First of all, I LOVE this cover!
Like all Aidee Jaimes's books, Cruel Seduction is thrilling and different. I don't know how she comes up with her story lines, but I'm always excited when I hear she's got something new brewing. So many romances these days have become cookie cutter, and this is far from that.
As you can deduce from the blurb, it has some darkish themes, which I'm ALL for (she likes to take risks with her writing--another thing I admire), and who wants to read the same old same old anyway? Plus I love not knowing quite what's actually going on until the last bit of the book. This challenged my mind and I was constantly wondering where the story and the characters would end up.
I highly recommend this and can't wait to move on to Ruthless Embrace!

Cruel Seduction by Aidee Jaimes is a romantic suspense that I listened to on audio narrated by Ada Sinclair.
This is the first book of Aidee’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. I was hooked from the very beginning and I loved every second of it. The book does end on a cliffhanger but that wasn’t a surprise since it’s the first book in the Cruel Duet series. I cannot wait for Ruthless Embrace to be released on audible to get more of Angelina and Michael’s story.
Ada did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

Since I have been reading ARC books lately I have occasionally gone outside the type of romance books that I normally read and for the most part it has been a positive experience. Take this book for example. It involves cheating and usually I will not read a romance book if it includes the hero and/or the heroine cheating because to me cheating is the opposite of romance. However I didn't have a problem with it in this case. No I am not changing my view on cheating but rather I guess this particular circumstances is one the exceptions. I don't want to spoil anything and so I will only say that no one is innocent and so I didn't feel bad about the infidelity.
The book kept my interest. At no time was I bored. There were a few surprises revealed at the end and I liked that. The story ends in a cliffhanger but that was expected because it was disclosed and so I didn't have a problem with it.
Why not 5 stars? Because in a few parts of the book the writing seemed rough, for lack of better word, like the book would have flowed better if different words were used. It occasionally took me out of the story, something that I never want to have happen.
I will be reading the next book in the series regardless of whether or not I read an ARC because I like this story and want to read more of the hero and the heroine's story.

Our heroine is being coerced down a certain path, but she doesn't mean she will go quietly.
This is a romantic suspense story with some dark elements to it. The story is well written and easy to read, but that does not mean it has a simplistic plot. The characters are also well developed, with true depth to them which drives the story. Both the characters and the plot have some expected twists to them which keep the reader engaged in the story and turning the pages. Overall, a highly enjoyable read and I look forward to the next book

Everything you think you know is wrong. Just remember that when reading this book.
Having read Jaimes' Private Investigation duet, I should be used to her plot twists, but I'm really not. I loved this book. It was hard to read at times, Killian is cruel and Angel was heartbreaking. She may have been victimized, but she is not a victim. I hesitate to reveal anything due to spoilers, so forgive me for having a vague review. I was compelled from the start and I hurriedly read through this book just so I could see what would happen next. I have no clue as to where this duet will take us. However I do know that "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" is a well known saying for a reason and I for one can't wait to see what Angel has in store for us in book 2!

Cruel Seduction
FINALLY a book that I have really really really enjoyed in what feels like forever!
It had just the right amount of drama, deception, evilness and backwards romance ;)
This book kept me engaged and I didn't want it to end; I want more!
Michael is such a creep, but I must admit, I might have a case of Stockholm syndrome, cause I kinda liked him.
Angel is a Muppet, no backbone and done my head in .. but I guess when a writer can make you get annoyed or frustrated at a character, they've done their job well.
Cannot wait until June for part 2!

OMG...this is the best book I've read in a LONG time! It is Part One in a duet and I am standing on pins and needles waiting on Book Two! Aidee Jaimes is a writing genius! My attention was carried from the first word to the last. The book was dark, twisted, and very erotic. So sit back, buckle up those seatbelts and enjoy the ride!

If I could have given more stars for this book I would have. The story is about vengeance but also about so much more. Angel is a really strong and powerful character but she meets her match with Killian. I really like this couple. Plenty of angst but a really good story and cannot wait for the last book. I am sure there are plenty of secrets to be revealed by both of them and we can find out what was stolen from Killian. I do have my suspicion but I will keep it to myself.

Many reviewers gave this book positive ratings, unfortunately for me I felt the story between Michael and Angel was very fractured and didn't flow well. Fiction can be anything you want it to be but this genre is generally based upon a storyline that is plausible in real time. The novel had it's moments but so much went unexplained with gaps throughout story. The story does not come together until the end of the novel when she views the video. It's clear that this is a revenge/hate story but Michael's plan to destroy Angel and seduce her into submission is one not clearly defined throughout most of the novel. You begin to see snipits of it toward the end of the first novel but it takes the author a long time to reveal motives or reasons for the kidnapping and seduction of Angel.
It turns out that this story is based loosely on the Mafia in book 1. The characters are hard to connect with and are inevitably naive. Angel who only knows Jacob for a very short time, knows little about him or what he does for a living, marries him against her family's wishes. Fast forward a few months and the kidnapping happens and she is given two choices, walk away or become a slave to Michael to save Jacob's life; even though Angel has the means to save Jacob more so than the other way around. She has lots of sex and kink with Michael as a part of her imprisonment and then falls in love with him while trying to save her husband. There is forced sex and there is love, which is it?
She's finally freed and watches the video once she returns home and the story starts to unfold unmasking her families dark past. Her father the apparent target of this kidnapping/con is dead. She easily kidnaps Michael and make him her hostage. I couldn't understand how easily Michael's character who had been the protagonist became the victim.
I am going to read book 2 because I signed up to receive book 2 as I do in most of these sequels . Perhaps the story will get more character development and story development in book 2, we will see.

