Never Kiss the Dead

Rate this book
Two years ago, Mercy Manning was the sole survivor of a car crash that killed her parents. The officials called it a horrible accident. Mercy knew the truth. She saw the demon attack. Now 18, Mercy spends her days and nights staring at walls in Southern Psychiatric Hospital, willing the visions of all things terrible and supernatural out of her mind. When the new nurse with the beautiful dark eyes introduces himself as Sumner, Mercy thinks he’s nice enough. Until Sumner attacks. The last thing Mercy see are Sumner’s dark eyes turning red. When she wakes, another man is in her room. Someone who claims to be an angel named Ramsey. Someone or something is killing guardian angels one by one. A single angel must now protect thousands of people, and thanks to orders from his superiors and the demons’ intrigue with Mercy, Ramsey gets to protect her—constantly—much to his agitation.

Caught between a war between good and evil, will Mercy be able to fight for her life, or will the demons, including Sumner, use her very specific “gift” for their own benefit?

Kelly Martin is an author and developmental editor who lives in a possibly haunted house in a small southern town. While she'd like to say paranormal things only happen to her at her home, it would be a lie, mainly because she searches them out in some of America's most haunted locations. Whether it is talking to the ghosts of Waverly Hills or the spirits of Thomas House Hotel, these events inevitably land in some of Kelly's books. Just wait until you read The Haunting of Micah Reed.

Wow! Blew me away!

Never Kiss the Dead by Kelly Martin just blew me away! A gal that sees ghosts and demons is locked up after she watches her parents killed by a demon. She survived but considered insane due to the trauma. After two years locked up, demons and angels are both after her. She is saved from a demon by an angel. He doesn't want to guard her because angels are dying off. He wants to fight to save them. His boss has other plans. The gal has visions too.
Its an exciting, fast paced, paranormal adventure that kept me entranced! It was also a cliffhanger, ugh, so I give it 1/2 star off. I still round up to 5 stars. Can't wait to read the next book!

I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my honest review. I enjoyed it. A story about the battle between angels and demons and one woman who is caught between them. Mercy has been in a psychiatric ward for two years after her patents are killed in a car accident. She has been having nightmares and is saved by an angel, only to realise that her nightmares may have been visions. The demons want her and the angels are trying to save her. The problem is no one knows why. As Mercy watches Ramsay save other innocents, she wonders what the future holds for her. A great story that makes you wonder what is real and what is myth. Kelly Martin leaves the reader with a cliffhanger that makes you want to get the next book in the trilogy.

WOW, this story was scary and yet extremely addicting!! This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am so totally hooked!!

The characters were phenomenal. I could feel everything Mercy was feeling as I continued to read this story. I have a few unanswered questions about Sumner and Ramsey and I hope to find out in the next book.

The story-line was CREEPY!!! My spine tingled while the hair on my arms stood on end. There were times I was a bit terrified, but yet I was very intrigued and couldn't put the book down. This is for sure a great Halloween read and has made it to my top 5 spooky books for 2019!! Martin has gotten herself a new follower of her work and I highly recommend this read!!

If you’re one of those people who try to figure out the plot and who done it, than good luck figuring this book out. So many twist and turns your eyes will bulge out and then you’re flipped. Kelly Martin is amazing at throwing you off the rail. Once you think you finally understand, more questions are thrown your way leaving with the urge to read more because You. Need. To. Know!!! Then leaves you with a nasty cliffhanger, jaw dropping and yelling NOOOOO “I have to wait how long for the next book?”

I’m fortunate enough to be an ARC reader for this fantastic book. Kelly Martin never disappoints and worth. The read and wait for Never Trust a Demon.

A brilliant new series

Kelly Martin does it again a story that pulls you in and hold you from beginning to end. Ramsey has been stuck in a mental hospital for two years following the death of her parents. Not knowing that her nightmares aren't really nightmares but something more. Being attacked by a demon leads her on a journey with a very cranky Angel that Ramsey wishes she wasn't on. The truth about everything maybe more complicated.
I can't wait for the next book

Oh my gosh, what an amazing read. I love Mercy. I've never read a character quite like her. I love her snark and the way she and Ramsey feed off each other, and not always in a good way. This was my first book by Kelly Martin, and I'm now a devoted fan. Seriously, the level of genius in this book was astonishing.

I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next one. Mercy Manning learns that she can see angels and demons. What a strange thing! But the real question is who is good and who is bad. I really enjoyed this book and want to know more about the story and the characters. I really like Mercy but I am still on the fence with Ramsey and Sumner. Great book, Kelly!

Angels, demons, and Deborahs

What happens when you can't trust what you see? Mercy has been under lock and key for years when things take an incredible turn, not exactly for the best. We get small glimpses of her past as she struggles to make sense of her new reality. The antagonistic relationship between Sumner and Ramsey escalates with some interesting twists. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

Kelly Martin has done it again! This story is anything but simple Good vs. Evil. Mercy Manning is a complicated soul. Just when you think you have her story figured out and teams picked for good and evil, Martin slips in a new twist. Everyone has an agenda and no one is selflessly looking out for Mercy. Never Kiss the Dead is a twisted, thrilling tale of angels and demon and the battle for Mercy's soul and a perfect read for October!

Gripping horror that keeps you guessing

Loved this book and its plot that keeps twisting. The main character’s voice is so realistic. You find yourself rooting for her as you make discoveries along her side in a world where monsters like demons, vampires, and ghosts exist. Terrifying visions highlight the psychological horror. Let’s just say, I’m avoiding mirrors for awhile.
