Small Beginnings: A Journey to the Impossible

Rate this book
Take a step forward. Enjoy the process. Dare to listen to God’s Voice and hope for the impossible.

In Small Beginnings, Sara Thurman, artist, author, and founder of a Christian business called Acts 1:8 Blessings, pens her inspiring true story of becoming an artist by pursuing God’s calling. Sara shares how her creative path intertwines with our own impossible journey by giving hope to what seems unreachable. Small Beginnings is anchored on Sara’s belief that we all have an innate ability to create and it will teach you how to discover and focus on your own gifts to build a life and work full of purpose.

This woven tapestry of devotional stories and testimonies gives light to the steps she took to reach goals beyond her wildest dreams. For more than 56 years, this former teacher and public school administrator never considered herself an artist. In fact, Sara had never taken a single art class. After believing the truth of a new identity spoken over her, she began to paint and sell her faith-based art. In two short years, she has painted and sold over 800 pieces of Christian inspired art.

Sara writes as if you two are talking in her living room or art studio. These poignant and relatable stories go beyond the art world. She will have you laughing, crying and believing you, too, can reach the impossible and be a servant of God.

"Small Beginnings" is a fabulous read! Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down. It is spiritually written and so very honest. I will read it a second time because it is full of many great nuggets of ideas to help you further your artist career or it will help you to find your purpose and passion. I felt as though the book symbolized a flower garden where Sara planted seeds for the reader from beginning to end. I highly recommend this book to all emerging and experienced artists. If you have ever hoped to become an artist, but you are blocked with fear then this book is for you. I think "Small Beginnings" is a book that can help anyone who is searching for their purpose in life. Thank You Sara Thurman for sharing the beauty of your heart and soul. You are truly an Angel!

Encouragement to All Artists (& those that think they aren't)

I had the privilege of meeting Sara at Gathering of Artisans in the fall of 2018; and I just knew in my Spirit that this meeting was a Divine appointment and that I wanted to know her better. Since then, we've kept in touch & last year, I took her 100 Days of Creating with God e-course. That course, her friendship, and this book have been invaluable in my walk with Papa God. It has given encouragement where I have doubts, it has reaffirmed what God has revealed through others in my circle, & it has given me the means to focus on the difficult, yet needed questions that clarify how to press into figuring out what God has for me in this journey called "life". You will not regret reading Sara's story, it's an incredible one & it's a good reminder to the fact that all of our stories are connected in some way.

Trust and Obedience to God Produces the Impossible!

There are not words to express how much I want to encourage you to read this book. Sara Thurman has shown what trust and obedience in God the almighty can produce in someone's life. The journey this woman of faith has been on is one I desire for myself. Not just hearing the Word of God but listening and acting on what He has led her to do. Her ministry is faith filled and prosperous to no limit, because she faithfully services a God of impossible things. ❤️
I've sent my physical copy of the book to my best long time friend, as she starts a NEW SEASON or Small Beginning in her life and I am excited to join her in reading this book. We don't get to see each other much these days but through this time I will be right there with her. God has planned this journey before the creation of time. He has put these two beautiful artists in my life and has connected us in a way I could never have imagined!
