“Do you want to take me?” That's what she said to me after she stepped out of the pool, skin dripping wet, her body on display to tempt me. A simple babysitting job—that's all it was meant to be. Show her some element of the life she'd been kept from. But she couldn’t keep her pretty mouth shut when I showed her what she asked me for, and I couldn't keep my damned eyes off her. Sofia Vico was the one woman no one touched. Forbidden. I should have stayed away. Should have done as Quinn asked and kept her safe. But I crossed the line and broke the rules. For her.
“The things I could show you.“ This started out as an act of defiance against my father—a way to finally fill in the blanks I’d lived with my whole life. But the doors to the cage I'd been kept in had suddenly been flung wide open, and I wasn’t ready for the truth waiting for me. Or for Carter Wade. He was my saviour in the dark, muddied underworld I knew nothing of. A man with skills that both frightened and aroused me. And if I thought scars and guns were the worst I’d have to face, I was wrong. Murder, kidnapping, and a family torn in two was our consequence. Yet he still risked everything, including his life. For me.
Hailing from the depths of the quiet British countryside, Charlotte likes nothing better than sinking into her characters dark and devious world's. Sometimes they're kinky, sometimes they're twisted, and sometimes they're a serious hold on tight situation, but her stories are always filled with romance and love in some form.
This is book four in this series and set twenty years after the events of the others. It can be read as a standalone though reading in order will probably enhance your overall experience here. So here we have Carter Wade who was taken in as a boy and is now the right-hand man of Quinn he helps run his casino's and also deals with the less legitimate side of the business. And also Sofia Vico sheltered daughter of Benjamin Vico and Hope from the previous book. Fia is nineteen and sick of living in her gilded cage, she has been kept in the dark over who her father actually is for years so on a whim she runs off to her uncle Quinns to ask for his help. Carter is the one that gets stuck with unwelcome babysitting duties as Fia tags along to Miami where the family is opening a new casino. So Carter is a bit of an A-hole and quite cold and collected at first though he is instantly drawn to the forbidden Sofia. That coldness soon morphs into heat the more he interacts with his new obsession. Fia is quite petulant and mouthy but she is also smart and strong-willed. She also returns Carters fascination. The forbidden attraction that blazes bright between them both is going to bring an epic crap-storm everyone's way and Fia is going to get her eyes opened wide, blinkers off. The consequences of there feelings resulting in such bloody mayhem, Be careful what you wish for Sofia. I was also quite dismayed at a certain person's behaviour here, he was his own worse enemy. So this had a red hot chemistry with such raw carnality it was also action-packed throughout. we get to revisit all our favourite characters from previous books. This was a great addition to this series and these authors always work so well together. This gets a big thumbs up from my camp. I voluntary reviewed a copy of Forbidden Eyes (Cane, #4).
Holy crap... Alright going into this book, it being my first by the author I was sure what to expect, and what was an intense, gripping and unpredictable story that had many many twists and turns throughout the book.
Forbidden Eyes is book four in the Cane series and can be read as a standalone, but I think reading from the start of the series would have added even more amazingness to the story and I think I would have gotten a little more back story on the main characters. But in saying that, I absolutely loved this book without books 1-3 of the series.
This book is 20 years later and tells the story of Sofia Vico and Carter Wade, and what an awesome story it was.
Sofia has been held under lock and key all her life, and she is ready to break free of these shackles that she calls her father. He is domineering, controlling, overbearing and protective of her. He was so protective and controlling that she couldn't even attend her best friend's birthday and she was 19 years old! That was the point where she knew she finally had enough of living under her father's roof and answering to him and doing everything he says. So she uproots her life and runs away from New York to Chicago, where her uncle lives and that is where she meets Carter Wade and life as she knows it, completely spins and changes and her life is never the same again. I was left speechless!
Sofia was a treasure to read. Although she was always at the mercy of her father and obeying everything he asked of her. She was still this sassy, feisty, witty, headstrong character. She was a little spitfire and throughout the book, you could see the drastic changes in her. She was innocent, pure really but still had a personality that would make you think otherwise.
