***NOTE FROM AUTHOR***. This is the beginning of a new series, but it has strong ties to the characters in the Texas Knights MC series.
Kale Forrester is content with the life he has. His brothers, both from his blood family and his club family, are all he needs. Known as a ruthless man, he enjoys the solitude that reputation gives him.

When Kale's best friend Zeke finds the woman of his dreams, Kale realizes there is something missing in his life. Restless, with thoughts of a lonely future, he begins writing to a woman he has never met.

Through months of contact only through the written word, Kale exposes parts of himself that he hasn’t shown any woman before. Without ever having seen her face he realizes that she could be the one he needs to complete his life. The only one who can fight the loneliness he has imposed on himself for all these years.

Terra Sharp has been alone in a crowd for over ten years. Recently reconnected with her best friend, Terra finds hope in her future. When she’s encouraged by her friend to write letters to a complete stranger it is easy to let herself go and give him an inside look at her fears, her hopes and her dreams. She soon lives to see his writing on paper, giving her a new glimpse into his exciting and sometimes dangerous lifestyle.

Once the two meet in person, the sparks fly and neither try to fight how they feel when they are together.

Unforeseen events pull Terra farther into Kale’s world than he ever wanted her to go. After they fight to get through danger, drama and death will their bond be enough to hold them together?

Editing issues again. Kale gets a bj from a clubwhore prior to exchanging letters. He did attempt to be with another clubwhore but his mind was on the h and he didn't go through with it.

2.5 ⭐️ Too sexist, too chauvinistic, awesome humour [should have had more].

This could have easily been written 30 or so years ago, except for one detail.

There was 3 aspects to this:
- Blatant chauvinistic sexism towards women. With unashamedly sexual hypocrisy, 50’s style domestic responsibilities, and offensive enabling by other women.

- Mafia style violence, with a sociopathic indifference to it, and even psychopathic enjoyment at others [despite this being a contemporary, real world romance].

- A humorous, contemporary romance, with a sweet, passive redemption arc.

The FMC has been in prison for 10yrs, since she was 17, is a virgin with little to no real world life experience, and has never even kissed a boy before.
The MMC is a biker and cheesy womaniser, never having had a real relationship, only one night stands with the club ‘sweetbutts’, who he knows ‘aren’t the kind who can be brought home’.

They became pen pals for approx a few months before her release, with an Insta kinda love.

The first aspect I hated and ended having to skip over in order to finish. Some of the comments were straight up offensive, old fashioned, patriarchal, chauvinistic rubbish!

The second I could tolerate, and would have even enjoyed the FMC’s portion, if she hadn’t been such a pick-me, special-flake.
But truthfully, certain aspects felt overdone and trivialised for a contemporary real world fiction. Especially since we are supposed to view these people as real world anti-hero good guys.
If this had been fantasy, or OTT drama, it would have been fine, but it wasn’t presented that way…

The last part I loved, except for the lack of conflict or overall plot until around the 70% mark, which was simply and quickly resolved.
The dialogue is also awkward and uncomfortable for the first 1/3.

On top of all this, was the icky factor that this woman went from prison as a teenager, to being in a serious relationship with the first guy she’s had any kind of intimacy with, who is also a criminal, risking her freedom all over again.
This after having been a model inmate, who doesn’t ever want to go back. 🤨🤔
There’s a real power imbalance that feels off.

All up, the humour was not enough to make me want to continue this series.

I’m DNF at around 25%. This did not work for me. You might like it, but I had too many issues with it.

Kale (MC member, owns a ton of businesses) is so envious of his friend’s marriage (Zeke and Lisa) and their new baby girl. He pampers and cuddlees the baby every chance he gets, including going to see the baby every single day to feed her and love her. As far as he remembers, he’s only ever focked the sweetbutts at the clubhouse. Hit it and quit it. So his friend Lisa tells him he should become pen pals with her friend that’s still in prison. Terra (virgin) has been in prison since she was 16 for killing a serial killer that killed her entire family. So… you’re trying to tell me a jury put a 16-yo child in prison for 10 YEARS for defending herself from a serial killer that had already killed like 4 other families???? I don’t believe it. Unless it has to do with the fact that Terra is African American. But even so, I still find that a stretch.
So they start writing letters to each other. We also have to read all of those letters that talk about favorite foods and movies and all sorts of boring shit. I mean seriously, we do not need all that crap!!!

