21-year old Scarlett is a rising star at the academy where she teaches. Her students love her and there’s always a waiting list for her classes. But every night she goes home to an empty mansion with dark rooms and even darker secrets. Being the only surviving member of her family is lonely.

So when Scarlett crosses paths with Devon—tall, dark and looking like her favorite fantasy—she’s immediately infatuated.

It turns out Devon is more than just a pretty face. He’s enigmatic, worldly, and surprisingly well-read. In fact, he can quote Scarlett’s favorite book word for word.

Devon is everything Scarlett has always dreamed of… literally. And this is troubling.

The more Devon pursues Scarlett, the more she thinks she knows him from her past. But why can’t she remember? And why does Devon insist they’ve never met before? Does he protest too much?

Devon is aware that Scarlett is hiding secrets but he doubts they concern him. That is, until Scarlett discovers something about Devon, something even he doesn’t know, something that will change everything.

As Devon and Scarlett delve deeper into what happened to Devon, the two find themselves falling down a rabbit hole of desire and mystery.

Meanwhile, the hand of fate has turned and a portal has opened. A portal to a dangerous underworld of fallen angels… also known as vampires

“Vampire Night” by Alice Bell is a paranormal romance that delves very deep and successful into dark gothic.

Scarlett lives a double life, an appraised teacher by day and a lonely existence at night in the familiar dark gothic mansion, hiding a dark secrets. Meeting Devon feels like love at first sight, a dream come true, destiny indeed. Devon is drop-dead(ly) gorgeous, with emphasis on ‘deadly’, a well-educated and enigmatic guy that fills Scarlett with an eerie feeling of déjà-vu. Both characters feel connected through their torture existence and their own desperation trying to find redemption from their past. However, their own relationship bears a deadly danger, and the road to redemption is fill with heartbreak and mental breakdown.

Alice Bell’s writing style is deep, dark, gothic with a thrilling undertone, that keeps the reader invested in the story and the relationship of the two obviously desperate and tortured characters, wishing, even hoping against all odds that they are able to find redemption along the way. An interesting tale, that explores the meaning of sanity and destiny, under the mantle of a vampire story. Excellent dark gothic paranormal romance.

Not your typical vampire story. The vampires in the story are rather different than the blood sucking kind. They feed off of human emotions and sex...It's a combination of incubus/succubus and energy vampire. Devon's love for Zadie gets distorted when they separate in different paths after high school, and reunite years later once he's turned into a vampire. He only finds the love he had prior with a new girl Scarlett. Throughout the story Devon is conflicted with finding Zadie not just for his love for her but also to find his sire. The two women are so different but all the characters are connected to each other. The ending Devon finds his resolution between having to choose between his two loves as he realizes which one he truly loves. The story is well written with flashbacks to individual characters development. It shows how a pure love for one over time can be distorted into something else altogether, as well as finding one's self through true selfless love.

Beautiful dark goth fantasy. Scarlet and Devon are drawn to each other from the start, but the path towards their future is hidden by the cobwebs of the past. While the sense of deja vu, psychological trauma, and mental health issues are messing with the perception of reality, they are fighting for their chance of happiness, even dough not sure what that means and entails.
This is the kind of book that leaves you in a state of haze long after you have read it and brings a sense of nostalgia whenever you think about the beautifully flawed characters, emotionally charged scenes, or the climax of the supernatural struggle.

I received a complementary copy of this book from the author via Voracious Readers Only.

This book has a good story with Devon, Scarlett, and Zadie. It definitely reminds me of a 18th-19th century gothic tale, with the mysterious characters and vampiric elements. However there were times that I got confused because there were either too many details (which I tried to figure out which were really important and which were just there) or there were too little details in favor for moving the story along. It also felt cliched at times with the situations the characters found themselves in or how they acted. This made the story a bit easier to read but a bit predictable.

Really easy read with a great flowing story. I loved that the author mixed things up and had the vampires feeding on emotions rather than blood really clever.
