BREAKOUT is book 1 of the King Brothers Rockstar romance series.
No musicians (or lead singers) were harmed during the making of this book!
Toni Kenyon lives in Auckland with her husband (and their dog and cat) the goldfish is just squatting! She writes romance by day, sings in a band by night and in her spare (yeah, right) time she wrangles difficult heroes into line, so they can star in her next novel. Toni also loves the garden and has a special place in her heart for her fruit trees and her veggie patch. A keen amateur photographer, Toni posts “Mood of the Suburbs” shots across most of her social media profiles. She loves to hear from like-minded people, so pop on over and say 'Hi' any time. Visit her website and sign up for her newsletter so you can stay informed about her new releases.
We start with band geek Dylan who is a punching bag to the jock guys in school but Dylan has plans…big plans. He’s going to be a rock star. Marty is Dylan’s best friend and he’s going along for the ride. Dylan is the singer and Marty write some amazing music so together they are going on this ride together. With Dylan’s determination and talent they are bound to make it. The only thing giving Dylan second thoughts is Destiny. Once they realize the sexual pull they have towards one another Destiny decides she doesn’t want to stand in Dylan’s way.
This is a great start to this series. It’s very well written and pulls you in to everyone’s lives and had me turning pages as fast as possible. It’s taking you on one wild from Yellow Lady’s very beginning. I just can’t wait to see where this goes.
This is a great start for the first book in this series. It centers around Dylan with his best friend Marty and his dream of becoming a musician. And also his girl Destiny, that he has known most of his life and how they fit together and whether they can stay the course. Their story does not end in this book. I can not wait for the next one, and to see what happens with the rest of the guys in the band. I love that it starts at the beginning of their journey. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
Dylan has dreamed of making it big in music. In this first book of the series, we see how he began to make it happen. How he and his best friend Marty meet the rest of their band. During this beginning stages of his journey Dylan builds feelings for Destiny, the girl from home that has won his heart. As this book ends, Destiny and Dylan have a serious talk about their future. So much emotion in this story I felt like I was part of their story. Looking forward to more books in this series as I am anxious to see what happens next.
Destiny has a crush on Dylan for a while. But Dylan just dropped out of school to follow his dream to become a rockstar. He band is very successful and then comes a tour on the road. Destiny knows she isn't cable of sharing him with the rest of the world and she knows she has to let him go even if it will break her heart. A very emotional book about making the right choice and follow your heart. I loved it and can't wait to read more
Not very realistic. Everything falls into place far too easily for Dylan. The only issues he seems to have come from his shallow relationship with Destiny. We’re told Dylan and Destiny have a strong connection, but I do not really see it. The novel ends abruptly with zero resolutions. I see there are two other books in the series from the perspective of some of the other guys in the band. And apparently the series hasn’t had any new additions since 2019. Am I missing something?
Toni Kenyon’s Breakout: The King Brothers Rockstar Romance is a great story about the sacrifices made in the name of true love, and the mistakes made too, all in the context of risks and successes of new rockstar fame. It’s powerful leads, Destiny and Dylan, and strong supporting cast are well-crafted as is this novel itself. Is also loads of fun and a great start to what looks like a great story arc. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
I love rock star books, and this one, the first in a new series, caught my eyes. I enjoyed it a lot, even if it did have the feel of a prequel, and a setup for the series to follow. It followed Dylan and his best friend, Marty, as they leave school and try to make it as musicians, ending when they are on the verge of a big breakthrough. The secondary characters are well rounded and interesting, and I'm looking forward to reading the next in series :)
Awesome book. He just turned 18, and I he has decided to quit school and pursue his dream of music. He and his friend is going to make it. They meet this man who is putting a group together. She is in love with him n he loves her but it is not wrote in stone. It will make you want more and sees what happened next