Cruel Seduction and Ruthless Embrace are combined into one book, Cruel Embrace: The Complete Cruel Duet by Aidèe Jaimes. I highly recommend this duet! I loved the characters and already miss them!
Cruel Seduction (Book One) tells the story from Angelina's POV. She and her husband are abducted. She's given two choices. She can walk away at anytime, but her husband, Jacob, must remain. Or Angelina may stay and win their release. All she needs to do is fall completely in love with her captor. Either way Angelina knows her marriage is over, but she can't walk away to leave Jacob at the hands of their captor, Michael Killian, so she agrees to live in a suite designed for seduction.
Cruel Seduction is sooo good! The banter and sex between Angelina and Michael is so hot sparks fly. Over time they get to know each other and both begin to have feelings for each other, but it's clear that there's a lot being kept secret and a reason Michael has targeted Angelina. At first Michael irritated me. I wanted Angelina to scratch his eyes out, but he grows on both Angelina and the reader and just as we're starting to want them together, Cruel Embrace ends in a cliffhanger. Argh! I was frantic to continue reading their story! Luckily, Ruthless Embrace (Book Two) is available and if you choose to do as I did you'll read Cruel Embrace: The Complete Cruel Collection by Aidèe Jaimes to ensure you've got book two ready to go!

The author wrote a suspenseful story filled with intrigue and mystery. The choices she is forced to make are difficult and heartbreaking. The outcome of those choices is the same but also stunning and devastating. The author hid any clues as to what was happening in the background until the very end so when it is finally revealed, it is so unbelievable, my feelings matched the lead character’s - Heartbreak, sadness, disbelief, anger and revenge. Great storytelling and what an amazing setup for the next book. Mesmerizing in it deviousness, this story will remain with me for a long time.

This story will suck you in and hold you captive. I enjoyed Cruel Seduction from start to end and I can’t wait to see what happens next. This story is about Angelina who is taken captive along with her husband Jacob by someone he knows. Angelina has to make a choice, her freedom or her husband? She doesn’t know why this man is doing this to them and if her husband has a dark past or not, but one thing she does know is that this man is cruel.

This book is a dark romantic suspense tale which features well developed characters (Michael and Angelina), an amazing plot, and a storyline which includes mystery, suspense, unexpected twists, intrigue, and revenge. I highly recommend this read but be aware it ends in a cliffhanger. The story will continue in the next book of the Cruel Duet series entitled Ruthless Embrace.

I'm speechless!
Boy, how the tables turned. I never saw that coming. I had a feeling about the one part, but I thought that was going to be the main twist. How wrong was I?!

This is a fast-paced read. It is part one of a duet, but I felt like I was missing parts of the story. I understand they will be revealed in part two, but it made reading this a little difficult. That being said, this was intense and crazy and leaves you wanting more.

Michael and Angel are a great start to a relationship or is it an acquisition? Mystery, intrigue, love and hate all play a part in this fantastic story. This story has it all and there's more to come. Soon, A fantastic read. Ms Jaimes, I am hooked!

On the fence but… 4 stars - I was on the fence about the story in the beginning. It was hard to like Michael. That was kidnapping! But the story ended up being interesting and full of suspense and mystery. Who really are the Bianchis and how are the Killians connected to them? [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]

Killian kidnaps Angel’s husband and plans on using her for revenge. This is a fast-paced read with plenty of twists and turns, lots of drama, steam and suspense. Great characters, steamy chemistry and a read that really draws you in, looking forward to the second part of this duet. I really liked it.

Deep, dark & compelling...
Wow, this was intense. It had danger, desire & devastation & my heart rate picked up considerably at times, including the x rated parts, phew! This book is not a fairy tale. The plot is twisted and intense with scarred individuals. Angel has met her nemesis in Killian. These two are brought together by a debt and their story begins a hard attained love. Stay tuned...

Loved it!
This is a book that once you start reading it you can't put it down. I love the characters Angelina and Michael. Michael kidnaps Angelina and Angelina's husband Jacob. Michael wants Angelina to fall in love with him, if she does he will let Jacob go. Will she fall in love with Michael? You will need to read this great book to find out.

This type of book is usually right up my alley. And Ms Jaimes, a new to me author, didn't disappoint. The tension and emotions were perfect, the mystery surrounding the circumstances was a little predictable but still intriguing and the chemistry was amazing. I'm excited to dive into book two to see how the story ends for these two characters.

Meh
It just seemed long and drawn out, getting nowhere fast. With all that's happened between Michael and Angelina, any HEA (which would have to come in the second book, because this book ends on a ridiculous cliffhanger) would seem impossible and unbelievable.
Not sure I'm interested in finding out how this all shakes out.

No reasoning

This is a great book to read I enjoyed the well developed and engaging characters throughout the pages. The storyline flowed smoothly from the beginning to the end. It’s dark and seductive.