Carter isn't a Cane really, not by blood but he is in every other way. He was quite the opposite of Sofia. he was cold, collected, stubborn, domineering, dangerous and loyal to a fault. He wasn't one to show emotion. He was ice cold, and avoid feeling much of anything, to be honest, but that all went to shit when Sofia came waltzing into his life. He never saw that girl coming. I loved Carter, I loved everything about him from the start but as the plot thickened, I fell even more in love with him, which I didn't know was possible and even though he was closed off and cold, there was so much more to this character that everyone in his life saw on the outside, on the inside he had his hangups and demons that he battled daily.
I loved these two together. They have a connection and desires that both could not explain or deny, and they found themselves gravitating toward each other and once they came together. There was no way in hell anything or anyone would be able to break that apart. But sure enough, things such as threats of death and more would play on that. They were hot, steamy and deliciously dark and dangerous. I couldn't get enough of these two.
I believe if I had read books 1-3 I would get more of an idea on this family and the background, and I will be going back to read them. The secondary characters were just as awesome as the two mains.
These two authors were new to me, and this way the first book by them, but it won't be my last... I can promise you that.
This beauty was fast-paced, full of action, suspense, mystery, angst, emotion, heat with plenty of plot twist that had me on the edge of my seat, and my heart pounding out my chest. The authors and their way with words truly are incredible and as they weaved their words together, they created an all-consuming, insanely intense and addictive love story that I will go back and re-read time and time again, but first I need to go and start from book one the series!
Reading is a huge part of my life and I spend hours getting lost in stories that bring me so much pleasure. The Cane series is one of my absolute favourites and I had high expectations when I opened my kindle on to the first page of Forbidden Eyes, and let me tell you I was not left disappointed!
This book can be read as a standalone but to be honest if you haven't read the first three books in the series, you are truly missing out. I adore the Cane family. I will never tire of spending time with Quinn, Nate, Emily and Gabby. All four are formidable characters in their own right and I absolutely loved being reminded just how much and why I love them.
Forbidden Eyes is Carter and Sofia's story. Sofia Vico is the one girl in the world that no one should dare to even look at.... her family name dictates this. I found Fia to be amazing. I really enjoyed getting to know her and then watch her as the story developed. She intrigued me. She has skills that added so much to the story and I could feel what she was going through throughout the book. Carter Wade - what can I say about him? He may not have the Cane name but he is family all the same and boy did he steal a piece of my heart just like the other Cane men have. I absolutely loved the connection that Sofia and Carter have. Their story is incredible and it will have you on edge of your seat. I was well aware that any relationship that they may wish to have would be forbidden, but I wanted to see them together all the same, no matter what was at stake...... and there is a lot!
This is a real page turner of a book and once you start you will not want to put it down! The angst, the heat, the joy, the love and the pain are all there for you to discover. I was gripped from the very beginning and have had very little sleep because I just needed to know what was going to happen next. This is one series that I don't want to end and I don't say that often. I'm so excited for you to read Forbidden Eyes and I recommend it to you without a second thought because I know you will enjoy it just as much as I have.
What a fabulous addition to the Cane dynasty, I loved it, I couldn't stop turning the pages. The next generation are getting their turn in the dark spotlight, but Cane and Vico are never far away....
Sofia Vico has been kept locked away from the world in a figurative cage by her very domineering, over protective father, Benjamin Vico. At 19, she's studied hard but when she's not even allowed to attend her best friend's birthday party, she's finally had enough. She's desperate to live a life and discover who her really family is, so she runs from New York to Chicago, to her uncle, Quinn Cane. Life is never going to be the same again, especially after she lays eyes on Carter Wade.
I loved Sofia, a character who grew and developed so much throughout the book. Feisty, sassy and determined but laced through with innocence and vulnerability. What a fiery spirit she had though which was absolutely needed to deal with a Cane man.
