & repeat for each book... The flow is decent & had I not needed a mindless reading experience today, I might have quit this book. I did like the main characters, Wyatt & Cherry, so that helped keep me in the story. Most of the main characters in this series are likable. I hate that almost every girl in the series has to go thru hell because of an “ex” coming to Mars to ruin her life. Come on, it can be changed up a little to make it different for each girl. I mean, all the women on Mars can’t have angry ex issues ruining their lives! Also, the Cyborgs seem less and less Cyborg with each book. I really want the “Cyborg” experience, this felt more like a “bionic man” TV show type of rehash, except cowboys with mechanical horses. I suppose I’m being harsh, but “Releasing Rage” by Cynthia Sax was the first Cyborg book I read, & that book has had me wanting to read about more of that kind of Cyborg...

THIS WAS OKAY. JUST YOUR AVERAGE FROM HONEY PHILLIPS.

HERO is married to our heroine for roughly 2 weeks before something made him run away from the guilt he feels from not being able to save someone's life. He couldn't bring himself to open up to his wife and went on another government mission which ended up with him losing his 'life' and memories. Now, he's no longer Wyatt but just a cyborg with a number for a name. Fast forward to the future, he's like an authority figure in a part of Mars where he meets his wife again, except she's a stranger who goes by a different name now. I'll be honest and say that the story had potential but I wasn't feeling it too much. Everything was quite predictable.

HEROINE felt bereft and completely lost when her husband never made it home and they told him he was dead. Leaving Earth, she builds a new life as a Madame of the flesh (sex, duh)...like a sci-fi brothel? Anyway, she's utterly shocked to find Wyatt again and realizing he has no memory of her or their whirlwind marriage. Cherry is an average heroine. There's not much layers to her character, in fact this applies to all the characters in the story or the plot for that matter.

OVERALL you can take this as a quickie read like I did after a long day at work. It's easy to read, not taxing on the brain and with a little passion. But, I won't say it's a masterpiece.

Series: Cyborgs on Mars #4
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

W-246 doesn’t remember how he became a cyborg but he has accepted his role as the new territorial judge. When he encounters Madam Cherry he is instantly smitten but why does she also seem so familiar.

This was a great second chance romance. Cherry has been one of the few women in this series and I have been wanting to know her story from the beginning. She has had a very interesting and sad past. I like that she set up this brothel business to start a new life away from Earth and to keep the girls safe. She is just a wonderfully developed character.

Wyatt has amnesia so he doesn’t remember his past with Cherry. It was sad that he doesn’t remember Cherry but it gave them a chance to get to know the people they are now, not the people they were. Wyatt was a great hero and I liked his dedication to helping people.

Things are definitely ramping up with GenCon in this one. They are getting more out of control and the cyborgs are finally making plans to deal with it. I will be interested in seeing how it plays out in the next book, especially since that one is apparently Serina’s book.

Danger, intrigue and love

I loved, loved Wyatt and Cherry’s second chance, human-cyborg romance with a side of amnesia and danger. The story had a wonderful mix of sweet, spicy, real life issues, and sci-fi elements. I am really liking the blending of romance, sci-fi, and westerns in this series. The combination is a really appealing mix in a hero. Wyatt, aka W-246, is a cyborg who has been on Mars for a decade helping to prepare the planet for humans. He is now a Ranger and the new Territorial Judge in New Arcadia helping to keep law and order. Cherry owns the local brothel and is a kind and generous woman. She was married briefly to a military officer but he died. When they are introduced, she is shocked to see that Wyatt, her dead husband, is the new judge. And while she remembers every minute of their brief marriage, Wyatt does not remember her at all. But can they find their way back to each while dealing with the increasing danger and political machinations of the planet. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, characters with dimension and an engaging storyline as shown through sweet moments, spicy scenes, painful pasts, coincidences, danger, and chuckles. 4.5 stars

Wyatt and Cherry 5🌟's

Oh how I adore cyborg cowboys and those magnificent horses! 💖 this is the fourth installment of this series and each one has a wonderful couple with something that adds to the over all story that unfolds in each novel. We met Cherry a few books ago and I loved her then but she became a true hero to me after reading her story and finding out how she handled the tragedies in her life. Wyatt was a soldier and now he's the new judge, he's funny, sexy and doesn't remember the one woman he's ever truly loved. The government took his life and every time he tries to remember excruciating pain explodes through his head. This story brings us closer to the cyborg /Mars rebellion there is lots of action but it's the story between the the lead characters is intense and we'll written filled with so much passion and love well worth the read! These books are what is keeping me sane in these insane quarantine times. So thank you honey Phillips for writing books that I can lose myself in and that never fail to put a smile on my face and a yearning in my heart. Loved it 💖

A fantastically addictive story! This book is hard to put down once you start reading it! I loved the characters in this book, maybe more than the ones in the previous books, but all of them were great too. Cherry and Wyatt have a history that only one of them remembers and the emotional drama that comes from that almost kills the romance before it has a chance to pick up again. The story itself is engrossing, completely addictive because as you're reading you keep thinking what else the evil GenCon corporation can possibly do to make living on Mars any more difficult. The characters in this story have all been introduced through the previous stories in this series, but there is a new one, that may hopefully get his own too, and I'm curious about Serena and what it is that motivates her to do what she does. I have loved this entire series and look forward to everything that Honey Phillips puts out, so I'm a fan for sure, but it doesn't change the fact that this book is a marvelous piece of writing that I think you will enjoy reading. Although it's part of a series, it can easily be read alone, but then you'll want to go back and read the ones before it too, lol.

