Nick Evans, a gifted yet perpetually unsuccessful singer-songwriter, after another rejection is persuaded by his friend, Julie, to try a different tack. Having been told his voice is not ‘manly’ enough, could he possibly make it as a female singer called Cara Malone? The reactions of his friends and family will make you laugh and cry as you ride the rollercoaster of emotions and experiences that our hero-cum-heroine is subjected to. Success looms on the horizon, but it comes at a price. Someone knows the big secret and events build towards a breath-taking climax where not only love, but Cara’s very life, is laid on the line. Add a mysterious stalker, personal tragedy, the fear of exposure, a heart-breaking love story – and you will find that ‘No Half Measures’ is not only a gripping compulsive read, but also a story that speaks of self-discovery and one which challenges our preconceptions about identity and love. “Jenny manipulates her characters on a realistic stage and we’re left breathless by the ingenuity and plot devices she uses to such good effect.” “I have never read anything like this in my life. It made me cry, laugh and hold onto my seat at the same time.” “I can’t tell you how uplifting it was to read this story. It was something I’d been looking for for a very long time. It’s a story I know I’ll re-read periodically, just for the happiness and inspiration I found in it.”

No Half Measures by Jenny is an emotionally charged and unique journey that explores identity, self-discovery, and love. The story follows Nick Evans, a talented yet unsuccessful singer-songwriter who, after multiple rejections, decides to reinvent himself as a female artist named Cara Malone.

This book told a beautiful tale of love, complete with doubts, disappointments, conflicts, and joy, as well as the journey to success in the music industry and the hard work required to get there. The transformation of a transgender lady from an awkward and struggling male named "pretty boy" Nick to a stunningly successful musical sensation with the stage name Cara Malone was the second fantastic narrative strand.

Cara's musical prowess is supported by a strong foundation. Above all, a 10-year-old does not possess the knowledge and intelligence of a 50-year-old. She is shy and kind, but when she gets scared, she loses her temper. Even when she is the target of a joke or is being teased, she maintains her sense of humour and humour. I genuinely think it was an autobiography since every character is so multifaceted and authentic.

Jenny masterfully weaves a gripping tale that keeps readers on the edge of their seats, challenging perceptions of gender, love, and what it means to truly be oneself. With its heart-warming love story and unexpected twists, No Half Measures is a poignant and thought-provoking read that will leave a lasting impact.

Half Full

Trite. Formalistic. Every cliche in the book. Avoid this book, unless you are into this sort of thing. Not worth the money.

Good book

It is a good book. A little long, but it comes together in the end. It has a lot of up and downs. Adventure and romance.

I liked most of the book, even though some of it idealises the music industry more than it's worth. The most realistic part is also what I did not like, as I have seen too many in the scene (and ot ony musicians) slip into drug abuse and yes, I count alcohol among drugs, and watched some even die from it; directly or indirectly, my parents are among them.

The gratuitous violence that followed only to be caught by an all too cliché happy end didn't help either. The writing is good, the descriptions of the protagonist's feelings well captured, even if the development of the heroine is ony forced, the arising insight all too drastically the result of external influence.

A delightful epoch!!

This book was such a wonderful story, with a rise to success in the music industry, the hard work to achieve that success, a wonderful story of love, with its uncertainties, disappointments, doubts, conflicts, and joy.

The other wonderful thread in the plotline was the evolution of a transgender girl from an awkward and struggling boy named "pretty boy" Nick to a beautiful successful musical sensation with the stage name of Cara Malone.

Everything in this story is so real, capturing not only the description of each place, from the quaint charm of Notting Hill to the Majesty of Garden of the Gods Colorado and the peaks near Breckinridge. Each place, she captures the spirit and experience as well.

Most importantly, the characters are so real and authentic. Cara is musically brilliant, but there is a solid foundation for this. Most importantly, we don't have a 10 year old with the wisdom and intelligence of a 50 year old. She's shy, she's nice yet has her temper when she is afraid. She's also funny and has a sense of humor, even when she is being teased or being the victim of a joke. All of the characters are so real and multidimensional that I really can believe that it was an autobiography.

Wonderful writing Jenny Walker!

This was my first Jenny Walker book, but I am looking forward to reading more.

Absolutely fabulous, it would make a wonderful movie

This a well written novel and would make a wonderful movie. It was educational and must have been well researched. I learned a lot about the complications of the music industry and the challenges of being a performing and recording artist. The characters are well developed and made it easy to continue reading this long novel. It was hard to put down.
