I read this book based on a review and also because it has a somewhat local setting. A debut novel for the author who spend some time in the area.
This mystery is set in contemporary times. The murder of a black, homosexual, artist and businessman, is discovered by the titled Lovestruck Detective. The plot sets up conflicts: rich vs. poor, urban vs. rural, locals vs. outsiders, environmentalists vs. developers, and conservative vs. liberal. The characters weren't well developed and that made for a disappointing narrative. No plot twist for me in figuring out who the bad guys were rather early on. I would not recommend this novel.

Quick read of a small town bigoted ideas and characters. It didn't seem as if all the strings were tied up at the end. I still have questions.

An interesting read. Not a typical mystery story, but entertaining all the same.
