Big, hot Sapphire Falls cop Scott Hansen, is the source of Peyton Wells’ dirtiest daydreams.
He has only one fault in her opinion…he’s crazy about her.
Scott knows Peyton didn’t exactly grow up with the best role models for strong, healthy relationships but he’s willing to use anything necessary to prove her wrong... even hand cuffs. *wink wink*
She’s all in on the handcuffs, but why does he have to keep using the R word? Relationships are firmly on her avoid-at-all-costs list. Why can’t the guy just be happy with no-strings sex?
But, when Scott’s injured on the job, Peyton can’t stand the idea of anyone but her playing nurse—and Scott sees the perfect opportunity to show her that a relationship with him can be the best time she’s ever had. Even if it means staying out of her bed until she’s ready to commit to something as simple as a damned movie date.
But nothing with Peyton is ever easy. After all, he doesn’t call her Trouble for nothing…
*This title was previously published as After All.
Erin Nicholas is the New York Times bestselling author of over sixty sexy contemporary romances. Her stories have been described as toe-curling, enchanting, steamy and fun.
She lives in the Midwest with her husband who only wants to read the sex scenes in her books, her kids who will never read the sex scenes in her books, and family and friends who say they’re shocked by the sex scenes in her books (yeah, right!).
This story was sweet, but I felt like I was missing the backstory. I didn’t fully understand why Scott was holding out on sex with Peyton. He gave in rather quickly and the relationship evolved naturally. It might have been better if they met when the book started instead of already knowing each other for years. I assume Scott was celibate since knowing Peyton as an adult- they both grew up in the same small town, but it wasn’t mentioned if they knew each other as kids. I would have liked some details on his past with other women- not details, but some info. We got basics about Peyton, but nothing about Scott even though it was clear he knew what he was doing in the bedroom and he mentioned sex was one of his favorite things.
Blurb: Big, hot Sapphire Falls cop Scott Hansen, the source of Peyton Wells’ dirtiest daydreams, has only one fault… he’s crazy about her.
She’ll do absolutely anything Scott asks if he obeys three simple rules: they’re both naked; there are lots of hands and lips involved; and they absolutely do not call it a relationship. The R word gives her hives. Why can’t the guy just be happy with no-strings sex?
Scott knows Peyton didn’t exactly grow up with the best role models for strong, healthy relationships. Her dad gave up everything for his mentally-ill wife, including being a real father to his daughter. Now in charge of her own life, Peyton wants a good time devoid of any responsibility for someone else’s happiness. But Scott’s determined to be the one person in her life to show her that she’s worth an effort — even if it means staying out of her bed until she’s ready to commit to something as simple as a damned movie date.
But, when Scott’s injured on the job, Peyton can’t stand the idea of anyone but her playing nurse — and Scott sees the perfect opportunity to show her that a relationship with him can be the best time she’s ever had.
But nothing with Peyton is ever easy. After all, he doesn’t call her Trouble for nothing…
AFTER ALL is another fantastic addition to Erin Nicholas's little town of Sapphire Falls. Peyton Wells may be the town's go to Party Girl and nothing but trouble at times, but Scott Hansen, the cop in town, doesn't want anyone but her. She's it for him... if only he can convince her to take a chance on him. I got a taste of Peyton and Scott, in Erin's novella Wild Enough and then more in Erin's very sexy prequel, After Party. I strongly recommend them both. I couldn't wait to read more. Couldn't wait to see whether Scott or Peyton would win their battle of wills.
Like all of the Sapphire Falls small town romances, there are plenty of laughs, good friends always there to tease and have a good time with, a romance between a big, sexy guy and a beautiful feisty gal, and just a feeling of being a part of something pure and sweet and yet really, really, steamy! I find myself falling in love each and every time I read one of these books. I highly recommend this one! 4 stars.
~Complimentary copy received. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
It feels so incredible to be back in Sapphire Falls!!!! It's, without a doubt, my favorite fictional town. Erin Nicholas has created this incredible place with these amazing people that I simply can't get enough of! After All is the newest edition and the build of Scott & Peyton's story has been well worth the wait. We've been getting snippets of these two for a while now, but FINALLY we get their happily ever after!
Scott needed a little help. Getting accidentally shot in the leg will cause that for a guy. And there is no one who will take better care of him than Peyton. The same girl who he wants to settle down with, have a life with, be there for, the one who turns him on just because she's breathing. The girl who doesn't want anything from him other than a good time. Or so he thinks.
