***From bestselling author Kenya Wright, comes the Butcher and the Violinist book 2.***
The Butcher of the Corsican.
Jean-Pierre’s relentless pursuit of Eden has paid off. But can he keep her safe? Russians lurk within the shadows. Dead bodies pile. There are new enemies on the board, and it all goes down in Paris.
WARNING: This is KW, being very KW. Mystery. Money. Darkness. Power. Mind twists. Sex. If you enjoyed Dirty Kisses, Power, and No Ordinary Love, then you won't be able to put down this addictive story. And you’ll make Jean-Pierre a new book boyfriend to dream about.
Kenya Wright wrote her first novel during her third year at UM Law school. She dropped out a month after the release and never looked back.
Words are power, and Kenya wants to be the greatest wizard that ever lived.
It's an audacity to inspire and teach the healing of love through arousal.
It's this crazy idea that love can not only help a reader escape, but the story can also teach the person about being human, while making them laugh, cry, and hot for more sex.
"Sonata (The Butcher and the Violinist)" was EVERYTHING! Jean-Pierre and Eden are together and even her aunt Celina won't or should I say can't divide them. With Eden, Jean Pierre is whole and she makes him calmer
until ... his violinist, Eden is kidnapped by the Bratva and the Butcher will move mountains to get her back!
Assumptions are made and Jean-Pierre haphazardly kidnaps The Lion's Mouse and Kazimir is literally gone KING KONG batshit CRAZY ...destroying Paris for his 'mysh'!
So if you're familiar with Kenya Wright's creative storytelling, expect more darkest, clever twists and turns with demented actions on the parts of past associations, cousins (Rafael, Giorgio, Louis)who will do anything for Jean-Pierre and vice versa and steamy smexy scenes and drawings that leaves you panting for me.
This story alone is leading to even more intense stories--- I hope... at the end of this story hopefully it's Gwen in Rafael's story entitled "Motif", book 3 of the Butcher and the Violinist series... And more of Kazimar (Lion) and Emily (Mouse) in "Dirty Hearts" and hopefully then pl let it be Louis and Gwen's younger sister, Natalie!
We can't forget about OCD Giorgio and his uhm maid fetish I guess.. but that's another story for the ages... LOL
These two books were outstanding! Just the pictures alone between the chapters will make you grab and clutch your pearls and go find your man! I loved the MC's loved the supporting characters Louis, Raphael and the others. Like another lady said in her review Kenya you need to add a part 3!
This book was so good putting it down was not an option. The story was so gripping it would not let me go, as always miss Wright showed up and showed out.
I liked the first book better,..but this was good a tad slow. Lots of sex, lots and lots of sex! There are also some interesting pictures. The second part picks up and there is a ton of action and some complete craziness from the alpha males in the story. Book left open for two more books. I will read.
5 STUPENDOUS, AMAZING, WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST READ, MYSH, REINE, LE BOUCHER AND THE LION AWESOMENESS, I AM SPEECHLESS, SPEECHLESS I SAY STARS******** I. FREAKING. LOVED. IT!!!!! WOW. I am not sure that I can give this review the justice it deserves but I will try. I started reading Dirty Kisses, my first book by Kenya Wright and I fell in love with her books. I started reading them all! If you have read Rhapsody, and I am sure that you all have, then you know that Jean-Pierre is OBSESSIVE AND PSYCHOTIC when it comes to his Eden. If you have read Dirty Kisses then you also know that Kazimir is TOTALLY, OBSESSIVE, OTT, ALPHA, BANANAS, CRAY, CRAY when it comes to his Emily. All I can say is that Eden is taken and the city of Paris will NEVER be the same again. Le Boucher and the Lion engage in an EPIC BATTLE!!! There was sooooooooo much killing!!! I loved it! The imagery was vivid and the rivers ran dark red and I loved it! I loved it! I craved it, Lol. I felt like I was watching an action movie. And Emily, OMG my Emily was the FREAKING BOMB!!!! i LOVE THAT CHICK!!! Lol. Filled with incredibly descriptive sexual scenes, words that produced a song in my head and an emotional, heart felt story that left me wrung out. I read this book into the early morning and did not sleep well, as I dreamt about all these characters. Thank you for the wonderful glimpses of these great and very scary men. We get to see how they came to be and I truly enjoyed those moments. I laughed hilariously at the scenes with Giorgio and Rafael, Rafael and Louis, Jean-Pierre and Giorgio, Jean-Pierre and Kazimir, there were so many, that I fell off my bed laughing uproariously. My Kindle is bookmarked with all those scenes as some of my favorites. I am beyond pleased with this book and Ms. Wright did a FANTASTIC job!!! She put her all in it and I am not sure who I am in love with more. Is it Kazimir or jean-Pierre? They were both phenomenal in this book and I am so glad that we know that there will be a next and a next and a next and the most important one that I cannot wait for, books of these terrific men and their love interests! Kudos on the epilogue!
