We meet a new character who is intriguing right from the beginning. Her name is Kah-Lee, and the gods created her. Sonata meets with Pau at the citadel and punches him right in the face after she learns he has given up on saving Treen. Both Pau and Sonata enter into a seat of learning, which I think is a terrible idea. There’s something eerie about Kah-Lee, and I would not have my brain played with just because someone told me to do so.
In their dream state, we learn about the sleeping sickness slowly infecting the Gods, until Kah-Lee is their only hope. And Kah-Lee is a goddess. Treen comes back to life, but he seems an empty shell of his previous self. I don’t trust Kah-Lee; I am suspicious of her intentions. The group travel to Perdita to find all the Lumani dead, and decide it is urgent to travel to New Salomar next, but all Sonata finds is death. She promises to avenge her people.
This issue introduced some new ideas, but they left me a little confused more than anything else. Who is Kah-Lee? Is she the one who mass-murdered? Is she trying to pit Pau and Sonata against each other? I hope we learn more in the next couple of issues.
