Arwen Sullyvan is a real nightmare. Callous. Cold. Calculating. And the first girl I ever loved. She’s the bad girl of Westbrook High, and I’m their precious golden boy.
For years, she’s delighted in punishing me. All because I’d fallen for her. And, like a fool, I still want her.
Then a drunken confession slipped through those plump lips, and I saw fear swirling in her stormy eyes.
Aidan Shaw is the bane of my existence. Charming. Gorgeous. Noble. He’s everything I never knew I wanted, and it scares the hell out of me. I’ve tried to keep my distance and bury those feelings.
But one stupid mistake—one moment of weakness in the face of temptation—was all it took to turn our flame into a fire.
He’s intent on loving me, but not even his golden touch can change my black heart. He thinks he can break me. But a savage can’t be tamed.
3.75 stars The Bad Girl by AD McCammon was a good ex-best friends now enemies to lovers romance, but there was a bit too much push and pull at times. Arwen is an outcast at Westbrook High, and people either hate her or fear her. She doesn't fit in and doesn't try to. When she first moved to town, her one and only friend, her best friend, was Aidan, the town's golden boy and football star. They were inseparable the summer before 8th grade and quickly became close. But when Arwen was seen as the outcast and outsider, people bullied her for being Aidan's friend and she quickly distanced herself from him. Fast forward to the summer before their senior year in high school, Aidan is done allowing Arwen to torment and bully him. Despite all her meanness, he still likes her and has always wanted to be with her. Something starts to change between Arwen and Aidan, and Aidan is going to continue to push for a relationship with Arwen. This is book 2 in the Westbrook Three series, and I felt as though I should've read book 1, despite this being a standalone. The timeline for both books is the same, and I was getting the rundown of the first couple's relationship at the same time as getting the setup for the third couple's relationship, which felt to be too much to take in. There were also massive spoilers about book 1 in this book. I really loved Aidan, he was truly the golden boy and was committed to having a relationship with Arwen. He never swayed in his love for her. Arwen was an interesting character, and I liked how independent she was. She was also bi, I believe, and only liked girls before she started to like Aidan as more than a friend. I do not know how well this part of her character was written and developed, as I have never gone through this situation. I don't know if this representation of someone who likes both genders was accurate. It was certainly interesting to read about, having not read many books with girls who are bi. I thought the book was well written and there were so many cute scenes between Aidan and Arwen. There were also many steamy scenes between them. I liked the chapters in the past, when they were 13, as well, and it added to the connection they had. I had an issue with just how wishy-washy Arwen was. She made Aidan put up with so much sh*t and I felt bad for him. But I also felt bad for Arwen and her total lack of self-confidence in being with him. I think there just one too many scenes with her pushing him away deliberately. Aidan had a strained relationship with his father that was part of the conflict throughout the book, and I felt like it died off only to be resolved at the very end. This is super random, but I really didn't understand Arwen and Cole (one of her best friend's and part of the Westbrook Three) love for Violet. They were best friends with Thatcher first, only to be all over Violet and I felt weird with that whole situation. I really liked Violet, but it felt odd that they were more protective of her and worried about her and losing their friend than they were about Thatcher. Just a random side thought. Overall, I definitely enjoyed this book and I read it fairly quickly. I am excited for Cole's story. 3.75 stars
I was juggling with 3or 4s but then I felt it wouldn't be fair to Adien. He deserves all the stars in the world. I don't dare to take the stars away from him. Never!!
“You’re so perfect it’s sickening,” she grumbles, pressing her lips to hold back her smile . And I was nodding my head the whole time
This is the 2nd book in this awesome series and is Arwen and Aiden’s story. This is a unique tale as Arwen is the tough, stubborn, and misunderstood bad girl at Westbrook High, while Aiden is a good boy who befriended her at 13-years, loved her and lost everything. These two are total opposites, and try to stay clear from each other, yet the chemistry between them is explosive. This is a well written story which if filled with realistic and engaging characters, witty and sarcastic banter, emotion, and love. I cannot wait to read the 3rd book in this amazing series and I highly recommend for all readers.