Carter may not be Cane by blood, but he was Cane in every way that mattered.... stubborn, loyal, dark, dangerous, cool and collected, hot AF but with emotions well under wraps, until Fia blew that straight out of the water! I grew to love him more and more as the story progressed, although despite his angst ridden inner turmoil, there were times I wanted to shake him!
“But I’m not ready to see her yet,” I manage to stutter. “Men like us never are, Carter.”
I loved the interactions with all the characters from the previous books, especially Quinn Cane. His relationship with Carter was definitely an eye-opener! This book was action packed, steamy hot, perfectly paced, brutal at times but with real emotion and feeling. Carter and Fia enthralled me from the start, so I really hope there will be more from this amazing world of Cane in the future. Logan needs to have his story told, right?? And you cant leave it like that with Benjamin, can you? **will get on knees and beg if needed** please Ms Hart Ms de Lune.....keep writing!! 😉
Gripping, intense, addictive, I just could not put this book down!
Forbidden Eyes is Sofia Vico's story, the sheltered daughter of Benjamin Vico and Hope from the previous book in the series. I read the first book in this series and found it a little too dark for me and I haven't read the previous book before this and after reading about Benjamin Vico in this book, damn, I am sore torn, I really don't like Benjamin Vico at all, he's dark, cruel, he's not just an overbearing protective father, he is so much more, a criminal, and evil to the core. Sofia has no idea who her father is, she has no idea of the kind of business her father is involved in, she hasn't seen the side of him that make men fear him until she does, until her eyes are opened, and that's a pivotal point in Sofia's life. Sofia has been a sheltered young woman with no close friends, she studies and that's basically her life. Sofia is like a caged bird, a nineteen year old young woman with clipped wings.
Curiosity kills the cat as they say and after being ordered to stay home by her father when she had been looking forward to a party, she rebels, runs away and goes to stay with her uncle Quinn who is her mothers brother. Sofia want's answers, she wants to know why men fear her father, she wants to know who she is. Sofia didn't expect to find out what she does and in the process meets Carter Wade.
Carter Wade was taken in by Quinn Cane when he was a young boy, he now works for Quinn and is like his right hand man, he runs the casino businesses and more. He's feared among men, he's alluring, sexy and dangerous.
"There aren't any rainbows here Fia. I'm not that kind of man. You want sweetheart ideals, you'll have to go look elsewhere"
Sofia never expected to fall for a man so similar to what she was running away from but she does. Carter is hot, sexy, but he is nothing like the other men in this series, he's caring and so swoon-worthy, with a dark edge to him that begins to soften when he meets Sofia.
All hell breaks lose when Benjamin Vico discovers his daughters innocence has been ruined by Carter Wade. There is an all out war between the families who were once allies. Wow, it was like a dark Romeo and Juliet.
A brilliantly balanced plot and a great collaboration with these two authors. I was hooked from the first pages and the whirlwind of a plot gripped me to the very end.
A Mafia romance must read.sizzling hot, action packed and intense.
I finished with unanswered questions, I can't wait to see what these two authors bring next, I want more sneak peaks of Sofia and Carter and I am certainly looking forward to more from Charlotte E. Hart & Rachel De Lune. *Can be read as a standalone, leads to a hea.
I’d like to thank Bare Naked Words for sending me an e-arc of this book it is very much appreciated. So this is a standalone but it recommended you read the other three stories, Innocent Eyes, Devious Eyes and Vengeful Eyes I have read all three and loved them. So I was very excited when I got the invite for the 4th book. I had no idea what to expect but it was blown away.
I loved Sofia, she was feisty and sick of being a caged bird so she decided to leave her parents and go visit her Uncle Quinn who would tell her what she wants to know. She got more than she bargained for. She did not know that her actions would have a ripple effect once she discovered about her name and what her father did.
Carter I loved him straight away. He was a total asshole when it came to the women he was with, he told them how it was and he didn’t care. I loved his reaction whenever it came to that he had to look after Logan or having to watch Sofia he was always so sour about it and it was so amusing. It was very interesting seeing Carter cope with his diabetes, it’s not something that is often in books so I really liked seeing it and that it has serious consequences when he didn’t take care of himself properly. I just liked it in the story it added a different aspect into it.