Then she confesses to him in the letters that she’s a virgin. How weird! So she’s eventually released from prison (after the WARDEN gives her a birds-n-the-bees sex talk) and he goes to pick her up. Oh – also – they have no clue what the other looks like. They agreed to not share any pictures or descriptions of each other. Really?? So he has no idea she’s black and even though it’s not a big deal to me, I would think it could be a big deal to other people. Especially considering Kale is a MC member from a small town in Texas. If you know anything about Texas, you would understand. It just seems so strange to me that they’re just going to meet up being halfway in love with each other and not know these things. I would expect her to tell him her skin color in a letter before telling him that she’s a virgin. Please understand, it’s not that I have an issue with skin color, but it goes towards the believability of the book. I don’t believe it!

Also, Kale is the biggest wiener of a MC member. He and all the other brothers in the MC sit around talking about feelings and shite. Sure – ok. There were a ton of other things I didn’t believe either, but I’ll stop here.

It sucks because the first few chapters were crazy intense with his sister getting kidnapped. I thought we were in for a bad ass biker book. I was completely disappointed.

DNF at 51%. Too soft for a MC romance for my liking. Liked the idea of the letters part but writing how they're gonna sleep together and asking each other about condoms and med exams... um NO! And they're pampering Terra and talking about waxing... um big NO. Sorry.

The beginning of the Texas Kings was great. I loved how Kale & Terra's relationship started in a very unconventional way. They were forced to learn about each other without the physical getting in the way. When they finally meet, both of them are more than surprised. Terra proves she's more than able to be a King's old lady and gets the approval of the matriarch, Martha. Which for this club is the gold seal. I loved the book from start to finish. And there was more than one instance that you'll find yourself laughing. Family, loyalty and protecting others means everything to the Kings. And they will defend it no matter what. I recommend any of Cee Bowerman's books to anyone looking for that kind of romance, specially in the MC world.

I've been waiting for this book since we met Kale in Lisa and Zeke's book in the Texas Knights. It really looked like he was going to be set up with Terra, Lisa's friend, who was getting out of prison. I really like the first part of the book where Kale and Terra exchanged letters, it allowed them to get to know each other a bit. I also loved that Kale really started to fall for Terra then. I was surprised by the help that Terra got her last month or so in prison and why, but so glad that she got the help!

I loved how everyone reacted when they met Terra when she got out of prison, Zeke's work at how she looked really sunk in, stunning everyone in a good way! From there is was all downhill for Terra. She got along with everyone, especially Kale. I really liked that the two of them kept sharing stories, especially why Terra ended up in prison, it seemed like that sealed the deal for Kale, he knew she was for him. Terra never (or hardly ever) batted an eye when things from their MC way of life came up. Instead she often was an asset they used when the bad stuff started to come at them fast.

The ending to this one had me smiling, loved that these two are living their best lives together and happy!

First 50% was really good. It went downhill in the middle (chapters about feeding pets etc just kill me- I want some excitement and drama). It picked up after this and I enjoyed the story from there on. I will say I thought it was unrealistic that Terra was a badass ninja and suddenly started killing people just like that, I know she was defending herself and the brothers but after just getting out of prison I thought this a bit far fetched, however it didn’t stop me enjoying the story in the end and going straight to Sonny’s book.

This is an MC which is a little lighter on the MC aspect and heavier in the relationship part of the story, which I enjoyed. It's nice to see a big, bad, biker man turn into a "marshmallow" for his feisty woman. We all need a Kale and we all need to act a little more mighty like Terra.

Take a ride on a safe MC series!

Whenever I try a new MC series now I’m always afraid of how it’s going to go. It’s either safe or it’s full of activities like hard drugs and other women. THIS SERIES WAS SAFE!
Some spoilerish content!
The H, Kale, does NOT cheat or touch another woman after meeting the h. After they begin writing letters, he also backs off club girls. After the h, Tera is present in the book, a club girl tries to mess with Kale, but Tera promptly handles her.
I do wish these guys would tell off the club girls in MC series though!
Kale has multiple pets and is very affectionate. He’s over 6ft and tattooed.
Tera is 6ft and African American. Originally from Alaska, but in jail for past 10 years. She is 26 at her release. Virgin.
The author handled including the letters well enough. Anymore and it would have been boring.
Tera is a total bada$$ and kicks some mean booty at times. I’d have liked for her to have even more action! But thank gosh she got time to shine at least some.
Really enjoyed the secondary characters introduced.
I’ve also read the 3rd book in this series. I did not read the 2nd book because the H was not a brother and not actually met in this book. The h for book 2 is introduced and I didn’t care for her. That’s why I didn’t pick it up. I still highly recommend this series for a fun and safe MC! Super excited for the rest of this series.