BRAVO! STANDING APPLAUSE!!! BRAVO, Ms. Wright on a job VERY well done!
I was not as enthused with this book as I was with the first one. The graphics were a nice touch but I felt that the book was all over the place. At times funny, in particular during the battle but otherwise lots of unresolved issues. At the end of the book 1 we learn about the war between Celina and Jean Pierre but in book 2 it’s a lot about their romance, but the main issue of Celina is brushed aside and all we get is secondary information. Also Jean Pierre is supposed to be such a big guy but Mouse gets the best of him? Really? After what the Devil did to Eden it’s seems silly to me that he would let it go. We read a lot about Rafael but I felt that we didn’t get enough dialogue between the cousins. It’s like JP wrapped himself around Eden and ignored everything else. Same thing at the end the author alluded to the new women but we didn’t get to know anything about them. The scene where he scars himself felt over the top and unnecessary to me. Same thing I don’t understand why Mouse had to escape. Had she stayed the whole handover would have gone smoother with less bloodshed. Lastly I got fed up with Rafael whining about Shalimar. She didn’t love him and on top of that she was selfish. It’s a trait she displayed in the first book already. She and Celina used Eden without caring that she might get killed in the process. As an aside this whole necklace thing was proof that JP wasn’t as switched on as we were lead to believe. How come he didn’t scan it before giving to Eden? I also hated that like JP she lost the violin as it was after such an integral part of her. It would have been nice to have a follow up scene letting bygones be bygones between Mouse, Kazimir and JP. Also Something is up with her dad.
Kenya Wright put her foot in this series. Jean-Louis would doing anything for his queen. I’m glad this story came full circle with the other series and had a sweet epilogue. I still have questions such as who is Eden’s dad really? It’s hinted at the end that he’s more than meets the eye. I’m thinking he’s really Russian. Hopefully we’ll learn more in Emily and Kazmir’s story. I’m glad the author didn’t give us a weird shocking twist like she did with the 2nd book in their series.
Overall this was a great completion of their story.
I am in love with this series! KW did not come to play! Sonata definitely wowed me, even more than Rhapsody. I love the characters. I could not put this book down. I've been up all night. So good!!
I enjoyed Jean-Pierre and Eden story from the very beginning. I still wanted to know Eden father story, hopefully we want miss out on their wedding. I can't wait for Rafael story. Would recommend .
I am in love with every man in your books. Lion being my #1 and then Jean-Pierre . I need you to continue to write your amazing stories they keep me going. Thank you
Where does one start when a book is so damn good? Kenya Wright you will forever be one of my favorite authors. This book was phenomenal from peace and calm, to lightening and thunder this book took me through it all
Jean-Pierre definitely fit the bar when it came to romance and not being afraid to show his feelings towards Eden. Nothing and I mean absolutely nothing could/would stop him from cloaking Eden in his love vise versa. Eden isn’t an Emily but I was still proud of her strength displayed. Let’s not forget that Love makes us crazy, so we do crazy things as can be seen when Jean-Pierre thought Kaz had Eden.
I definitely appreciated seeing some of my favorite characters appearing in this book.