Sofia finally learnt what her name really means and damn was she pissed but I loved that she had the respect to stand up to her father about it all. Especially him being involved in the drug trade as her research is about creating something less harmful and it still being addictive. I loved that she was willing to stand up for something she believed in. In the end that is the bottom line for her she doesn’t want anything to do with drugs or distributing him and she uses it to her advantage as a bargaining chip when it comes to Carter at the end of the story.
Carter tries so hard to deny his attraction to Sofia but in the end the attraction wins out and they end up kissing. And hot damn those two together are fire. The way they both gravitated to each other once they just decided to be together. I loved how Sofia travelled back to him to protect him it was so cute. And like all the men in this series sometimes they need a knock against the head to realise their feelings.
There is one point in this novel where they separate and it was painful, I cried reading it. Which actually hasn’t happened in a while, they honestly broke my heart that they were pushing each other away for what they thought was better for their family.
I really enjoyed this story and the plot, it was very different to the other books and I loved Carter and Sofia also the engagement was so cute.
Charlotte Hart and Rachel De Lune have nailed it. They left me speechless and I had to calm my palpitating heart numerous times. They’ve brought in a new generation of characters to mesh with the old. They’ve brought spark to the pages along with their signature mafia tension and drama. The forbidden-taboo romance of Carter and Sophia was my absolute favourite of the series. I loved everything about it. It is intense, steamy, and unpredictable. Prepare yourself for some heart-stopping, nail-biting scenes.
I’ve been enjoying the Cane novels since the beginning. Each book is a perfect blend of dark, intense, steamy drama. Each book features the romantic journey of a different couple in the crime/mafia world that is owned by the Canes and the Vico’s. I especially love how each book has a focus on the taming of the mafia bosses. It is so much fun to watch them struggle with their emotionless mind and body when the right woman enters their life. Each book has superseded the last and now Forbidden Eyes has done it again.
I couldn’t put this one down. Carter and Sophia have a connection and chemistry that neither of them could deny or resist. Try as they might, nothing, not even the threat of certain death, could keep them apart. Each of these characters are strong and formidable. They stand on their own merits and I hope to see more of them in future books. The scenes are shocking; some made me cringe. The authors made this book come to life as I followed the story in my mind, imagining the surroundings, immersing myself in this mafia world with these wonderful characters and their intertwined lives.
I certainly hope these authors continue this co-writing experience as they now seem to have perfected it. Each chapter flows into another seamlessly; their writing styles are different, yet they have a system that works. I love this author pairing and I look forward to more from each of them.
I have read this whole series, and Forbidden Eyes is a beautiful addition to this group of books.
In Forbidden Eyes, we get Sofia Vico, who is 19 years old and wants to know what the family business is. But her father and mother have done everything they can to keep her away from it. So Sofia runs away to her Uncle Quinn to get some insight into what is going on. Quinn didn't want Sofia to find out the ins and outs either; he just wanted her to get a little glance of the right side and then send her home. But when Sofia steps into the deep end, the sh*t gets real fast.
Quinn puts Carter Wade in charge of taking care of Sofia. Carter knows he has to keep his hands, eyes, and every other body part away from Sofia. But that is easier said than done. When Sofia doesn't want to listen and gets herself into trouble, Carter has to take extra steps to protect her. Of course, that is when feelings get involved.
This book is an older man/younger woman story that brings danger, sex, and love to the forefront for these characters. I was engrossed in this story! A must-read...
“There’s nothing else, no law I abide by, no restriction that stands in my way to stop me doing my job. I cut like an angel when necessary, making sure no one knows what I’ve done, or devour like a devil to ensure everyone knows exactly what I’ve done.”
The Canes and the Vicos return for this whirlwind novel, Fonidden Eyes. After these two power families formed a truce, we fast forward to the future where their offspring are starting to take over the family businesses.