Peyton rushed to be by Scott's side when hearing about his injury. She'd do just about anything to take care of him, and nurse him back to health. Even playing house for a couple of weeks, even though that's not who she is. At least that's what she tells herself. She doesn't want to need anybody. Depending on someone makes her uncomfortable. But, with her past, can anyone blame her?
Finding their way to each other was a crazy sexy road. A sexy road that involved sexy nursing costumes, maple syrup, playing house, and learning a thing or two about each other. You definitely don't want to miss this story!!!
This is Erin Nicholas at her best...writing about the love that happens in Sapphire Falls. Don't get me wrong, I love all of her other books, she's a phenomenal story teller. But Sapphire Falls is her THING. The cadence of the story, the development of the characters and each step they take to fall in love...each and every little detail that makes Sapphire Falls the town you wish was real..it's all here in After All. You get a taste of all your favorite Sapphire Falls couples, the places that make the town real and the fun that you wish you could have there.
Scott is the perfect mix of sweet and sexy. Peyton is the woman who riles Scott up and yet brings him to his knees with just a look. When Scott is accidentally shot while Peyton is in Baltimore, she rushes home to be by his bedside and she agrees to be his nurse. Peyton agrees to try to do normal couple things while taking care of Scott and he agrees to try his hardest to seduce her. Peyton is on the road to self-discovery and Scott is the one to help her figure out who she wants to be.
There's a lot of fun, maple syrup and romance in Sapphire Falls. After All, what else could be better?
A feel good, sweetly sexy, emotionally freeing and highly entertaining small town opposites attract romance. I enjoy every visit to Saphire Falls and this one did not disappoint.
Steaming hot Sapphire Falls cop Scott Hansen is the object of Peyton Wells every fantasy. However Payton is not ready to agree to a full on relationship for fear of becoming her mother. Scott is head over boots in love with the girl and refusing to give into her temptation for a no frills relationship hoping she will realize they are meant for forever. He needs those frills to much! Loved all the twists and turns these two take to finding a future. Awesomely entertaining!
Erin Nicholas has a way of writing small town romance series that makes you feel like you're coming home, and After All will have you feeling the same way.
I fell completely in love with Scott and Peyton's characters. The banter, the sexiness, the sweetness, and the protectiveness they have for each other just gives you all the feels. Peyton is in my top 2 Erin Nicholas heroines. She's sassy, she's bold, and she has a fun streak. Take very good quality you can think of, put it in to a heroine, and you've got Peyton. Scott is kinda her opposite personality wise. He's beyond sexy, and he has this side of him that just makes you swoon.
A fantastic addition to the Sapphire Falls series, that will have you wanting more from new characters, and excited to catch up with old ones!!
I am running out of words to explain how much I love this author's books! Each and every time it is amazing, sexy, fun, and emotional! Peyton and Scott have been attracted to each other and dancing around each other for the last couple years. He is all in, she doesn't believe in relationships. When he is accidentally shot she decides she is going to take care of him. And now it is who is going to give in first. If you haven't made the journey into Sapphire Falls you need to plan a road trip very soon! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I have never read an Erin Nicholas book that has disappointed me. And After All, her most recent Sapphire Falls story, is no exception. This novel is the perfect combination of commitment, perseverance, love, hotness, character development, and so much more. The small town feel brings a reader into the story, making the reader root and cheer, and ultimately *sigh* because the perfect ending brings it all together. And Scott and Peyton get their fought-for happily-ever-after! Don't hesitate to pick this book up, even if you haven't read any of the Sapphire Falls books yet. And be prepared to never look at maple syrup the same way again.
Love, love, love it! The newest addition to the Sapphire Falls series is a spin off and it is as great as the original! This is Scott and Peyton's story. We (fans of the series) have been waiting for this and this book does not disappoint! Stand alone or as part of the series, After All is everything I want in a romance, smart, sweet, sexy and a little silly thrown in.
He wants a commitment, she just wants sex - a little role reversal in this one! I have to admit I have a thing for cops so the author had me at the start. The battle of wills between Scott and Peyton was fun to read about. I am always surprised after reading an Erin Nicholas book that my Kindle hasn't melted into a blob of black plastic - she can sure write steamy sex scenes! However, as always, what I really like the most about her books is there is a lot of romance along with the heat, friends, wonderful small-town atmosphere and lots of people who care about each other - and we can all use a little of that, can't we? Don't forget to read the prequel to this one - After Party - for the first scorching encounter between Scott and Peyton...and, yes, it involved handcuffs.
