Title: Tug Author: Marie James Genre: Contemporary MC Romance **RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW** Disclaimer: Will leave you panting and sweating from the titillation coming off these pages. May need to keep your favorite drink by your side and possibly your favorite partner. *wink*
So, Cerberus MC is at it again. Treading on the toes of the "good" guys while working with said good guys. Gotta give it to our boys, where's the fun in always being "good"? Face it, bad looks good on these men. This book was interesting and not because sex leads the story. It involves a triad relationship. And yes there is m/m, m/f, and m/f/m interaction. Tug and Max are friends from childhood and Jasmine is Shadow's daughter. That is all the spoilers you are getting sorry.
Now, did I like the story? It was ok. I personally struggle with triad relationships because someone always is left out no matter how much or how hard they try to make it equal. There always seems to be a deeper connection between two characters and you will feel it. The same happens in this situation in my opinion. No matter how much they insist a certain person is the glue to hold the three together the bond lacks between two of them. Also, I didn't care for Jasmine. I felt her character wasn't written with a lot of depth.
The overall story was pretty good and I liked getting a glimpse of Tug's life and seeing the guys in action rescuing women. It's been awhile since we have really seen them in action. The abrupt ending...ugh...seriously? I felt as if the whole are they really HEA or are they still doubting was in the air. So, I am giving it 3/5 ***.
This deserves 5 billion stars!! Marie you are AMAZING!!! Tug, Max and Jasmine!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Tug is part of the Cerberus MC - Max is/was the love of Tugs life and his childhood friend, and Jasmine.. well she is the daughter of Shadow.. Max was Tug's best friend and lover in high school.. that is until he joined the Marines and Tug left Max. Tug gets some heartbreaking news that his childhood best friend/lover passed away.. He is now home and trying to deal with this.. and after 10 years its still hard. Still trying to deal with the day to day.. Tug visits a Hale-Ish club on masquerade night.. This is where he meets both a girl and guy that seem to calm him and intrigue him. So what happens when you are come face to face with the ghost of your past? And when said ghost reveals some very disturbing news? How will Tug react, Will the Cerberus men help out? What is Shadow going to do when he finds out his daughter and one of his men (and another) have found love together?
This book is phenomenal - everything Marie writes is phenomenal - I sooo can not wait for Scooter and Mia. (max's sister)
I was disappointed early on because of Jasmine having casual sex. I don't like promiscuous or formerly promiscuous characters. It makes what they eventually have with their eventual HEA person or people not as special. I don't like that she frequented such clubs. I have nothing against the clubs or those activities but that stuff is too intimate for casual partners. It should only be with permanent partners.
There's a bit of slight outside the relationship sexual content. It doesn't belong in a romance. No cheating or OM/OW stuff in romance books or I give it a 1 star because it's disturbing.
I like the story. I just don't agree with the promiscuity, the outside the relationship sex, the 2nd chance romance aspects since they were with others during their time apart, the sex club visits that included casual sex, etc. It would otherwise have probably been a 4.
I thought this book wasn't going to be my cup of tea but I loved the play between the three of them these books certainly have some steam coming off of them
I've been a fan of Marie James books for a long time now. And she has written some great things before and I'm sure she'll continue to write more. But as of right now, this is the hottest book of hers I've ever read. The relationship between these three was filled with tension of all kinds. As usual the writing was amazing. It always holds my attention and has the pages flying (or kindle swipes). It had me on edge until the very end wondering how things would work out, but it was oh so worth it. That ending has me so excited for the next book. This series is turning out to be just as good as the originals. It has me not ever wanting to leave the Cerberus world.
I absolutely loved this book! Tug is a man who has been hurt and isn’t really looking for a relationship. He is Cerberus now and that is enough.... until it isn’t. Jasmine is in the Cerberus family and is content, she just has a secret she doesn’t want her family to find out. How these 2 lives intersect is a fascinating, interwoven and seriously HOT tale. This book is well written with engaging characters and a storyline I could NOT put down. I absolutely loved it!!
Freaking Awesome in so many ways!! Tug is a hot addition to the CerberusMC family. Family...friendship...love❤️...lust...loss...passion and connection. A array of interesting new characters, each who bring an new dynamic. I was hooked from the opening scene. Heartfelt, passionate and a need for more.
I was privileged to read an ARC whilst I await my preorders to arrive.
