More World Building. More Trade. More Godly Powers.
When Garrett adds atmosphere to his planet and opens a new portal to an amphibious world, he never expected to find it lacking natural resources, and worse, what it lacks in useful items, it more than makes up for with dangerous enemies and natural predators.
If he wants to have any chance of taming the place and bringing riches back to his own world, he’ll have to unify the local governments, establish trade with a neighboring world, and of course, defeat the dungeon at the heart of the planet.
Sure, it will be tough, but if he succeeds, well, let’s just say that the prize for success will be worth it.
I dislike it when an author changes style from 1 book to the next in a series. Book 1 was great. Book 2 is annoying. There are so many puns and pop culture references its impossible to enjoy.
I made it to 60%. But at this point every encounter is a stupid pun. The summons make puns. Everything is a modern day reference.
At this point I expect him to wake up as 16 year old kid who was in a coma and this was all a stupid dream.
I have really enjoyed this awesome book like I did the first one I can’t wait for the third installment. This is a good read please don’t take to long to write it.
The story continues from the previous book. More world building and experience earning on a new world with some haram building. Looking forward to the next book.
For some odd reason (puritans in the reviews) the author removed explicit sex scenes and decided to replace them with tons and tons of additional, annoying as fuck, 80s/90s/00s references (especially the gods damned genie in the end).
Because of that, almost all of the side characters became super annoying too when they weren't in the last book.
Also, the gaming elements just became meaningless. Stats, skill levels, or general levels mean pretty much nothing. The MC doesn't seem any stronger in this book than he did in the beginning of the previous one other than being able to summon more things. In fact, in the previous one, he seemed more competent. Here, he just stands back most of the time and acts like a noob when he didn't do that in the first one.
I still enjoyed the planned building parts of the book and liked that the natives of the main quest world weren't 'noble savages' like most other authors portray primitive people. They were just normal primitive people.
Other than that, I'll check out the next book just to see if the author continues in this direction or corrects course.
Surprisingly funny Endless pop culture references and catch phrases can get a little tedious. Simon Archer doubles down on them here in Let There Be Life, to the point of parody. That is a trait I've notices in several of his books. He has the ability to feed you what your getting sick of and make it taste fresh again. This book is fun, adventurous, sexy, and funny if you can read it as tongue in cheek farce. On the other hand, if you take it as serious that a guy would genuinely train in hand to hand combat wile blindfolded to be a better video game player... well, you might be missing the joke.
I know that's a backhanded compliment but to be fair the first book opened with a sex scene. That usually means the rest of the hook will be weak but no so in this case. Character development is good aside from the main character he is most unchanged so far. My favor thing about the series so far is the overall flippant tone of Garrett. Also the random bits of humor and of course all of the nerd references. I was also surprised at the level of thought behind some of the science in the books which is pretty good. Overall a very fun read.
Being a games seems easy when the world's you creat are just that, a game. Until you are given a quest to save the galaxy and others from a monster that kills worlds because it is true evil. Now with nothing other than basic shell planets and moons, you need to create a life supporting planet and more, but to do that you too must grow in skills and more.
It was a fun read, mostly. I started to feel, towards the end, that it was already too long. Yet, it was fun through and through.
Not only did I find book 2 to be a fun adventure, but it had so many meta moments that had me slitting my sides, that I just couldn’t put the book down. A brilliantly crafted sequel that leaves me utterly excited for book 3. My review is short this time because I can’t wait to jump into the next edition.
I’m liking this series. Plenty of action and some really good snarky lines that actually made me laugh out loud while reading. Definitely buying book 3
For the second book in this series it is truly done well. The story flows at a great rate, no real filler chapters. I love how there is plenty in the book to grab and keep your attention, and yet no parts that made me want to take a short break before soldiering through to the 'good' parts. In my opinion the entire book was the good part.
Cannot wait for the next book. If you havent read the first book I highly recommend this series. Extremely unique world. Gives you plenty of adventuring, world building, and character development.
In this most recent episode our main character is taken to a brand new world. He brings along his lovable crew. I meet up with some new peoples… Although a great read, it kind of tries too hard with the humor. The pop culture references are a little extreme… It goes far away from the sexy rump of the first mobile… And what is left and explained…
This is a great story, forger of world's is quickly becoming one of my favorite series. It's not easy building h a galaxy to defeat the ultimate evil and you clearly need deep pockets. The creative and inventive characters really make this book a joy to read. Looking forward to the next one!
solid continuation of previous story. This definitely develops more of the LitRPG elements and even touches on dungeon-style adventuring. Archer dropped the more explicit material from the previous book and, to be honest, this one was the better for it. Intriguing story - I hope he continues to write the series.
I loked because it followed the storyline of the first book fairly well. The personalities are being decently developed. There were a couple of places where it felt like the author had to make choices for the main character to convenient to keep the story on track. I have recommended this book to my friends.
I enjoyed reading this book. The characters are interesting and I enjoyed the progression of the plot. The world building was good and I look forward to reading more in this series.
I love this series and cant wait for more. God like terraforming interspersed with traditional adventure stories all brought together with scheming deities. Several of my favorite story types all rolled into one book.
For some reason I waited to read the first one after seeing it on my recommended for ages. Finally read it maybe a month ago and the loved it. As soon as I saw this one picked it up finished in the night, loved it can't wait for the next.
It's fun carefree and fast. It's a book you'll feel like reading in one sitting but flows well enough with just enough depth that you won't mind if you don't.
Appreciated the decrease in sex and focus on the story. Typical character starts becoming OP and meets more girls. But i enjoy learning about the world development and im curious to see what happens from the rewards gained at the end.
Great example of a perfect litrpg novel. If World building, dungeon romping, and cat girls in chain mail bikinis are in your like column I’m pretty sure you’ll like this book. I can’t wait for the next one.
I really enjoy this type of book and you really need to have a next in series and add a 3rd book but I can tell you will need several more so get to work and get them out because I'm not sure I can survive without reading the rest
Much as I thoughroly loved this second book in the series and it is wonderful, I missed because I have to wait for the third one!! Seriously though this author just continues to pump it absolutely wonderful and intriguing books !! Thank you !!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this instalment. Everything great from the first book is present in greater quantities in this one. The plot is enjoyable, the stats are present but unobtrusive, the characters really come into their own and enrich the narrative.
