Toby McElroy yelled out, “Mister Long, did you see our paint horses bein’ drove up this road?” “No, we sure didn’t, but we’ve only been here minutes. Who’d be driving em?” “Willis and Wilber Stoner an’ Andy Mathews. They shot Pa an’ took five hundred dollars what he was gonna pay off our loan with. Then they opened the corral an’ drove sixteen of our paint horses up this road.” “Why’re you walking?” “They shot ol’ Red an’ Brownie both, them’s the only horses we’ve got me an’ Dobie could ride.” David asked, “You mean they just shot your horses?” “Uh huh an’ Pa.” “David, you get Misty on home, I’ll walk with the boys and check on Paul. I’ll be home after a bit.”
The U. S. Marshal Shorty Thompson stories just get better and better with each new adventure. Monty and Lefty certainly added anew twist to this outstanding masterpiece, as their western humour pushed my reading desire to the limit. Great job by the most compelling author ever.
What can I say. Another day in paradise reading Shorty Thompson is always a five star worthy extravaganza of of American western folklore adventure. This is one exciting episode after the other, with enough suspenseful excitement to maintain any reader's undivided attention from beginning to end. Shorty,as always, does his outstanding investigation, but throw Monty and Lefty in with him, and the results are unbelievably outstanding! Some of the most compelling and heartwarming storylines I have ever had the opportunity to follow. I am always impressed with Mr. Paul Thompson's character selections, but he went above and beyond with this group. They definitely portrayed their assigned roles to perfection, even the bad guys did great. Definitely recommend this compassionate storytelling masterpiece to all you western addicted readers, but even those of any other venue will certainly be as overwhelmed also! Your loss If you don't try this outstanding story, by the master of western adventures.😁
