Saylor single-handedly saved the world from a devastating solar flare...and it nearly killed her. Now her father's Alliance Military Guard must track down pirated tech, missing ships, and a rogue billionaire, and they’ve requested a reluctant Saylor’s help.
Tucker spent a year training the rookie Guardsmen. They call themselves Dragons. He calls them defiant. Dispatched across the ocean on a mission to retrieve AMG's bootlegged tech, he rallies Saylor to overcome her fears and return to the field by his side.
Working together wielding unprecedented tech and determined to defy their destinies, the two wrangle missing ghosts, brunt force betrayal, and the swagger of power. What lies beneath the earth just might save it.
Standing on top of the world changes a person. So does dying.
Fierce in a sparkly kind of way, Kadee Carder brings hope, adventure, and thrill wherever she writes. The goal is magic, the medium is ink, and the fuel is coffee. And sometimes pizza. I teach writing on the university level when I'm not dancing around the living room with my family, lifting heavy at the gym, traveling the planet (on foot or Google maps), or bingeing superhero shows.
The INSURRECTION trilogy, HERE BE DRAGONS, KINGDOM COME, IGNITE, and soon-to-be-released EARTHSHINE roll out perilous motives, twisty plots, and daring protagonists. Grab some real estate and your copy of her latest book, and follow along on social media.
Saylor continues to recover from her last save-the-world adventure. It was a long journey and she’s not sure she’s ready for combat duty. Not yet. But when Tucker, the love of her life, mentions a secret mission that will take him and the troop away for a long period of time, Saylor is slowly convinced to take a leap of faith and return to duty. She still has a long way to go to regain her strength, her stamina and her control of the nanos in her blood, those super-powered computer bits that make her superhuman. But she’s not a quitter. Even when she confronts a stronger, more fit mirror image of herself, she doesn’t back down. And when faced with the possibility of immortality in a world beyond the stars, she still doesn’t cave. She’s smart. She realizes immediately that immortality is only another way of describing a creature who is not real, a creature who is merely a robot.
“Earthshine” is Kadee Carder’s fourth book in the Saylor adventures. The title is apropos; it is a beacon of light and hope. And the adventure within is to be expected. Saylor is a beacon of light and hope as is the device they seek to conquer, and either control or destroy. Told through riveting dialogue and narrative, the plot thickens through conflict and comradeship, and the undying power of dedication and daring situations that would be unbelievable if they weren’t so cleverly presented. From the home base to the ship to the seemingly deserted hotel on an isolated island, the settings are both real and surreal, as the adventure powerfully unravels. Compelling plot, believable and loveable protagonists, believable and dislikeable antagonists, the reader is hooked from the first page and those who love the earlier Saylor adventures won’t be disappointed. But, I guess there’s another story coming? Doesn’t Saylor have to save the world again?

The fourth book in Saylor's story (5th book in this world) does not disappoint! From the fast paced twisty plot, to amazing new tech (and some old) that the characters get to use and fight, to the sweet swoony moments with my favorite Australian, this book brought it all. I absolutely love the character growth Saylor under-goes and that we as the reader get to come along as she literally picks herself up off the ground again and again. The setting also makes the book, from a military ship, to a remote island, to a mystery location that you will just have to read the book to find out about, but it is definitely my favorite.
If you love a YA sci-fi, then first go read and ENJOY the first four and then pick this amazing ride up! I promise you won't be disappointed.
Lastly, if you are a fan of bananas and more than that bananas on shirts...then you will get a kick out of a running joke in this book.