OK, so I loved Scott BUT Peyton ....not so much! It took her WAY too long for my liking to realize she wanted a relationship. Ya, I was really not a fan of hers at all:(
Every once in a while I’m super into a true small town romance, I mean one where everyone knows everyone and are in each other’s business. This book totally fits the bill, and even more these two are kind of opposites which is something I totally enjoy. Scott is the hot hometown cop and Peyton is the hot troublemaker in town. Peyton is really a good quality friend to have, it seems like she is there for the people she loves, always the one to show up when she’s needed. She’s also the one who goes all in that she’s willing to thrown down and get herself into trouble to defend a friends honor. She really is likable even though her antics are sometimes crazy and she clearly has some romantic hang ups. She has an aversion to relationship simply because she is afraid of being a relationship like her parents. Scott on the other hand is the responsible cop who wants a relationship with Peyton more than anything else. So when he accidentally gets shot and Peyton drops everything to check on him he of course tries to the opportunity to convince her to give there awesome chemistry a chance at becoming something real. I liked that while he wants a relationship, he’s also not trying to force Peyton into being someone she isn’t. I like that he’s supportive, and he takes the time to tell Peyton all the good things about her. He’s really a good match for her. And the two of them have great chemistry together. I felt like this book was definitely the truest definition of a small town romance, and it was definitely an enjoyable read for me.
*Note, I feel like this story is probably best appreciated if you’ve read the two prequels, After Party and After This beforehand as they give more insight into Scott and Peyton’s relationship.
I loved this book!! Peyton was awesome and Scott was pretty perfect and I love that they basically reversed roles as far as their relationship expectations. He wanted to do right by her by showing her that she meant more to him than just a roll in the hay. She wanted him strictly for her physical needs because she can’t find it in herself to need anyone for more than that.
I read Erin Nicholas all of the time so I’m not sure why I was so surprised by the level of steam in this book. I was so flustered that I kept checking to make sure nobody was watching me read. But it was also a very sweet story full of emotion and just the right amount of angst. I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of these books.
If anyone would have asked me what Sapphire Falls couple I was most looking forward to reading, Scott and Peyton would be at the top of the list every single time. I was beyond excited to FINALLY get their book. Erin Nicholas did not disappoint. There was a brief St Patrick's day story as well as a story in Mari Carr's Wild Irish kindle world that took place prior to this book. It was helpful having already read those stories to see them as part of this story. Peyton has always been the good time girl who is up for every adventure. Scott is the by the book cop who follows along behind her making sure he is always there for her. She wants a no strings all sex relationship with Scott while Scott is trying to show Peyton how they can have all the sex as well as a shot at forever. Things are thrown into a tailspin once Scott gets shot and Peyton elects herself to play nurse. I enjoyed this story immensely, especially reading about why Scott and Peyton act the way they do towards each other. I can't recommend this book enough. It lived up to every expectation I had.
I was so excited when I found out there would be more stories from Sapphire Falls and Ms. Nicholas did not disappoint with this one! Whether you're a long time friend or this is your first visit to Sapphire Falls, you will fall in love with the sweet little town and this new cast of characters. We get glimpses of our old favorite characters but these new ones are a lot of fun too. Scott and Peyton have been dancing around each other for a very long time. Scott wants something long term and committed but Peyton just wants to have a little fun. Watching these two figure things out is a blast. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
I loved loved book. I love this series and the characters. Peyton loves trouble and loves the reaction from it. She does it a lot to get attention from her dad then it was to get Scott's attention. She wants a sexual relationship with Scott but he wants more. Scott is one of the police in town. He has some serious feelings for Peyton and can see a life with her. Scott gets shot and Peyton comes to his aid. She agrees to take care of him but wants to play house while it is happening and give them a chance. This was such a good story. I love Peyton and now Scott is my 2nd favorite Sapphire Falls man.
Not only was it great to return to Sapphire Falls, but we get to finally find out the story between one of the hottest and sexiest young couples out there. While Scott seems to think he has to save Peyton, she seems to feel like she needs to let him. This is a hot, but adorable couple. So glad to get to read their story and so looking forward to the other characters to follow with their stories. Erin Nicholas, you just can't write enough Sapphire Falls to make me happy!!