Tug is a newish member of Cerberus MC. Former Marine, he slot's right in with the brothers. He needs the structure after leaving the marines and it serves him well but in his personal life he'll always yearn for the one he walked away from to join up. Max was his best friend, his lover, his everything. Walking away was the hardest thing he's done but he had no choice. It was either that or end up dead at his fathers hands. Since then no one has compared. He likes to play. He goes to clubs, has fun and knows there will be no strings attached. Tug goes to a new to him club for some one night action. Little does he know that his world is about to blow wide open. One night of fun with two people will change his life for good.
Max made a choice years ago. That choice saved his life but took away everything and everyone he loved. He's had to stay in the shadows watching over his loved ones. Now he's once again had to make a choice. His life has effected his sister and he now needs help. Never does he think that the best friend who walked away from him years ago would be able to help. But as though no time has passed they meet up in an unconventional and unexpected manner that has them both reeling.
Jasmine is Dominic's daughter. She's older than the other Cerberus kids and stays on the outskirts of the family. She doesn't feel she can be herself with them, even her sister. To have some fun she has to travel away from the family so that they won't judge her for her choices. On a recommendation she attends a sex club to let loose and not be the good girl her dad thinks she is. While there she meets two men who will grant her, her desires. It's what she craves which is why she finds it in clubs without judgement and also why she's still single. She can't imagine ever finding love because of her needs. Little does she know these two men will give her everything she needs and more while also turning her world on it's axis. Both are trouble. Both could break her.
Tug, Max and Jasmine's worlds collide in the best and worst way possible. Can it ever work?
Wowzers! Hot does not do this book justice. The loving scenes will burn up your kindle and set you on fire. It has something for everyone in here! M/F, M/M, MFM, MMF and even a little sneaky F/F i mean what else do you need! Soooo well written, honestly Marie James has those scenes down to an art you are never wanna give up. She makes you feel everything they do... Maybe make time to either be alone or maybe with a friend because you're going to want some relief by the end! lol
That being said it's not just loving scenes. There's a lot of action too. I kind of missed the Cerberus guys in the other kids books but because Tug is a member whoop whoop those guys are back up front again! The story gets quite dark in some places. What the MC does kind of ensures that but i just love it. They guys in action is nearly as hot as the other scenes.
Great storyline which kept me drawn in. Couldn't put it down. But that end!! OMG The swear words that slipped through my lips turned the air blue!!
The only tiny downside is that i really do wish it was a bit longer. I think there needed to be some solid resolution between Tug, Max and Jasmine, when you read you'll understand. The very end is great and it's made me so hungry for Scooters book but... i'm hoping that this one will be either concluded maybe in a novella or through Scooters book, it kind of felt up in the air still. Even so it didn't ruin my enjoyment. Maybe's it's just me that needed more than there was? Don't know, but i'm looking forward to what's coming next!
Highly recommend this series! You could probably read this one as a stand alone in all honesty but it's such a great diverse series you'd be missing out if you didn't pick the rest up.
Kingston "Tug" Jacks had plans that didn't work out like he'd imagined. He left the only man he ever saw himself having a future with, his best-friend and lover, Max to join the Marines. He lost his love before he could make things right. Fast forward thirteen years later, he was now a part of the Ceberus MC where he never thought he would find his future.
Jasmine, Dominic and Makayla Anderson's (DOMINIC) daughter was out one night to have some much needed fun at Hale-ish Retreat and Spa. She was having fun with a man when another one decided to hoin them. And what a night it turned out to be.
Tug met a two beautiful masked strangers ( Lilly & Carlos) in a "sex club", he got what he'd been craving for and much more. Every now and then he went back to Hale and enjoyed his encounters with his partners. "Carlos" felt very familiar tk him, he had to wonder if it was a ghost or something more. When the woman they've both been sharing in the club turned out to be his boss' daughter, Jasmine...well things just took a very interesting turn.
Max had to take some extreme action in order for him to live the way he wanted. He was coming after the Ceberus for help in finding his twin sister, Mia. He'd planned to use Jasmine but Tug wouldn't allow that to happen. He protected her even if it meant going against the man he once loved. There was more to Max than beneath the eyes.
The Ceberus mission this time around was very personal, they had to rescue one of Tug's best-friends named Mia Vazquez. Loved how the author addressed the everyday issues that many women are faced with. I've enjoyed the growth of the chatacters, the interactions between the original Ceberus members and the new generation is always a delightful treat.
Loved that Tug, Jasmine & Max got their HEA. It was a treat to catch up with some old friends and meet new ones.