Kale Forrester character was scary but soft when he needed to be, Kale has a strong family behind him, his family by blood and his MC family mean everything to him. His crazy family maybe imperfect, but they can be imperfect together with laughs and smiles to go around. Kale is protective, deadly, funny, strong, and caring it was something else to see when his deadly side come out to play. I thought do not let that deadly side come out anymore.

Terra was full of surprises I really enjoyed reading about her and getting to know her better, she holds 2 degrees before she is released from prison. So, she is super smart, funny, and strong. She was handmade to fit kale. They are an awesome couple. I am glad Terra decided to move to Rojo, Texas.

This book had you in fits of laughter because of all the banter it had with all characters. The story line was great, I would hands down read more from this author.

Kale Forrester agreed to write letters to Terra Sharp who is about a year from coming home from prison. He doesn't expect anything from them but he knows all too well how lonely and long that can be. What he doesn't expect is for Terra to be a breath of fresh air and the letters they write to begin to take more meaning.

Terra didn't have too many plans for when she gets out of jail but the more she gets to know Kale the more they begin to talk about a future. She is not sure if it is forever or just a day but the man has quickly stolen all her thoughts and she knows she definitely wants to get to know him better. What happens though when danger comes to his MC, can Terra handle it?

This was great, I had been thinking about trying this series for awhile and it did not disappoint. Had all the things I love in a MC story-humor, interesting story, and a few surprises.

Kale King of Kings

Kale was a good story with fun, crazy, sexy characters. I enjoyed this story and I can't wait to read which brother falls next. This is the third book I have read by this author...her storytelling keeps get better at every book but the editing needs to be really looked at. I understand that mistakes happen but they shouldn't happen so frequently. I hate when a character is speaking about another character but that name is written wrong.
I enjoy reading Bowerman's stories she can write characters that a
have flaws and aren't perfect. Her stories revolve around a strong family values. Happy Reading!!

I’m really stingy with my five star reads, they have to be a Mary Poppins (practically perfect in every way), but most importantly it has to please my inner feminist, (she’s very unforgiving) which means female characters have to be really strong ( it’s ok for them to be soft just not doormats) and there has to be respect, demanded and given between characters. Terra is amazing, strong, proud and the true definition of a kick ass h. I fell for her almost as hard as Kale did. I loved Kale‘s hard and his soft but mostly his respect for the women around him.

I had such high hopes for this one. I love pen pal romances and this started off so strong.

As soon as Terra got out of jail is was just eh. I was bored. Yeah, there were a couple shootouts and she got to go all survivalist but how realistic is that? She just spent 10 years in prison and all of a sudden she can just pick up right where she left off?

Terra was also just too naive for my tastes.

This book had a lot of good humor, not something you necessarily expect from an MC book. I wouldn’t call it a completely light read, but nor was it one of the grittiest MC books I’ve read. I loved Kale. He was a really great guy and Terra was so odd and funny. I really enjoyed how they came to know each other through letters and once they got together they were a super cute couple.

❤️ ❤️ ❤️! Can true love be found between prison pen pals?

Even though this is the beginning of a series, I do NOT consider it to be a STAND-ALONE read. Cee Bowerman authors multiple series set within Rojo, Texas and they are intertwined. There is a correct reading order and it can be found on her website (ceebowermanbooks.com). These really do need to be read in that order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are multiple reoccurring characters, details that cannot be adequately recapped within the scope of another story that contributes to the story universe / world building, overlapping / concurrent timelines and overarching themes.

** There are some scenes that will be a trigger for sensitive readers. I have included examples below. Also, if you have not read the previous story in this series, the following may contain SPOILERS **

Another great story by Cee Bowerman. This features Kale and Terra, the best friend of Lisa that she was incarcerated with in Utah. Their “courtship” is definitely unique, and even more so in the MC genre. At the request of Lisa, the two of them agree to not describe themselves. Terra ends up with a nickname from Zeke based on this secrecy of “Stache” as in mustache, which he may or may not have mimed, along with a growth on her forehead about the size of a nickel. Fortunately for both Kale and Terra, neither of those things are true.

Even though this story does start before the ending of the previous story that it intertwines with, there aren’t really a lot of duplicate scenes. I loved the sense of humor woven into the story, as it had a nice sarcastic bend and some LOL moments among the violence. There are a few twists, one of which happens in the beginning that I am sure will be detailed in another story.

Another scenes of Terra with the warden and getting out of prison are heartbreaking and heartwarming. The different POVs make the story, but especially those scenes come to life. From the nerves, closure of the past, fear of the unknown, hope for the future and the potential for ❤️…

One last note before I wrap this part up … the MC genre contains several different branches from sweet to outlaw to one percenters. While the Texas Knights MC is in the middle imo, the Texas Kings MC is more of the outlaw variety. Both focus on love, brotherhood, families and support, but the Texas Kings also bring vengeance to the table.

