Terrible book. That's my review. 2 star because of the humor of the terribleness.

Worth $-1. They have to pay you to read it.

This has some really good stories in it. Horror anthologies are always great because you don't invest a lot of time to each story so if you don't like or understand a story you can try the next one. Lot of really good stories that make you think. The story about the crying woman was probably my favorite, the ending was worthy of the original Twilight Zone. Definitely worth giving a try.

I've read this writer's works before on Nosleep and followed her closely because she seemed like the most interesting writer there. Reading this collection, I can definitely attest to her style and intricacy. Sometimes, the stories end a little early or a little anti-climactically, but the buildup is always good and when the stories end well, they really hit the reader.

Definitely worth a read if you like unsettling stuff- especially fun if you're out in the woods, at night, alone, near an abandoned building...

These stories are addictive...I finished this in one sitting and, yes, I was a little sad when it was over. Thankfully, there's a third installment coming toward the end of this month.

I didn't like the first collection, so I honestly don't know what possessed me to read this one.

I couldn't even finish it. Terrible. Boring. Not scary.

Enjoyed it

As per the first collection, it was fast and hard to put down because I was addicted to reading it until the end.

I liked most of the stories in this collections, and I really like this writer's style. Most of the tales are very short, quick reads that dive into a situation and rush through to a conclusion. The conclusions themselves leave something to be desired. In many cases--most cases--the tales end with some easy, non-climactic scene. The perpetrator is scared off and the police come, etc. The terror coming in the idea that this person who is doing the menacing is still out there, at large, and able to strike again; though what they did was not all that bad, only a little creepy.
The first book in this Don't Scream series was 60 stories, with a few of following a joined narrative. That book I gave 5 stars, as I really enjoyed it and found that majority of those tales to be very well done. While I did like this second volume, and will be moving on to the third volume, I feel that the writing in this book was a step down from that of the first. Thus the reduction in my rating. But still, 4 stars is not so bad and this book is quick read that is worth the time.

Ever since I started reading /r/nosleep about 6 or 7 months ago this author stood out to me.

This collection was quite enjoyable, if not a little on the very short side in some places. The brevity, however, is to be expected as I suspect many (if not all) of these stories are from nosleep submissions.

While much shorter than the previous volume, the stories in this collection were just as good (although lacking in the connective tissue of the first volume as well). An enjoyable collection and worth a read!

Gah. This was so good! It wasn’t as good as book 1 (half the number of stories) and there were more in book one that I enjoyed but these were still excellent! Some I will think about for a long time.

I see there’s 4 of these books, I wish there were more!

I was a little let down by this second installment. The first one absolutely floored me and was so immersive I had a head spin when I finished it. This one just kind of felt very thrown together with only a few really good stories in it.

Not as good as the first one, but quite ok for an indie writer.

Toll Booth was Fantastic

Toll Booth had the perfect amount of suspense, drama and mystery! If all of the stories were like this, I would have rated it 5 stars for sure! The loss of star was for I Found A Piece of My Skin. The beginning had my complete attention, I was roped in ready for a good tale just to be disappointed with the abrupt, incomplete ending. Foreign Exchange Student was also excellent! It had the potential to be perfect had the author revealed why Mr. Dupont hurt and/or killed visitors. Finally, I'd Do Anything For My Son was as endearing as much as it was madding!!! Finn was crap for allowing his sick mother to fall for him after all she'd done to save him.

I am a reader of one genre....all things romance. But I am also a huge fanatic of all things horror related. I have yet to find a full length horror book that made me want to break out of my romance shell, but a book that contains 30 different stories? That was a risk I was willing to take. And that risk.....it paid off frightfully well. While not every single story scared me, they all were well written and thought provoking. Not all of these are far-fetched and unbelievable..... that's what makes it so creepy. I can promise that by the end of this book, you will find yourself questioning if some of these are real life events (or at least inspired by them).

First Impression:
Having never read anything from this author in the past or horror literature in general (at least in the last few years), i had no incentives to seek this out or any familiarity to make this book stand out. The creepy cover did that all on its on. The blurb gave NOTHING away....instead, it was the fact that this was a Part 2 to a bestselling earlier release that promised 30 new stories. The reason I truly stepped out of my reading comfort zone? I saw this as the perfect alternative to movies for my kids and i to bond with.

The Facts:
As the follow-up to the bestselling Don't Scream, this features 30 all new scary stories that are short yet pack one scary punch. Everything from the unknown and unexplainable, to ghosts and real life monsters, to terrifying places and alternate realms, and to things so creepy you get the chills to stories that make you face some horrific truth and what ifs......you are guarenteed to find something that reaffirms your fear of the dark. All but two of the stories are safe (not including profanity or situations kids may not understand) for kids old enough and enjoy the horror genre.

My 5 Favorite Stories:
The Crying Woman
How do We Fall Asleep?
Out for Delivery
I Chose my Child
The Birds

Honorable Mentions: Tinfoil Hat and Doppelganger
Most Clever/Genius Premise: Figure of Speech

How Many were TRULY Terrifying?

Of the 30 stories featured, I only found 2 to be geniunely terrifying. That doesn't mean the others were flops. In fact, there were only 3 of the 30 I didn't like at all, but they were still scary. My reason for not liking them were because they were either two drawn out or just didn't measure up to the others.
There were many that while not terrifying, were very high on the creepy scale due to the fact that they could totally happen to you OR that they took something familiar and created a "what if" scenario that results in full body chills.

Final Thoughts:

What turned out to be a gamble considering how many ARCs I have due, resulted in a fun way to spend my Sunday afternoon with my two older kids (13 & 9). We all enjoyed the stories and found ourselves bummed when it was over. The writing was great, how much impact each story had using so little space. Like I have said previously, many of these stories will have you desperate to know if they are true or at least inspired by true events. After having a truly terrifying and life changing experience myself with the paranormal, I know all too well how quickly fiction can turn to reality. Will it result in nightmares or sleeping with the lights on? For those like me who get a thrill from the scariest of movies, you won't be losing sleep. BUT you will walk away with that thirst for the thrill sated and eager to see if a part 3 is coming out!

Horror fans will devour this. Those that just enough a good story will even find satisfaction once finished. Whatever catagory you are in, this book is 100% worth it. I personally plan to go back for Part 1 and keep my fingers crossed for many other additions in the future!
