With eight fun tabs to pull, kids will love seeing Pete and his buddies' spooky fun Halloween costumes!
In this sturdy tabbed board book from New York Timesbestselling creators Kimberly and James Dean, Pete the Cat is almost ready for the Halloween parade. But first, he has to gather all of his friends!
Perfect for young Pete the Cat fans, this Halloween tabbed board book is sure to be a spook-tacular hit!
Pete the Cat Happy Halloween by Kimberly Dean is a classic tale about Pete the Cat going around his neighborhood and picking up his friends. Unlike other Pete the Cat books, this story doesn't have a message that can be told. Pete the Cat picks up his friends who are dressed as various things such as a wizard, ghost, spider, pumpkin, etc. This book felt (In my opinion) disappointing. The artwork was amazing as always but I would have added maybe a theme of friendship or something to give the story a better final scene. Kimberly Dean's writing and characters never fail at making a great book but this is the first Pete the Cat book that I didn't feel that same energy. Overall I feel that if there was more of a story to follow this book would have earned all 5 stars but (personally) I think it deserves 3 stars. Although young children who are starting to read might enjoy this book I think this is a perfect choice for a spooky story.
Pete the Cat just can't wait for the Trick-or-Treat Carnival. There, he meets up with his friends in different fun Halloween costumes. Kelly's an astronaut, Alligator's a skeleton, Emma's a witch, Squirrel's a wizard, Gus is a ghost, and Grumpy Toad's a spider. The friends get ready to enter into the Halloween parade with Marty, who was dressed as a pumpkin. It is a story that has taught us that time at Holloween is spent with friends and making memories of the Holiday.

2.5 stars-- The illustrations are super cute, but as is typical with the later Pete books, there's not much of a story or creative spark. The intended audience for the board book is young enough that this probably won't matter, however.
All the characters you meet in Pete the Cat: Meet Pete get dressed up for Halloween. A wonderful companion book for that first one. With the same tabbed format little ones can be introduced to series books and families can learn their children's reading likes!
Follow Pete the Cat as he travels around town picking up his costumed friends to go join the Halloween parade. We meet a mummy, astronaut, skeleton, wizard, ghost, spider and pumpkin.
