Edward Meyer and his family have settled into their new lives in Miller’s Crossing, and accepted their larger role in the world they know. Sarah, Edward’s daughter, has returned from her training at the Vatican and has taken over some of the duties from her Father and Father Murray while also running a small boutique. Peace has returned to their small community, or so they thought.
Deep in the woods on the outskirts of town, lurks an Evil that threatens the lives of everyone in their town. An Evil that has laid in wait for years, and has chosen now to launch its assault. An Evil that is personal to most, and destructive to all. Can the Meyer family rise to the challenge once again and save the town, or will Evil win this round and the war?
If you enjoy dark paranormal thrillers, then you will love Book 3 of the Miller’s Crossing Series, The Demon of Miller’s Crossing.
David Clark is an author of multiple self-published horror novels and anthologies (amazon genre top 100) and can be found in 3 published horror anthologies. His writing focuses on the suspense, horror and sci-fi genres with a writing style takes a story based on reality, develops characters the reader can connect with and pull for, and then sending the reader on a roller-coaster journey the best fortune teller cannot predict. He feels his job is done if the reader either gasps, makes a verbal reaction out loud, throws the book across the room, or hopefully all three.
Edward Meyer and his family are back in this installment of life in Miller's Crossing and his daughter, Sarah is back home from her training at the Vatican. Sarah is able to help entities to cross over but there seems to be some things happening within the woods that makes the Meyer family question whether their life is truly back to being calm as they can feel the evil seeping slowly back into their town and they wonder what they will have to endure this time to finally rid the town of the evil!
Thoughts:
What is it with slow burn books lately? They must be gravitating towards my hands or something as this book seemed to not grab a hold of me like the other book I read by this author. The first book was really spooky but this one just didn't have that same feeling for me and actually was dragging in spots.
This book came close to being a dreaded dnf as I was still not feeling anything around the halfway mark but I just decided to hang in there and see if I would start having spooky feelings but though there was some ghostly happenings I feel it just wasn't enough to give this book more than three stars. So with all that being said I might continue on with this series at some point as I own some more books in this series but it will be awhile before I step back into it. Giving this book three "No Spooky Feelings For Me" stars!
I would have given this 4 stars for the build-up, even with the cliffhanger ending, but the technical mistakes dropped it to a solid 3.5. Commas are all over the place. Missing or incorrect words create a break in the flow of the story that, for me, was distracting. Please, please find a good proof-reader. If you can't find one, I'd be happy to help. I do like the author's third-person writing style and prefer it to the first-person POV that seems so popular. It was easy to keep track of the overall story line without all the switching between characters' perspectives.
This is the third story of the supernatural happenings in Miller's Crossing. Events are moving along rapidly with Sarah now participating in moving spirits along and Jacob showing signs of having the same ability. Something is amiss in the woods - a hum that blocks Edward's abilities, mysterious injuries to Sarah's boyfriend that he cannot recall happening, animals banding together to defend something evil. Evil makes its move and strikes the Meyer family hard.
I read this as part of the 4-book collection so the whole story had more of a consistent flow. This installment builds the relationships between the primary and secondary characters and ends with a major cliffhanger. I would not read this as a stand-alone.
The Demon of Miller’s Crossing, the third novel in the series, is a fast-paced paranormal thriller. It is the calm before the storm in this latest story from David Clark. The evil has awoken, and the destruction awaiting Miller’s Crossing has come in an unexpected form. As much as I do not like cliffhangers, and this book finished with a doozy, it just makes you want more of this tale of good versus evil. I am looking forward to the next chapter in this gripping series. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
This is not a normal town and these are not normal people but I hate the choice of the person the demon chose to use. It’s unusual enough to keep my interest but you can tell the book was written in haste, not carefully reread and edited and that takes away from the story for me. There were missing words I had to fill in or guess at. I knew Sarah was the chosen before it happened and wondered why no one else picked up on strange behavior.
This was an absolutely amazing read. The characters are well fleshed out and love reading about them and their journey. The plot and story line is suspenseful and kept me gripped from the start. Thrilling from the very start and a wonderful continuation of the series! Highly recommended!
I received a complimentary advanced copy and this is my honest voluntary review.
Terrifying events take place in Miller's Crossing. Edward and his team are up against a great evil. The town has been infested. David Clark has given a scenic description of the atmosphere of evil in this book. The ending is surprising. Looking forward to the next book.
Absolutely riveting! Non-stop action page turning terror
Great follow up story. Something creepy in the woods causing destruction and making the animals act strangely. Never saw the ending coming! Can't wait to read the next book
I enjoyed this book. The horror was a slow build up of what is unknown rather than being a gore fest kind of story. I wound up with more questions about Miller's Crossing than I had to start. I am eager to continue the series in search of answers.
To be honest, I was a bit disappointed in this. Not so much the book itself - I suppose it is a good demon/devil v good and light story, but I was set to read a series when I read the prologue. I was disappointed to find that it was actually only one book. If you're ok with that, it's fine
Really enjoyed reading this great book and look forward to reading the next in this series and highly recommend that you do as well. Onto the next book.
The storyline is great and kinda spooky. I felt like the author dragged out the story too much. But still a great read. Will be starting 3rd book in the series today.