“I don't step out of anything. I lead, head down against whatever dares question my decisions or gets in my way.”
Sophia Vico has always lived in seclusion from the real world. Always curious, Sophia wants answers about her father’s profession. Meeting Carter pushes her towards these answers, to feelings so forbidden, she decides to fall over the edge. Carter lives an intense lifestyle, all that is Cane. But when Sophia catches his eye, Carter is willing to throw away the security and trust he has formed with the Cane family. Can broken truces and promises be mended? Or has a new war started?
“My fingers itch to run through his hair, to provide some form of comfort to him after all he’s been through. To show him that I don’t see him as weak, but rather incredibly strong and resilient for having both the courage and the strength to do what he did. For me. For us.”
Wow!!! Charlotte and Rachel created an epic story with Forbidden Eyes. Every page is filled with so much passion and excitement, this book consumed me. It’s all I thought about. Once I finished, I need a few days to process all that happened, and the futures of the all the characters. Forbidden Eyes is the perfect addition to the series, and introduces us to new characters and reunites is with some old ones. Please make sure you read the previous books in the Cane series, to get the full experience from Charlotte and Rachel.
Casinos, drugs, kidnappings and shoot outs fill the pages of the fourth book in the Cane Novel series. Forbidden Eyes by Hart De Lune is the epitome of a mafia storyline that many of us just can’t get enough of. I have loved all the books in the Cane series with the cranky, brisk gorgeous men and the women that seem to be able to handle them and whip them into shape. With some down-right sexy scenes that will make you wish you could meet the next Godfather and hope that he is a Cane, Forbidden Eyes is hot enough to set the pages on fire! Once again, De Lune has written an epic action-packed story that will have your heart racing. 5-Stars for Forbidden Eyes.
Carter Wade was raised by Quinn and Emily Cane. Taken in as a child and raised to help Quinn run his business, Carter does all the things that NEED to be taken care of, the legitimate and the illegal. Carter is ready for anything except Sofia Vico. Quinn’s niece Sofia is determined to be treated like an adult and to finally find out exactly what business her father is in. When Carter must take Sofia with him to Miami to open a new casino and to handle a “deal” for Ben Vico, he realizes Sofia has every right to know all the answers that she has questions to. Carter can’t deny the attraction he has for Sofia, but she is Forbidden. When things on the trip go terribly wrong, forbidden or not, Carter can’t turn away from Sofia any longer. His family and his life are at stake if he can’t get a handle on the situation, but Sofia is making it awful hard to turn away. Their actions have consequences and those consequences could cost them their lives.
Charlotte E. Hart & Rachel De Lune are a dynamic duo, who mesh perfectly together writing this series. This is the story of 19 year old, Sofia Vico, whose family is so powerful, that she's basically in a gilded cage, and is over having little freedom, not to mention, no one will talk to her about who her father really is. This leads her to asking her Uncle Quinn for help. Carter Wade was taken in as a younger boy, and is now the right hand man to Quinn, so he gets tasked with keeping an eye on Fia when the family goes to Miami to open a new casino, and it doesn't please him so much that's for sure. He's not exactly the warm & fuzzy type anyway, and he has a strong attraction for Fia, but he knows it's forbidden, and he ends up coming off quite broody & rude in my opinion. Fia has that same attraction for Carter, but she's a bit extra since she's got a mouth on her, and strong willed as all hell. Of course, chemistry like their's will not be denied, so it's not too long before it rages out of control, which brings on a whole new set of problems. At this point, the twists are coming fast & furiously, so I start dropping f-bombs loudly, as there were more than a couple which took me by surprise. Those twists bring on the drama, and all of a sudden, I'm finding myself having a hard time breathing with all the action that starts flying everywhere. And I bet you're wondering how it all pans out, well, that's easy as all you have to do is just one clicking this heart pounding, super sexy, and action packed story that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND to find out!
