Carole Garbuny Vogel is the award-winning author of 26 nonfiction books for children and young adults. Fascinated by the power of nature, she conveys her passion for unusual geological and meteorological events in Shock Waves Through Los Angeles; The Great Midwest Flood; and Nature's Fury: Eyewitness Reports of Natural Disasters, the last of which was chosen the 2001 Boston Authors Club Book of the Year. She has also written a number of books with author Kathryn A. Goldner.
Her writing is not only devoted to nature-related subjects; her Will I Get Breast Cancer? Questions and Answers for Teenage Girls was named 1996 honor book in the science category by the Society of School Librarians. She also functioned as compiler, editor, and was a contributor in the 1994 book We Shall Not Forget: Memories of the Holocaust, a 500-page book containing 42 essays about the Holocaust.
Vogel is a member of of The Author's Guild, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and the National Writers Union.
