Her professional life would be perfect, if he’d get out of her way.
Vanessa Fisher delights in providing the flowers for weddings and other social events. Except when Topher Adams is doing the cake. The man is always rearranging her centerpieces and deriding her job. It’s almost as if he’s doing it just to get under her skin.
Topher can get along with everyone—with the notable exception of Vanessa. That woman brings out the worst in him. It wouldn’t be a problem if she wasn’t so good at what she did. As it is, they keep ending up at more and more events together.
Something has to change, and Topher is man enough to take the first step.
When he drops by her shop with a peace offering, he walks in on a tense moment between Vanessa and her mother. Agreeing to be Vanessa’s date at a family dinner is easy. Having her in his debt is just a bonus.
Vanessa realizes spending time with Topher isn’t so bad. Maybe they could continue the charade for a few more weeks.
A fake relationship with Vanessa? What could go wrong?
It’s not like they’re going to fall in love for real . . .
Return to Peacock Hill and reconnect with old friends and make new ones in this clean, Christian contemporary romance full of realistic problems and a journey to lasting love.
USA Today bestselling author Elizabeth Maddrey is a semi-reformed computer geek and homeschooling mother of two who lives in the suburbs of Washington D.C. When she isn’t writing, Elizabeth is a voracious consumer of books. She loves to write about Christians who struggle through their lives, dealing with sin and receiving God’s grace on their way to their own romantic happily ever after.
While not my favourite of the series, I still liked this one better than the last. The hero was again, almost too good to be true, a Godly man who knew how to treat women right. However, I wish that the heroine was better at not overreacting to everything and was also better at communicating well. I'm scared to see how their HEA looks if she doesn't improve a lot in this area.
Vanessa and Topher have been like oil and water, constantly getting on one another's nerves. Poor Sean (you do remember him from A Heart Redirected, right?), the wedding planner, had his hands full with the two of them, especially as they were both becoming quite popular for weddings. I enjoyed getting to know these two and watching them go from practically sworn enemies to falling in love.
I especially enjoyed the afternoon when Sean and Topher joined the other men linked to Peacock Hill to hang out. Only to find out these more outdoorsy and athletic guys planned on doing archery. Because Sean and Topher are not the outdoorsy and athletic types, the result was less than ideal. Topher's response was classic, and if it would make any sense out of context, I would quote it in its entirety here!
Elizabeth Maddrey seems never to be afraid of tackling difficult subjects and A Heart Rearranged is no exception. You may recall from my review of A Heart Redirected that there was a discussion about Sean having an offer to coordinate a wedding between two men. Well, they are friends of Topher's, and their relationship is now in trouble. I appreciated, yet again, the Biblically sound and compassionate way that Topher counseled and prayed for Brian and shared the truth with him as well.
If you enjoy a sweet romance that will make you smile and challenge you to a deeper walk with the Lord, I recommend A Heart Rearranged. If you have not already read the other Peacock Hill stories, I encourage you to read them in order first. Not because this one does not stand alone, it does; however, the stories build on each other and it will greatly enhance your reading experience.
I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
Relationships and life can be messy. Topher and Vanessa had history, and it wasn't always good. Vanessa and her brother had history with each other, as well as with their parents. Topher had history with his high school friend who continued to live a lifestyle contrary to what Jesus knew what was best. And the author is able to make it all work out in a God-honoring, heartwarming story. I love the happy ending.
When I met Vanessa in prior books, I really didn't like her, she was a flirt and slightly obnoxious. Seeing her with new eyes, understanding why she acted the way she did helped. Topher accepted her for who she was, even when she wasn't always sure herself. I'm still not sure I care for her parents, while her brother is pretty adorable!
Another enjoyable book in this series. Two people who got on each others nerves because there was something there. It just took them awhile to see it. I loved Topher’s testimony to his friend even though most Christians shy away from that. But he is right, it’s all about Jesus. He is our answer, our solution.
Fun to see a different trope (enemies to lovers) This was a sweet and clean romance, I would rate it PG for kissing. Still love seeing all the characters from Peacock Hill!
One thing about this author she knows how to pull you in so tight and keep you where you have to hurry on to the next book. I don't just want to know about the next couple but I want to know about the couple and how there story move forward.
I have loved every book in the Peacock Hill series, but I think A Heart Rearranged is my favorite so far! It was so sweet to watch Topher try to woo Vanessa. She's a florist and he's a baker and he brought her a bouquet of cupcakes! The thing that I love the most about this series is how well the author writes about the lives of Christian singles. This book was no exception. I also really like the spiritual elements that this author weaves in. This book talked about homosexuality, honoring the sabbath, and conviction of the Holy Spirit. This book had a few spots that were confusing or seemed repetitive, however this didn't keep me from absolutely loving this book. This book is the fifth in the series, but can easily be read as a stand alone.
Vanessa and Topher seem to always be at odds with each other. Topher has his own bakery and loves creating his cakes. Vanessa has her own flower shop and does an amazing job not overstaging his cakes when they are working the same wedding. He decides to apologize for his rude behavior towards her and steps into her shop, only to leave with a “date” at her parents house. Lots of relationship angst between Vanessa and her parents. Her brother Jamie, crashes at her place and Topher also has an unexpected roommate, Brian, due to his need for a place to stay. We head to Peacock Hill and see a part of the gang there as well. I absolutely love this series and the characters that we’ve been introduced to. All of them bring their own unique twist to the storylines and Topher and Vanessa are no different. Loved getting to know them, the real them, and seeing more into one of the characters from Peacock Hill. Looking forward to seeing what is next for us in this delightful series. An advanced copy was provided by the author. A review was not required and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
A Heart Rearranged is a fun, heart warming romance. I love these Peacock Hill books. Vanessa and Topher were great antagonists and fun, interesting characters. This well written romance looks at many kinds of relationships. Vanessa's with her parents who apparently do not want their adult children to be adults. Will Vanessa and Topher stop arguing long enough to find love. There is an amazing, inspirational, supportive group of friends living and working at Peacock Hill. I think I would like to join that community. I could not stop reading until I reached the end!
Vanessa and Topher have been arguing for years. When Topher decides to be friends with Vanessa she is suspicious. The characters on Peacock Hill are all truly inspirational people. Elizabeth Maddrey’s is a amazing author, she will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.
I really enjoyed Vanessa and Topher's story. Maddrey does a good job with the “antagonist to lover” trope, and I kept rooting for the two of them to communicate and realize they like each other :-) There's also lots of good insights into relationships of all kinds – siblings, parent/child, and friends of the same sex. This book is a great addition to the Peacock Hill series.
I love books. Good books. And this is a GOOD book. I loved that the h/H were annoyed and irritated with each other at the beginning of the book. It made their turn around so much sweeter. Can’t wait to read the next one.
This is a romance about overcoming obstacles to find love with God's guidance. I loved the story and filled with nee friends and old. This book is highly recommended.
Topher and Vanessa have a strange relationship. They see each other at events they work at and tolerate each other. Until Topher takes the first step. Vanessa needs someone to deceive her parents. Can the magic of Peacock Hill shine again.?.
