Some really interesting concepts introduced here—kind of breaking the fourth wall but not really, explaining the multiverse without ever calling it a multiverse. Very excited to see what’s next.
So, usually, DC does better with Metafiction. Works like Final Crisis did it brilliantly. Loki #3 is the first time Marvel did something really meta about how superhero stories are told. It's a joy to read, and has made Loki one of the books I look forward to the most now.
"Loki The god who fell to earth. Chapter three: your move." I love his costume it's a mixture of classic Loki and the modern one
"Sorry, kids, would you mind repeating all of that, a bit slower and in the correct order this time? Time has no 'order.' your primitive matter-based mind simply cannot comprehend the true dimensions of-- Hi. I'm now. the one who won't shut up over there is then. We are the children of eternity." The house of ideas is truly as Loki said , "splendiferous" and I love how the kids' names match their personalities as entities, then is very eloquent, intelligent, his thought is based on long term results of his words, let's say he metaphorically sees far Meanwhile, now is more straight forward and skips the long impressive sentences , more joyful
"Drrf. Recently demoted. Born small." HELPP😭
"Sorry, whose story is this again?" Great way to get the attention back to you my dear "Everyone. Any hero who has ever marveled at. Written unconsciously but the collective minds of their true believers and archived here for all eternity. Before you are the books of Thor. Mostly pictures, I'll wager. And those? That fellow appears to have even more stories than my brother. The books of Spider-Man.[...] You're telling me Thor, Spider-Man-- they all came before you and struct this bargain? each gift is different. Most heroes have no memory of our intervention. But we heard their requests all the same. In dreams, or prayers. Or anguished screams. Oof! for some, it was a matter of necessity. No single lifetime, even an asgardian one, could contain all the heroic feats they were prophesied to perform. Fast-forward, please. for others, we were humbled by their sense of responsibility. They desired more time to sacrifice-- a chance, perhaps, to save everyone. But still others ? In their heart of hearts... they asked for more time to be punished. Sounds like the wolverine I know. So what does my 'heart of hearts' tell you it wants? Freedom. From your own success. you know what they say about the man who suddenly got everything he's ever wished for? He was bored to tears.
THE CHESS GAME BETWEEN THEN AND LOKI? FANTASTIC "I slay as a queen. (In more ways than one.) [...] And finally, true to form... I triumph as a king." "Good game, old sport. Although, you might want to brush up a bit if you lost a chess match to Thor. oh, we didn't make Thor do the trials. He's Thor. *sigh* Let's just wrap this up, shall we? I'm getting the strangest headache all of a sudden. sign the book, and you will live lifetimes on top of lifetimes. Time enough to serve your kingdom and yourself. So, if I am elsewhere but I am needed here? You will be here. And if I am needed elsewhere? You will be there. no wonder my head hurts. You realize time doesn't work that way. Storytime does. Are you not still the god of stories? Eh.Let's find out. [I know, I know. Signing a book never ends well. But what can I say? They're right. I'm bored. And I'm Loki.] That was easy. Didn't look that way when he was stabbing you. The bargain is struck. Loki's books will be rewritten with a hero's stories... and a hero's death. one not even he would dare to return from."
"For a man who claims not to be king, he certainly loves his monuments. I wonder how many iron Man dolls get sold every time he saves the world. 'heroism.' Nice work if you can get it."
"Loki. The lie-smith. The backstabber. Oh, hello! It's the 'bird' again. I knew you were nocturnal! You have no army here. You have no thor. Yet somehow I beat you time and again, nightmare. Occasionally whilst I'm a powerless child. where are you, though? The child? Because that's not what I heard. Struck a nerve, I see. Oh gods, he knows. Does he know? Does everyone know what I did? My nightmare vision can see what the god of lies we really fears-- the truth. The one you've been keeping even from yourself. it's all a bit too good to be true, isn't it? You're miraculous escape. Your heroic redemption. The mind plays tricks in its final moments. turning seconds into days-- and whose mind is trickier than yours, laufeyson? Time to stop lying to yourself. The truth is... surely this is all part of the plan. don't I always have a plan? ... You never escaped from laufey's gut. I would very much like to have a plan."
Ngl that baby with a Loki comic on it? Bit weird, at least it'll probably grow up to have taste and his name is Loki, Daniel responded so well and humorously to it lol
Mischief mail lool "he eludes all labels that we puny morals possess as he clearly isn't any one thing in terms of morality, sanity, gender, sexuality or anything else, basically. He's fluid and every sense this world entails, and I have faith with this idea of Loki being the god of hybridity and transcending boundaries will be satisfyingly explored during this run. I also very much enjoy the brotherly dynamic between Loki and Thor now that loki finally has his own throne, which he doesn't seem to want that bad after all." "He's redeemable, because he's a creation of fiction, and he kinda, sorta, maybe knows it- or acts like she does- so why not just declare himself a hero and see if it sticks this time?" "I've always loved Marvel's villains, especially the archnemeses who are I have to wait also their best friend or, in case of loki, family. As a former (current?) bad guy, Loki can have adventures that a lot of other heroes can't- and make trickier compromises and worse mistakes. he's a character who's had great power and no responsibilities... until now. so our story is all about how, or if , he can rise to it. [...] Loki is kinda both- a noble-born royal son who is also an impulsive agent of chaos." "I think that is why a lot of us like the characters we do, because we can see some of us in them." "Loki is something of a different character since the war of the realms. he died and was reborn, and now people are treating him differently, which triggers you have more change as he tries to process how to handle that. He's not used to being trusted or respected" "colorist David Carrillo who brought his a game a stands for avengers to make our lucky call me clock just has shiny and superhero against locus trying to be [...] and cover artist ozgur yildirim , who makes every issue of Loki poster-worthy (marvel, get on that). [...] And if you've been reading, you know that loki is spectacular at falling." "Transformative question, I have no idea, and I will never find out. It's just one of the many 'coincidences' that make up the big narrative tapestry of the universe." "Until next time, keep keepin' it low key."
I love how it's Loki that shows us how he and some others have been aware that their stories are the comics we're reading, breaks the forth wall in a way and even started the multiverse era of the mcu It shows his importance as an entity of this universe and I'm glad it's him
