Sharing is caring, so Qadira didn’t understand why her sister Phoenix had such a problem when she wanted to share her man. He was everything. Handsome, with charisma, and savage. The ideal being to rule the Kingdom of Ọlọrun by her side. She was willing to do anything to get his attention, and that could cause problems within her family, and the Kingdom.
Napoleon loved Qadira from the first moment that he laid eyes on her, and felt the need to protect her. He didn’t see her as the vicious, spoiled, selfish Goddess-in-Training (GIT) that her reputation pegged her as. But when he found out that his best friend, Charm, had her attention, he stepped back, out of respect. But when the opportunity presented itself, he leapt at the opportunity to show her that he was the man for her. Even if only in her dreams.
Sometimes, the love we want isn’t the love we need. While Qadira has her eyes on Charm, Napoleon is the one who can truly care for her heart. But will Qadira see that he’s her real Prince Charming? Or will her reckless, thirsty actions cost her true love, and destroy her family.
Qadira was definitely a handful and deserved everything Charm threw at her because she felt whatever she wanted to have she could. Wadjet knew firsthand what it was like for one to dictate her life so I don't know why she'd do the same to her children. Just because she didn't get a chance at her happily ever after doesn't mean she should've stood in their way, at least not Phoenix's. I didn't read black girl magic but I would love to know what all happened because of the actions of Qadira. Charm handled the situation as he saw fit and Qadira needed something that would humble her. Phoenix and Charm both said some hurtful things but the heart definitely wants what it wants regardless of what spells are cast. Blair was a trip for sure. Napo questioning Charm had me side-eyeing him since he's been covering for Qadira and knew what she was capable of. It took me a little while to get into the book but it wasn't bad.
The 3 sistars, Qadira, Phoenix and Whil have their whole lives planned out before they were born. Their Iya had a lot of secrets. Secrets that could help explain exactly where each sistar came from. Qadira is a selfish succubus, only wanting to feed her desires, no matter how much it may hurt her older sistar Phoenix. Phoenix is the oldest, and has so much power in her, she doesn't want to disappoint her mother. Whil is the youngest and the most intuitive. She just wants to keep the peace. Charm and Napo are the lucky, or unlucky, ones to capture the attention of the sistars. The conflict in the lives of this family was plenty. Qadira was unapologetic, I liked her
Joi Miner does not disappoint. I typically do not read paranormal, but after reading a sneak peek from this fabulous author I had to indulge. Storyline was very well crafted with enticing character development. I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend this five star read. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
