A stenographer?

Who performs ultrasounds with a stenography machine ? WHAT ??? Omg I had to laugh at that ridiculousness. Good gracious, in this instance, I fully support a google search for an author. As per the usual, the story lacks real substance and world building. The miscommunications seems immature and just dumb. There really isn’t anything special about the characters, they’re fairly one dimensional. I honestly would not waste my time with these books.

The typos in the blurb were a bad omen, and the intrigue turned out to be a clichéd calamity.
Total waste of time. I should have known better than to expect a masterpiece, or anything above average, from those "fertile" authors who write about barren omegas!
Definitely the last time I read a book from this author!

This is a nice addition to the Timberwood Cove series. While I didn't love it as much as I did Homerun Daddy, I did enjoy it. I liked Linc and Shawn, though I felt that the 'misunderstanding' lasted a bit too long. The stars of this book for me were the kids, Liam and Cole. They had me cracking up more often than not. I love a book with kids in it anyway, but these guys were hilarious.

As far as fated mate shifter romances go, this isn’t too bad. Nothing overly special, but I had a good time. This is the second book in the Timberwood Cove series, and we’ve already met Lincoln before. Both he and his eight-year-old son Cole are back in this book, which picks up more or less where the last book left off. Linc is an alpha wolf shifter who has been waiting a long time for his fated mate. He and his son’s mother parted on good terms years before, and he hasn’t been with anyone else since. Enter Shawn, a human omega and labour and delivery nurse at the local hospital. They meet by chance while Linc is visiting Bryce and Jaxon (from Book 1) after the birth of their daughter. It doesn’t take long for Linc to realize who Shawn is to him, but that doesn’t necessarily make wooing him any easier. Shawn has no idea that shifters exist, and on top of that he has emotional scars from a previous relationship gone bad that are hard to overcome. One good thing in this book was that Linc told Shawn about shifters and fated mates pretty early on in their relationship, removing any need for lies and secrecy. But then the main conflict then becomes that Shawn believes that he is infertile and that makes it hard for him to believe that he’s worthy of any alpha, never mind Linc. Of course, Shawn gets pregnant the first time he and Linc have sex, which leads me to question the whole infertility business (and really, the whole background for that was pretty suspect anyway). Though I suppose the issue is less about the infertility itself, and on how believing he was infertile did a number on Shawn’s psyche. Seriously, dude has some stuff to work through. But he and Linc do try to work through it and come out stronger together on the other side, though it’s obviously not easy. I liked Linc and Shawn together, and fated mate nonsense aside, I enjoyed their relationship. But something I enjoyed maybe a bit more was just the dynamic that the different characters had with each other, especially Cole and his best friend Liam. They read pretty accurately like rowdy, ridiculous eight-year-old boys and they really were just a delight. Loved all their scenes. And I loved how Cole’s relationship with Shawn developed. They’re both sweet. Also Shawn’s dog Lulu was also a delight. There was a lot to like here. Sometimes both Linc and Shawn’s different anxieties could get a bit much, and I think the plotline about Shawn’s perceived infertility could’ve been explored a bit more, but overall I did enjoy this and look forward to future series installments.

The writing was great, as per usual for Liam Kingsley. This one had some unexpected humor that I really enjoyed: I loved the moment where Linc briefly considered disowning his own son for interrupting him from flirting with Shawn when they first met. Linc's son, Cole, was pretty funny and he was so fucking sweet for wanting a sibling so bad. My favorite moment of Cole's is when he shouted "I love you!" at the baby through Shawn's stomach.

Linc and Shawn were just ok; they were a little bland to me. I was annoyed with Shawn's character when he got irrationally upset at something Linc said that was actually pretty sweet. I feel like LK could've come up with a better conflict for the characters to go through than that. If LK had followed up on that super random sighting of Phillip, Shawn's ex, that could've been so much juicier and would have plumped up the story more. For a relationship that had such a negative, lasting impact on Shawn's emotional and mental well-being, there was zero closure and it was not addressed when the perfect opportunity to do so was created.

That whole scenario is my only complaint about the book. I've been reading this series out of order but I'm almost done; I wish there were more!

Fear of Abandonment

Being tossed aside by your Alpha is heartbreaking, especially when the reason is because you could not conceive. Despite how much you wanted him and the baby. How you'd anticipated a life together then suddenly the Alpha was gone. Trust becomes a thing of the past. Luckily this Human Omega has a busy fulfilling life as ironically an OB-GYN Nurse. He gets to observe the miracle of life & joyous parents. It's challenging, but he's gently happy to help expectant parents, despite how much he's hurting on the inside.

Being aggressively pursued by an Alpha is surprising, but with his trust and abandonment issues this is not necessarily a good thing. Yet he is lonely and this coparenting Alpha appears to be a good man. Fear, uncertainty, miscommunication, and that tricky Wolf shifter reveal make for an enjoyable Second Book in the Timberwood Cove series.

