BOOK DESCRIPTIONPagan Sinclair...Former Navy SEAL. One of America's forgotten heroes. Baby Brother...Just when Pagan thinks he's good with the risky life of a black operator, he gets an assignment to delete Vicki Hex. The most lethal hitwoman in history, Miss Hex is also a good friend's sister. Pagan can't just end her, not without knowing who's behind her kill order. That's not who he is or how he works. Oh, hell no...Vicki Hex...Mafia assassin. Sassy dominatrix. Keeper of secrets...Vicki's not proud of her lethal kill record, but she'd end every last one of those mobsters again if she could. Known for winging-not killing-first responders, she wakes up one particularly dark night in a shallow grave west of Chicago. There aren't many guys or gals brave enough to end her. Too bad for them that she's still alive. And now she's mad...
Growing up in the countryside of Wisconsin, I always wanted to be a writer. I've dabbled in poetry, short stories, and more daydreaming than most. Way back when, I remember long Sunday afternoon drives with my parents where they'd tell us eight kids to, 'Look out the window and see something!'
I've been looking out the window ever since . . .
In the great Northwest pines, I saw a woman who had nowhere to run find refuge in the arms of a tender warrior seeking his own road to healing. In the hills of Wyoming, I saw a broken man who thought he'd lost everything rediscover the man he was in the eyes of a pretty girl. And in the Dairy State, (yes Wisconsin), I saw two people fall in love and overcome horrific obstacles on their way to happily-ever-after.
Life is short. Pick up a good book. Read. Write. Enjoy. Look out the window and see something!
Once again Irish Winters hits straight to the heart with the characters in this book. While reading you can 'see' each character in your head. It's so easy to get lost in their emotions and feel like a part of you is there with them through it all. The relationship between the Sinclair brothers is heart warming. In this book, Pagan will melt you. He is a man who loves his country and his family and would do anything for them. When he falls it is hard and deep. He is the manly man type - the man who wants the little woman at home with the babies. Of course, the 'little woman' he falls for is not that type at all. Read the book and fall in love - and you can laugh at my use of air quotes along with me.
This book is really good. The best part beyond the action, suspense and usual alpha seal hero? The badass heroine! Who repeatedly tells the H that he is a chauvinistic ass and needs to realise that in the 21st century femal CIA agents are no damsels in distress! That was crazy refreshing :)
There are no spoilers, no story outline in my review. Just an honest assessment of how much I loved this book I love the Sinclair boys in Angel. In Assassin, which is Pagan's story, you get to know them far better. I loved Pagans character in Chance's book, but this story blew me out of the water. We had met Vicki Hex before, the chemistry between her and Pagan is probably unrivaled by any other couple. I love reading Irish"s books and this needs to be on you must read list. It is powerful, it is emotional and frankly I found it brilliant Make sure you buy it.
Pagan Sinclair is notified that his next assignment is to take out Vicki Hex but there is no way he is about to do that without knowing who is behind the kill order. Vicki wakes up in a shallow grave somewhere realizing someone is trying to kill her…bad news for them! This is an action packed, suspenseful romance. There are some very exciting, edge of your seat scenes and an off the charts romance between Pagan and Vicki. I am certainly never left disappointed after reading one of Irish Winters’ stories and this one is definitely not an exception. This is the second book to another amazing, must read series!
Irish Winters is one of my favorite romantic military suspense authors. The plot, the storyline, the surprising twists and turns and characters you fall in love with all create a mesmerizing read.
We first briefly met Pagan (don't you love that sexy name!) Sinclair and Vicki Hex in Angel (SOB Book 1) and this is their story. Both are elite assassins, Pagan for a very secretive government group, Vicki, a double agent. Someone has put out a hit on Vicki and Pagan is the one assigned to do the job. The only problem-she is the sister of his best friend. With some harrowing incidents for the couple, you begin to wonder if someone is actually out to kill Vicki or is that person after Pagan. The couple's romance had to overcome many terrorizing obstacles but in the end it was so beautiful the way Ms. Winters described Pagan at the church door watching Vicki.
Not only is this a story of romance, terror and suspense but one of family and family ties. The Sinclair brothers are there for each other when needed. Their late mother has taught then love and respect for family, friends and country. This plays such an important role in their lives and this story. Vicki is a strong, fierce, independent woman but her brother, Julio, is in the shadows ready to protect her. And in the epilogue, we see Julio in a very poignant and chilling scene, despondent over the deaths of his wife and son.