TUG is the tenth book in Marie James' CEBERUS MC series. It was steamy, fascinating and oh so intoxicating. Another magnificent job by Marie James. 5 Golden Stars!
There was next to no MC action in this one, which was a bummer. The only real MC action was to set us up for the next book. And that action was disturbing in how it was described and that it felt like in the end, Max put his relationship with the other two ahead of his sister once he decided he was okay with being in it. That definitely could have been written better.
The place where I listened to the book didn't have the RH part in the description so that definitely was a bit of a surprise to me, especially since I'm not really an RH fan outside of a few select books. Honestly, the description read more like Max's death and seeing his ghost kind of life Griffin's issues was going to stand in the way of him connecting with Jasmine so that threw me off.
Not to mention that Max seemed to be fully pissed that Tug wasn't willing to stay in danger just to stay with him. Tug said multiple times that he had to leave to stay alive and even all those years later, Max basically held a grudge that he was putting his life ahead of Max. His dad was a POS so we know that if they ever came out the closet, Tug would be dead in an instant. I really wasn't a fan of Max for that reason and a few others. He gave off a creep vibe and a spoiled brat vibe to me.
This book definitely wasn't my cup of tea, I feel like you have to be in the mood for it and know that even though it's part of an MC series, it doesn't really fit the other books. You also have to know that there's not a lot of baggage holding back Tug and there are quite a few unanswered questions in the end about his past life as well.
I also felt like even though they claimed Jasmine was just as important, that she felt right when thinking she'd be left out. Both she and Tug admitted they wouldn't be together without Max but I never got a vibe that Max and Tug wouldn't work without her. Even though all three ended up together, it just felt like that wasn't actually going to last in a healthy way since the guys seemed to love each other so much that I'm not sure there was enough room for her in there other than to just mediate their fights. I felt like she and Tug would have a good relationship together but add in Max and it threw their chemistry off.
Have you ever read a book that made you want to reach in and slap someone upside the head or shake some sense into them? Well this is one of those books but instead of two characters, you have three! Yep, the three lead characters in this book seem to want to take turns at having the reader head slap them, and it all revolves around their relationship with each other. I once heard an actor say that if the viewer hated them in the role they played then they did their job right. Well, this author has done the same with her characters. No I didn't hate them, nor the author, but I certainly got so wrapped up in them that I wanted to shake the sense right back into them because if one wasn't doubting their place in their "triad", it was one of the others. Yes, this author did her job very well.
The storyline is both intriguing and painful. There is a bit of mystery as well as action, but it is the story of Max's sister who has been taken that brings the pain to this book. It is also the feelings of the three lead characters that will reach in and squeeze your heart at times. There is a lot of pain and anger between Tug and Max that needs to be resolved before the three of them can move forward, and its the talking that needs to happen that seems to be their main problem. They never really get things out fully. Throw in Jasmine and her need to have both men, but not wanting to come between them and things really get head slap worthy.
I did love this book and seeing the other members of the family/club. I loved the relationship between the lead characters, even if they are still trying to figure that out (LOL), and then there is this story revolving around Mia, Max's sister that will pique your interest and have you wanting to see what happens with her.
I highly recommend this book and can hardly wait for the next book to come out!
After the way Samson ended, we just knew that Jasmine was going to be into something good, and boy did she not disappoint. A chance encounter at an adult club, masked so that their identity was hidden, three people engage in a really hot time. In the light of day the three couldn't be further apart, or so they think. Two men and one woman that have a connection but no clue how to really act on it other than in the bedroom. When insecurities and uncertainties start to make trouble, will the triad call it quits before they even really become a triad?
So for me this was a good story; nice drama, a bit of action, and some amazing naughty bits (even some I could have done without). I'm a big fan of MMF stories, I love getting to watch them figure out how to get such a relationship to work, but we didn't really get that. But Marie James did give us her usual lead in to the next story and I am so excited to see what happens next. I give this 4 stars.
3.5 stara. I love an MMF and I was a big fan of the original Cerberus series. I found this one a hard read with the detail and gruesome/gory description of the sex trafficking and operations. It was likely more "realistic" but made it quite disturbing and much darker than the rest of the story (the romance) matched. The book has the potential to be a very difficult read for anyone who is a sexual abuse or assault survivor, and might catch them off guard with its foray into dark subject. The MMF factor is steamy, though the author has definitely pushed the whole open sex thing sometimes slightly over the top in her recent books, but it is pretty hot to read. There's a lot of back and forth for this triad, probably at least one more than necessary, but overall it was definitely a read-in-an-afternoon kind of book that I enjoyed.