The h is bisexual. She lusted after the heroine in book 1, and the H also tried to date the h in book 1. Apparently the h stole 3 girls he was interested in…🙄 This isn’t my jam, I don’t want to see the H getting his dicked sucked by a guy and I don’t want to see a bisexual h in a straight romance.
I should’ve read the reviews, and I wish the author had put a LGBT tag on this book. I read the first chapter and skimmed some before DNF.
Safety spoiler
This book had a; F/M/F ménage scene. Descriptive. Cheating: The bi h had sex with another girl less than a week after having sex with the H. They weren’t together, but in my romance books I call this cheating. This is when I DNF.
This book had me invested from the very first page.
I liked these characters in When the Saint Falls but fell in love with them in The Bad Girl.
Arwen and Aidan are raw and tangible, and their chemistry is on fire.
A.D.McCammon was able to convey the struggles people face when it comes to their sexuality and the preconceived notions of who we should allow ourselves to love.
This way surpassed my expectations, with a powerful message which shone through and resonated with me.
I cannot wait to read Cole’s book. It will be the final piece of the puzzle, and the wait will be worth it.
“I can’t stand you.” My heart warms in my chest as I lean in to give her a quick kiss. “I love you too, Star.”
This book was so entertaining the easy banter between the two main characters was everything!!!! Arwen stole the show this book was hers such an interesting complex character to read about, loved how unapologetic her she was and her relationship with her friends and family. Even tho this book gives you the enemies to lovers vibe is so much more, the characters used to be really good friends but the lines started to blur so arwen decided to push him back and start stealing his girlfriend...I mean who can blame them she is arwen at this end of the day.
The whole I have feelings for you, no I don't, maybe I do, maybe I don't thing was a little bit tiring not gonna lie it just felt weird to me since our heroine knew what kind of boy she was about to date she knew how much he loved her. Anyways still a great read and I enjoyed the side characters so so much can't wait for their books especially Cole's !!!!
I imagine many would describe Arwen as a “nasty woman”. Wasn’t that a thing a while back? She’s guarded and harsh but we all have our reasons for how we act, don’t we? I enjoy complex characters with realistic and complex emotions. If a man acted the same way, he’d probably be praised for it. *shrugs* I enjoyed a lead bisexual character as well. Much is at stake when you write one. There are a lot of opinions about bisexuality in general so you’re sure to displease someone but I think it was written well and fit the story!
A.D. McCammon delivered big on this one! Arwen and Aiden are fire. I already knew these characters from When The Saint Falls so I was very excited to dig deeper into their lives and figure them out. I absolutely love how fitting this title is for Arwen and the refreshing vibe I got from reading about a bad girl/good guy versus the more common bad boy/good girl storyline. I could read theses Westbrook characters forever but I know I get just one more. That said, I can't wait for The Princess and the Jester!
Oh my goodness!!! What an amazing book! I loved Arwen so much, she is someone I can definitely relate to. The chemistry her and Aidan had was out of this world. I couldn't get enough of this book!
I love Violet and Thatcher so much that I wasn’t sure if Arwen’s book could possibly be as good. How happy am I that it was! I loved reading all about Arwen and Aidan and their story was so much fun. I couldn’t put it down once I started. And the best part were all the cameos of Violet, Thatcher and Cole. I can’t wait for book 3!!
This is the second book in this series. I haven't read the first one there were some references to what happened in the first book but I wasn't lost in this story. This is a best friend's turn enemies turn lovers story. Arwen and Aiden's story was cute and entertaining. Loved the banter between these two. I loved how the story went back to how they met and what happened that made go their separate ways. Now I need to go read Thatcher's story and can't wait for Cole's story. I won an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.
I love Arwen and Aidan so much it hurts. The chemistry they have together almost caught me on fire and that 's saying something. Arwen is the bad girl with a hard exterior and even harder image but everything isn't always what meets the eye. Aidan fell in love with her a long time ago and now has to fight for that love.
I'm so happy this bully was a switch from the norm. I'm tired of the guys always being the bully's and still getting their redemption. It's time someone made the girl the 'bully' and McCammon pulled it off without a hitch!
