You should know that when I review a story most of the time I CANNOT be like the cool people here analysing the books. I just pretend the characters are real people and I'm giving unsolicited opinion on Twitter/Reddit. Be warned.
I'm chuffed with the news!
The crime solving bit was, as always, intriguing. It's rather pleasant watching them solving the crimes. All of them. And how they intertwine. The main plot though, how sad.
Jordan and Ellie only gets better. Even Kathryn is less insufferable.
I'm dreading already reading the remaining 4 books, I don't want it to end or to wait however long for the next hehehe
As Carpenter and Harding explore options for parenting, a local family asks for help with a cold case.
questions are raised once again about perceptions about homosexuality and the actions some folks took against it historically, possibly related to their own urges and an inability to reconcile them with the mores and practices of the time, especially dealing with modern day bigotry and historical homicide
The loyalties of an officer are called into question when dangers present themselves and certain officers do not appear
Jordan and Ellie struggle with issues from their past and professional situations, making them quite complex. They are fantastic characters: intelligent, dedicated, have great integrity, and are very devoted to each other. Each book has been suspenseful with intriguing cases/investigations that keep you coming back for more. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series.
This is a great series! With every book, I fall more in love with the characters and the story. I'm glad I won't have to wait to read the rest of this series! Be sure Barbara Winkes is on your list read list!
The Carpenter/Harding series is so darned good! Implications continues the run, with believable characters, interesting plot line, and enough tension to keep you thinking about the book, even when you’re not reading it. Keep ‘em coming, Barbara!
Another good story revolving around this police precinct & this group of close knit & connected friends & family that all seems to start with Jordan & Ellie.
Ellie Harding a homicide detective and her wife Jordan Carpenter a major.crimes detective, are trying to start a family. Jordan is preparing her body by cutting out alcohol, caffeine and unhealthy foods. Ellie is trying to solve a 30 yr old murder case where she believes the wrong person served those years behind bars and still claimed his innocence on his death bed. Ellie is followed, shot at and chocked while getting to the bottom of this case which has been closed once again for lack of actual evidence. Jordan has been called to a homicide scene because the department believes this death involves something much bigger. I enjoyed this book in the series. I love the interactions of all the characters that are coming along for the ride in this series. They can be read independently of each other. You just miss out on the journey of Ellie and Jordan as well as the variety of characters. Each mystery is separate from the book before.
I r enjoy the Carpenter/Harding series. I’m excited to see how everything turns out in the next one. The story is well written and keeps the pace fast moving. The 60 year old murder was interesting to see what actually happened. I recommend the series as well as Implications it’s well worth the time.