This addition to the Cerberus Mc was wonderful. Marie James really hit it out of the park again. This book is both MFM and MMF. She doesn't write Brooks likes this very often but when she does they are page turners that you can't put down to the very end.
Kingston, Max, and Jasmine have a hot and steamy relationship with a lot of bumps in the road along the way. They will make you laugh, cry, yell, and have you needing some air conditioning.
This is a Cerberus MC book so you will need to have read the others to understanderstand the characters and plot around them. Jasmine is one hot tamale but doesn't beg for anything even if she wants its it bad. Kingston "Tug", Max and her belong together. Also, club Hale is brought back for another visit or a couple which makes the book even steamed.
This is a really steamy installment focusing on a MMF triad, Tug, Max and Jasmine. I have loved the series thus far and this one was good but something was really off. Steaminess was expected given the MMF scenario and the underlying story is that Max is trying to save his sister. It's an awful situation for his sister and even with all that, it feels like their relationship and the steam has to take precedence? This is especially disturbing later in the book. Overall, while the other books in the series highlighted how awesome these men and women are as they save people from oppression and horrors I wish weren't actually real, this one was less so focused and the loss of that made this my least favorite book in the series. However, I will still read on (or listen, in this case, as the narration is fantastic)
Marie James did a great job on Tug, the story was written well, it was packed with many feelings. Max, Tug and Jasmine were great characters. Their journey wasn't any easy one by far. They had many ups and downs but they were good together even though the emotional rollercoaster. The chemistry was sexy. They were great together. I enjoyed this story, it was great. Looking forward to reading more. Thank you, Marie James. Great work :)
I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book but holy cow this one blew my mind and is one of my all time favorites. Tug, jasmine and Mac truly were a powerful read, hot of course and provided such an emotional escape for me . They dynamics, the personalities and everything about this read was pure perfection!
I enjoyed Tug, I wanted to love it like the rest of the series but this one was a bit slow. All in all it's a pretty good addition to the series, I did adore Jasmine some of the time, others she made me want to kick her in the butt. Not my absolute favorite but a good read.
I really love a menage, MMF is my favorite trope. I was really excited to read this. The book was a little long winded but I was satisfied with the HEA. 4 stars
I liked this, yes there was a lot of sex, but there was also a good story surrounding that so it was 4/5 stars for me. I love spice in a book, I definitely do. But I also have my limits on how much sexy time I encounter in a book. That’s the only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I actually liked that it starts out as them going to and experiencing a sex club, I’ve always thought sex clubs were interesting. Very intriguing. I’d never be able to woman up and go to one, but I can appreciate them for what they are. As for the parts with Mia, Max’s sister, I couldn’t help but tear up on those parts. I couldn’t even imagine what those women who get trafficked go through.. terrifying! Yeah, tears were definitely streaking down my cheeks as I read those parts and how Max handles it. In the beginning I didn’t like Max much but then after the half way mark I see the good in him and how sweet he is. I liked Tug and Jasmine equally. I could never understand how a triad relationship works though, that’s the part I couldn’t wrap my head around. I mean I could see how people having 3 sums is a thing obviously, but the relationship aspect where 3 people are in an actual relationship, that sounds tricky! The author does a great job voicing from their different POV’s what I would expect any person would have trouble with. But then at the end with everything working out, I suppose I could see it. I can’t wait to read Scooters story! Seriously, and the way he was with Mia, I really hope it’s as good as some of my favorites from this series have been. And I really want to read from both characters POV’s.
The author did serious work to make this book happen. She wrote some awesome scenes and again included the other members of the family. The Cerberus Team is still going on missions and saving people. Kincaid is a great leader. He is always on point. For those reasons I gave five stars. I asked for a triad a few books ago with Snatch and Itchy but didn’t get it but this book was almost there. I enjoyed the storyline and plot but it was irritating that none of the three lead characters Tug, Max, and Jasmine, a college professor no less, could not have a serious conversation about being a triad. Plan how to live together, should they stay at Jasmine’s place or look for more space? . It was painful reading these attempts they had to cement their relationship because one of them would get upset and leave or one time two of them left the conversation. Even at the end, which was happy, they still fell short. I was extremely disappointed in Jasmine because at 30 years old if you cannot explain to your parents or sister or best friends that you have always liked multiples and now you have found the two men who own your heart. That you want a triad and you care about these two men, then you should not be in one. You are not mature enough to sustain a triad. Even Gigi and her baby daddy are open about going to the same club. There has been no shaming with this team or family members - which is why I gave the five star rating. These three characters disappoint but the rest of the story and plot are good. Read On!