One thing I truly admired in this book was the closeness between the Laurent men. They had me cracking up at different intervals lol most times being during a crucial moment. Danger can be at their door but their craziness exceeded. I’m happy to see that there will be a book giving me Rafael’s story. Boy did I feel the pain of his lost, when I played the song Unchained Melody, I felt like I was right there experiencing his pain, my gosh it was so surreal
Recommending this book is my way of expressing how great this book is. Buy, borrow it on Kindle unlimited or however you can you would surely not regret it. Also I’m looking forward to reading more on Kaz and Emily in Dirty Hearts. Hopefully we can get a little on Mr OCD too lol *fingers crossed *
This book was everything JP and Eden rock .I hate how it seemed that they ran away from the Lion in Paris . Even tho the Lion was as much feared as JP in Russia and else where JP wasn't small potatoes..Secondly , I hate how JP or Eden really didn't get closure from what the devil did to Eden .Thirdly the whole Eden being taken made the corscian appear to be unskilled and weak which they were neither .My heart broke for Rafael when he saw shalimar .Even tho he had a very bad way of showing it I think he really cared about her ,I don't think he truly loved her but was more in love with the idea of love because he was how love changed JP. Shalimar death was horrible but she caused it on herself she let greed and heartbreak fuel her decision and she played a game she couldn't win .In the end Rafael still have her a going home service fit for royalty. The birth of Marcella may have saved but JP and Eden I hate that she was never able to play the volin again just like JP tragic end to his playing .I took my time reading this book because at times it all seem to much to take in all at once but I'm glad I did it that way because I was able to get a better understanding of the characters.I wish I could give this series a 10 because Kenya you deserve it this serious is phenomenal can't wait to read Rafael book .If you want a series that will blow your mind keep you on the edge of your seats and but you on and emotional rollercoaster ride this is the series to read .I'm forever a fan . Thank you for the gift that you give to the world
Wow! What a way to bring a story back, this was like dropping a nuclear bomb! The writer doesn't waste dropping us into the action. We are thrown into the sexiest, and so so dangerous romance. There is so much at play in this story and one of them is that we get to see a complex relationship grown and blossom and to bring a family together. There are twist and turns that you will not expect and there is going to be a power play we are not going to see coming. You are also going to learn what happens when play in the, school yard with the big boys. This was just a good story, entertaining and there are moments when you experience a range of emotions. If you want a worthy series this is it,not mention you have to read the Lion and the Mouse.
I forgot how much I love JP! He really is such a smooth talker and everything he says he just so beautiful. I literally find myself swooning over a fictional character lol. I felt so bad for Eden for dealing with such a large amount of loss in this novel but loved how she persevered.
I appreciate the overlap of Kazimir & Emily’s storyline. A lot of authors do it with their series, but KW does it really well here.
Also, I really liked that first scene between Rafael and Giorgio while riding through Paris...and almost any scene with Louis, Rafael, and Giogio. KW gave us teasers to some new relationships and I can’t wait to see which ladies the guys end up with... but, more importantly, how their stories unfold. This was another winner for me, can’t wait for book 3!
Chaos reigns when a Butcher and a Lion are angered ....but it's war...when the women who holds their hearts in their hands are in danger...between endless passion....erotic sensual sex....beautiful imagery of sexual escapades.....lies all consuming obsession...these two powerful men are well skilled in sex and war....but can they protect Eden and Emily...the violinist and the mouse....and now two more sexy women...the chef and the dancer...Raphael and Giorgio are up next....queue up the Moscato,Riesling...Chardonnay.....he!!....a bottle of Ripple for all I care....KW....you go gurl😜
The Butcher and his Queen are on 🔥. If you’ve never read this series start with Rhapsody , the story of how the one of the most notorious gangsters (known as the Butcher) met his Queen and became a man obsessed. Full passion, action and mystery, it’s classic Kenya Wright. She never skimps on the details and character building. Plot 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Sexy scenes 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Action 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 My only complaint is the loose end with one of the characters, I’m assuming will be answered in another story.
LOVED this story. Will we find out about “The Devil”? Shalimar and Celina definitely got what they deserved. I was kind of shocked at how pig headed Shalimar was. Why would they put Eden through all of that? I’m also hoping that we find out more about Eden’s father in the future.
I’m so glad that their will be a part 3. I need to see what happens between Rafael and Gwen.
Craziness!!! ✔ Dirty Hot Sexy ✔✔✔ Humor ✔ Danger ✔Blood ✔ I love anything by this author!!! So excited to see new stories spinning off! No spoilers. Kenya Delivers.
So I must admit to some bias with this one, more a 3.5. I still love Jean-Pierre and Eden and there's lots more smoking hot scenes to read. The story is engrossing like the first and is set primarily in France. There's violence, the not quite on the right side of good continues for Jean-Pierre and crew. This time though, the violence touches Eden but not from Jean-Pierre's dealings, it's in relation to her aunt Celina which was a surprise. Eden gets snatched and her face is cut as a way to get her aunt Celina to cave and give up some information. Eden is permanently scarred from those cuts and Jean-Pierre carves the same cuts into his cheek so that they match. Eden's aunt Celina resurfaces with the threat to Eden and her own machinations and Shalimar also makes an appearance. Both women made their way to Paris where Eden is living with Jean-Pierre. Shalimar gives Eden a necklace from her aunt that has nuclear codes on them which is why Eden is taken but both Celina and Shalimar die in this book for their involvement. Eden also loses the ability to play the violin when her finger is sprained from her ordeal.