Erin does it again! I love coming back to Sapphire Falls and this time was no different. I love Scott & Peyton's back and forth and the fact that everyone else knows that they love each other and should be together, it's just taking them a little longer to realize it! I can't wait for the next one!
My Sapphire Falls' visits just keep getting better and better...
After All is Scott and Peyton's story. We've met Officer Scott Hansen and Peyton Wells in prior Sapphire Falls stories. Scott's been kind of a responsible, care-taker type, and Peyton has played the wild child, partly because she needs some reassurance that she is worth the time, effort, love.
Scott's intent on proving to Peyton that what he feels for her is the real thing; she's equally determined to keep their relationship all about the physical. If you don't engage your emotions, you can't get hurt, right?
When Scott gets shot, he needs some help as he recuperates. Having Peyton volunteer for the job is more than he could have hoped for, and he intends to make the most of the opportunity. Peyton can hardly believe she signed up to move in temporarily with Scott, but is just as intent on keeping their interactions on a flirty level she can control. Scott intends to show her just how good it can be otherwise.
And... did you think there could be any other outcome? Ms. Nicholas pulls this off brilliantly--Scott and Peyton are wonderfully fleshed out. Their dialogue is real and funny and touching. They disagree and work through their differences in a way that we can appreciate. And while their chemistry is combustible, I love that the story isn't just about that. It's just the icing on an already incredible cake.
After All is a terrific book in this Sapphire Falls series, and I cannot wait for the next visit! It can't come soon enough!
Another enjoyable entry into the Sapphire Falls series. The characters are likable and have great chemistry. My only complaint is that it seems like a completely different Peyton than we met in the other books. Don't get me wrong, I like this version. It just does not seem like the same girl we've heard about and met. Moreover, there's a change in what Hope's dad knew about her existence, possibly to make him more sympathetic? It felt like poor continuity to me. At any rate, Scott is a hottie, this version of Peyton is fun and spunky, and their not-quite relationship dance is fun to read about. Definitely a must read if you're a fan of the town of 1100 people (which is entirely made up of attractive 20-35 year olds).
Why can't my small town have people like the ones in Sapphire Falls!?!?!
I absolutely adored this latest visit to my favorite small town by Erin Nicholas!! After All is a book that I have been anxiously awaiting and I will say it definitely lived up to the anticipation! I loved Scott and Peyton so much!
Peyton has always gotten into trouble to get her father’s attention. Her mother has emotional problems, and her father has always put her mother first. So much so that Peyton was more or less forgotten about most of her life. Peyton acted up so she got Scott’s, the local cop, attention as he always seemed to save her. Scott has been in love with Peyton for quite awhile, but Peyton has never wanted to have a relationship because of her parent’s relationship. She is afraid she will be like her mother. Scott gets shot in the leg, and Peyton agrees to stay with him for two weeks to take care of him. Scott is hoping to show her they can have a relationship, and Peyton is hoping to get Scott to have lots of sex with her. You will need to read the book to see what happens.
I just love the Sapphire Falls series. For me, I get to keep up with the other characters I have met in previous books. Peyton is known as the party girl. She has a talent of always knowing how to decorate for a party and the best theme. She loves to help out and bake. I have always felt bad about the way her parents have treated her. I was glad when her half sister Hope came to town and got to know her. At least she had one family member she could lean on. Scott loves to help people. He likes to feel needed. Of course that is not the only reason that he loves Peyton. He and his two best friends love to give each other a hard time. They are so much fun to listen to. I loved this book and strongly encourage you to read it. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.
I loved this story. Whether you have read all the books of Ms Nicholas’s series titled Sapphire Falls, or this is your first one, or like me, you have only read a few, it makes no difference because each story in this town is filled with interesting characters full of imperfections just like you and me, and are stand alone. Everyday people, some with more baggage than others ,but all with a heart and deep feelings. This one centers around Scott, one of the town’s cops who also works in a task force outside his jurisdiction, and Peyton, the seemingly happy go lucky girl, whose parents have not paid attention to her because of their own dysfunctional relationship. She is “wild” , the the one always doing favors for others, while Scott is the straight laced one. But they are attracted to each other. Scott is her I.C.E (in case of emergency) contact and no matter what, he is always there to rescue her. When he gets shot, she runs to take care of him. They make a pact which will test them but also will open their eyes to a world of possibilities. The story also reminds us that our childhood experiences do in fact affect us as adults. That life does offer hope and love and when you find someone who “gets you” , you are blessed to be that someone special for them as well. The secondary characters are just as engaging and I can’t wait to find out what Ms Nicholas has in store for Dr Kyle. I was gifted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
He knew he had no prayer of resisting a Peyton seduction for two weeks. But he thought maybe she didn’t have a chance of resisting the things he wanted either. Not with a constant, steady application of things like simple fun and sweetness. Normalcy. Comfort.