⛔️ The series contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, spanking for pleasure and punishment, restraints, “bottom” play, breath play, sensory deprivation, voyeurism, exhibitionism, etc.; violence such as kidnapping, abduction, murder, death, torture, assault, fighting, betrayal, coercion, blackmail, rape, attempted rape, threats, subterfuge, money laundering, cheating, prostitution, human trafficking, mafia / cartels, arson, drug use, drug addiction, drug manufacturing, drug distribution, as well as the mental, physical and sexual abuse of females and/or children, polygamy, etc.

** Caution: Contains scenes with reference to, or detailed graphic violence against females and children that fit into the storyline, but may be a trigger for some **

There are very few grammatical issues primarily comprised of incorrect word choice (piece iso peace), typos (att iso at) punctuation errors (extra periods, commas, extra spaces, missing quotation marks), missed words and extra inserted / repetitive words.

There is also a timeline issue in this story. After Terra and Kale have written to each other for a while, Kale loses interest in other women. When he tried to “take the edge off”, things didn’t work. This occurs shortly after they start corresponding (I would estimate 3+ months), then a little later it indicates this happened about a month before she got out of prison. I recommend that this get fixed on the next revision. As a reader, I especially dislike cheating even though some storylines call for it, and while they were not exclusive then, once he started to like her in the story and be interested in her beyond a quick bed partner, then it is imo.

I am mentioning these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.

I was excited to read this book when I saw in the blurb that Kale and Terra were writing letters to each other. I like books where we see the main characters exchange letters or text messages, bantering back and forth, getting to know each other. But I felt like the author was reluctant to fully commit to this, so although we do get some letters back and forth, they're interrupted by internal musings of the person who receives or is writing the letter, and also by some other events around them. I thought that was unnecessary. The letters could speak for themselves. Instead the flow was broken and I was disappointed.

I read this after reading books #4 and #5 in this series, and I'm giving it three stars because Kale still gets BJs from the club "sweetbutts" even after he starts writing to Terra. The book blurb makes it sound like he's tired of his lifestyle and is looking for something more meaningful and permanent, but his actions didn't support that at the beginning. Although he changes as he learns more about Terra and starts looking forward to her letters, he does still continue his usual habits and lets one of the sweetbutts try to pleasure him with her mouth. It's just that she can't because he can't get it up, because he's distracted by thoughts of Terra and he finds himself disinterested in the charms of free club p*ssy.

So right off, I'm not feeling that he's such an honorable man, not the kind of hero I'm looking for. His actions also left Terra open to bitchiness from the sweetbutts, and he did nothing to prevent it. She had to "save herself". Which, I do understand that she has to show that she's more alpha than them and establish the pecking order, but I don't have to like it. At least the OW drama was very brief, and Terra never gets jealous or insecure. Yay for a mature h!

The thing I did like was that Kale didn't allow Zeke's description of Terra's looks to deter him from forming that connection with her. But I was annoyed how the issue of what Terra looks like became a huge thing, with all the club "brothers" hazing Kale, taunting him about a woman they'd nicknamed 'Stache because Zeke had implied she had a moustache. How old are these guys, five??? Plus, it was unkind of them to name her that, and they continued to call her that even after meeting her in person and seeing that it was not true. Granted, I don't like being nicknamed, so probably that's another reason why this hit my buttons.

I also liked how Kale was so enamoured with Lisa and Zeke's little girl that he would go over to their place just to cuddle her and let her fall asleep on him during her naptime. Big, strong men being marshmallows for little babies always makes my heart melt.

Not sure how believable it is that after 10 years in prison, with no practice, Terra is still able to retain survivalist skills that she learnt when she was 16. Things like being stealthy, being able to throw a knife, being a crack shot. I did like that she's capable and competent, not the helpless damsel in distress who wrings her hands and wails when trouble comes.

Overall, this book was a bit of a hit and miss for me. And I swear, this series really has some of the ugliest covers I've ever seen. Who can even see the title of the book against that image background? Why choose that font colour? Why isn't there a cohesive theme across all the books in the series? I have no words.

Okay…anyone else think of the veggie when reading the lead male character’s name? I’m not a fan of the veggie, but I loved Kale…and it’s a sign of a good writer when the writing, the plot, the characters are so good that the reader forgets all about vegetables!

This book was an excellent read! I generally read very quickly; for this book, I slowed down so I could admire the writer’s style.