I loved Arwen in the first book. He reputation for a bad girl and seemingly tough exterior was quite appealing. Reading her story was a bit different for me. To realize she isn’t as tough as she was made to seem and to suffer from the same thing that ails most of us in school was enlightening. Her relationship with Aiden was definitely a wild ride. There were a few things I didn’t care for. One was the relationship her dad had, it seems to progress rapidly by the end they were getting married but they only really go together In This book. The other stuff would give to much away. Arwen’s friendships are awesome, it people like her who are the glue that keeps everyone together.
Wow, this book was really enjoyable! I had not read AD McCammon before but was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked not only the story, but also the characters! I liked that this wasn't norm and the "bad person" in this book was our leading lady- Arwen. She is strong and I REALLY liked everything about her!
All in all this was a book that was enjoyable to read and the chemistry between the characters will keep you engaged throughout the entire thing! I give it 4 out of 5 stars and will totally be on the lookout for more from the author.
PS: Thank you to AD McCammon and Enticing Journey Book Promotions for providing me with an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!
So good! I loved Violet and Thatcher so much, I couldn't wait to read this. Arwen, and Aiden are meant to be together, yet, they are not. This book has so much to offer the reader. The characters leap off the page and become real. It's a world that I fully immersed myself in. Told in dual pov, it really helps set the tone for the book, and doesn't leave you hanging in what the other character is thinking.
Arwen is tough as nails, or is she? I absolutely loved her in the first book in this series, I couldn't wait to read hers. She is naughty, naughty, and I loved it. It took a while for me to warm to Aiden, but it's fine, sometimes it just takes a bit. I think Arwen was so misunderstood, and I am glad we have this book to prove otherwise. Cannot wait for the next book.
Awesome Book This book was definitely worth the read. I was absolutely hooked from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for the next book.
I absolutely loved this book!! Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of the “alpha, bad boy,” but there’s also a special place in my heart for these types of heroes. The ones like Aidan... he has his sights set on one girl, and no one else will do. I loved Arwen’s feisty spirit, but appreciate the heart of gold and vulnerability she was hiding underneath that tough exterior. And Aidan? Omg! How can you not love that boy?! It’s not everyday I read a book like this, where there’s a real reversal of roles - it was so refreshing and really made it stand out in the best possible way. Highly recommend!
Arwen hates Aiden. He was her first friend , she his first love and then it all changed. Loved how this played out and how we get to learn about Arwen, the real Arwen and how she became the hardball of hotness she is. Loved how Aiden played all her games and won a couple !. Need to read Coles now !
“You keep running from love, and I keep chasing you. But I’m getting a little tired of trying to catch someone who doesn’t want to be caught. Whenever you’re ready to stand still, come and find me.” -Aiden
Aiden best boy >>>>>>>> I love their tension and banter. But the plot keep being repetitive. Arwen was to afraid to fight for their love despite Aiden reassurance on their relationship and it annoying. I just feel Aiden deserve better.
Book two in the Westbrook Three series follows Arwen and Aiden. When she was new in in town, shortly after loosing her mother, Arwen meets Aiden. And he becomes her only friend. But he develops feeling for and and she going running. Purposely being mean to him over the years. And then, she drunkenly admits something, and Aiden knows he wants her back. But Arwen fights the feelings she has, because they are too different. They could never be together, he’s the star football player everyone loves, and she’s the bad girl, everyone is afraid of.
This was an absolutely incredible story. I loved reading about Aiden and Arwen. They are both such amazing characters, both are strong. Arwen shows one side to the rest of the world, but she still worries about what people think. She’s fiercely protective of her friends. And Aiden and a genuinely nice guy. And only wants someone to see him for him, not his talents on the football field, or his last name. The writing of this book was wonderful. The author really knows how to tell a story. I was instantly drawn into the lives of these characters. And once I started reading I didn’t want to put it down. I wanted to see if they could work out their differences and be happy together. The only problem I have with this book, is it made me impatient for Cole and Gwens story, and it can’t come out fast enough. I definitely recommend this book, and series. And I have definitely become a major fan of this author.
I cared so deeply for the characters that at times I wanted to scream out loud when reading this so they would live happily ever after. Thankfully it did not disappoint.
Amber Amber Amber…… why must you always do this to me? Make me fall in love with people that don’t exist. 😭
Arwen is me, I am Arwen, and you can’t tell me otherwise 😂 She is one of the bestttttttttt MC’s I have ever read. The pain she went through and the heart she keeps guarded were so consuming as a reader I just did not want this to end.