I received an ARC of this book and I highly recommend it.
Irish Winters--you've done it again. You've created characters that leap off the pages to show us who they are and what their family and people they love mean to them. Pagan, the youngest brother, is the best kind of book boyfriend. He's hot and a tough former Navy SEAL, now in a Special Black Ops team of Assassins. The inside Pagan loves his family, is a bit jealous of the family his brother is building with the strongest of women. He wants his own family as well.
An assignment comes in to take out Ms. Hex. She's her own strong woman and one who Pagan has watched from afar--well not so far the time she shot him in the butt... The team doesn't just take any assignment, they vote. Before going for Ms. Hex they need more info.
The author always manages to make you care deeply about her characters and this is no different. These strong dangerous people have inside needs and pain easily ignored if you don't look closer. The author forces us to look that deep. Her scenes are hot, filled with dynamic action and unforgettable. Just when you think you've got it--wrong--you don't and another curve has changed the course.
Don't miss this one and as for me, I loved it, recommend it, and can't wait for the next one.
With each book Irish Winters writes I am hooked. Especially with “Assassin,” the second SOB novel series. From the very beginning I was hooked, there was such passion between these two that I just had to read on. What I absolutely love about Irish Winter’s books is the descriptions, the amount of detail, that I feel like I’m in the book. This book is Pagan Sinclair and Victoria “Vicki” Hex story. These two characters just leap off the page with there strength and power. Vicki is an Assassin but Pagan receives a kill order for Vicki Hex. For it has been ordered that she has gone rogue. Pagan and his brothers don’t like this order, Pagan thought it might be time to rethink the SOB. Pagan has rules no woman or children. What is amazing even though Vicki is such a strong character but deep down where she doesn’t show but she does has feelings. Especially when she woke up in a grave, she was furious. Now the question is does Pagan go past his ideal on what a wife or woman should be? To find out what happens between these two I believe as a reader you should read this book to find out. I highly recommend this book.
I was given an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest review.
Ms. Winters provides twists and turns with Assassin that’s for sure. I was impressed with the heroine Miss. Hex. She was tough lady. Nothing and nobody would slow her down. She was after all an assassin, and a darn good one. When she runs into Pagan Sinclair one night. She must have beaten him to the same job. She knew she caught him off guard. The next time she saw him was very unexpected. She knew he was up to something.
Pagan was shocked to run up against Miss Hex. She was a great assassin and so was he. But running into her was a bit bizarre. The next time was weird because it was a job his brothers told him needed to be done. He didn’t like it one bit. When he came face to face to her at her place something was off. Then things became dicey. Someone was after Victoria.
Vicki Hex, sexy assassin double agent, has a target on her back. Who wants her dead? The Sinclair brothers, SOB, are helping to solve the big question. Pagan, the Baby Brother, has become more invested than the others. It's an intricate tale of back stabbing, double agents, secrets and really cool weapons. Living a double life has got to be tiresome for Vicki, but Pagan is determined to rescue her. The SOB series is an edge of your seat ride that doesn't really stop. My nerves were shot by the end of this story. I received my copy from the author, but the review was written voluntarily.
Pagan caught my attention at the very beginning and it did not take much for me to fall under his spell. When I got his book i was thrilled and stayed up all night to read it. Although it took me a few chapters to get into it, it ended up being an amazing story as all Of Irish Winters books are. Miss Hex took a bit to warm up to, in the beginning it drove me crazy how hot and cold she would be but as we learned more about her i totally understand it. There are so many twists in this book that it kept me on my toes and wondering what would be next. If you ave not read the SOB series you need to start and trust me you will be hooked.
Pagan may have been a hot “Baby Boy” and Miss Hex may have fallen for him, but he sure did seem to have a hard time keeping up sometimes. It’s a wonder that he survived his fall into love with this wickedly smart woman. I sure did want to thunk his noggin at times for how he was thinking. I loved how strong Vicki Hex was and the roles that she had to play to keep everyone in balance. The book had a good split of perspectives. There were a number of pieces moving. It was a good story that flowed well and kept me intrigued. This is part of the SOB series. It can be read as a stand-alone. You'll probably want to read the first book to pick up the small nuances for better enjoyment.
