Shin has been alone for most of his childhood, looked down upon because of his small wings. Unable to fly and surrounded by the many other messengers who fly in the sky, he can't remember a time he felt like he belonged. There are glimmers in his memories, moments when he feels as if there was someone, so why can't he remember? After getting into a fight with his peers, Shin is sent to become a messenger for the lowest-ranking god. The god he is sent to is a fluffy white ball with eyes and small legs, a god that possesses a power that could change everything. As Shin finds himself falling for this god, he fears he may lose him. It cannot be put into more perfect words here in the synopsis: "This is not a story of how a shape-shifting god and an earnest messenger with a short temper meet, but of how they find each other again."
"When I'm bigger and stronger, when I'm a full-fledged adult, will you be my god?"

THIS IS THE DEFINITION OF ADORABLE. I'm so glad I got this manga as a gift because I loved it so much. To begin with, Shin is an outcast known for his small wings and fiery temper. I loved that Shin would fend for himself. Then there was Baku, who was the perfect opposite of Shin. Calm, quiet, and thoughtful to Shin's loyalty, bravery, and determination. This book was definitely more romance than plot. While I normally love a good fantasy plot with a dose of romance, this book was just so comforting and sweet.
Hagi has one of my favourite art styles in any manga I have ever seen. There is something so magical about the settings, scenes, and characters. Her art reminded me of Rei Tōma's art as well. The story is slow-paced, savouring the cosy atmosphere. This manga feels a lot smaller scale, focusing a lot more on Baku and Shin than the greater plot. The stakes didn't feel as high as I wanted them to, but it was still enjoyable. While I feel as if the plot part of the story came in a lot later in the story, the resolution and way everything tied together were still well done.
Baku's fluffy-god-ball form was adorable, especially his small arms and legs. I loved every scene with Shin and the fluffy creatures💘. I am still grieving the loss of Baku's beautiful long hair. Come on, I wish he had that hairstyle for the whole book😭. It was a really interesting romance. There was a lot of chemistry between them; it felt a lot more like they were falling back in love than in love, as if they always knew each other. The childhood flashbacks had my heart; it was so cool to see Shin the same as always. I wasn't in love with the side characters, but the main two had my heart.
In conclusion, it's wholesome, sweet, and cosy! I couldn't recommend it enough for anyone who wants a good romance in fantasy-manga format that lives rent-free in the mind while reading.
"Even if you weren't my god and I wasn't your messenger, I love you. You're the only one I want by my side."
