The final battle draws near, and the fate of men and gods hangs in the balance…
Brand has defeated the army of Unferth, and the usurper lies dead. His magician, Horta, is also humbled. From the ruins of battle, Brand forges alliances and brings warring tribes together toward a single, all-important purpose.
But time is running out. Nor does he have soldiers enough to face what comes. For the army of the Kar-ahn-hetep is on the move, and the gods of that warlike people march with it. Dread flies before them, and darkness falls over the land.
What must follow is a battle Brand cannot win. But he will fight it anyway. Yet, unknown to him, a desperate hope exists. That spark is held by Horta, his enemy, and the magician might as easily snuff it out as flare it to life. But the will of the Dark God is bent upon the world, and his only thought is to crush Brand forever…
This is the final book of the Dark God Rises trilogy.
I am a man born in the wrong era. My heart yearns for faraway places and even further afield times. Tolkien had me at the beginning of The Hobbit when he said, ". . . one morning long ago in the quiet of the world . . ."
I love to read high fantasy and epic fantasy novels, and I have a passion to write, to weave a story with words that draws the reader into another world.
The world building and detail in this trilogy was well thought out and put together in a coherent flowing style. I found this Author through the Seventh Knight story and am awaiting further books in that series. The Author holds to the same rules and texture of the world his characters inhabit. There are a lot of authors and stories out there this one is definitely worth the time.
Part 3 of the series. A satisfying conclusion. It also became clear that this series starts before and is running concurrent to the other "Knight" series of books. Note: you have to start at book one of the series for the series to make sense.
I really enjoyed this whole series of books, the characters are thoughtful and well fleshed out. It also was nice that it was well developed for the other characters that are not just the main character. I would recommend this series highly.
I can't say enough about the Books Robert Ryan has written, I've read just about all of Roberts Books I think the Stories are just Great they keep me reading some times all night. Laurie Stuart an Avid Reader
It's always great to read about Brand's adventures. The Author dose a nice job of telling his story. Some day it will come to end an he can live in peace an have a family of his own. All things must come to a end. So if you like a nice ease read give The Dark God a read
If you are trying to find a new series to read or a new author to enjoy, this is a great one. If you like clean books with noble heroes, you will love this author. He has not let me down yet. This is “Lord of the Rings”-ish but not just in the manner of language. This is an original and so very good and fun. I hope you will try any of his books. They are great!
Talk about keeping you on the edge of your seat! Like the two before it. This one is a nail biter and a worthy read. It's not too long and not too short either.