Forbidden Eyes is the 4th book in the Cane series. Each of the books in this series can be read as a standalone. And, this book can most certainly be read as a standalone. Now here is the but…. Your reading would be greatly enhanced by reading the other books first. Forbidden Eyes is now set 20 years later from the first 3 books.
I would like to shout out how good this book was!!!! I LOVED it! I just wanted to curl up on the couch and read and ignore my family today! This book was just that good! This is a must read whether you want to read the books previous to this one!
This is Sofia’s story she is the daughter of Benjamin Vico. Sofia feels her dad is “stifling” her. He most certainly isn’t a nice man. Sofia runs to her Uncle Quinn and hopes he will protect her.
Carter Wade has been raised by Quinn. Quinn tells Carter to take her away while Carter does business. That’s when she finds out what her father actually does for a living.
What unfolds is a lot of action both with gun & knife fighting as well as off the charts chemistry between Carter and Sofia. Lets just say that Sofia’s father is not a happy man.
I stayed up late reading this book and I didn’t want it to end. I sure hope there will be another book in this series.
If you haven’t discovered these authors that have written now the 4th book in this series together you need to. 10 + Stars and I would even give more if I could.
She wants her freedom. After her teenage years being kept under lock and key, Sofia Vico has had enough. It doesn't matter what or how much her mother says her dad is only keeping her protected , she has had enough and that means escape. For her escape is running to Uncle Quinn, because she knows he will tell if she asks the questions, maybe.
For Carter Wade, this is all business. Whether it's the women or the bodies or the men he has to teach a lesson it's all business. He has after all learnt from the best and has o intention of failing them.
When Quinn puts Carter in charge of Sofia on a trip, everything quickly goes out the window. Protection, wrong words spoken at the wrong time meant that blood, lies and truths are all spilled and this means another war for the cane family.
With this new generation, will love finally move them into new pastures or will the tentative bonds that have held for over 20 years finally break?
Another great story by these two authors. I loved that we saw the new generation of Canes, as well as the older and wiser Canes. I also liked the focus on Carter and Sofia. Interesting characters, even if sometimes they make you angry with their decisions or lack therof.
The incredible duo of Hart and De Lune have done it again. When these two brains come together, they seem to weave magic into their words, creating novel after novel that grips you right from the start.
This book is no different. Here we have the beginning of the next generation of the Cane dynasty, served up with ample helpings of everything we’ve come to expect from the series—danger, intrigue, characters you can’t help but love, characters you want to punch in the face, and bang in the middle of it all, a love story that blossoms against all the odds. Carter and Sofia shouldn’t be together. Everything is stacked against their budding romance right from the start, but Sofia is determined to break free of the gilded cage her father has kept her locked away inside her entire life and begin to truly live her own life on her own terms. This was a beautiful coming of age story, wrapped up inside a dark and twisted world.
Every book in the series seems to get better and better, and I can’t wait to see what magic these two talented authors pull out of the hat next!
Forbidden Eyes by Charlotte E Hart and Rachel De Lune is book Four in the Cane Series. This is the story of Sofia Vico and Carter Wade. I have read the previous books and I do feel that helped me to enjoy this one which is several years into the future from the other books. But with that said, I do feel you could make this a standalone book. Carter is the boy that Quinn Cane and Emily Brooks raised in the first book 'Innocent Eyes'. Sofia is the child of Benjamin Vico and Hope Winters that was in 'Vengeful Eyes'. Sofia has lived a very protected life so much so that when she is around 19 years old she wanted to go to out but they wouldn't let her. So she sneaked out to go to her Uncle Quinn to escape and possible teach her father a lesson. But Carter is the one that gets assigned to her and the lesson being learned is by her. Carter feels that he has a cold destructive heart that can't be broken into. But the more he is around Sofia the more there starts to be cracks. But of course nothing goes easy. Enjoyed this book and series.
WOW I loved this last book in the Cane series, the Cane brothers are older now but the younger ones are making there mark and Carter Wade is just as hot the the other two Cane brothers Quinn and Nate.
