My therapist had been telling me to read this for literally months and i kept putting it off. Finally read it over a long weekend and i have not shut up about it since. My hisband is probably tired if hearing about attachment stykes at this point lol
The part about anxious attachment... i had to put the book down for a second. Like it was unconfortably accurate. I kept thibkibg about arguments from years agi and suddenly they made so much more sense. Not in a "yay, i'm fixed" way but more like...oh. oh.
It's not a perfect book, some parts felt a little repetitive and the case studies got a bit much. But the core ideas are genuinely useful in a way that a lot of self hep books aren't.
Someone in my sewing fb group i'm in mentioned the Attached app as a companion to the book and i've been using it on my commute. Nice to have something that actually applies this stuff to real situations instead of just theory.
Anyway if you're in therapy and your therapist keeps mentioning attachment, just read jt. Don't wait 6 mos like i did