Jean-Pierre is gone, totally and completely for Eden so he kind of loses his grip a couple of times while he worked to get her back. Even so, he was more calm afterward than I would have expected but I was in no way surprised that he was willing to take it out on the Russian. Their interactions were more tame than anything but lots of people died on both sides. The scene at the mall was wild and I kept waiting for something to happen to Jean-Pierre but it never does.
Some things that distracted in this one were the commas. There were so many misplaced commas and especially in the beginning that it took a bit to get pulled in. Once in though, I found myself being skeptical of certain information in the book, some of it just didn't make sense. Like the Mouse grappling with and getting the best of Jean-Pierre while she's wrapped up in a sheet and how she's taking out rough mafiosos by herself and without backup. Another was how easily Eden was kidnapped on Jean-Pierre's home turf without sounding an alarm before she was taken with all of Jean-Pierre's men dead. We never learn what drug Eden is given when she is taken which was even more important because we learn she's pregnant and whatever the drug was, it made her hallucinate. The French guys don't read all that French and everybody is speaking English in France so tmEden understands what's going on around her. Something different about this book is the French is to a minimum so no translations when Jean-Pierre does his language flips, it's either explained or written in English.
I actually enjoyed the first book more than the second. I felt like this one left two many things unanswered and I felt like the ending was rushed. How was Jean-Pierre in contact with her dad? What happened with Qwen? Who were the guys coupled up with at the wedding? Why can’t she play the violin anymore? I hated that the author took away her ability to play. I also didn’t like how Aunt Celina was no longer mentioned for chapters then suddenly was dead and Eden was just okay with it but then in the first book Aunt Celina was one of the main characters. What happened to the Devil? Why even mention him being kidnapped by the Lion if you’re just going to bypass Jean-Pierre getting to take him out. Why did Jean-Pierre not show Eden his “bows”? Overall this was a good book and had a HEA but I just wanted more so much more to be answered.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I felt so unsatisfied with this whole book. It felt more like an introduction to all the side characters love lives/next books, rather than about Eden and J-P's story. It also seemed like there were a lot more errors in this one. I almost wish I had stopped reading after book 1.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this book/series! Eden and Jean-Pierre= Oh La La! What a great book and I especially enjoyed how the Mouse and the Lion were tied into this epic tale. You've got more twists, adventure AND we get major backstory and intro to Jean-Pierre's cousin, Rafael in this book. He's another intense French man with strong desires. Oh my, I cannot wait. But back to Eden and Jean-Pierre, I mean, wow! Kenya Wright really didn't fool around with this book. It's just so much fun to read her love stories with complicated characters. Love is such an intense emotion and she knows how to write about it so very well, you really feel it jumping off the pages. Let us not forget the artwork in this book! So hot and so beautiful. I want to blow a couple of them up and put them on my wall hahaha No, but really, they are really a nice addition to the book, giving the readers even more visuals that perfectly illustrate what is going on between Eden and Jean-Pierre and even a funny flashback for Rafael! Highly-recommended! I can't wait to read Book 3 of the Lion and Mouse too!
This is a continuation of the love affair between Eden and Butcher. Theirs is a hot a heavy affair that lets you know they are soulmates. In this book, they go so far as to have perfume and cologne designed to remind each other of their distinct scents. The intimacy these two share is off the charts and has caused The Butcher's cousins to look for love or something more because of what they see. However an Old enemy rears his ugly "face"in this case and sends the Butcher spiraling out of control. Someone kidnaps Eden!..The Butcher and the Lion nearly destroy Paris. The Butcher finds an ally in the Lion's camp, I hope. Aunt Celina and Shalimar have parts that change this story on many fronts. Rapheal may have found his heart to lose it to another. New Characters are unleashed with deep stories I hope to see in the future. Great Read..love part 2 and waiting for part3..
I mean it got REALLY ugly. Things I found left open in book one were answered for me in this one HOWEVER, now I have a few new ones. i.e. Misha, The Devil, where the world has her daddy been and what was he REALLY doing? These are among a few. Jean-Pierre was a man gone INSANE, especially with that stunt he pulled on The Lion. OMG I was shivering as if I was the one who committed the deed. The Lion really roared all over Paris. If I didn't already know he was so in love with his Mouse his actions surely showed it. Loved all the action, hot and steamy scenes as well as the tender moments. Also loved the introduction of the new characters. Will be looking forward to book three Rafael intrigued me in this book and another bonus I saw book three of the Lion and Mouse series is also coming soon. Excellent read as always.