Sofia Vico is a nineteen year old that has been sheltered all her life but want's to see the world and to find out what goes on in the family business, but her dad is having none of it and has protected and shielded her all her life from finding out what goes on in the Cane/Vico world. She sets out to defy her father and goes to her uncle Quinn to find more about the family business with dire consequences.
Carter is made to be her babysitter and takes her away to Miami to see how the Cane cassino empire works but nothing ever goes to plan and before long they are in a fight for Sofia life. This story had me on the edge of my seat with all the twists, danger, raw passion that you get through out this amazing book. This was a page turner of a epic story that never let me up for breath until the very end with how this all unfolded.Five Huge Cane Stars.
Imagine being kept captive in your own home. No social life because of your deranged mafia father. You run away only to be put in the care of an alpha male. Sexy, handsome, dangerous, deadly, possessive, and willing to put his life on the line for you. That is what you will experience reading this book and so much more. GOOD MAFIA BOOKS should contain gun fights, drugs, sex, and a believable storyline. This book had it all. From beginning to end I was engrossed and eager to know what would happen next. If you are a true mafia I recommend this book for you. If you like a romance novel where the alpha male makes you wish you had one I recommend this book for you. Happy Reading!!!!!!!
Wow what a amazing book that will take you on a nail bitting and on the edge of your seat. This is a story that can be read stand-alone and it is 20 yrs later. The Cane family will always be amazing read of the series that have you on the edge of the darkness of this series. Charlotte Hart and Rachel De Lune have left me speechless about how to explain this book.
I'm at a loss for words for this review, it's just that good. My emotions are all over the place, I just can't put it into words. So, just read this amazing book. Oh and I'm praying we get to see more of Sophia and Carter in the future.
This is the first book that I have read from these two writers. I Iearned quickly that I needed to read the first three before reading this one. You can read it as a stand alone but it helps to read the first three. At least I believe it would have. This one is about Carter and Sofia. Sofia is one girl in the world that you don't dare look at. Why? Because of her family name. But reading this you really get to know the real Sofia outside of the family name. The writers gave her emotions and feelings that you could relate to and feel while reading about what is going on with her. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Sofia and Carter. It was a forbidden relationship but easily one that should happen. You can see it instantly. It was a gripping book with heat, joy, love and pain. Everything you would want in a great book. I will be going back and reading the other three in this series. Highly recommend.
Ah, I think this is the best book I've read this year. It hooked me in from the beginning. The characters, the story, the twists and turns...I loved it all. I started at book 4, but I will need to go back to book 1, because I need to know the story behind Quinn and Nate. It's definitely worth one clicking.
5 STARS Review by Leah Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog
Why am I just getting into this series?!?! This mafia romance at it’s best. Even if you jump into this book in this series you will not be disappointed.
Fia, Fia, Fia… it took me a bit to really enjoy your character. I started out thinking you were a spoiled little girl. But it turns out yes, you are a Principessa BUT you have been kept in the dark your entire life. Your father is unbelievable!! You read about controlling male characters but your father takes it to the max. Look up controlling and you will see the face of Vico. Fia’s character evolves rather well for this book. And in the end, I say bravo. Your backbone came out and Gurl!! I was rather shocked. I had to read that section over to make sure I read that right. A note for Charlotte Hart: someone needs to take out Daddy Dearest. I am hoping it is her uncle rather than Carter.
Now let’s talk about Carter. Good gravy. Just a dark, rough around the edges, don’t give an F type of attitude. Will not let anyone cross him, Alpha. I loved how Fia did not bring down the brick wall that was built around Carter but she moved a brick or two away and snuck right inside. No, he does not turn to mush once he falls for Fia. That man turns to fire. But then he can turn around and piss you off in the next sentence. Ha!
I do wonder about her parents and how their story continues after the end of this one. If you are hesitating, don’t. Maybe go back to the beginning and start at book 1. I know I already have book 1 on my list to read so I can get the whole picture of this series.
