Duncan's Pride was written by USA Today Bestselling & Multi-Award Winning Author Xyla Turner
Portia: I can handle it, I said. Duncan can handle it, I said. We can handle it, I said. Shit, we can't handle it. We said...
Duncan: Portia had this undeniable belief that the two of us having a child would be a good thing. She had no evidence to confirm these suspicions, but I had first-hand experience. Therefore, I charted what having children would mean for my mental sanity. The percentage was low. It was especially low for my wife. Also, I did not factor twins into the calculations.
-- Author's Note: This is a novella and readers should read Book 1, Trent and must read Book 2: Duncan as those characters are heavily intertwined into Duncan's Pride. Cameos by Mr. Vega and Faith, Trent and Bernie. Also, this book, specifically the Hero, is a bit different than a typical Xyla Turner book. It is IR, BWWM, and HEA, but Duncan is a different kind of perfect. I hope you give him another chance.
BONUS: Read the first two chapters of Zena Wynn's hot release, Played.
You can see more like this book with the following titles: Trent | Duncan | Mr. Vega | Declan | Carter | Across the Tracks | Take A Knee | Always Right | Cole | 10-80: Line of Duty | 10-99: Line of Duty | Extraction | Power of the Pen | By Chance, No Choice | Undertones

4.0⭐️ Portia and Duncan!!! There is so much to say, but I can’t. Suffice it to say that Duncan is at his most vulnerable self when he and Portia embark on another phase of their lives. A lot of this book had me in stitches- for example the utterly hilarious conversation Duncan had with Trent about him going to Portia’s baby shower. Just priceless.
Let me be clear that I am not in ANYWAY laughing at or making fun of Duncan’s very real disability. I just imagined certain situations in the novella that made me laugh and/or just made me feel good, such as Duncan’s repetitive recitation of the Constitution to calm Portia’s emotional outbursts and Portia’s reactions. Scenes such as this were plentiful in the novella. I never found Duncan’s meltdowns humorous at all, and I genuinely felt strong emotions about them. How Portia handled Duncan’s meltdowns, his numerous quirks and idiosyncrasies was something to behold and to greatly admire. Trent’s friendship with Duncan was so endearing; we should all have friends like him. I like that Trent and Bernadette were featured prominently in the story.
What I found most amazing is the enduring love between Portia and Duncan. I could just feel it and basked in it. Duncan and Portia are one of my all time favorite and most memorable contemporary couples.
This was a fantastic story, and I hope to see more of their lives in future books.
I absolutely loved this continuing story about Duncan and Portia. This couple just gives me all the feels and in this novella, we get to see how Duncan handles impending parenthood while also balancing that with his autism. In addition, we learn about how Portia handles all of this and she's actually pretty amazing herself. It was great to read about some of the other characters in Xyla's books as well, especially Trent and Bernie. I was happy to read this update on on these two and think Xyla is an expert at writing characters on the spectrum in the romance genre. LOVE IT! Recommended.
Duncan’s Pride was an enjoyable read. I was happy to see the follow up on this different but beautiful couple. They were a team and that’s what made their union successful through all odds
Brenie and Trent were amazing friends and they are they definition of true friendship.
It was good to see how Duncan and Portia dealt with the challenges that they were facing. Duncan was a boss through it all. I would shake my head saying "I just don't know about him" but with him, you know every time.
What a pleasant surprise! I missed Duncan so much. I just love Duncan and Trent's friendship they be having me dying laughing. I also love Duncan and Portia's relationship. They could have an entire series about them and I'd read every word. As a mother of two autistic sons I love to read about people on the spectrum. It gives me hope for my boys. Thank you Xyla Turner for another wonderful read!
5 Stars for this continuing bwwm series. Duncan and Bernie are back and we get a peek of their lives after they get together. Typically, I am good with HEA plus an epilogue but I could not put this book down. XT knows how to layout a story and draw you in all the while teaching you a little on the side. Great read!