That is what this book was to me. Simple, fun, sweet and normal. It was nice to get way from the YA Fantasy and paranormal romance that I normally lean towards and read something about normal people that were not trying to take over a kingdom or perfect their new found super powers. This book was just about a girl and a guy trying to find love in one another in the small town of sapphire falls. They banter and fight and its adorable. Payton has a hard past and she is reluctant to end up like her mother and father who cling to each other out of necessity and not love. Scott is determined to show her that she doesn't need him for anything but he wants her as his everything. I will say that like other readers have said I felt like I was missing backstory or that this was a sequel to another stand-alone Sapphire Falls book but alas it was the first in the series. Also, after a while it did get kind of tedious. the back and forth, " should I keep him (Scott)" or "should i let him go" and the multiple revelations on both ends that they loved each other. ( how many times can you figure out that you love someone??) but after you get passed that it was just a cute read.
HOLY MOLY!!! Ok this is my new favorite book in the Sapphire Falls Series. Erin you write these books and it gives me confidence in my life. I have changed so much over the last couple of years since I have started reading your books. They make me feel better about myself and I like that feeling. This book is about Scott Hansen, who is a cop in Sapphire Falls and a pretty HOT one at that. Scott is crazy about the wild Peyton Wells. He would do anything in his power for her to become his. She drives him nuts with her crazy ways and when he gets injured and she volunteers to help him out for two weeks he doesn’t know if he will be able to resist her sexual needs. Peyton Wells is always the party girl. When her friends need her she is there to help out. Scott Hansen told her to call him if she ever needs anything and she does just that. Scott is always her go to person and he is always there to help her no matter what. Peyton likes to do things to get attention and that is what she gets from Scott but she doesn’t want a relationship with him. Peyton also makes the best cookies and cakes in town and has the best ideas for parties. Simply amazing as always but this will always be my favorite. I loved the banter between Scott and Peyton and how adorable they are. Love your books Erin. You make my heart smile.
The Princess of Sapphire Falls does it again! Every time a new Sapphire Falls book comes out, I swear it's the BEST and my new favorite! And it IS! Until the next one comes out!! She has developed a fictional town with its varied band of characters that resonates in all of her readers.
Scott & Peyton are the best couple! Peyton is trying to keep everything superficial & light because she's afraid they'll end up co-dependent like her parents. Scott is trying to hold back & not jump into a superficial relationship because he's in love with her & wants more. Erin Nicholas has given us the best happy go lucky party girl with unplumbed depths & paired her with the steady hunky town cop. Peyton is sassy, sarcastic, sexy & steady. She thinks she's too needy until she finally begins to see herself the way everyone else does. Scott tries not to take over everything but still show Peyton that she needs him. The familiar cast of supporting characters pop in & out giving the writer opportunities to update us on where their lives are going. Will Hope & TJ ever have that baby?? Why do we have to wait so long for the next one?
Oh my goodness, just when I did not think I could love an Erin Nicholas hero more! Scott, Scott, Scott! Oh he is everything you could ever want in a man, all rolled up into one deliciously sexy package. He is the quintessential good guy wanting to save the world with a whole yummy dark side alpha caveman underneath. I loved every scene and every word that came out of his mouth. He had to have been the most patient and understanding person, and actually took the time to look a little deeper at Peyton. Peyton, my funny immensely sexy fictional character that I would love to be friends with. She was hysterical in all her pursuits of Scott. She had him all to herself and totally enjoyed engaging with him. I loved the two of them together. They were pure happiness and magic. I think they have to be one of my all time favorite couples. They simply worked together, physically and emotionally.
And as always, Ms. Nicholas has set up for the next books for this series and I will again be impatiently waiting for them!