Except for a small section of the book midway, this book did not have many errors. All of the following examples occurred within a few paragraphs of each other:
“There were two large trees, and a few smaller one that looked not much bigger than saplings….” It should read “…a few smaller ones….” But I love the sentence, so descriptive, evoking just the right ambiance.
“There was a large metal piece, a sculpture of some sort, sitting in the middle….” Inanimate objects SET; animate objects (like people and other living creatures) SIT.
“…the big ones tail was wagging….” The word, one, is possessive: it should read “…the big one’s tail….”
“He put his hand out of me to go ahead of him….” I don’t know what to say about this odd sentence except that it wrenched me out of the story because it was so confusing. How does someone put his hand out of someone else?
In general, I dislike errors that interrupt the flow of a book. These errors are few and occur quite close to each other. But again, Ms. Bowerman’s writing style is so pleasing and the plot so intriguing and the characters so interesting that the errors detract little. I still don’t like errors, but I wasn’t bogged down by them.

I do not want to reveal any spoilers here. However, Ms. Bowerman is such a good writer and spins such a good tale that some pretty horrific goings on at the hands of the heroes and heroines somehow are seen as justly deserved and just fine. [go figure!] If you stand back to examine some of their deeds, you can see how badly behaved these lead characters have been. BUT. It’s virtually impossible to dislike them. I was drawn into the plot immediately and was captivated until the very last word.

I laughed. I cried. It became a part of me. Those comments are generally snide or sarcastic, but not this time. Parts of this book had me laughing out loud and a family member heard me snort more than once and even brought it to my attention. There are some funny moments: sometimes hilarious and sometimes gently humorous. There are also parts sad enough to make the reader weep. And all the while, the story unfolds in the hands of a skilled writer who is a consummate artist. Wow! She writes an amazing story.

At first, I thought this would make a good movie. I still do, but it would make a better series on Netflix, or on Amazon Prime. This book has some seriously good stuff in it. This is an absolute “Must Read.” I am looking forward to reading more of Ms. Bowerman. This is most definitely a 5-star book.

So far, I’ve read Lark, Lucky, Bird, and this book by this author and I love the way her mind works. I’m working my way through her backlist because it was just double points day on the Zon, y’all, and I bought all of the Texas Kings books. Which is saying something, because I have the attention span of a gnat on meth. I discovered that I am no longer 23 years old because I stayed up all night reading and I’m freaking exhausted. (But happy.)
This particular book did riff on the importance of family, like the others. But this book was also about the nature of justice. Pretty deep stuff hidden in a humorous, exciting story.
The Forresters and their extended family are straight-up good people, even though they carry out acts of justice and/or vengeance that could be considered morally gray. But they love with their whole hearts and take care of their own.
The humor in this book! Excellent! Normally, I’d make a witty observation at this point, but I’m too damn tired. But there were a lot of laugh-out-loud moments. And despite some pretty bad stuff happening, it’s leavened by the lighthearted approach to life, without cheapening it. There are prices to be paid, and it’s not all hookers and sunshine. There’s some mental wrangling that goes on. More than one family member has done time. And the people who hurt their family pay a price as well.
So, some spoilers:
That’s a basic summary; no major spoilers but don’t click if you want to be completely surprised.

Match Made In Heaven

If you have read the Texas Knights MC series you will have already met Kale. He is a dark, dangerous man with a hidden marshmallow side. He loves animals and babies, and they love him right back. Watching his honorary cousins Sam and Zeke fall in love has made him wonder if he could have a long term relationship like they do. Lisa, Zeke’s Old Lady, met a woman in prison, Terra. Terra protected Lisa and became like a sister. After 10 years inside, she’s finally getting out in 6 months. Lisa suggests that Kale write to Terra because she thinks they are perfect for each other.

Terra has spent her time inside well, obtaining two degrees. She also works in the office and teaches a yoga class, however her sentence was without parole, which on the good side means she can leave the state when she gets out. Lisa has invited her to come and live in her old apartment next door and as Terra has no family she jumps at the chance. To keep herself going she agrees to write to Kale.

A big chunk of this book is spent before Kale and Terra even meet. We get to read their letters to each other and it’s a great way of getting to know them both. I liked the way those letters let us see the way Kale started to change as he began to really look forward to hearing from Terra.

These two characters are well matched and I like that the book isn’t all hearts and flowers for these strong willed and ruthless individuals.

This series is much darker than the Texas Knights MC series. The members of this MC are much more ruthless and willing to maim and kill in order to right wrongs. They are a much more aggressive group of people and more of them have done time. Though this series is darker, it was by no means oppressively dark. There is still a lightness to stories and I enjoyed the added depth to the characters this darkness added.

I will definitely be reading more of this series, because I really like this new set of characters, and seeing guest appearances from the old ones too.