4.5 stars Feeling like a trapped bird in a cage, all Sofia wants is a little freedom to spread her wings and attend her friend’s twenty first birthday party. After all, she is nineteen and a college graduate on the verge of beginning her Master’s degree. However, she is unaware of who her father really is and the power he wields which prompts him to keep her under constant protection. Carter is like a robot when it comes to business or women. He has a certain operating system and does what he feels is necessary for any given situation. Not one to be easily swayed or ruffled, he is a balls to the wall kind of guy and let the chips fall where they may…that is until Sofia enters his life and he is coerced into taking her on a business trip to Miami. All Sofia wants is the truth about her family. Is that too much to ask? However, when things go sideways faster than a speeding bullet, can Carter save them both? This is one storyline that started a little slow but gained momentum as the plot progressed. It can be read as a standalone but as this is the first book I have read in the series; I recommend reading the prior books to get a better understanding of the dynamics at play here. I look forward to seeing where these authors will take this family next. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
Carter Wade brought up from age 9 by Quinn Cane believes himself to be a cold heartless man using and abusing women as he sees fit for his own pleasure
Sofia Vico a 19yrs old an only child who excelled at school graduated early and attended university. Fed up by her over bearing and over protective father decides that she needs to leave the family home following an argument with her father, as he won't permit her to go to a friend's party. Needing to go she decides that she is going to her uncle Quinn's home, where she meets Carter
What a roller-coaster of a book, I think I went through every emotion possible whilst reading this. Will Sophia be sorry that she wants to know about her father and why people fear him? Does Carter's heart open for Sophia? Do they both find what they need in each other? This is a highly recommended read it can be read as a stand alone though I recommend reading the previous books in the series, amazing can't wait to see what comes next from this two talanted women.
Forbidden Eyes by Charlotte E Hart and Rachel De Lune is book Four in the Cane Series and it absolutely did not disappoint. This is the story of Sofia Vico and Carter Wade. I could not get enough of these characters and was sucked in from beginning to end.
Carter is the boy that Quinn Cane and Emily Brooks raised in the first book which was called Innocent Eyes. Sofia is the child of Benjamin Vico and Hope Winters that was in Vengeful Eyes. While all the books have some type of connection, I do think you could read them as stand alone reads and not be lost. In Forbidden Eyes, we learn that Sofia has lived a very sheltered life. She's not allowed to do much and it causes her to sneak out and that's how our characters wind up connecting. Carter has a heart of steel. He doesn't believe anyone or anything can penetrate it either.
These two connect though in ways he doesn't think possible and the more he is around Sofia the more he becomes vulnerable. No story is easy though and this two will have their ups and downs. This is an absolute must read!
WOW! This was one hell of a rollercoaster ride of action, danger, suspense and intrigue! Once you start reading you can't stop. These two amazing authors have brought us a story that grips you right from the start and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end!
The main characters are intense and well written. The storyline is fantastic, dark and twisted - a perfect mafia/crime boss story. Carter and Sofia (the main characters) shouldn't be together but they can't help but refuse what their souls cry out for. When they eventually come together it is explosive and very steamy.
I can’t wait to see what these two amazing authors come out with next. It is sure to be another awesome story!
The next generation of Cane is as much a force to be reckoned with as the first generation. It was very fun to read about the coming age of a Cane/Vico child. This is still a dark romance. It contains episodes of violence. This story is not predictable, but is exactly how I would expect an extremely sheltered child to grow up. Imagine finding out your Dad is The Crime Boss. That is a lot to wrap you head around. I am really hoping there will be another book in this series. There is a situation that I would like to see resolved. This Cane family really loves hard and protects what’s theirs. I love this story!
Sofia is turned 19 and she wanted to go out with her only three friends.. Her mom going to let her good until her father walks in . So all hell breaks out and Sofia is fighting with her Dad who has always kept security with her , It the same speech that all kids tell there parent when they are 18. Only a lot more heated. Sofia decides to find out why she was always with security and what her father really and uncle really does. This is a emotional time in her life as she try’s to venture though what she had no ideas of her family.
