Breezy Spoon Diner Cozy Mystery #4

The Pineapple Upside-Down Case

Rate this book
Welcome to the Breezy Spoon Diner, where murder is served up hot!

Halloween is coming to the quirky little town of East Spoon Creek City, and Dani O'Shea is serving up great food, great conversation and down-home hospitality at the Breezy Spoon Diner to hungry guests and trick-or-treaters alike. But it's not ghosts or vampires that are getting everyone in town spooked; it's a famous writer who has returned to town to write a tell-all book exposing the townsfolk's darkest secrets!

When murder puts an end to the writer and his book, and the Breezy Spoon's famous pineapple upside-down cake is found at the crime scene, Dani must find out who is willing to kill-- and kill again to keep their deadly secret from coming to light! Dani's landlord, hunky and flirty fireman Mark Adams wants her to stay safe at home with him before she becomes a ghost for Halloween, but with time running out before an innocent person goes to jail for the crime, Dani will have to deal with hit men, bodybuilders and maybe even a lake monster to catch the real killer!

The Breezy Spoon Diner in East Spoon Creek City was owned and run by Dani O'Shea, with her pineapple upside-down cake very popular. But what wasn't popular was the arrival in town of a writer, prepared to dish up the scandal of the town's folks in his new book. Staying at a run down old B&B just out of town, he had people who'd followed him to East Spoon Creek City to take the money he owed them. And when he was discovered, dead as a doornail, with remnants of Dani's pineapple upside-down cake on the scene, she knew she'd have to find the killer - to help the sheriff, her brother Bob.

I chose to read The Pineapple Upside-Down Case as I needed a Q author for a challenge. Tracey Quinn has disappointed me though, with this book. Silly, and definitely not laughable, it's filled with editing errors, which would be easily fixed with a good editor. I'll find another Q author should I need one...

"East Spoon Creek City, You Have To Live Somewhere'".

I may have thought this was cute and zany 10 or 20 years ago - but now it just reads overly silly and really outdated.

An unsuccessful author - who somehow swindled a publisher to publish his first book - has returned to his small town of about 1200 to extort them - They can either pay him $1000 or he will expose all their dirty little secrets in a tell-all book. Surprise, surprise, soon after he winds up dead.

The story about the girl wanting to get engaged and married before anyone else and then writing a false story about stolen valor in a small town paper was just shocking and appalling! The lack of debit cards and everyone writing $50 and up to $50,000 checks to each other was just wild. The joking around about hating your spouse, the crazy inept detectives (get that guy another slice of pie!) weren't even cute enough to save this one for me.

This one just did not work for me.

A laugh a minute

Tracy Quinn has a way with words. Her characters are funny and the humor is often dry wit. A very funny read!

Dani O'Shea, owner of the Breezy Spoon Diner, lives in East Spoon Creek City, a gossip and busybody capitol. Best selling novelist Rudolph Dean Richards has rented a house to stay in while he writes an expose on the town. Accompanying him is his new executive assistant, Bryce Moran. Soon, his biological daughter, Tara Mercer, comes to town looking for him. The town is buzzing when Richards announces that he is writing a book that will detail scandalous things the residents have done unless they pay him off. When Richards is found dead and Tara is the main suspect, Dani begins her sleuthing despite the warnings of her brother Deputy Sheriff Bob and her love interest/fireman Mark Adams. Keeping her life interesting are her waitress Charlene Hensley and busboy Jimmy Taylor. This mystery series consistently delivers a mystery with a side of romance and humor. The eclectic group of characters keep me coming back for more.

Dried Turkey oh no!

Dani Mark & Bob are a hoot! I wish real relationship were like theirs maybe they are for some but not me! Loser returns home & he is a loser with a capital L. There are typos and I volunteer to proof read in case the author reads this review. The typos and all I love this series! Onto the next book 😍

Cozy mystery

This is my first time reading this author’s books. It is a very cute story with lots of mystery and suspense. And if it wasn’t for Dani the real murder would not have been discoverers happy reading everyone

Funny but had foul language

I laughed a lot. But the foul language was not necessary I would have given it 4 stars if it was not used.