Separated from her husband by his military service and thinking him dead, Cherry moves to Mars, and with EarthGov's backing, starts a bordello.

Many of the ex military cyborgs that terraformed Mars have found wives among the settlers, including the Judge, so Wyatt, another cyborg, is called down from the power plants at the pole to become the new Judge. When he comes to introduce himself to Cherry, she recognises him as her supposedly dead husband, but he does not remember her. She tries to jog his memory, but each sliver of memory gained causes Wyatt great pain, and GenCon is up to more evil doings that cause trouble, in the kidnappings, attempted murders, and attempted takeover of the whole planet, Wyatt regains his memories, and f everyone learn s of the atrocities earth gov and it's military are committing on Earth, and decide its time to be self governing, no Earth, and no GenCon. It's work, especially for the cyborg police force and Judges, but there is a final happy ending in this super second chance romance.

I voluntarily read an arc of this book for an honest review. This series just keeps getting better and better. The plot thickens with each new story and the love stories just get hotter. This one is about the Mars madam Cherry. She was very mysterious in the last book and her story was definitely one worth waiting for. Wyatt shows up on Mars as the new Ranger. When Cherry meets him she literally faints at the sight. They both immediately feel a connection but due to his memory loss he can’t figure out why and she’s not willing to risk being hurt again. GenCon is back to its nasty tricks and these two get caught up in the middle of it along with their friends. The cyborgs make some new discoveries of their own and move towards independence. I am loving seeing all these couples get their happily ever after. This was a super hot, super sexy, interesting read. I can’t recommend it enough!

Good

W-246 (Wyatt) and Cherry

Wyatt and Cherry have a history, unfortunately Wyatt has no memories of it, leaving Cherry feeling somewhat bereft.
When one of her friends seems to be in trouble, Wyatt and Cherry go racing to the rescue, and find themselves in danger.

This is the fourth book in the series, and builds on previous ones while setting up the next one, so while the romance is standalone, the rest of the story is not.
It’s a quick read, but advances the background story a lot and sets up the subsequent tale too.
There’s action, adventure, romance… and a second chance for our hero and heroine.
We first met Cherry way back in the first book, she’s always been a sympathetic character even considering her position in town. Wyatt is a lot newer on the scene, but has a rather unique issue that the other cyborgs don’t have.

An enjoyable addition to the series, and a fun read for the sci-fi romance enthusiast.

This one is the one that broke me. The world building is so inconsistent. There’s no gov’t on earth that’s gonna fund a settlement on Mars, they’re barely funding orbiting our own planet. Space settlement is gonna be private industry.

Where are they getting paper for this paperwork.

They’re still scrabbling in the ground and they’re fighting with the only private corporation represented in the planet, now is a PERFECT time to declare independence from earth. And earth is just like yeah sure that sounds good, byeeeee. Like if it’s the gov’t funding the colony to start, why? What was the purpose? And why are they so willing to just say sayonara without bloodshed of some kind?

The villains are all so fucking cartoonish, I burst out in hysterical laughter when the nephew of her dead husband who wanted to own her showed up on Mars. Just. Where did you come from and why.

I was initially gonna read until I got to Serena but I don’t think I’m gonna be able to.

I loved the characters in this book! Especially enjoyed reading about Madame Cherry because she has appeared in the previous books and I've been curious about her. She needed her own story. The twist? That her husband, Wyatt, that had disappeared years ago was suddenly there on Mars. But it's more than that, he'd been on Mars all along! But Wyatt doesn't remember Cherry because something was done to his memory. It was great watching these two get to know one another again. Wyatt provided the perfect balance between being an alpha male and still showing his sweet side to Cherry. The steamy scenes in this book were perfect, too! And the bad guy from earth, Antoni, was a properly evil antagonist. I really want to read Serena's story next! I got the pleasure of being a beta reader on The Magnificent Cyborg and it was fun to have that first look. Great book ! 4 stars!

“…I hope soon we will be in complete control of our destiny.”

When Cherry first encounters the new Cyborg Judge on Mars she’s shocked. Wyatt doesn’t recognize her, doesn’t know her at all. How could the man who once meant everything to her have no memory of her?

Wyatt doesn’t remember the accident in which he was so badly injured he became a Cyborg… and until Cherry he had no reason to struggle to remember more. But how could he have forgotten a woman like this?