I love Aiden. WHAT AN AMAZING MAN. But back to our girl Arwen…. This girl needed the patient and loving hand that Aiden offered her and I’m so glad I got to watch her take it.
I loved the fact that Amber took the HS bully trope and flipped it on its head. Showing that women can be strong, powerful, forces of nature just like boys.
This book is sexy and spicy, but more importantly NO ONE does tension like A.D. McCammon. Her way for making you swoon like a teenager is unmatched.
Amber has become a auto buy author for me, and I DO NOT say that lightly. It takes a lot for me to just buy whatever anyone puts out, but she did it. 💕
I loved this story and it's my first from a new to me Arthur and I have to say when I read the blurb about these 2 character's Arwen and Aiden I knew I had to get my hand's on this book. I was hooked the minute I started reading and didn't want to put it down. This arthur brought these character's to life with their silly bantering of your not my friend anymore, but I love you Star which was Aidens name for Arwen which she hated, but secretly loved. She couldn't make her mind up and kept Aiden at arms length, but eventually he wears her down and does she give into her feelings for him or not you'll just have one click and find out and enjoy. These side character's in here were a blast to read about and I'm looking forward to their own book's especially Cole's.
I enjoyed The Bad Girl by A.D. McCammon. Arwen met Aidan when she had nobody, and he filled a void that had been empty for some time. At thirteen, they spent there summer enjoying life, but the moment feelings became involved, Arwen ran. Using cruelty to keep Aidan at arm's length, they went years hating one another. But what happens when an unexpected trip happens, and feeling resurface? I loved the storyline of this book. The Bad Girl is a bully romance that heavily focuses on inner fears and stunted emotions. One thing this book teaches readers is that the opinions of others shouldn't dictate how you live and who you love, which I think is essential in today's society. I highly recommend this book.
*I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy.
I LOVED how A.D. McCammon switched things around with a female making a male's life miserable in High School since I don't believe I've ever seen that in any of my books so YAY! Arwen & Aidan were friends when they were younger, but there came a point in time when she decided to make his life a living hell when he fell for her. He's the golden boy while she's the bad girl of Westbrook High, but with bullies, there tends to be more than meets the eye more often than not. They try to keep away from each other, but when they do come face to face, you can feel the sparks shooting off from their explosive chemistry which really added to everything. So, how will this all play out?! Well, you have to hit those one click buttons to find out & you really want to know. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Great story with interesting characters! I have not read the first book and even though I had no problem following Arwen and Aiden's story, there was so much reference to Thatcher and Violet that I had no clue what was really going on with those two. Because of that I seriously need to go back and read book 1!
The Bad Girl is book two in the Westbrook Three series.
I have to admit, I really liked this book from the very first chapter. I was completely intrigued by the relationship between Arwen and Aiden and this all started in the first book when we discovered there was issues between them and that Arwen was stealing all of Aiden's girlfriends.
The main thing that I liked most, was that Arwen was not your typical FMC that you expect in the enemies/lovers, high school bully romance. Usually the guy is the bully/Alpha and the girl is the poor unsuspecting victim. This book is completely different. The roles are completely reversed. Aiden is the towns golden boy who everyone loves and Arwen is the tough, confident, bad girl who believes that she will ruin him. What also makes this story different, is that Arwen prefers women. She struggles with the feelings she has for Aiden purely because he is a guy.
Told in dual POV and we also got flashbacks to years earlier to help set the story, it was a story that had me 100% invested. I have to admit though that Arwen's character did start to really frustrate me towards the end. Aiden was gorgeous. He was such a loveable character, but the way he let Arwen treat him was almost too much at times. I sometimes wanted to slap him and tell him to grow some balls lol He let her walk all over him a few too many times. But apart from that, their relationship was so special. I loved seeing how their friendship blossomed but it also broke my heart to see it dissolve because Arwen was scared.
I will say, that ending was pretty effing cute though!! It was an ending that left a huge smile on my face and I felt completely content. I am totally curious about Cole and Gwen though! I cannot wait for their book to find out what on earth is happening there!
