An absolutely gripping standalone crime thriller with twists and turns that will leave you questioning everything.

THERE’S A KILLER INSIDE THE POLICE STATION.
A police station should be a safe place. But not when there’s a psychotic serial killer working there.

THE FIRST VICTIM IS FOUND GRUESOMELY MUTILATED IN HIS MOST SENSITIVE AREA. HE IS DRESSED IN A JUDGE’S WIG.

Detective Superintendent Jack Fulton takes on the grisly murder enquiry and discovers that his murderer might actually be one of the police station staff.

MORE EMINENT VICTIMS FOLLOW. KILLED IN THE SAME SADISTIC MANNER.

The press nickname the razor-wielding assassin “The Slicer.” With the killer stalking the shadowy Victorian building, Fulton has to contend not only with press harassment and police who will stop at nothing to get a result, but also with other problems much closer to home.

As the killer leads him on a grim game of cat and mouse, Fulton has little idea of just how personal that game is about to become . . .

Slice is about trust and murder. Detective Superintendent Jack Fulton caught a case of people dying in a sadistic manner. After the second body, the worst nightmare for any cop is that the murder is working inside the police station. The more Detective Superintendent Jack Fulton investigates more he is conveniences of police corruption inside Saddler Street Police Station. The readers of Slice will continue to follow Detective Superintendent Jack Fulton investigation to see what happens.

Slice is the first book I have read of David Hodges, and I enjoyed reading this book. David Hodges did a fantastic job incorporating the twist and turns throughout this book. I will differently read another book by David Hodges. I like how David Hodges incorporate the twist and turns in the plot of this book. I love David Hodges portrayal of his characters and how they interact with each other throughout this book. Slice is well written and researched by David Hodge. I enjoy the way David Hodges describes the settings of Slices that allowed me to imagine being part of the plot of this book.

The readers of Slice will learn about the role of a police station in the community. Also, the readers of Slice will learn about the cyclopean eye.

I recommend this book.

3.5 ⭐️ - Not a bad read, though it did take a few chapters to pick up pace from my perspective. The Slicer case was interesting overall, but I didn’t find many of the characters to be particularly likable or relatable which impacted my rating. I also found some of the UK terminology to be bit confusing, considering my USA-based language lens (ie. Plods, Bobbies, Gordon Bennet) but wouldn’t say it took away from the story. I did not guess the ending, so bonus points for that.

This was a gruesome psychological British crime thriller where Jack Fulton and his team are faced with a spate of nasty deaths.

Jack came across as grumpy and belligerent, however, he was not all he seemed. There were plenty of tangles to the web of deceit spun by the killer and I enjoyed the unravelling.

Great characters and plot, well-written and engaging.

Recommended.

A hard boiled police procedural with Detective Superintendent Jack Fulton on/off leading the investigation. The case becomes personal and Jack is taken off as SIO but continues to investigate on his own with somewhat dodgy methods. Learning that the Slicer is a copper the investigation becomes even more nerve racking. Fast paced, hard to put down, a very entertaining read.

An easy and compulsive read.

This book is fast paced and the main character is a likeable rude and self serving rogue. Excellent characters throughout.

The British slang just really made it tough for me to get through, and although it wasn’t super predictable there were some cliches sprinkled throughout

A very good and interesting story. A new and a rather horrendous way of dispatching victims into the other world minus certain body parts. Well written and this book has you hooked till the last pages.
I can't help but comment that Scottish and English authors always include in their cast of characters a gruff cantankerous no nonsense individual who is either the main person of the book or else in charge of said police department.
I do read quite a lot and have noticed this in a lot of books lately. Not a bad thing , but sort of repetitious.
Still good stories though.

Great read

Really good twist and enjoyed reading it. At time there was fluffy content that wasn't really needed and keeping up with different sub-plot characters was hard at times.