I loved seeing Duncan and Portia and Bernadette and Trent again. I laughed so hard. I wonder how Denean’s personality would be just because her father was so extraordinarily special. He became one of my favorite original male alpha characters. Well done Ms. Turner and thank you for your gift.
I really enjoyed Duncan's story but I am partial because I love 💘Duncan. I will never get enough of him. I was glad to see 👀the others characters that I am fond of. I can't wait for James story and would recommend this book.
I'm glad to read about how their lives played out. Everyone deserves a happy ending no matter their circumstances. Great job and I applaud Ms. Turner's bravery for broucing this subject matter
I am glad that Xyla Turner loved Duncan and Portia's story as much as I do. This story of an autistic child who grew up to be a US Senator and how he finally finds someone who loves him despite of what others would see as a disability I saw as his ability to live life and to live as normal as he is capable of doing. Then not only does he marry but now they are pregnant and this story tells their story. It was a very well told story. A good read.
First, I want to say thank you. I have a high functioning 41 year old son with Asperger, he’s a engineer and Duncan’s story reminded me of when my son at the age of 23 came home for Thanksgiving break to with a young lady and introduced her as his future bride.
This has got to be a true story, if not, God has blessed you with writing skills from on high. I started reading and didn’t put it down until I finished it. You could feel the connection and the love leaping off the pages as I read the story.
I’ve read books 1 - 3 and looking forward to completing the series. I enjoy the stories immensely. I don’t want them to end. I love how the characters carry over into the next book and then you remember their story and all they went through. It adds so much to the story. I know nothing about being on the Spectrum but Duncan’s story is so appealing. He story remains consistent and yet we see him grow. Actually we see the whole family grow and it is beautiful. I found the books so entertaining I haven’t returned to watching TV (streaming).
Loved the continuation of Duncan and Portia. Don't like when stories ends abruptly and we don't get to see what happens with the HEA in some way. This was beautiful to see how they work through their challenges together because these are real life situations for people every day. Unfortunately I real life people don't take the steps needed or habe the resources to be as successful with managing their challenges with therapy as you see here
I like the idea of delving into the autistic mind. Duncan is a man and I found it intriguing to see him behaving like a man in a male/female relationship. He actually sought out Portia and told or asked her to be his wife, before really knowing her. There the fun begins. For all of these reasons I gave this read 5 stars.
I love Duncan and Portia. It was good to read about how a neurodivergent person navigates the reality of parenthood to multiple children. How do they cope? I especially love how working through strategies for Duncan helps Portia work out strategies that help her.
From my fave series. I just wish I could spend more time with them and the twins. I didn’t think I’d like this series but I love it.sure it’s steamy but Xyla makes you think. She really delves into the complexity of relationships.
I was glad to learn what happened with the twins. This was a short update to the Duncan and Portia story. It was a slight struggle for both parents as the twins got older and they both returned to work.
I simply love everything about Duncan, can you imagine a man loving his wife and children as much as this man does! For all of his issues he is exceptional. The first book was lovely and the 2nd even better.
Never have I enjoy a story like Duncan & Portia! From the beginning I was pull in and couldn’t wait to find out where their story would lead! Duncan is unlike any romance lead man but I absolutely adore him
Everything she writes is supreme and socially relevant. This one though with its autism awareness and getting to the heart of someone who lives with it and their very.loveable heart, and dreams. This is a must read.

This is my 3rd book by this author, i definitely love her writing style and development of her characters. I really appreciate her giving us a updated book on Duncan and Portia.
This was such a good follow up to Duncan and Portia's first book. I loved how the author overlapped stories and characters. We were able to see Trent, Bernie, James, Faith, and Mr Vega. I definitely recommend this one!
This was a nice follow up story. I really enjoyed Duncan the first book when he was falling in love. This was not as exciting for me but it was good to catch up with this couple.
Really enjoyed this book. Very interesting read, loved the characters certainly had me hooked. Enjoy this author's writing style, really good storytelling.
