Samantha Moon isn’t prepared to handle the scariest moment of her life—her daughter’s turning eighteen.
Facing the truth her children are powerful in their own right is the door to a scary new reality, worse than her dread of what Elizabeth is planning. The dark masters are still out there, but it almost feels trivial compared to having an empty house… at least until the phone rings...
When a woman calls asking for help finding her missing mother, Samantha quickly realizes supernatural forces are involved. Worse, it appears to be Elizabeth’s doing. Sam has no idea why an obscure B-movie director would be important, but she does know one thing for certain...
The moment she’s been dreading for fourteen years is finally here...
J.R. Rain is the author of 110 novels and counting. He lives on an island in the Pacific Northwest, where he's hard at work on his next novel... and fighting off sparkly vampires.
I have to confess that I quite like this series. It’s a bit of a diversion from other books that I read. Normally a series about a soccer mom would not exactly be my cup of tea, even if she happens to be a vampire. This one I do like though. Maybe because it’s well written, or because Samantha is actually a very competent soccer mom, not prone to hysteria, and quite kick-ass when she want’s to be it, or because the author doesn’t go totally overboard with the world being filled with more uber-powerful magical and mythical creatures and gods than there are ordinary humans.
As the blurb states Samantha is tasked with finding someone’s mother. Of course there’s more to the story than just a missing mother and, unfortunately, Elizabeth is back. Well, Samantha call upon a few friends and after some investigations and running around we arrive at the big show-down at the end. Nothing very surprising really but a good and entertaining story. I whish the author would let Samantha watch something else than Judge Judy though. I mean, how long can you watch the same series and not much else?
Something I didn’t like about the book was this side story about her detective friends son. I am a stout believer in that a persons political affiliation, religion and their sexuality is their own business and they have every right to chose for themselves. However I do not care about other peoples choices and I don’t want to have those things thrown in my face. That part of the book had nothing to do with the actual story. It did not advance it nor did it advance Samantha’s development. It was there just to cater for a very vocal minority.
Well, at least Samantha discovered some new capabilities towards the end of the book.
Samantha is called about a case where a women's mother is missing. Samantha speaks to the woman and agrees that something is not right. As she looks into the case, she is running into dead ends left and right. She knows it is something supernatural. She contacts Sherbet to help run somethings she finds. Sherbet contacts her to help with a personal issue. Samantha runs into a young girl that calls to her. She really wants to help her. Samantha finds out that there is another missing person, that is just like her case. Samantha enlists Allison to help her reach the missing people. Turns out there is some serious magic involved. The realized that Elizabeth is involved and Samantha will go to save them. Samantha will go head to head with Elizabeth. This is quite the ride, it is slow build up with a lot at the end. There are so many moving parts in this book with Samantha. I am not going to give to much away, have to read it. This book just draws in further with each chapter read. When you reach the end, you want the next book right away. Can't wait to see what is next for Samantha in the next book.
I received an ARC Copy of this book and this is my honest review
Tammy has turned eighteen, Anthony will be sixteen soon, and Sam is nostalgic.
Jacky passes away and leaves his gym to Anthony.
Greta Adams hires Sam to find her mother Zandra, who has gone off with strangers.
Other prominent figures disappear also. Sam wonders if they are all creators, and if this is Elizabeth's handiwork.
Sam, Allison, Tammy and Anthony teleport to Barrow, Alaska, where Elizabeth is forcing the human creators to create a new 3rd dimensional world in another dimension.
When this fails, Elizabeth plans to conquer an existing more primitive version of earth. And of course Sam can't allow that to happen.
When her daughter Tammy turns 18 and a good friend dies, Sam becomes melancholy and begins to rethink her life and future. How did she get where she is and where does she go from here?
There’s a lot of emoting and commiserating on the part of Sam that it’s spreading the background story to the point it almost disappears until the very end then ‘opps, here it is’. If I hadn’t already loved the characters and the occasional cool scene I would be really getting bored with this series. The cake has mostly disappeared and there too much frosting.
Footnote: 1) I agree with her decision to hang onto the Momvan and get a second car.
Fave scenes: helping Jacky with the boxing bag, Sam’s talk with Paxton, Sam picking Tammy up at the party and Sam using her wings in the fight.
