About the author

Kela Marchi Calvin was born in Petersburg, Virginia to her parents Deljuan and Debra Calvin. She was raised in Hopewell, Virginia along with her younger brother and sister. Kela knew that she had a knack for writing in the seventh grade when she created a book for a class assignment. The book was entitled The Attack of the Feet Monster. Ultimately she received the best grade in the class. The teacher was so impressed with the story that she had Kela to read the book for the entire class. Living Proof is her first published novel. She also writes poetry and has engaged in poetry readings in her community. She aims to motivate and inspire others through the art of storytelling.