Irish Winters is a character savant. She can weave a tale like no other but it’s her characters that get you.
Pagan is your quintessential “man’s man”. He’s a warrior and a protector, but he’s not afraid to let his emotions show and tears fall. He longs for his own wife and kids. He wants a housewife but the woman he falls for is not her, or is she?
Vicki Hex is not your typical lady. She’s a mafia assassin that dresses like a street walker. She’s a hard core feminist but don’t let her facade fool you. It was hard for me to like her at first but she’s like an onion that needs her layers peeled off to discover the “real” woman inside.
Two snipers after the same mark. One, Pagan Sinclair, part of the SOBs, a covert team working for Senator Sullivan; the other, Vicki Hex, hit woman for the Sicilian mob based in Chicago. Miss Hex is also the person who shot Pagan in the butt several months ago during an op.
The book takes the reader on a roller coaster ride with unmanned helicopters with 50 caliber rounds trying to destroy Vicki, rogue agents, double crosses, and the beginning of a love match.
Some spelling and grammatical errors keep it from getting a 5 star rating but don’t take away from the great storytelling of Irish Winters.
OMG! Just when you thought Irish could not surpass herself, she comes out with Assassin! Vicki Hex, the kickass killer with a heart of ice comes face to face with Pagan Sinclair, one of the Sin Boys. They both end up on the same “job” and sparks fly. Vicki has had the hots for Pagan since she shot him in the butt on a job. This is a major, bite your nails, what is going to happen next book. When Paloma enters the picture things really heat up! Pagan is head over heals in love with Vicki/Paloma and someone is out to kill them both! This is a must read!

Pagan Sinclair, former Navy seal and black operator, doesn’t want the assignment to take out Vickie Hex - at least without knowing who wants her dead and why. She’s one of the sexiest, most lethal assassins out there. She’s also the sister of a friend. Someone with power has to be behind this one. Pagan’s need to protect this frustrating woman and Vickie’s need to protect herself just adds to an already tumultuous relationship. This is an action-packed thriller that won’t let you down.
Once again Irish Winters brings her book to life. Assassin is another book I could not put down until the end. Pagan and Hex are made for each other they just didn't know it yet. When hex finds herself in trouble and not knowing where to turn for help pagan shows up unannounced and uninvited as far as hex is concerned. Through fire and more they come together to try to figure out who is after hex. But some twists and turns bring more to the ballfield than they expected.
I say this after I have read everyone of Irish Winter's books but I really think this is one of her best. I couldn't put it down. If you are a fan of Irish Winters you are going to love it no doubt! If you have never read her books, I ask you why not?? You really need to get this book so you can become a fan too!
This is an excellent read! I have yet to find a book by Ms. Irish that’s not incredible. Non-stop adventure, page-turner, hot-hot lovers, and an alpha male who learns that women are so much more than homemakers and mothers. Vicky/Paloma is a bad a$$ b*#!h with a huge heart. Highly recommend this new series of SOB’s. 🙃
Angel and Assassin, Books 1 and 2 in Winters’ SOBs series are exceptional. The characters have depth and honor and integrity. The Sinclair brothers suffer but maintain their hearts and kindness. The moment the next book in the series drops, my schedule will be cleared to read it!
Once I started I couldn’t put it down I swear Irish winters books just keep getting better and better Pagan is such a sweetheart I cried when he cried I was sad when the book ended I will definitely be be going back to read this book
WARNING!!!! This book is so addictive that you will not sleep, do chores, or even work ( yes I took time off work to finish this book) and once you are done you will crave more and more. Ms Winters books are my drug very very addictive. This book was givin to me by the author for an honest review.
Loved the book!!!! I still don’t know how Irish manages to develop the characters capturing so much personality and depth to them. This book had a lot of surprises that I didn’t see coming – makes for a really good read, one that was hard to put down.
The minute you open this book you are on a race to the end. It’s a complete page turner, you will be lost in the characters and the story. Can’t wait for the next in this series. Everything Irish Winters writes is amazing!
Irish Winters always come thru from start to finish. This book was not what I expected. I could not put the book down great story Pagan and Vicki are great together and how he gets the job done. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series