Narrator score🎧 ; both narrator's are great i loved the voices of Kingston quite much.
Level of steam🔥: this book is hell of sexy, full of sex the story isnt about sex but it is full of it.
Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: sadness.... hmmmmm the story of the two man is kinda sad but I didn't cry or anything like that. It was more the acknowledgement of the couple... and from the other side we had the female character she had a quiet and happy lifestyle.
The book itself📖: the book had too much elements of drama in first i was confused who was who... but than (after 3 chapters) I got what the author wanted to tell us and I accepted it, because as far as a threesomes goes it was kind of a good one, much better than the others I read. Did I had issues with the story? Yes I did spasticity with Max, I may understand his anger as a teenager, I may understand that his first love left him for the army but I can't understand what he did because of it! It even annoyed me quite much.... the fact that Kingston forgave him so fast and kinda blamed him self (it wasn't said in those words in the book but it definitely was implied) and it enjoyed me so very much. Jasmine was a cool character full of liberty and sass and I liked her, I liked how she answered her father about her life and her choices and I loved that it wasn't a drama factor in the book.... because the author could make more drama with that.
Kingston (Tug), Max, and Jasmine are hot together. If you are reading a book about a triad, you can expect a number of sex scenes. This book is no different. What was frustrating was for most of the book, the third of them are out of sync with each other, so there could happen been more wonderfully wicked scenes.
I really like Tug. Max is OK and Jasmine is great. Although, Max and Jasmine definitely have some self worth issues. Tug was the one that held them together.
We knew from the previous book that Dominic, Jasmine's dad, walked in on something he shouldn't have. Cam was supposed to be keeping guard and got distracted by Samson. Not sure why they couldn't lock the door. But it is kind of funny.
I was hoping this book was going to be hotter but Hound and Snatch were a lot hotter.
The loss of a star is for the disconnect between the 3 main characters carrying on too long. It almost seems as if the editing problems are now getting worse instead of better.
Not my usual kind of read, but pretty interesting.
Jasmine, adopted daughter of Dominic, is all grown up and likes to head out of town to enjoy herself at a sex club in Denver. First, because she is part of the Cerberus family and they are very protective, plus she is a teacher and has to be protective of her own reputation in a small town. In addition, she likes to role play.
Tug, a Cerberus member, also likes walking on the wild side and goes to Denver to the same club. At the sex club, they are masked so they don't know each other's real identity. But hooking up with Jasmine there is only part of the surprise for Tug. He also finds his childhood friend and lover, Max, a man Tug believes to be dead.
Way to go Jasmine for standing up to daddy like that! Jasmine is a little different. Too young to be one of the originals and too old to really fit in with the younger crowd. She marches to the beat of her own drum and isn't shamed of it. The mmf thing was touched on in Snatch and Itchy's story but not in a long term, permanent way like it is here.
Tug, Max, and Jasmine are very hot together but the story seemed a little too disjointed. I could feel the sexual passion between all the characters but the emotional connection seemed a bit forced.
Book 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Tug - Max - Jas 🥰 Hot 🔥 Umm well, clutches pearls, and blushes 😊 that was hot!! Wow, I loved the 3 of them together they compliment each other so well. Tug/King works hard to reassure both of them, Jasmine is so loving she just wants to love on them both, and Max loves hard & he just doesn’t want to be hurt 😍. Good read the only thing missing is I wish we would’ve gotten an epilogue.
*Scooter & Mia’s book is next I may have to skip it or skim it I won’t be able to take it if they get to detailed about what was done to her.
I can say I wasn't into the whole Triad relationship on MMF. I honestly was hoping that Jasmine and Tug was going to be enough for them and fall in love bc I thought that was the direction it was going with Jasmine being jealous. But when they can't even have sex with just the two of them n realize they need to have threesome in order to be happy I just became disappointed.

Max and Jasmine seemed to still be insecure with relationship when book ended. If Jas was good Max wasnt and vice versa. I also didnt understand how if Max and Jas cared about each other, then why couldnt they be together without Max? I think it was crazy for Max to still be upset over Tug leaving to go into military...especially since his father was abusive. It was his way out. Just felt let down at the end of the book.