Another will written vampire haunting horror adventure thriller novel by J. R. Rain ☔ and Matthew S. Cox (Vampire for Hire Series book 19). Samantha Moon 🌙is hired to find the missing mother, author and director of vampire B movies. There are no leads and everyone's memory is erased. A retired boxer has a heart ❤ attack while boxing with Samantha at his gym. He dies greatly effecting the Moon 🌙 family. A man 🚹 goes missing another author. Once again no leads and everyone's memory is erased. Then a lead to Alaska and Elizabeth who is trying too take controlled of the world 🌎. Continued in next novel. I would recommend this series and author to readers of fantasy mysteries. Enjoy the adventure of reading or listening. 2022 👒😤😡
Why do we have to read about Sam not wanting her kids to grow up every book? Why do we have to read about her son’s skid marks and farting? Why do we have to hear about her ex and is infidelity again? Whatever happened to Kingsley?
This book was slow again but not as bad as book 17. I was excited to see Sam meet Elizabeth … but it wasn’t satisfying either. Why was Sam holding back? Why was she trusting Elizabeth? Then the book had an abrupt ending to be continued in the next book.
Vampire Destiny and Sam Moon not quiet a team player
So far I’ve lost count of where I am at in the number series of these books. This is the first that the ending wasn’t as expected. There were times that poor Sam was the lone savior of this universe with just her kids and witchy friend to meagerly help when needed. Not sure why the other power hitters weren’t involved with story. Maybe ending wouldn’t have been so nerve wrecking.
I've been waiting 19 books for the showdown between Sam and Elizabeth. I did feel that this book could have included the whole right and there was too much padding before we got to the "tea party" .
But off we go to Venezuela. Has Elizabeth misjudged Sam or is Sam and the team in over their heads? can Max vanquish his mum once more? who knows but I am away to find out!
What Sam is now, stuff continues to happen around her. This time she takes on a missing persons case that developed into much more. That and contemplating an empty nest struggle for her attention. Very enjoyable, I recommend it highly. Hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did!
Another great adventure for our heroine Sarah and family and friends. This one included Elizabeth, a dark vampire who wants to take over the world. And so the story continues. I'm excited to see another installment is scheduled for release next month. Thanks so much guys.
Rain and Cox together really work well as story tellers. Every story they collaborate on is very well done. The characters have a continuity of personalities that is satisfying to the reader. This book is interesting in that it uses creators as part of the story. There was a lot of blah -blah-blah, Sam talking to herself, but ok.
It never fails to amaze me how good this series is. Samantha and her children have evolved are are super laid back and living a relatively normal life until something supernatural comes up. Loved the ‘it will take 18 books to tell my story”. Samantha solved her case but found another.
Tammy turn 18 and Samantha Moon is flipping out. A house party that has more teen drink and now Elizabeth is back. What will Samantha do about teen drinking at party and can she stop Elizabeth? Great story
Sam is back with a vengeance. Believe it or not, the 19th book is this series is fresh and just pure fun. If you don’t know Sam Moon, you probably shouldn’t jump in here...do yourself a favor, find book one, sit back and relax, because you won’t stop... I didn’t.
The next installment in the series is as always, great! I thought JR Rain would run out of storyline for Samantha . He never ceases to amaze! I love Samantha Moon and this series!
If you're this far in and you don't finish the series we're from different planets. It's good,it won't disappoint you. The writing style is non-stop inside monologue for far longer than I like but it got back to action. Don't give up.
I'm not really sure what to say. I loved the book. I'm really excited because the fight with Elizabeth wasn't just a slam BAM thank you ma'am. I'm excited to read part two. I can't wait to see what happens. I hope it's an epic battle.
I absolutely love these books it’s quick fire on the edge of your seat reading looks like I will be binge reading the next few books , the characters are great the storyline is riveting I recommend them a very well deserved 5 stars
I struggled through this and it doesn’t complete its plot. The endless litany of continuity errors continues. I suspect something’s not quite right somewhere, not in the plot, which is clearly weak sauce, but in the mental/neurological health of the writer and incompetence of their editor if such a person exists.