I've already read all the books leading up to it and I am eagerly awaiting the release of the 13th book, KIHYUN'S VOW on August 23rd.

It's hard to wait around for something
you know might never happen; but it's even harder to give up when you know it's everything you want. ~Anonymous~
Since this story was based around Shawn being destroyed emotionally from his ex because he wasn't able to conceive there were a lot of trust, abandonment and self confidence issues. I feel like there was a piece of the story that was missing, maybe a confrontation or something more than a melt down in the parking lot. From the way the Author explained Shawn's past and how torn up he was throughout I was waiting for something significant to happen, but it just had a quick mention then they moved on. Overall though the story was super sweet with a little bit of drama and low angst! The sex scenes were steamy plus there was an abundance of them (bonus lol). I also adored Lulu, Liam and Cole, they added lots of laugh out loud moments!
I've listened to Guillaume Dubois before and he has a way with his voice that adds life to the characters and really draws you deep into the story!! He's amazing!

Entertaining

The characters are sympathetic. Despite some plot problems, I enjoyed it.

Shawn is extremely insecure. That's fine. I've known people like that. But he is a Labor and Delivery nurse, and he believed his ex that he was infertile based on 6 months trying with one partner? Philip was no expert, but he had access to experts, and he didn't talk to anyone about it? Or do some research? He never had a patient tell him how long it took them to conceive? I know 3 people who were conceived after 10+ years of trying, and none of them are related to each other. I had trouble suspending belief about that.

There were other parts of the plot I also found weak, but "infertility" was the worst.

The author made a right mess with this one. A constant pity party of characters that it sounded like a jerry springer show meets the khardasians and the Osborne’s mixed up in a toilet bow and the constant going on about not changing a pregnant man despite book one having bryce being changed whilst pregnant, it’s as if that whole story never happened. Also link is a stupid name , I know Americans like calling there children wacky names but linc , what’s next doorknob ? Storm drain ?
This book really is just a regurgitation of maturely from book one, it could’ve been great but it wasn’t. It a world has men getting pregnant why would such a world be ignorant and hostile to shifters , doesn’t make any sense even for a fantasy novel, Star Wars is far more believable

Mmm, I liked the plot and the characters. Linc and Shawn were pretty good together. They actually talked with each other and resolved their issues pretty well.

The biggest fight was pretty dramatic but both were able to see where they went wrong. And Shawn was able to accept that he might have been over the top. And Linc realized he had been worrying too much. I liked that they made up and spoke about it.

A few things bothered me, like the writing in certain places. In some areas, it was a bit too much like a badly made romcom and then it would go back to being normal. I got over it but it makes me a bit weary about reading the others. I'll give them a try either way.

Well... sigh. I was really enjoying this one right up until {spoilers} Shawn suddenly freaked out and pushed Linc away. It just felt... over the top, contrived, and unnecessary. I also wasn't even remotely satisfied with how it was resolved. How unnecessarily hurtful that was to Linc, and how there wasn't really anything other than a brief apology about that. Also, the way Philip showed up made it seem like there would be a conflict having to do with him, and then... nothing. Just... ugh. I mean, I'm still into the series, but for me personally, this one ended up being a let down in terms of a satisfying love story. Oh well, on to the next!

I liked this book. I was not as in love as much as the first one. Started right of with a comment by Linc about how Liam probably couldn't wait to meet his new brother or sister when in the first book they had a reveal party and knew it was a girl. My other complaint was that it just had some moments that just felt like they dragged on to long. Came across as the author trying to make a shorter book longer. Otherwise I enjoyed most of the story. I am looking forward to the next story.

I really am a sucker for shifter romances. I thought this one was sweet and a little emotional (but not too much). Linc takes a bit to get his act together, but in the end he gets his HEA with Shawn. I really emjoy seeing other characters from the series continue to have supporting roles. I know we'll be able to keep up with existing couples as the series continues.

Such a sweet and beautiful tale. A miscommunication sets off some tough times but the story is all the better as it shows our couples ability to work through things

Wonderful, fun, sweet and loving!

Linc and Shawn both have insecurities to deal with before they become the cause of a break up. I love the relationship Linc has with his ex in co-parenting Cole. The sighting of Shawn's ex seems unnecessary, since nothing comes of it. I enjoyed this book very much.

Yeah not really feeling this the spice was fast and over in about a sentence and a half and was kinda lame. The story is okay but very vanilla to vanilla for me plus it's a woo-woo eye roll overall to romantic cringe series dnf

Big gestures for the win

Self-doubt and abandonment issues all make for a bad combo. But, love, trust and consistency can help make it all better…big gestures help too!!!

This was also just fine for what it was, I can't help but feel that some of the conflict that occurred in the second half was a little forced.

3.5 stars. It was cute. Angsty. But after the pregnancy, things got a little hormonal crazy. Which I totally get. But it caused more issues than necessary I think.