This done in one story moves forward the overarching arc with GenCon, really builds on the friendships among the Cyborgs and how these loners are learning to bonds as friends, and part of the community. I loved seeing a gruff old human interact with Sam and Wyatt when the town needed help… it was like a scene out of an old Western movie, and played beautifully.

A must read for sci-fi romance fans!

Everyone needs to read this series! Start at the beginning and you won't be disappointed.
Wyatt and Cherry have a past together. A past that consisted of them being married. A past of him being in the military and dieing. A past that he has no memory of.
She is hurt emotionally after seeing him again. She doesn't really want anything to do with him since he doesn't remember her.
Is she willing to pretend as if they just met and start over again or is the pain too much to bear?
GenCon is also creating new problems that has to be solved.
I am not ready for this series to be over. Please write more. Maybe even give Serena a happy ever after?

Awesome story about cyborg and their human mate

Wyatt is a cyborg who is assign to be the replacement judge on Mars. While introducing himself, he meets Cherry, the local Madam. Cherry is Wyatt's wife who he doesn't remembered having. The government of Earth have change some soldiers into cyborgs without their permission and humans consider them second class citizen. Will they have a second chance to be reunited?

The characters are intriguing, sexy, and emotional. The plot is the fast paced drama with a thrilling turn. I like how the author has written a scifi combined with a Western story. Highly recommended. I wish this series could have continued on because I enjoyed it so much.

2.5-3 starts.

I sorta liked it, sorta did not. I didn’t like that cherry was a madam. I don’t know why it just felt wrong. And then our MMC, he was okay. I mean, I also felt the story dragged on. I didn’t much care for Serena and her dealings. So I didn’t care about the last part with her story line.

I enjoy the epilogue and knowing that Sam is now president. I do feel that I don’t need to know about Serena and her past. Plus I feel that for me, this book ended the series.

The books are a lot of rinse and repeat. And it’s okay for a few books, but then it’s like, I need a pause.

The narrators were very good. I always enjoy Jason Clarke’s voices (male and female). The female was ok too.

A page-turner! Well done!
I’ve been interested in Madam Cherry since she was first introduced in book one. There is so much more to her than her Martian career choice would indicate. Then W-246 shows up and things heat up fast. Wyatt seems to have a good heart, if a faulty memory. He is very persistent, dedicated to his job as well as his attraction to the lovely Ms. Cherry. What enjoyable reading! So many things going on; GenCon is relentless in their evil plans. I love reading about some of the secondary characters. The way humans and cyborgs work together is admirable. Do read! Cherry’s and Wyatt’s story is - well - magnificent!

This should actually be called The Magnificent Cyborg Story, because wow and yum! Rebecca and Wyatt were terrific characters who truly deserved their HEA after all they went through. I haven't read all the books in the series, but it was still easy to follow along and fun to catch up on everything that's transpired with all the other wonderful residents of Mars. Heartbreak, sorrow, loss, courage, resiliance, carpe diem, conspiracy, intrigue, sacrifice, new beginnings, hope, and love were some of the major underlying themes in this thrilling and steamy adventure.

I received a free copy of The Magnificent Cyborg, but that did not affect my review.

...and the good guys win!

I have to laugh. I rarely read westerns, or cowboy romance. So, along comes Honey Phillips' Magnificent Cyborg - and I'm reading a Western! And I'm lovin' it! This one's got all the required features: Heroic, stoic lawman? Check. Totally boss madame-with-a-heart-of-gold? Double check. Trusty sidekicks? Loyal, honest townsfolk? Villainous outsider business interests? Creepy stalker ex? Quadruple check. And cyborg horses?? Check, YEAH! Plus, it's Martian high desert, not Earth, and the settlers are claiming Red Planet homesteads. It's a cute and fun read, a lovely romance, and one of the best "Gunsmoke" re-runs I've never seen.

This time we got Cherrys Story. When Cherry meets her husband Wyatt again after years of thinking he is dead, she doesn’t care that he is now a cyborg but it hurts her badly when she realizes he doesn’t know who she is anymore.

I really like this series by Honey Phillips. While we always got others as the main characters there is still a story spanning over all the books. That also means we always get to see the characters from the other books again and that freakin amazing.

This story was great. Nothing super outstanding but nice. I really like Cherry and Wyatt was great too. I liked them together.

I also really liked the end.

Cherry’s husband was reported MIA a couple of weeks after they got married, imagine her shock when he turns up as law enforcement on Mars where she’s now the owner of a ‘pleasure house’. He’s not the person she remembers as he’s now made up of Cyborg parts. He has a chip implanted to stop memories but has flashbacks occurring. This really is a story of how love can overcome the most dire of consequences, how love conquers all in the end.

Each story is new and exciting. This story is about Cherry who is a madam. Wyatt shows up as to Mars as the new Ranger. They both feel a connection to each other. It seems that they have meet before but he can't remember, due to his memory loss, and Cherry isn't willing to risk being hurt again. Like the rest of Honey Philips stories they are full of action and heartbreak. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I'm glad that things worked out between the H and h.
